We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Top Cottage. It is well appointed and quirky, with plenty of room for everyone. We had some very wet weather and greatly appreciated the cosy log fire. The annexe is excellent, ideal for anyone who likes their own space. The outside space is very private and pretty.
The only negative comment I have is it would be sensible to have dinnerplates that fit into the small dishwasher, they were too large so had to be hand washed.

Top Cottage is delightful and very comfortable. We had a great stay. The house is well equipped and the tiny issue we had was immediately resolved by the local housekeeper coming over. It is warm and cozy for the winter (we stayed in January) but I can imagine the garden would be glorious in the summer. We had a very good meal at The Fox just up the road.

We had an excellent week at Top Cottage, with the highlights being the Cottage itself, lovely and roomy with invaluable space in the Annexe. The layout in the Cottage itself upstairs was a little odd, but we found a way around it and did not negatively impact on our experience at all. It was well equipped for what we wanted, clean and tidy with everything working. Slight issue with a shelf in the fridge and also the freezer, but these are minor and could easily be resolved. Location is brilliant with easy access to Adlestrop, Daylesford, Chipping Norton and of course, lots of lovely walks in the stunning Cotswold countryside for our dogs. The garden was a perfect size too and fully enclosed so no issues with dogs escaping. We stay in the Cotswolds twice a year and would absolutely consider staying here again. A wonderful house.

This cottage was booked fort a 60th Birthday with family and was perfect, we (parents) stayed in the Annexe which was great as seperate from kids (all in late 20s/30s) however, the bed in the annexe was too small for us so I slept on sofabed. Perfect location for Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water and also great for lakes, weather was perfect would definately go back. Thanks

Disappointing
Booked for Xmas but Annexe unusable due to diesel fumes from boiler. Noted on previous reviews but not resolved, the Annexe was not fit for purpose.

Quirky cottage let down by housekeeping and kitchen
Upper Oddington is a picture postcard village and externally this property is delightful. My children loved the garden, which is very secure and has an excellent climbing tree. However the interior was a huge let down, particularly the kitchens, which contain enough (stained / chipped) mugs for the whole village and no space for groceries. The oven in The Annex feels like it could fall out when opened, the dishwasher is suitable for breakfast and little else, basically the kitchens desperately need replacing. The whole house smells dreadful a mix between an old people's home and a wet dog - no amount of throwing open the (very tricky) windows helped. There are vermin devices under all the cupboards and while I accept this is a rural area, it didn't make for a good nights' sleep. Pillows and duvets also had a musty odour and as clients are excepted to strip them more care should be taken to what lies beneath. The Annex bed is too small, I would say three quarter not double. In short needs to be restored to the high standard advertised for the fee charged. A huge let down after the delightful cottage in Cornwall the previous week.

Enjoyable Location
The cottage & annex was clean, tidy, spacious and comfortable and just what we wanted for a 4 night family break.
The cottage could be better sign posted as it’s on a corner with a stone plaque which we easily missed, the driveway has a pair of stained doors leading to the annex with an an adjoining single door to the cottage.
Also under counter fridge in the cottage is very small if you intend to eat in as a family, though it has a separate freezer.
The Horse and Groom is worth visit being a 5 minute walk.

Idyllic getaway
Excellent value for money considering the quaint location and gorgeous garden.
Nicely decorated, clean and cosy. This cottage was a little haven for our long weekend away in the Cotswolds.
The pictures don’t do it justice!

What a great week!!
Just spent a great week at Top Cottage with my daughters and grand children. Everything was fine with the cottage and the annexe was a great escape for us oldies. Any niddles we had we really petty - like no brush to sweep the kitchen floor- but it's not important really. A perfect escape for a large family.

Beautiful property, beautiful location, needs new kitchen
A lovely cottage tastefully restored in a quiet, idyllic village in the Cotswolds. The cottage was presented as clean and tidy and is good value for money when you consider its large size. Our only gripe, and I'm afraid it is a pretty major one if, like us, you have to stay in to cook for yourself and look after children in the evening, is that the main kitchen is of a pretty poor standard with many items broken and dirty. We were told a few hours before arriving that the dishwasher would be broken, and accepted this, but one of the ovens doesn't work, the cooker is uneven so it's hard to use the hob and most of the cookware is dirty and heavily worn. The front of the kitchen drawer containing the (blunt) knives comes off, and other assorted embuggerances like this give the feeling of student living in that particular room of the house - such a shame given the rest of the building! I suppose that given COVID the owners haven't been around for a while to see this for themselves as given their careful renovation they'd probably sort out the kitchen straight away.

Beautiful hidden gem of a place!
We had a wonderful weekend in this cottage with our friends. The annex unfortunately smelt of paraffin when we arrived which was explained by the owner and although had been cleaned the strong odour was present all weekend. The cottage however was well appointed and beautiful and Oddington is a lovely village.

Seems To Be Not Well Cared For
We stayed at Top Cottage a number of years ago and had a lovely experience. However our stay there this year was different. It has a nice fenced-in yard, but the garden no longer looks well cared for. Within a day of our arrival, we found a lot of garbage and recycling from previous tenants in the bins at the end of the garden. There was so much recycling there that we had no place to put our recycling and there was no indication within the cottage of when the garbage should go to the curb. Many of the dishes we pulled from the cupboard were dirty. Also, there is mould in the bedroom closet and couldn't be used and the Annexe had a strong chemical odor to it. Lastly, the hot water was not turned on and there was no clear indication in the house manual on this. We did manage to get it working after 2 days, but it would have been best to have this done before our arrival. The town is still beautiful and quiet and the location in the Cotswolds is good, however I feel that this nice property is not as well cared for as it once was.

Top cottage
This is a perfect cottage set in a perfect location for visiting nearby villages and attractions.
We would definitely stay again.
My only criticism is the single mattress in the single room. The springs have gone and the bed was very uncomfortable for my mother. She didn’t sleep well at all unfortunately.

Charming Cottage
We had a lovely weekend away with friends. The cottage was in a good location, very peaceful and the just around the corner from the local pub which was perfect for Sunday lunch. The cottage and annex were comfortable although the bed in the annex was a more like a 4ft rather than 4ft 6in which was a little snug, maybe 2 single beds would be better with a small gap down the middle, no instruction for working TV in Annex. Wi Fi only appeared to work in lounge definitely not in annex. Well equipped kitchen instructions for appliances found eventually tucked on shelf in hallway would have been better in kitchen. On the whole we all agreed that it was a lovely cottage full of character and charm.

Fantastic find.
We stayed at Top cottage as a party of 7 over the bank holliday.
What a fantastic cottage this is.Everthing was perfect.Very clean and comfortable. The annexe was just as lovely,
which was perfect for our son.
It is in a lovely quiet location but close enough to all the Cotswolds towns and villages to visit.
The local pub is just a short walk away.
The only thing that we could have wished for was a barbeque, otherwise everything is there that you could possibly want.
We would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage.
