About this house rental
Relax in the privacy of our mountain home during your stay at Sugarloaf, in the quiet but convenient West Mountain area. Enjoy spectacular views of the entire Bigelow Mountain range or the Crocker Mountain Cirque from almost every room of this three floor, 2100 square foot house.
Located about 500 feet from the West Mountain Trail, with normal snow conditions you can ski-in ski-out on a short cross-cut trail, or take the shuttle bus (ski season only) directly to the base lodge area. Snow shoe or nordic ski on informal trails at the golf course 1/2 mile away or an 8 minute drive to the Outdoor Center's 105 km groomed trail system.
The main floor is comfortable and roomy, open concept, allowing great exposure to the winter sun. The living room area has comfortable couches and a large wood stove which can be opened to view the fire like a fireplace. Also on the main floor are the dining area, fully equipped kitchen, entry area, and half bath.
The lower level has one bedroom with twin beds and a trundle bed, a full bathroom, a family room with TV and a large sectional couch, and a laundry room.
The upper level has 3 bedrooms (each with a queen bed) one with a private bathroom and the other two share a bathroom.
Ski-out access is by the Bucksaw Express chairlift which is open daily. A free shuttle bus goes by the house on a schedule (every 30 minutes) from 8 AM to 5 PM to take you directly to the base lodge area or to restaurants and shops at other times.. After 5 PM the shuttle is available by calling 207-237-6853. Leave your car parked in the driveway for your entire stay!

This was lovely for our yearly getaway with a few other couples. Shuttle access. The house was clean. It is a ski in ski out property. We will definitely be back :-)

Great location right on the mountain, easy to ski down to the house, which was cozy and had everything you need. We had a memorable trip and will try to book this place again if it’s available!

This is a great ski house. It has breathtaking views and great light. It is beautifully appointed and has an excellent kitchen that is much better equipped than the usual rental. There is also a tuning bench in the utility room. We always bring our tuning gear but often there is not a warm , dry place to wax and sharpen our skis. The owners are clearly serious about skiing and have created a space to maintain gear.
This is a ski off location. you can ski from the mountain to the dooryard. On weekdays the best route to skiing is a short shuttle bus ride from the foot of the driveway, leaving every half hour. Maybe next spring lifts will be running every day to get to the resort, this year it was ski on on weekends only.
There is a wood stove and a freestanding gas fireplace. It's a big space with different places for small groups to form around fires or puzzles. The wifi works; there are multiple TV's. Warm, no drafts, plenty of hot water. Everything is about right for a ski vacation.

Two families with teenagers just enjoyed a relaxing ski vacation here. The house is very welcoming and cozy, with open common space we could hangout. Nicely stocked kitchen made us felt like home. The internet connection was pretty good with all of our devices going at the same time. Other set up in the house are also very convenient and homey. It gave us the feeling of a well-loved house with a lot of stories. Peter the owner was very responsive to our questions. The snow plow service was also responsive.
The location was not labeled as ski-in-and-out but we were pleasantly surprised it’s really convenient to get to the slope. First, there is shuttle service stop right in front of the house every half and hour to and from the base lodge. Second, we can hike a few minutes to the green trail right under the West Mountain Chair. Coming back there is a stretch of blue trail at the top but it is super fun coming down all the way on the long and wide slope. We all had a great time here.

We have been Sugarloafer's for 30+ years and have always stayed mid-mountain or off of Wiffletree. This was our first time staying at West Mountain and we were really pleasantly surprised at the location, convenience, and comfort. The house was wonderful and really sets up nicely for a family with adults and children who can be on a different level than the adult. The kids had their space and the adults had their own space. Getting to and from the mountain was easy and the entire home was really well stocked!! we would definitely book again.

We really enjoyed this particular location. It was private, quiet and close to the mountain. Loved the shuttle bus pick up and drop off! House had all of the necessary amenities, and more!
The skiing was amazing! We were gifted 32" of snow graced our arrival...driveway was plowed and all!
Hope to return again!

Great location. The photos of the views don’t do it justice. House was well stocked and very cozy. Proximity to all that Carrabassett has to offer is great! Only feedback I have is beds are not super comfy. Would stay again!

I would recommend
this to anyone looking for three bedrooms. It also has a couple of significant sitting areas. Very well lit with natural light. Big Kitchen allows multiple people to cook at the same time.

Perfect place for our getaway, 6 adults
The space is perfect for a ski vacation. The mud room keeps gear contained, and the living areas are well laid out and comfortable. The pictures do not do it justice! Would def stay there again. Oh, and the ski shuttle literally stops at the end of the driveway.

It's the perfect Sugarloaf ski house. As Peter says you can ski in off the West Mt trail and the shuttle pulls up in front of the house every 30 min to get you to the base. Or on weekends you can ski to the West Mt chair. We've always stayed around the base but we would definitely stay here again.

Gem with great history
My family has been coming to Sugarloaf for decades, so the wonderful photos and history of this spot were a delightful bonus to the magnificent views and perfect accommodations. I agree with previous reviews that the photos don't tell the whole story. The home is spacious while maintaining its rustic mountain charm. The amenities are plentiful and everything was spotless. Our entire family "cozied" right in and couldn't have asked for better.

Nice and pleasant stay in the summer
check-in process is a breeze. Place is clean and well stocked with many things. Beautiful view of the mountains from window. It is a little way up the mountain so make sure you bring some food with you if you will be arriving late.

We had an amazing week in Sugarloaf, Maine. The house easily fit our family of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids.) with plenty of room to spare. The whole house was very clean and had great views of the surrounding mountains from every room. Plenty of games and TVs when we had the energy after a day of exploring. The kitchen was well equipped as we cooked most meals at the house. The house is conveniently located right up the hill from an awesome golf course and a picturesque walk to the river (West Mountain Falls). Short drive (less than 5 minutes) to restaurants and all activities on the mountain.

Very clean and comfortable, such a great spot to enjoy The Loaf and the rest of Carrabassett Valley. Our host Peter was super helpful and organized - what a great spot in Maine!

We will definitely come back again for another family trip. Thank you Peter for renting to us your gem!
