My wife and I found Le Petit Bijou on VRBO’s site. It looked like heaven. Beach front bungalow, deck with a view. We read the reviews and thought this was the place for us for vacation! Six glorious days by the ocean! Not so glorious. The place was quaint, clean but in need of some upkeep. It was well stocked with linens, towels, cookware, dishes, etc.
The beach is another issue. VRBO’s listing could lead one to believe you have a small private beach. NOT true. We left one day only to return home to find a dog tied to our balcony, along with bathing suits that had been hung on it to dry. We soon learned that we had to “stake” out early in the morning if we wanted a place to put our stuff. So, 8am like clockwork we placed our chairs and umbrellas out. Just heads up – you gotta get up early to beat the locals. One positive – we saw dolphins and sea lions.
The other thing we didn’t realize is that this is a dog friendly beach. Fine, no issue with dogs. Dog owners on the other hand – issue. Leashes I guess, are optional. Dog owners allow their pets to run free, up to and including hiking their legs to urinate on your personal property. Some didn’t pick up after their pets, so you always have to watch where you walk. Charming.
The area is pretty enough. The attitude not so much. We won’t be returning to le Petit Bijou, so those of you that love it can have it.

I am giving this one star because we loved the ocean and going to sleep and waking up to the sound.

The greatest thing about staying at this property is that it borders a dog friendly beach - especially since the owner does not allow visitors to bring their dogs. It was great to interact with all the great dogs on the beach. It was also really great to be able to walk out the back door and run on the beach for a couple of hours. The bike path is also a big plus. We saw dolphins and sea lions daily. I understand the trendy idea behind the "cable and internet free zone" but this is really a negative about this property - especially staying here in the winter when the sun sets early and sitting out on the back porch is unrealistic in the cold weather. Owner says that she advertises that there is no cable or internet at the house but I didn't realize that when I booked the house. When we were there a storm was predicted and the area had forced evacuations because of the devastating mud/land slide potential. I heard about the evacuations from a woman walking her dog on the beach. Local news access would have been a big plus. SO everyone there is NO cable or internet at the house. The rabbit ears attached to the TV do not bring in local news channels. The TV is of VERY poor quality, the speakers don't work and the DVD player doesn't work all that well either. So go prepared. Get an app for local weather and channels, load up your devices with movies, etc., so that you will have something to watch after the sun goes down and it is cold outside. I won't go back.

Spectacular location. Yes, the pics are correct. it truly does sit in the wave. train is behind it but you never notice it. you gotta like sleeping to the sounds of the ocean because you have your own ambient noise. it was great. it is a public beach so we really enjoyed watching people walking their dogs and people are super friendly. Nice folks, but not overly crowded. surrounded by other similar sized rentals but all individual and individualized. felt like you were in a little beach community. This place is just five minutes from the Montecito "strip" with shops and restaurants, 10 minutes from Vons and 15 minutes from the Santa Barbara Farmers Market. Amazing. It is small, just right for two, tight for four, but very doable with a double bed and a big futon for a second bed.
Great place to read a book, and let me tell you why. They are honest, there is NO internet here. Actually we found it really difficult to even get bars on our phones. There is no land line, you can get better reception standing out on the beach, but no surfing the web on your phones. They have a dvd player and three dvds --- all the starwars trilogy, so BYODVDs or i suggested they get some more for a nickle in the CVS bin down the street. No TV.
I cook so i am picky about the kitchen. Stove, top burners, drip coffee worked well and lots of fridge space. Nothing to bake anything in so BYOBP (baking pans). i fashioned some tart pasteries by cooking them in molded tin foil. you can make do. Bear Gryll it. Basic kitchen implements, but nothing like a juicer, etc. and as all good cook know, either take a sharpening stone or bring a knife. The toaster gave up the ghost, but they will probably fix this. I do like the management company. they worked with me when i was trying to book from australia and had no good way to get a contract back to them. they we discussed a carpet cleaning charge again after the fact, which they removed. i am not saying they should always give the renters the benefit of the coubt, but willingness to discuss issues with me is the most important thing i think. it tells me that they have ethics and maturity that other agencies often lack. bottom line, sue loved it. good birthday.

Let me start this off by telling you we would return to this charming bungalow tomorrow...for as long as we could stay. It was that sweet, that charming, that perfect. We were initially surprised by the fact that there was no air conditioner and no internet or WiFi, but we quickly remembered how to open windows, real books and talk (oh and talk). By the end of our stay we didn’t want to leave. The open windows connected us to the Pacific Ocean that was literally ten steps from the deck. We experienced amazing sunrises, breakfast on the deck as the tide came in, beach walks, wine on the deck in the evening and sleeping to the sound of crashing waves. (The first night my husband got up and opened the door. I asked “what are you doing.” He replied “making sure the waves aren’t coming in.”) The waves weren’t coming in, the ocean is just that close. It was magical. Don’t be surprised by the lack of AC or WiFi. Bring books, wine and the love of your life. You won’t be disappointed.

My husband and I fell in love with this unique, quirky little studio right on Miramar Beach in luxurious Monetecito. You can not beat this location! Tucked in a row of eclectic beachfront homes, this truly is a little gem. There is nothing better than sleeping to the sound of the waves just outside your window. This beach is great for walking, people watching, sunning, and just soaking in the scenery. It is close to Montecito's boutiques and restaurants, as well as all that Santa Barbara has to offer. The waterfront deck is the perfect place for morning coffee or a glass of wine while the sun sets.
The unit itself is in need of updating, but we spent so little time inside that it didn't really matter. Also, be aware that the row of houses are VERY close to each other, so we did experience some noise from nearby neighbors. We found it to be more entertaining than annoying, but if you are looking for privacy, you may need to find ways to create it for yourself.
All in all, we spent a truly memorable getaway here and will be back again!

Perfect Little Beach Cottage
If you're looking for a sweet little beach cottage, this is it. You'll need to be ok with people strolling on the beach near your window, the sound of crashing waves and an occasional train whistle blowing in the distance. We happened to find it all part of the charm.

Awesome location!!!
The beachfront studio is perfectly situated and close to downtown. It's about a mile walk into Montecito to great restaurants and shopping. Lucky's, Honor Bar, and Jeannine's Bakery were our favorites. You can walk to downtown on the beach for part of the way during low tide or meander through the great neighborhoods. Neighbors/owners on either side were so friendly. The location is stunning, but we were disappointed with the furnishings and cleanliness. This studio has so much potential but lacks the high end touches it so richly deserves and the small space is not utilized in the best way. The bed is too soft (or old) and against the wall with no headboard. The toilet lid was broken and needs to be replaced. Clearly this was known before we arrived and is such a simple and inexpensive purchase. The bath mat was dirty as was the cabinet where dishes are stored, and there was crusty food on one of the plates. There was also a plastic bag of rotten fruit left in the fridge. Unacceptable. There is no cable or DVD collection. There were 2 Star Wars DVDs and one was missing. When the sun goes down and you head indoors to unwind, it would be nice to keep tabs on the news even while on vacation. Basic cable is so inexpensive, particularly for a million dollar property (according to Zillow). The location is all we could rave about to our friends and family when we got home.

Sweet Little Beach Cottage
I stayed here with my two girls for a quick getaway. After a rough spring and summer, we needed to unwind and reset. The space was perfect for that. We loved the clean, white interior. It felt well planned without being sterile, and it was quite cozy. We were lulled each night by the waves, and enjoyed the view from the bay window whenever we weren't on the back balcony or the beach. We would definitely consider staying here again. Thank you for the lovely accommodations.

Ok
The studio was clean, cute however when you walk the beach your feet and shoes end up with inch thick tar on them. Made us think twice about swimming even though others do. They had baby oil and tar wipes to clean your feet (good luck w tread on the tennis shoes) however we still managed to get some tar on the carpet so was dinged for a. clean.

Like being on a Boat
The view is amazing, and hearing the waves crashing all night is awesome. Loved the 'cottage" feel of this place, and with just a few tweaks, this place could be 5-star. First, replace the futon with a loveseat that has a pull-out bed. A futon is just not comfortable, for sitting or sleeping. We took advantage of the inflatable air mattress we found in the closet.
The "mattress" on the bed has a lot to be desired as well. No spring/coils. You just sort of sink into it. I slept okay, but it's like you almost have to fluff it like you would a pillow. If you have a bad back, you're going to feel it.
The locks on the door are a pain. It took us a couple days to perfect how to get it locked and unlocked.
Other than that, we loved it. The view can't be beat. We watched surfers every evening, and dolphins. We walked to town daily for breakfast at Jeannine's Bakery. It's a short drive to Santa Barbara, where we spent most of our time, but wanted a home base right on the beach. This met our needs.

Location was great
Location was a definite 5 stars. The beach was mostly frequented by locals and was never crowded during our off season visit. The interior was 3 stars. Furnishings were fairly worn and dated. Bed was mediocre. There was a TV, but no antenna, no cable, no DVD collection, and NO WI FI. In this day and age, No Wi Fi is archaic. But the location made it all worthwhile.

Incredible Honeymoon Stay - Perfect Getaway
My wife and I visited this wonderful studio for our honeymoon after 14 months of wedding madness. I searched for a minimoon destination for weeks before settling on Le Petit Bijou in one of our favorite areas of California - Santa Barbara. Despite the rental having zero reviews, we decided to book, and we were not disappointed.
Let me preface this by saying that we loved this place. It was perfect, and I plan on going back. We arrived stocked with groceries, and ready for anything. When we opened the door and stepped inside we knew we were exactly where we needed to be for the next 7 days.
Layout: Walking in to the studio there is a fully stocked kitchen with a bar suitable for throwing together any meal of your choosing, a dining table large enough to comfortably seat 4 to 5 people, a couch to soak up the incredible views of Miramar beach, a comfortable bed-coffee table-and TV area perfect for relaxing/getting much needed rest, a bathroom tucked in the back corner with plenty of room, and a balcony great for taking in sun, watching the surf and sunsets. There is plenty of room for storage - 2 closets, and two small refrigerators. My wife and I like to go out to eat, and also like to cook together. The place accommodated both our love of cooking and afternoon snooze sessions. At high tide you feel like you are sleeping on the waves - awesome. It's the perfect little beach shack for a couples, or very small family getaways.
Area: The Studio is located down the road from Montecito. We walked in to town on multiple occasions to eat, shop, and just cruise. At low tide you can walk North to Butterfly Beach, or South for miles towards Summerland. The surf was great during our stay. There was no shortage of surfers taking advantage of the break - fun to watch. Santa Barbara is a quick drive/Uber away for food and drinks.
Service: Our manager was always quick call away and even helped by recommending activities for us. We check out Lotusland and thought it was interesting (if you like plants...we do). They also brought us extra cooking pans, and keys without asking, which was nice.
If you get a chance, stay at this great little studio. In my opinion, it is the perfect beach shack and encompasses everything living at the beach should encompass.
