Sands of Time was designed with relaxation in mind but there are also plenty of diversions. Panoramic ocean views and multiple living spaces are just the beginning of the many comforts you will enjoy at this home on the 4x4 beach. There is a pool table, ping pong table, two arcade games, private pool with tiki bar, three levels of outside seating, hot tub, X-box 360 and so much more!!
The spacious third level with reverse floor plan, offers many seating opportunities. Choose to separate into intimate groups or large gatherings as desired. The huge gourmet kitchen has plenty of room for multiple chefs as well as cheering bystanders on the seating side of the huge island. The dining area which seats 10 is also connected to the sunroom, which can hold more diners or the latest puzzle / game. The great room has gorgeous views of the ocean and boasts a huge seating area with many entertainment options. Find relaxation in the ships watch, which overlooks the great room. We opened the door to an interior that enhanced our beach experience with an esthetic interior decorated with inspiring art which must have been collected over years of travel. The house is totally functional with picture windows framing beach dunes and sea in the kitchen and bedrooms. We loved our stay at Sands of Time! We had a group of 13 - 3 families ranging from 12 - 50 years old. There was something for everyone to do and keep busy. It was clean, spacious and the kitchen had so many helpful items, since we cooked every meal while there. The walk to the beach was wonderful too - very close. Communication with the property manager was easy and prompt. We loved everything about it and plan to come back again. ❤️

This home is amazing! The owners didn't overlook any detail to make this a perfect place! Any want or any need was fulfilled with how the home was fully stocked with ammenities. Throughout the kitchen you will find every cooking essential all the way to oyster shucking knives. The weather was not very kind so we found ourselves indoors more than we wanted but we were kept occupied with games, books and small secluded nooks to take an afternoon nap. We are absolutely returning for round two next year! It is a wonderful home!

From the exhilarating drive down the beach to get to the house to the wonderful walks up the beach spying dolphins and seeing wild horses at every turn, our stay was fantastic. There was plenty of room for us to congregate - the spacious living room, the fun game rooms (inside and out), the bonus tiki bar, the front sunset-watching deck - yet space to hang by yourself in your spacious bedroom, your choice of outdoor decks, or other small nooks in the house. Well appointed, beautifully decorated. Highly recommend.

The house is wonderful, it’s exactly like the pictures and actually even better. We had the unfortunate luck of being there during a storm that lasted our entire stay, but the house kept us entertained and the location made it more interesting as we watched the sea from the house.

Well stocked with almost everything you can think of. 4 wheel drive required to get to house but well worth it. We saw wild horses most days. Check the tide charts and plan accordingly and you’ll have a great time.

Exceeded our Expectations
We just returned from our stay and all are in agreement that it was one of our favorite vacations ever! There were 9 of us, ranging from 71-10 years old. The house was great, the pictures really don’t do it justice. The location is wonderful and the directions given were perfect! Listen to the advice and be sure to air down! Driving on the 4x4 beach may not be for everyone, but we loved it. It totally enhanced our stay! The outdoor area was great and the pool was surprisingly large! We loved that the deeper water was in the middle and each side was shallow. We would have enjoyed an outdoor speaker system, maybe something to consider for a future enhancement!
Having 3 full sized refrigerators was great, we used all of them! This house was so well thought out. The kitchen had everything we needed, even birthday candles and corn holders! I’m not sure if this is possible in the area but a water machine that holds the 5 gallon bottles would be a great addition, even at an additional fee for the renter.
Laura, the PM, was a pleasure to deal with and very responsive.

Perfect Place
This was our first family vacation that included everyone from grandparents to grandchildren, and this house was PERFECT! With 4 spacious suites plus 2 more bedrooms, everyone had their own place and bathroom if they needed privacy, and we had large, beautiful gathering areas to come together as well. We really noticed the attention to detail from the potted plants, seating everywhere, binoculars placed around the ocean view windows…. We also made good use of the tiki bar, and game room! While some might find the 4x4 beach inconvenient, it was actually perfect for us. Everyone had fun driving along the beach, and for our family members with medical conditions that would make it nearly impossible to walk over the dune and through the sand, being able to drive out and park on the beach was not just convenient but necessary. We are already anxiously planning our next visit!

This house is absolutely sublime. Clean, spacious, gorgeous furnishings and amenities. I don’t know where to begin with my praise of this gorgeous home. My family and I had the time of our lives for our one week vacation. I would recommend this property to everyone and anyone. The sole drawback for my family was the 4 x 4 beach. We were not equipped with the proper vehicles, which meant we were isolated to the property for the whole week, without the ability to leave easily. We did not understand what it meant be located on a 4 x 4 beach. I would stay again in a heartbeat, but would make sure that I rented a proper 4-wheel drive vehicle. I give this property two thumbs up! So gorgeous, spacious and right on the beach. What could be better?

Great family vacation getaway!
This house and everything about it was amazing. We had 5 adults and 4 children on vacation together for the week and there was PLENTY of room. The house was amazingly appointed. We have a chef in the family and he was thrilled. While the location is remote and we all drove 4x4s to get to the home...we planned ahead and did not have to leave once while we were there. The beach in the morning, the pool in the afternoon and drinks on the deck in the evening...heaven.

What a great house! This place had everything one would need at the beach. In addition to the pool and hot tub and advertised ping pong table and arcade games, this place had every beach game you can imagine, boogie boards, kayaks, etc!! Our crew was well entertained. Outer Banks at Sands of Time
The property was just AMAZING! The amenities were fabulous; Workout room, complete indoor and outdoor game rooms with multiple things like ping pong and pool, Along with arcade games, electronic darts; board games, cards, etc.
Everything you could need for the beach and the pool was there. The kitchen was exceptionally well stocked. Beach towels were even provided, along with your Sheets and towels package!! Laura the property manager was amazing. Got back to us immediately on a few questions that we had.
The decks on the house provide sun and shade options with plenty of places to sit, and relax, and enjoy. The views from the beach of the sunrise were spectacular. The pool area was perfect with the tiki bar and a place to store beverages in the refrigerator and mini kitchen.
Some people may find the drive from the main road through the 4 x 4 area a challenge because of the distance. If you don’t hit the drive during low tide, You’re looking at a good 45 minutes from the road. And it’s on sand, so you’re slipping and sliding even with a 4x4 vehicle. But if you want privacy and you’re not one to like lots of crowds, this is definitely for you. If you plan to drive out during low tide, its about 20 minutes travel time and much easier.
The wild horses were simply beautiful to watch and they were around the property quite frequently, including the beach. The pictures that we got were phenomenal. In addition the Naval base in Norfolk had helicopters and aircraft flying up and down the beach line for training. We loved it because we’re Naval veterans and got to really enjoy watching THAT!!
One of the BEST properties we’ve stayed at EVER. Seriously felt like we walked into HOME!!!❤️
(Our only regret was that the swimming pool is not heated....and because the temperatures were in the high 60s and low 70s it was never warm enough to swim without heating. We would have paid extra for that!)

This house was perfect for our group. They had everything to keep kids and adults entertained, no matter the weather. Plenty of indoor/outdoor games, as well as equipment for the beach and pool. So much to do, or space to just relax and do nothing. Kitchen was well stocked and worked out great for cooking daily. Great views and wild horses were nearby basically every day.

Paradise even in a storm
We had two families with a total of 9 kids under 11 and loved every inch of this house. If it wasn’t for the bad weather that tropical storm Arthur brought in this would have been my favorite vacation beach house ever. We were basically quarantined for 4 of our 7 days but still had a blast. When the weather cleared up we gotta a little taste of the full package and we will definitely be coming back. Thanks for all the thoughtful and intentional parts of your home that truly make it special for the whole family.

House was wonderful beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen was better supplied with anything one would need for cooking than any I’ve ever seen. (Though there was no disposal- only negative comment of our whole stay).
There were more games(board/ video/ darts/ billiards/ping pong and more) entertainment/ movies than I’ve seen in any rental!
Laura was very easily reached before our arrival for several concerns about the 4 wheel drive situation- always picking up the phone immediately. We would definitely go back- our group from age 2 to 74 thoroughly enjoyed our week.

Binoculars hanging near the doors of the oceanfront rooms, a cup of random reading glasses in the lounge area, beach games, cornhole boards, rafts, etc. so you don't have to transport your own. Clean, beautiful, great location - it ticked all the boxes for us so much that we are going back again next year!
