Staff was extremely helpful and went out of their way to help me as a first time visitor to the island. The breakfast buffet was delicious and everything on the property was well appointed and had a classy and caring touch to it. Top notch!

Really great hotel to stay in the south of island. Unfortunately we’ve only been there for one night. The staff is very friendly and open for any questions. Delicious dinner at the restaurant and a perfect breakfast. The hotel offers a lot of activities like horse riding or hiking tours. Comfortable beds. We didn’t miss anything

Einmaliges Ambiente, grossartige Küche, fabelhafter private Spa. Nicht nur für Pferdeliebhaber eines der schönsten Hotels an der Südküste.

This is a very beautiful hotel. Superb rooms . Excellent food. Very friendly staff. During our stay the best hotel , far from any other. Everything themed around horses.
Nothing. This was the only hotel during our 2 week stay in Island, that was something special and worth the price.

An absolutely lovely hotel with a perfect location for anyone driving the Ring Road south. Skálakot feels like a true refuge; it's in a beautiful and quiet setting, but just a few minutes from Seljalandsfoss and Seljavallir pool. We had the beautiful sauna and hot tub to ourselves. One of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in (we examined the duvets for brand identifiers...)
There are horses on the property, so it often smells like horses. Not really something you can get around or that was a big deal.

Nice hotel and beautiful surroundings specially the ravine near to Àlhólskirkju.
Cozy interior and good food

Skalakot was everything I hoped it would be - beautiful location, time to rest, and some brilliant activities. The breakfast spread is fantastic (breads, eggs, pancakes, fruits, great coffee), the horse-riding was wonderful and the spa / massage was gorgeously relaxing.
I enjoyed dinner but found it comparatively overpriced, and I would have preferred some simpler options. In saying that, the food was delicious.

This was our favorite hotel of the entire trip! The service and staff were truly outstanding. The hotel itself is cozy and the rooms are wonderfully decorated. The beds and sheets - AMAZING soft and crisp. The staff at the horse barn and the beautiful horses made our short stay truly special. I can't say enough about this gem and will definitely look forward to staying here again soon!

I loved absolutely everything about this manor. It was refined-country, cozy, crisp, and sophisticated-for-Iceland without being pretentious or minimalistic. Painted wooden panels, lush couches and beds that you sink into, spacious bathrooms. Beyond the decor being truly attractive, the staff was always smiling and helpful. After a freezing trip under the Seljalandsfoss waterfall's spray, I felt my extremities again in their clean sauna and further rejuvenated in the pool looking directly out into the landscape. Food was delicious with intriguing combinations of tastes. Parking was free and plentiful, access from the main road was simple, yet removed from the fray. I highly recommend this hotel/manor.

The breakfast was very nice, the surroundings are beautiful even though we were not lucky with the weather.
The staff was super helpful and the hotel was beautiful and cosy.
All details were thought of in the interior and spa was super nice even though it could have been a bit cleaner.
There was a group of travelers drinking beer in the spa, and when we came to the spa there were cans everywhere. Not very suitable for the style of the hotel but not the hotels fault though.

The staff were all amazingly accommodating and friendly. The property was absolutely beautiful. The food was excellent. Great breakfast buffet. The horseback riding was great!
The television system was very confusing and totally outdated. We know we were not there to watch TV, but at night before bed it would have been nice to have the ability to watch something. The Spa are was absolutely gorgeous, but they charged property guests to use it which seems like a sad way to "nickel and dime" a guest for a charge that should have been included in the stay.

We arrived a the most majestic, magical place we didn’t know existed. We loved arriving at the hotel and being greeted by a beautiful sheep dog who wanted to play with a smal stone and seemed really well trained. When we walked into the hotel, we were immediately greeted by friendly staff who took out bags and brought them to our room after showing us the way and introducing us to the hotel and it’s facilities. Staff were extended friendly. Additionally, there was a friendly white cat who became affectionate as we were sat outside cooling off from the sauna, who also greeted us at breakfast in the morning by sitting outside the window next to out table. We loved every single second. It felt like a real home rather than a hotel.
We were expecting a balcony with our room because we booked a superior room based on the pictures which showed a balcony. However, we had a normal room without a balcony. We were and still are very grateful for our experience wven without the balcony. We only suggest to the hotel letting guests know that a superior room may come without a balcony.

Cozy and beautiful. Full of details, quiet and with a beautiful landscape, gives you a incredible experience. The breakfast is also really nice and tasteful. The staff is amazing, all the time helpful, always available to help and guide.

Room and overall hotel was super cute and comfy, with extra sitting areas for relaxing. Staff was super friendly. Horses were beautiful. Great breakfast.
Bathroom was on the small side.
Food was pricey and just ok. We had so many delicious meals on our Iceland trip and unfortunately I would have to say the main course dinners here were our least favorite.

Lovely Hotel, loved that the horses were so close and it was so peaceful, restaraunt meal was amazing ( lovely fresh bread too)
Only a little downside is that the spa had a cost ( not much else to do on site thats free). Room had coffee but no tea/milk in the box.
