About this cottage rental
One of a pair of 18th century gardener’s cottages set within a country estate, Plum Cottage exudes serenity. Its country chic style along with breath-taking views towards the River Stour and cricket pitch beyond provide a great hideaway to explore the stunning Dorset countryside. Chalk white walls, Farrow & Balls paints and re-upholstered vintage furniture provide the perfect space in which to relax and unwind.
An elm dining table in Plum Cottage seating ten is perfect if taken with Apple Cottage and all want to dine together.
Plum Cottage sleeps six guests - but with a special twist, as the third bedroom is the Shepherd’s Hut in the garden. With a double bed and a wood burning stove, nothing could be cosier.
Foodies will be delighted to receive a welcome basket of local, homemade treats on arrival. Expect to be greeted with freshly baked bread from our local bakery, locally sourced free-range eggs, home-baked treats, locally produced jam and of course milk in the fridge and a selection of Dorset teas and ground coffee.
Apple Cottage is also available to book at this location.

This was our fourth visit to Plum Cottage which probably tells you all you need to know! Cosy, comfortable cottage with everything you need for a lovely stay. Excellent location on the fringe of Wimborne and yet close to the coast and wonderful countryside.

Brilliant location so close to town and lots of routes out of town. Well presented and a bit quirky.
Only two of us staying and two friends for lunch one day. Loved the location and cottagey feel of the place. Wonderful to have free run of the wood pile as used the woodburner each evening, Found TV set up a bit complicated and had to replace batteries in one of the remote controls to stand any chance of turning it on!
Lounge was a great spot as sun went down over the fields.

Brilliant!
The cottage is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. The MOST comfortable beds (including the Shepherd's Hut); lots of cooking utensils, lovely welcome pack, clean and a lovely garden to it in if the weather is kind. So convenient for browsing in the town and 5 minute walk to two well stocked supermarkets, yet so quiet because of its setting within the grounds of Deans Court. One of the best places we have ever stayed! And the sound of the lovely 12 bells of Wimborne Minster just drifting in well-struck fashion across to the cottage on a Sunday was great too.

OUR EXPERIENCE AT PLUM COTTAGE
Although Plum Cottage is a pleasant cottage in an attractive and convenient location, our stay was inconvenienced by the lack of information as to how to work the oven, the central heating and the television. Fortunately we spent our first evening in a pub in Wimborne, but we could not start the cooker to boil our eggs for breakfast, even though I followed the instructions on the Welcome Sheet, "Press Power to start" and pressed the button "P". I called the local office, but the fellow who came also could not start it, so had to phone the Manager, who told him to press "I". How helpful is that?!. Changing the dial in the upstairs lobby to reset the central heating was also confusing, sometimes heating downstairs and then upstairs! And as for the double television set up, that, too, involved a lot of time-wasting trying to get the programme we wanted, since it uses different numbers than other televisions.
Unfortunately it took the shine off the property, which is why we left the day before the booked departure date.
