About this villa rental
A Caribbean hilltop villa, 'Casa Dos Cuervos', offers spectacular ocean and island views, cooled by constant Trade Winds. Secluded in a 22 acre lush tropical setting, we are the last house on the last road overlooking the west end wild life preserve. The casa is ideal for one couple. The main house is large, as is the bedroom which is connected to the main house by the roofline. The grounds are beautiful with gardens and palm groves. And you are the only ones there.
The setting is very private and romantic, with large patios and a 10' x 40' lap lane pool. The luxury one bedroom, two bath home has a full kitchen with microwave and dishwasher, Scandinavian Professional cookware, washer and dryer, a living room with a queen size futon (for an extra person), and a dining room. The bedroom is furnished with all amenities, a plush pillow top queen size mattress and 1,000 count cotton sheets.
Handicap access is good.
Great sunrises and sunsets daily! And you may find a little magic on the hill.
Greeting at the airport: We have a property manager who will greet you at the airport, escort you to the casa, and check you out when departing. We believe you'll find her very friendly and helpful.

Can’t say enough about how peaceful our stay was. Ben and Colleen were wonderful - perfect hosts with great communication.
The home and property are spectacular, especiallY the lush landscaping. House is extremely comfortable and well appointed. Slept like babies with constant breeze to cool us. Truly a special special place. We will definitely be back!

We both enjoyed this house in paradise very much. The beautifully landscaped property, ocean views and a great pool.

We are still stunned by the beauty and intention of Ben’s place in Vieques. We were so comfortable from start to finish. The grounds are breathtaking; our hardest choice each day was whether or not to leave to go to one of the island’s miraculous beaches or not. You’ll be surrounded by nature but protected and safe all the same. Colleen and Ben were very helpful and kind with great communication overall. We can’t wait to come back!

The casa is indescribably beautiful. With views of the ocean on both sides of Vieques, surrounding nature, and a nearby pasture, you will feel absolutely immersed in the lush beauty of this island. Not to mention the unbeatable privacy of the property! There are not many places that afford ocean views, pools, and absolute privacy.
All of that said, the true gems of the casa are owner Ben and property manager Colleen. Both were so kind, understanding, and knowledgeable. Colleen definitely knows this island like the back of her hand and could answer any question we had for her! When we regrettably had to cut our trip short (nothing to do with the property), Ben reached out to us personally to ensure all was well. These two were absolutely incredible and made the entire experience that much better!!
If you're looking for a private island getaway where you can unplug and immerse yourself in nature, this is the place.

We loved this home, the pool right off the great room was amazing, the wide open beautiful landscaping made for a dreamy environment. Being able to see both sides of the island was phenomenal. We did choose a hot time of the year to come but having that pool to ourselves all day was refreshing and cool. Fun drive up to the house and everything you could need for a beach day was already there. My advice go to the fish market and get some live lobster or fresh fish and take it back to large kitchen and have your meals daily to yourself... I'll certainly be back.

Lovely secluded house, great for honeymoon! The view was amazing and the pool was a refreshing welcome after a long day exploring Vieques! Ben and Colleen were great hosts. Colleen was very helpful with everything we needed and provided excellent knowledge of the island and recommendations for food nearby. Can't wait to come back!

We enjoyed our stay and hope to go back! It is a beautiful house on a hill with a great 360 view. The host has beach supplies available (chairs, unbrellas, towels and cooler & ice packs) which were extremely appreciated. If you are a light sleeper, you may want to bring ear plugs or sound machine. At night the frogs get loud and the birds like to wake up early! Despite the noise level of the wildlife, we loved that we were surrounded by nature. We had such a relaxing week enjoying the island and the house.

There isn't a prettier property on the island. From the architectural design of the house to the tropical landscaping with gorgeous palms. There are incredible views from every angle of the property. It is simply outstanding.

We had a lovely week at this property. A jeep is a must to get there as are hiking shoes for the paths around the house. We wanted for very little while we were there, and made good use of the charcoal grill by getting lobsters from the fish market. The stores on the island had everything we needed for meals at the house, and the house was fully stocked with all the basics like cooking oil, seasonings, etc. The house stays cool without any AC. But next time I might bring some earplugs- the animal nightlife is active and the frogs can really sing! Ben and Colleen were great and helpful. Great property!

From expressing initial interest in the property, to booking, to arriving, to departing the communication with owner Ben and property manager Colleen was excellent.
The property itself was amazing - secluded and private. House is beautiful - fantastic furnishings and well supplied.
Due to the great communication and information provided, had no need to reach out to Ben or Colleen during my stay. But I know it I needed to they have been more than responsive.
Upon departure, taxi was late picking us up. Colleen was concerned we would miss flight so she offered to drive us to airport. Thankfully we ran into the taxi when leaving the drive.
Highly recommend to anyone who wants a private, low maintenance, stress free vacation!

Beautiful Sanctuary
Casa Dos Cuervos was the perfect honeymoon retreat for us. Spectacular Views from the front and back of the home… comfortable, quiet, private, remote and yet just a few minutes drive to town. Beautiful pool. It was a delight to dive into the pool after a day of exploring the island and then just sit in the comfy poolside chairs with a cold drink and contemplate nothing while watching birds fly overhead or the rain showers come, pass over us and go out to sea. Even now, back at home in Austin, I can close my eyes and see/feel it all again. Colleen, the property manager, was a great source of island information. Ben, the owner, was a delight to work with. We were lucky to be able to stay at the Casa. Honeymoon Perfection.

Perfection … that’s what we decided
Everything went great…including having our flight cancelled! It was just what we needed, in fact we spent more days just enjoying the the breeze, the views, and the creatures…cows, lizards, giant hermit crabs!! Like I said in the title..!perfection

Casa Dos Cuervos was perfection!
Every single thing about our experience at this casa was top notch. The house and property are stunning. If you're looking for quiet, private accommodations this is the place! The house manager went above and beyond to assist us with big and small things. The owner, Ben, was prompt with communications and such a gracious host. I heartily recommend this place!

Exceptional in All Respects
This is a superb vacation rental.
The property is relaxing in all respects, from the bedroom building, to the main building, to the pool deck, the pool itself, the grounds, and the stunning views of both the east and west. The property is completely private and quiet (except for the coqui frogs at night, which we actually grew fond of!).
One of my big concerns going in was the lack of air conditioning and whether it would be too hot, especially at night. This concern was completely unfounded --- the breezes running through the buildings as well as outside are more than adequate to keep things cool. The buildings have screen doors to allow air in but keep critters and bugs out. The property also has ceiling fans and floor fans if you get too hot.
We rented a jeep and had no trouble handling the road to the casa. There are some bumps along the way, but we quickly learned where those were after a few trips back and forth and managed them with ease. The road also seems to have had some work done that I surmise may have dealt with trouble spots referenced in past reviews, but I don't know that for sure. If you only rent a golf cart, however, you will have trouble making it to the casa.
The property included beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers that were great for trips to the beach.
The property manager, Colleen, was excellent and responsive to our needs as things came up. Ben also personally called me at one point just to check in and make sure things were going well.
I highly recommend Ben, Colleen, and this property for your next vacation.

Hilltop Beauty
What a beautiful peaceful place!! Our first trip to Vieques. Ben’s home was lovely beautiful 360 views of Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico with balmy breezes 24x 7. House was very well equipped outside space lovely for swimming book reading refreshments and watching the lunar eclipse. About a 15 minute ride into Isabel and Esperanza which worked for us. Island people were all very lovely and Covid conscious. Great to just jump in the car w chairs and a cooler to explore for the day. Thanks much to Colleen the property manager she was great pre visit planning and responsive to all our requests. Thanks also to Ben the owner checked in several times and obviously keeps the property in great shape for visitors!!

A Perfect Getaway
We arrived in Vieques after a stressful travel day which included a flight cancellation and subsequently a missed flight. Colleen was in constant communication with us and when we finally made it to the island, she lead the way up the hill to the casa. Even in the evening light, we could see this was a very special place and the most pleasant surprise after our long day. When we woke the next morning, we could see the full beauty of the house and the grounds. Absolutely stunning and the views can't be beat! The casa is comfortable, warmly decorated and beautifully constructed. There is no television- not needed and no a/c- not needed. The ceiling fans and the air flow through the screened doors kept us comfortable. The area is surrounded by plants, trees, flowers and nature. There is a cow pasture nearby and some of the cows will wander the road and the area beyond the property. On the property there are birds, iguanas, geckos, mongoose and in the evenings, a nighttime choir of coqui frogs. The frogs are the only rowdy ones we encountered! It is truly a quiet, secluded and peaceful place to stay. I can see why some would find the road to the casa challenging, but if you take it slow and use caution (and plan the time to get up the hill and back down), you'll be rewarded! We ended up spending more time at the casa and the pool than we anticipated. Morning swims, sunset cocktails and nighttime stargazing became our ritual. Between Ben and Colleen, our rental process and planning went smoothly. Colleen was readily available and responsive when any issues came up or if we had any questions. Ben owns a gem on the hill and we appreciate his graciousness. We can't wait to return!

Magnificent
This property has to be the best in Vieques. The house is beautifully designed with an old world feel. It has everything you could possibly need for your stay. Very private, safe feeling and comfortable. I would stay here again and hope to in the not to distant future. Thanks Colleen and Ben!

Amazing stay!
Ben’s place is absolutely amazing and both he and Colleen could not have been lovelier. The views, the stars and singing frogs at night, impeccable landscaping, and gorgeous pool made for an incredible week in paradise. We had so much room to spread out in the house and the kitchen had everything we needed. If you’re considering a stay at Ben’s just book it, you won’t be disappointed.

Perfect Private Paradise
We loved our experience at Casa Dos Cuervos! The property was in good condition, and Colleen the property manager was super helpful and responsive for any/all local recommendations. The house is a bit remote on a bumpy road (definitely need a car, not a golf cart), but other than that, it was a perfect escape for a honeymoon!

Heaven in heaven
We had an amazing time during our week on the property. There's such a calm serenity at the house; it's completely private with stunning views of the island all the way to the sea. We spent the evenings watching the sunset, the night watching the milky way and listening to the chorus of frogs, and the mornings enjoying the breezes coming in through the screen doors of the private bedroom suite. It was everything we wanted our trip to magical Vieques to be - the pictures on VRBO don't really capture the beauty of the place. And the owner and caretaker couldn't have been more hospitable; Colleen was available for questions any time, and Ben checked in on us once we arrived and let us know he, too, was available at any time. It was clear they both care very much about the property - it was clean, well stocked, and tastefully furnished.
I couldn't say enough about how much we enjoyed this VRBO; we always use vacation rentals when we travel and this may have been the best one we've ever experienced.

Exceptional!
We just returned from a week's stay at Casa dos Curvos. It was fabulous! Everything mentioned in the previous reviews is absolutely true. Yes, the road in is very rough, but definitely navigable and actually fun. We loved staying at the casa so much that we never made it to the Bio Bay or even out to dinner in the evening. When we returned from daily excursions to the many beautiful beaches or touring the island, we spent the evenings just enjoying the casa, the pool and the incredible grounds (imagine picking fresh lemons for vodka tonics!), and utilizing the fully stocked and equipped kitchen and grill for dinner (note: before shopping for food inspect the cabinets as you may find many "essentials" already there - Ben encourages their use and, of course, restock). The breeze that blows constantly on the hill is both cooling and refreshing, and the house stayed very comfortable throughout the day and evening (note: this comes from someone that does not tolerate warm sleeping temperatures well). I do not know if because of the breeze, the season, or something else, but we saw only 1 mosquito at the casa in the entire week. The island itself is a wonderful mix of amazing beaches (get to Navio if you have a jeep or walk to it), funky towns, good food, and nice folks. The horses roaming everywhere add to the scene, and try to be in town on the weekend to see Paso Fino horses and their riders "quick-stepping" their way through the streets. Overall, Ben has a magical place in Casa dos Cuervos. Don't miss it if you're visiting Vieques!

First of all, all the previous reviews are pretty much on the money, as is the listing data. What you can't really get a feel for from the listing and photos is the aura/vibe/atmosphere of the whole property (I don't want to get all "new age" here, but the property is an integrated whole - very serene). The house is very well maintained, but not new (no granite and stainless). It has a patina and has aged gracefully. Lots of artwork on the walls - it's someone's house, not a bland rental property. If it was all brand new it would seem out of place. The grounds are beautiful - mature plantings, great landscaping without being overdone or fussy. It helped that the island had had a lot of rain prior to our visit and everything was either green or flowering - beautiful, really beautiful. The "road" to the house warrants special mention. A few previous reviews have hinted at what an adventure is is, but they were being polite. Approximately 1/3 mile of pothole blighted paved road, and then the really interesting 1/4 mile of dirt path. The severe rain washed out sections of the dirt road (that had supposedly been recently graded). 4 wheel drive was an absolute requirement - partly for ground clearance, but mostly for traction on several steep sections with loose dirt/sand. Nothing scary, but its condition forced slow careful driving. This made getting from the house to the main road (route 201) an 8 or 10 minute drive. You are in Esperanza in 5 minutes once on the main road. If you accept "island time" when driving the access road you will find it adds to the experience and insures your privacy (it's just not a quick trip to get that bottle of wine you forgot, but not enough of a hassle to stop you from going). My wife and I went to Vieques to relax - both the island and the house exceeded our expectations. The house and land and view at the top of the island immediately caused the stress level to drop to zero. PS: Ben, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with and has a great network of managers on the island to get you to the house and settled in.

Beyond Belief
After several years of separate vacations, and on our honeymoon no less, my fella and I wanted nothing more than a gorgeous location to hunker down for a week & cook, sun bathe, read & wander in to a town once in awhile. The Casa provided the ultimate version of our vacation vision. It's an adventurous ride to the property (yes, you most decidedly need to rent a jeep) and the views once you get to the top of the hill are so worth it. No one believes the pictures are real. The yard is perfect, and filled with creative landscaping and a huge variety of native plants. The house is a unique structure with a gigantic open floor plan, big beautiful kitchen and a separate bedroom full of windows and local art. Unless we were away, the doors and windows were always open, making the song of the coqui frogs or the swishing of palm fronds our constant mood-enhancing soundtrack. The pool is perfect for actual lap-swimming or lounging with a tropical drink.
Colleen, the caretaker, is a delight. She's easy to communicate with, provided tons of useful information about the island and made herself available during daylight hours. Ben also called to check on us, which was kind!
If you want peaceful luxury in a perfect climate, this is your place. You're just a bumpy (fun!) 10 minute ride from Esperanza and a little more than that to the island's myriad beaches and activities. Honestly, though, once you've got your groceries purchased, you won't want to leave.
Thank you Ben! Thank you Colleen! We will be singing your praises to other travelers and hope to return someday!

It's like Christmas morning when your 5 years old!
Remember waking up on Christmas morning to find the presents you wanted waiting for you? You were pretty sure you knew what you were getting or hoping to get and you were so happy you couldn't contain the joy. That's what it feels like to drive up to this place. Seriously, how many adults get goose bumps about a place they have already seen photos of and researched diligently on-line? You know what you rented so why do you feel like a kid laughing at how great it really is? We just kept laughing and smiling the whole time.
Everything that previous reviewers have said is true about the responsiveness of the owner, the helpfulness of the property manager Colleen, the conditions of the property, the grounds, the view and the amenities of the villa.
What is hard to put into words is the appreciation you have for the vision of what has been created here and a sense of gratitude that you have an opportunity to stay. It’s personal and private. You have a sense of wonder that a place like this exists and the person who owns it is willing to share it with you. Every direction your eyes can look has been carefully planned and tastefully done.
One caveat, the road leading to the villa is not for timid drivers. You should be comfortable driving a 4WD in off road conditions. To be fair, it rained while we were visiting so the conditions may have been rougher than usual. We liked the added adventure of driving steep inclines then covering the backside of the hills that had deep ruts and holes. The first section has pavement, then it turns to dirt and has some more pavement strips later on, then dirt again. Hey, that’s how you get all that privacy! We had a Jeep Wrangler and had to drive carefully. I wouldn’t let that stop you from visiting but you should know to expect that and get a 4WD.
I already want to go back. I know what I want for Christmas, my own Casa Dos Cuervos.

Private, serene, restoring.
This was possibly one of the most peaceful & relaxing vacations we've had. It isn't just the beautiful simplicity of the casa; the remote hilltop setting, the rustling of the palm grove in the steady breeze, & the unobstructed view for miles all combine to absorb the stress from you & put you in a contemplative mood. Colleen, the house manager, met us at the airport so we could follow her to the house. She then gave us a brief but thorough primer on how the house works & how to get around Vieques before giving us her cell phone & leaving us to decompress. Ben, the homeowner, was responsive to my inquiries & was a pleasure to speak with by phone. He even called the house on our second day just to make sure we were happy or see if we needed anything. I felt comfortable that I could call either one if we needed anything at all; we didn't. The house & grounds, like Vieques, are unfussy, refreshing, & tranquil; luxurious in its solitude. Thank you Ben, for the privilege of staying in your special home.

Awesome property that offers the utmost in privacy
We stayed at the Casa for a week. We loved the house, the pool, the privacy and everything this property offered. Colleen the house manager is phenomenal! She was very helpful with any of our questions. If your looking for great views, exceptional accommodations and awesome privacy this is the place for you. We hope to return again sometime soon! The views at night are absolutely incredible! A must see!

Stay as long as you can.
The Casa provided the perfect setting for our recent trip to Vieques. The house is spectacular in every way: the views, the amenities, the wildlife. Ben (the owner) and Colleen (the house manager) were amazing to work with and provided every detail we needed to have the best week. Ever.
If you dig having a front row seat to the best star-gazing on the island, enjoy being serenaded by birds at night, and can wrap your mind around having a dance party pool-side with blended drinks (made with rum, coco-lopez and fresh fruit off the trees) then this is the place for you.
Our only regret about our stay at Casa Dos Cuervos is that one week wasn't long enough. Our advice? Stay as long as you can. Seriously.

"MAGICAL" House on the Hill
What can I say about this magical retreat that hasn't already been said- My husband and I decided to return back to the island of Vieques after having been married here in October of 2010. After researching lots of homes on the island I came across Casa Dos Cuervos and decided to take a chance on it...and we were so glad we did! The house is even more breathtaking in person then the pictures could ever show. It is completely secluded on a hilltop with all the privacy you could ever ask for. We absolutely loved the open doors throughout and couldn't believe how incredible the grounds were and the amazing views. We took advantage of the fully functional kitchen and enjoyed being able to use the grill on several occasions. The house has everything you could ask for- stocked kitchen, books to read, ipod players, beach towels/chairs/umbrellas, and the list goes on...
Colleen was a great resource whenever I had a question and was available anytime we needed her. Ben was even nice enough to call and check up on us to make sure we were having a great time and enjoying the house.
We can't wait to return to this little piece of heaven on earth!

Perfect Place, Perfect Vacation
My wife and I just got back from our best and most relaxing vacation ever! This was our second trip to Vieques and our first stay at Casa Dos Cuervos. It was the most perfect place we could have stayed. It far exceeded our high expectations. Everything in this listing is even better than described and it is even more beautiful in real life than in the pictures.
The home was in wonderful condition, carefully maintained, and spotlessly clean. Both the owner and on-island property manager were very responsive to all of our inquiries. The property manager gathered our arrival information and even made sure the rental car company had our car waiting for us at the airport. From there, we went straight to the ultra-private casa where she reviewed everything we needed to know and left us multiple ways to contact her should we need anything.
After the wonderful welcome, everything was pure bliss. The layout and location of the property provided excellent privacy and the feeling of seclusion yet was only 10-15 minutes from many wonderful restaurants, grocery store, and is centrally located with respect to the variety of wonderful beaches all over the island.
The views of the sunrise over the Caribbean from bed were amazing! At night, relax on the veranda or by the pool as the sun disappears over mainland Puerto Rico. The location of the home on the top of the hill provides the ultimate in views, cooling breezes, and great 360 degree star-gazing.
We can’t wait to go back!

beautiful private house
My wife and I rented Ben's house for a week as part of our honeymoon. The house and grounds are beautiful and peaceful. You'll have complete privacy and there are beautiful views everywhere you look. Colleen, the property manager, will meet you at the airport, help you get your rental car, with you drive you to the house and get you set up.
If you've never been to Vieques, the island is beautiful and people are friendly. Most of the restaurants were subpar and overpriced compared to what we are used to and we had a much more enjoyable time preparing our meals at the house and enjoying our time away from everyone else.
There is excellent cell phone reception and wireless internet. There is (thankfully) no television in the house. There's also no air conditioning, but there was always a nice breeze blowing through the house. The pool does not have chlorine in it which makes swimming a MUCH more enjoyable experience.
Ben, the owner, is very pleasant and professional and Colleen, the house manager, will give you whatever tips you need to get around Vieques.
This house is the most relaxing and peaceful place we have ever stayed and I think you'd have a difficult time finding a better place on the island to enjoy yourself and get away.

Amazing casa on a wonderful island
My husband and I have travelled islands around the world for the past 32 years. We seek out small islands that have still maintained their character and Vieques is one of the best. Several years ago we began renting houses through HomeAway and have tried to find places that also match the character of the island they are on. Casa Dos Cuervos is one of those perfect matches. Lush grounds, a lovely pool, a quiet location with glorious views and an absolutely beautiful casa.
My husband is an early riser and I am not, so having the bedroom detached from the rest of the casa allowed him to get up, showered and out exploring while I could sleep in. There's lots of space in both the bedroom and the main area of the casa, which are beautifully decorated in island style. Also, the owner, Ben, and the manager, Colleen are wonderful to work with. If you are looking for an authentic island and a place to stay that matches it, Casa Dos Cuervos is perfect!

Beautiful House, Beautiful Island
This was our second trip to Vieques and our first time staying at Casa dos Cuervos. The house is absolutely amazing - fantastic views, beautiful land, and the details of the house itself leave nothing to want. You can tell a lot of care went into building and designing the house - everything you need is here for you, as promised in the description. It was truly even better in person than the pictures and description show. We just got married, and it was a wonderfully romantic place. When the sun goes down, you get the nature choir, which is a beautiful sound. The sunrises and sunsets are beautiful from the house.
Ben was wonderful to work with - very responsive and friendly. The house and property are incredibly clean and well-maintained. In looking at the guest book, he has a number of repeat guests. I know that if and when we return to Vieques, we hope that the Casa is available for us to rent!
One thing to keep in mind is that this is on top of hill, a little ways out so you will need a car. We rented a regular car, which was fine, but I would recommend renting one with 4 wheel drive, especially for driving to the beaches.
If you are new to Vieques, all of the beaches are wonderful. My favorites are Blue Beach and Playa Navio. Esperanza is great to hang out in for drinks and food at night. We discovered Next Course, which is in the middle of the island, and went there twice for dinner- it was fantastic. Also, make sure you make it to the Sol Truck when they are open; delicious food! Belly Buttons, in Esperanza, has a good breakfast. The house has some recommendations, as well, for beaches, restaurants, etc. And definitely do the Bio Bay. We did it last time we were in Vieques, and it was pretty amazing. We used Abe's, which brings you out in kayaks; the guides were really knowledgeable.
