This was our second time staying at "the House on the Hill". It's beautiful and comfortable and
the perfect vacation home for us. I enjoy having my coffee on the screened in porch overlooking the mangroves and sea. On low tide we walked out, snorkeled and enjoyed the sand bar right out the back. We saw colorful fish, conch and jelly fish.
One day we rented a boat, it was really nice to have beach chairs and a cooler for our beverages/snacks while enjoying Exuma - very thoughtful of the homeowners.
It's rainy season, so when it rains the roads get flooded - rent a Jeep during rainy season so you do not worry about getting a car stuck. We had no problem despite the knee height puddles.
Darla checked in on us after one of the large storms; her hospitality was very much appreciated.
We love the House on the Hill and hope to be back soon! It's beautiful.

We had a beautiful vacation. The property we stayed in was how we expected from the description and the pictures, good location, very quiet, very comfortable, had all that was needed. The host was very responsive. We appreciated also the possibility to use the kayaks.
Thank you very much Darla on behalf of all of us!

We throughly enjoyed our time at House on the Hill. My oldest child declared it was the best vacation yet, in no small part due to the house itself. There were several days where we decided to just stay put at the house and enjoy the magnificent views from the comfort of the back porch.
We are a family of five with 3 adult boys, and there was plenty of space and seating. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked, and the A/C works really well, although we didn't use it near as much as I thought we would as there was often a nice breeze. Darla was communicative and helpful, making the whole rental process easy from start to finish.
As mentioned in previous reviews, the roads are a bit rough in places, including on the main highway with many potholes. We rented a Subaru Outback from Berlie's and we were so happy we did.
Overall, it felt like we were staying at a friend's house rather than a rental. This is a special place, and we created memories that will last a lifetime!

Just got back from our 6 night stay at House on the Hill- really wish it had been longer!
Spectacular views, peaceful location (just a few birds sang to us!), comfy beds, perfect amount of space to spread out (inside and outside), beautiful island-style decor, and a different sunset every evening. Darla is a super helpful and responsive host. Made use of the kayaks and SUP to paddle over to the nearby blue hole - and the water in Bonefish Flats was SO warm. It was our first trip to Exuma, so we headed out most days to explore (bringing the provided cooler, beach towels, chairs, mat and umbrella)- could have used a few more days of just chilling at the house :)
Thank you so much, Darla!!!!

We enjoyed our stay at House on the Hill! The home had everything we needed and then some! The sunsets were spectacular and we enjoyed watching the tide come in. My favorite moments on this trip were just sitting on the back porch with a coffee and a good book. This home felt like home away from home. We will be back!

House on the hill was a perfect home for our vacation. The view over the mangroves and watching the sunset were stunning. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, etc. The split bedroom floor plan was great for our family trip. The living room provided plenty of room to lounge inside and still enjoy the views. I definitely enjoyed the screened porch for some quiet time. We used the Kayaks and paddle board to get to the cays across the way which was a fun day spent nearby. Darla was very prompt and kind with all of my questions. We would stay here again!

We enjoyed the quiet location and the nice view. This house is a solid value, being comfortable and well-appointed for a week on Great Exuma. Our host, Darla, was pleasant and responsive. Recommended!

The property was everything we expected. It was large, clean and had all appliances we needed. The view was beautiful. Bring bug spray as the no-see-ums are pretty bad in the evenings!

Great family vacation which included a 20 year wedding vows renewal.
Wow! Mine and my husband’s first trip to Exuma; a wonderful experience! First let me say that EVERYONE we had interaction with in Exuma was just so nice. Everyone made us feel welcome. The House on the Hill was just perfect for our needs. The house was very clean, nicely decorated, and very, very comfortable; exactly as advertised. Our home owner, Darla, was very nice to work with and stayed in touch to make sure our trip to her home went smoothly. She was upfront with a few small issues at the house prior to our arrival and I really appreciated that. The kitchen is well equipped and the house had plenty of linens and towels. The view is unbelievable and the screened in porch was so nice in the evenings. I just really enjoyed everything about this stay. Hint: buy your groceries before going to the house; it’s quite a distance from town.

Another great stay in Exuma
We loved House on the Hill. My boys enjoy staying on the “flats” every year for fishing, and we visit different beaches everyday. The home was close to Georgetown and generally convenient. There was plenty of room and having the fishing poles, kayaks, paddle board, etc was a plus. The fishing reels would not work (my guess is that prior guests let them get wet or salty) but fortunately my boys brought their own reels that we were able to swap out. The kitchen was nicely equipped, although I did miss my dishwasher. 🤣 The beach chairs were broken, and the owner made us aware before arriving, although we didn’t really need them. (They would be nice to have though). The owner was quick to respond to questions. We did have a wi-if issue with the router, but the owner sent someone to fix it. Wi-go is generally a problem on the island. I recommend going to Aliv (exuma cellular service) and buying a mi-fi and sims card (less than $140) because then you can have service wherever you go (beaches, etc) even when internet is out. Or bring one from home if it is compatible with other providers. The road to the home is a little rough, which is not unusual on the island. I definitely recommend renting a four wheel drive. Overall, it was a great stay and we would certainly stay again.

Wonderful week!
Darla was wonderful! So responsive for any little question that came up. The house was wonderful and the king bed was so comfortable. The kitchen had everything that we needed.
The road getting there is rough but if you look in google maps there are alternate routes through the neighborhood that are in much better shape. I will DEFINITELY be back!! Exuma has my heart!! Thank you so much for sharing your home with me!!

Perfect Bahamian abode
We stayed for a week in this lovely property and by the end of our time we were sad to be leaving this gem of a home. The views are spectacular and the home simply echoes tranquillity. The property is equipped with everything you could need. We stayed in and cooked some really yummy meals. The internet was the only thing that was a bit unpredictable due to the tropical rain we encountered but the host was great about communicating with us. And honestly it was nice to unplug from everything and just bask in the beauty of nature. We will definitely be back. A wonderful experience!

Wonderful vacation house
This is a beautiful home with a gorgeous view. The house is within minutes of incredible beaches and good restaurants. We found it helpful to rent a Jeep Wrangler since there are some rough roads leading up to the house. We hope to take our family back again!

Exuma paradise
We had a fabulous stay here. The location was remote but still convenient to Georgetown. The views are spectacular (especially from the outdoor shower!)…and the house was very clean, spacious, private, and well equipped. We enjoyed using the paddle board and kayak. Darla was very responsive and friendly. We have rented a lot of properties using this site and this was our favorite. We loved everything about Exuma and felt like renting a house gave us a good local experience. Overall it was a 10! We plan to return. I would recommend an SUV for car rental because the roads are rugged but fun to navigate.

Great getaway
This was an amazing place to stay. If you’re looking for something more quiet and close to the water. Loved that they had kayaks and the paddle boat for us to use. Such a great view as well. Loved the communication as well if we had any questions Darla would get back to us right away.

Beautiful View in Paradise
Beautiful views from every spot on the huge deck - which can be accessed from the living/dining area and every bedroom. The listing description and photos are an accurate portrayal of what you get and the home was absolutely spotless! No issues there at all and also plenty of towels for showering and the beach. The washer/dryer is an excellent bonus and very handy
We have rented numerous homes, condos, apartments, etc and communication with this owner was probably the most prompt and easiest we've ever experienced.
We used the kayaks several times. Note you do have water views but you are not right on the water. There is a ramp about a 5 minute or so walk down the road or you can put the kayaks in on the rocky shore - that can be a bit tricky. It's totally doable. You just have to use a little muscle and be careful. We drove to a different amazing beach everyday from the home. Drive times varied depending on which beach you wanted to explore. You are only maybe 10 or 15 minutes from town so not too bad. I will say the road into the home is in pretty rough shape. We had rented a small car and wish we'd rented at least an smaller SUV instead for the higher clearance. We were constantly bottoming out and terrified we were going to destroy the rental and be out loads of money. Don't forget the bug spray, citronella candles if you have room in your bags and nerves of steel driving those roads... the house is in a very quiet location with beautiful views though so you'll definitely love that! We had a very peaceful, relaxing 10 days we were in the home.

Great Vacation in Exuma
The property was great and the scenery in Exuma OUTSTANDING. The beaches are incredible. Our only challenge was the roads leading to the property, if possible you really need a car with good ground clearance (SUV or Crossover) for piece of mind, the road claimed a rental car on our trip. Despite the road and the rental car we are already thinking about our next trip to the Exumas and we would definitely consider House on The Hill.

Great place to stay in Exuma
This is a beautiful location to stay. We had four people in our group and were all very comfortable. The outdoor shower is not to be missed! I recommend a smaller vehicle to rent for the island so you can maneuver around the potholes on the way to the house, it's a bit like driving on the moon!

We had a great stay. Kayaking in the cove nearby, wade fishing down the road, barbecuing lobster on the deck. Already planning a return trip

Fantastic stay!
The property is clean and exactly as described. So many helpful items- cooler bags, snorkel gear, beach mats and chairs, spices and coffee provided. So nice to have that and not have to bring it or buy it. Darla was so quick with communication and very helpful. Definitely recommend this property!

Immaculate and fully supplied
We stayed here for 5 nights on a last minute getaway. The home is beautiful with everything you need. Kitchen supplies were plentiful, beds were comfy and AC units worked great. There are more towels than needed for the home and also included were plenty of beach towels. We packed VERY light and used the washer n dryer several times. We used the kayaks which were a great extra! There are small roller carts to help get them to the water.
Accessed the water next to a house to the right of the "T" at the end of the road. (as someone else stated also) That house was recently purchased though and there is construction going on there. The construction crew was hesitant to let us through, but they did. If not using their man made sandy entry the only other way in is over a sharp Rocky edge.
The outdoor shower was a great amenity for after kayaking.
The owner was FABULOUS and communications with her were almost immediate and very pleasant.
The house is about a 15 minute drive from town and a car is a must. After this trip though we realized that a car would be necessary regardless of where one stays. Almost everyone we spoke to was at least the same distance out, if not further.
Internet service went out for extended periods more than once and that was very inconvenient when trying to plan our day. But I think it was a company service issue and nothing to do with the house. TV service/channels was too poor to try to watch, but we didn't come to watch TV, so no biggie for us. Power went out for several hours one evening too. We called the power company per the house recommendations and were told there was a large area out. My friend tried to get an estimated time until it was repaired and they laughed and said "sometime tonight". That's life on a smaller island... Lol. Again, no reflection on the home itself at all.
Living room and dining furniture is actually more like cushioned patio furniture and not good for lounging but we stayed busy or rested on the beds. The ONLY draw back that disappointed us was no easy access to water or a beach. Although the description does not make this clear "House on the Hill" should have made us realize that.. Lol. The areacis quiet and we felt very safe there. I Definately recommend this home for any family or group, who is prepared to drive to a beach (there are plenty worth the drive). The view is beautiful, the home has everything needed for a comfy stay, the rate was WELL worth it and Darla was a perfect host!!

Island home-Enjoy the privacy!
Darla's home is very well maintained and is supplied with all you need for a week on the island. Very spacious for a large family or a few couples. The views from the porch and the outdoor shower were our favorites. Very secluded lot to enjoy the peacefulness and the sounds of nature. We rented a car for the week and drove to Tropic of Cancer Beach, Coco Plum Beach and Barraterre Dock for an excursion with Triple A Adventures; all three great choices. Just a short walk from the house to access the shoreline. Kayaks and paddle board were a big plus as well. Definitely enjoyed our stay-the island beaches are beautiful!!

Georgetown visit
To say everything was excellent is an understatement. Everything was as advertised. Close enough to downtown George Town, but far enough away to give complete privacy. The back porch affords beautiful views. Comfortably furnished. Two kayaks for the boys(short walk to the gin-clear water) Fishing pole for the old guy. Definitely recommend this residence

Just Another Day in Paradise
My husband & I just returned from a 9 day stay at House on the Hill to celebrate my 50th birthday, my husband’s birthday & our 25 year wedding anniversary. Before arriving Darla was amazing with communicating directions to the house, lock box codes, managers info, grocery stores, liquor stores, car rental, excursions, etc. We are super happy with our choice, the house was so beautiful, peaceful & well decorated, with a nice living room area with contemporary island-style furnishings arranged around a nice size television (Netflix if you wish to watch TV) a large dining table, modern kitchen & appliances, everything you for cooking, even a water cooler with ice cold water. There are 3 bedrooms all with crisp white sheets, nice quilted bedding, soft extra blankets, plenty of pillows, towels (bath/beach) We had the master bedroom which had a king size bed it was extremely comfortable which is important on vacation to insure a good night’s rest, a very large walk in closet full size bathroom adjacent to it, the A/C was amazing, Very morning we woke up to views of the beautiful blue water. There are also beach chairs, kayaks, snorkeling equipment, a beach bag & cooler for your beach adventure days. A very private outdoor shower which over looks the cays. All the sliding doors opens up to the beautiful deck with breath taking views of the tropical blue water from every window. Besides dinning out we spent our evenings sitting on the deck with cocktails watching the breath taking sunsets. It was very romantic & very relaxing. We felt extremely comfortable and safe thought out our entire stay, everyone around in the neighboring homes were very friendly. For food shop we suggest Shoprite or the Butcher Shop both about 15 minutes from the house. The top 2 beaches we recommend are Forbes Hill & Tropic of Cancer, not far from the house. Eating out we loved, Rusty Anchor, Peace & Plenty, Shirley Fish Fry, Santana’s & Eddies Water Edge all close to the house. We also rented a boat from Mimi’s & did a full day Aquadisiac Adventures tour (Highly Recommend). I can go on forever about this trip and our amazing choice, but I have to close this review with saying we have done a ton of traveling in our years together and have stayed at a lot of home away property’s, this trip is at the Top On Our List…. Thank you again Darla for making my 50th birthday one I will never forget & sharing your beautiful home with us. We will be back soon .....

Fun in Paradise!
We had an awesome time at the House on the Hill! The house had everything that we needed, and was very clean and spacious. The views are outstanding! We had coffee on the deck every morning, enjoyed the breeze, and would take in the absolute beauty of Bonefish Flats. We spent our days kayaking, paddle boarding, and snorkeling right at the end of the road. We also went a few times to the Tropic of Cancer beach, where in my opinion, is the most beautiful place I have ever had the pleasure of visiting and enjoying! Darla, is very helpful and made the trip easy to make. Right after we arrived and were settling in, Kay the local who looks after the house, stopped by and made sure that we had everything we needed and that the house was found to our liking. Thank you again for helping our family make wonderful memories together!

Loved House on the Hill
Thank you for sharing your home with us. When you rent from Darla, she will take care of you. We had trouble with an air conditioner, and Darla had someone at our door the next morning. Excellent communication! Great host! This home has a beautiful view of the water and was so peaceful! Thanks again. We hope to return again soon!

House on the Hill
Really enjoyed our time staying in House on the Hill. Clean and comfortable. Great views from every window. The area has lots of untraveled roads to walk and explore and the house isn’t far from the sights of Exuma. We had lots of fun and relaxation.

Wonderful property in beautiful location
The house was immaculate with wonderful spacious rooms and beautiful views. Everything needed for your stay is available including a bowl full of fresh ice cubes in the freezer to kick-off your stay. To access the warm and welcoming waters of the sound, just walk a few yards past the last little blue house that is for sale facing the bay, which is just a short walk from the house. There is a break in the rock face leading down to a sandy bottom which is clearly visible through the crystalline waters. Would definitely stay here again.
