About this house rental
Ar Sparfel is a self-catering house with 5 bedrooms, 3 with twin beds,1 with double/twin beds and 1 with a single bed - sleeping up to 9.
There are two bathrooms, one with bath/shower/basin/loo and one with shower/basin/loo and a separate cloakroom with loo and basin. Wifi. A large heated drying cupboard. Dishwasher, Clothes washer. Large living room with seating for 9 persons and dining area with french doors leading to paved terrace with barbeque.
Spectacular sea views from the house & terrace look straight out to Les Tas de Pois islands and many lighthouses which can be spotted winking at night. The sunsets are magnificent from the terrace and house.
We built it in 1978 at the edge of a tiny unspoilt cliff top hamlet away from noise and traffic approached by a small road that is marked 'dead end' and only for the use of the residents. Ar Sparfel is the last house in the village.
The house is easy to keep clean and the beds are made up for your arrival. The rent includes all outgoings and rentals are from Saturday to Saturday. Large safe garden for children to play with large lawn brilliant for ball play.
Take the track from the house and the sandy beach (Porzh Mel) is 300 yds a 5 minute walk. 15 mins walk along the cliff path in the other direction takes you to one of the best surfing beaches in France, Lostmarc'h which adjoins La Palue.
Local facilities include tennis, riding, sailing, kite and wind surfing. There are classes for all ages in Kayaking, Paddle Stand Up Boarding, Sailing and Surfing at the Centre Nautique de Crozon-Morgat (see their website).
Drive 8 mins to the market town of Crozon with its fish and veg market most mornings, shops, supermarkets and pretty square with church and cafe. There are at least 3 supermarkets nearby and everything one could ever want that is French! It is the same distance to the seaside sailing resort of Morgat. The medieval town of Locronon with its ancient church is a 35 min drive. It is 40 mins to the medieval city of Quimper with its wonderful cathedral and Quimper Pottery factory tours as well as cafes, bars and restaurants.
There are many seafood restaurants in the area and an abundance of sandy beaches suitable for different ages.
Our village, Kerabars, is 65 miles from Roscoff, 160 miles from St. Malo, 280 miles from Caen and 270 miles from Cherbourg.
The area is beautifully mild in the winter and the house is double glazed on all windows and heating in every room.
From Ar Sparfel you look out at a spectacular view of the Atlantic, Les Tas de Pois (islands) and the Point de Dinan. A 5 minute walk, from the house down a track takes you to our beach (Porzh Mel) which is ideal for surfing, collecting mussels at low tide with many rock pools for children to play. There are wonderful cliff walks in either direction. The peninsular has a temperate climate. In the mild spring, gorse and broom flare golden and there are carpets of primroses and wild flowers. From June to September it can at times get incredibly warm. In the autumn the cliffs are covered with purple heather & gorse. The villagers say snow is unknown and frost almost as rare. The little Port of Morgat is 8 minutes drive away and Crozon, the market town, the same distance.
Things to do: Eating at the little seafood restaurants is a great experience. You will be faced by Plateau des Fruits de Mer, Coquillages, Crabes and Crevettes and home seems far away! To work off the excesses - run or walk along the cliff tops in either direction from the house and/or swim and surf in the sea.
Diving Clubs, Windsurfing and Sailing abound at Morgat, and Camaret sur Mer, a well known port to English sailors is a15 minute drive away.
There is so much to offer from small children to teenagers. Tennis with all weather courts and indoor courts in Crozon and bicycle hire from Crozon and Morgat. Golf is 40 minutes away at Golf de Brest Iroise with 18 spectacular holes.

Our group had - once again - an amazing time in the beautiful nature in Kerabars and inside and around the house. It's calm and remote. Perfect to relax.
Thank you!

Lovely holiday home at fantastic location and wonderful view
The house is perfect for families/friends, with enough bedrooms and bathrooms/toilets. The living area might be a bit small if one needs to stay inside with nine people all the time, but we do not know really since we lived outside as we had really non-Breton hot weather! It was even too hot to have lunch at the picnictable without a parasol. We mentioned this to the owner and the next day we were provided with a big parasol; very helpful indeed! The interior of the house is not brand new, but it has a cosy atmosphere and the beds are fine (although with a length of 1.90 a bit short for tall people like the most of us 😃). The great attraction of this house is the location and the magnificent view. One can start walking from the house along the GR 34 or just go for a swim less than ten minutes walk to the beach. Also a great location for surfers with La Palue and Lostmarch close by.
We enjoyed our stay very much and certainly would like to come back!

Perfect place
This perfect place is off the beaten path but just steps away from the GR and hiking trails for miles. The house is cozy but spacious. This was our second visit here as a family and we hope very much to be back. The owner is gracious and quick to answer any questions. We are so grateful to her for sharing this beautiful place.

Wanderferien Kraozon

For us, this house is a special house, because it is in every corner .... feel the love with which this house was planned.
Everything is organized and also our thanks to Anni ..... who greeted us warmly. When booking was thought of everything & very well organized.
A house .... which we liked very much, because it has a soul. We felt so comfortable there & the farewell was very difficult. We definitely want to come back here, because it is exactly what we want.

Beautiful and peaceful
Perfect house for our family reunion. Next to miles of hikes and close to the beach. Plenty of room to spread out and homey too. I'd go back tomorrow if I could.

Wonderful stay
What a magic position at the end of a lane with nothing between you and the sea except for cliffs. Short walk to a lovely beach that was uncrowded even in August. I hope to be able to go again.

What a magic situation, right at the end of a lane with no other houses between you and the sea. A short walk to the beach which even in August wasn't crowded. Lovely walks. Great time and hope to go back!

We spent a very enjoyable week at Ar Sparfel in October with our 1 yr old. The house is a cosy (but deceptively large) traditional family holiday home with everything you need for a week or two of vacation. It has a quirky and endearing charm which is obviously steeped in family history, and the place is made really special by its incredible location on the clifftops and set in its expansive garden with a glorious sea view. We really enjoyed walking, surfing and swimming all within a few paces from the front door, and taking cafe lunches in nearby Crozon and Morgat. The only negative would be that the steep open-tread stairs are not very safe for toddlers (although there is a panel which can block them off at the bottom). It might also be nice to have a couple of double beds for couples, and also wifi access. None of these things bothered us especially as we were there for a proper family getaway - and all in all, it's a great spot for a relaxing and exhilarating holiday. We certainly plan to return. Thank you to our kind hosts who made us very welcome.

the surroundings, atmosphere and character of the place is perfect for any family or single persons holiday get away. I cannot put into words how much pleasure the place gave me when taking my friends and family for a 10 day holiday retreat. there is a lovely town called Crozon not to far away where all your needs for supplies and interesting things to do are met. Its peaceful and refreshing if you want to relax with mixed sunny but always warm weather. If you want to participate in more exciting or cultural activities there is a maze, treetop climbing and a paint-balling site less than 5 mins drive away. Morgat and camerat supply more beaches and shops aswell as fabulous painting/drawing sites and views. There are many cultural marvels to be enjoyed, including caves, churches museums, aquariums and many more that I plan to visit on my next visit for sure. if you are looking for sporting activities then there are a number of very well managed sport venues within a 30 minute drive. these include; indoor/outdoor tennis courts near crozon, many golf courses with great reputations, sea school (sailing ect), swimming (flumes), go-karting skating parks. Overall this place gave myself and friends the best holiday for the cheapest cost we've ever had. thank you so much and I know we'll be back!
The listing description was very accurate if not it understated the place.
The layout is simple yet unique. the location is easy to accustom yourself to. Again the facilities are simple but there is everything you need to have a good time and get away from the world (as a holiday should be)
the property was exquisitely well cared for and obviously intensely maintained to give the best accommodation possible
It was the easiest trip I've ever had to organise with no complications concerning dates, prices or extras, at all. The cost was agreed (cheaper than I would of paid for such a good holiday)
I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family
I particularly loved the food at chez Philippee's (Crab, prawns lobster etc)
The bretagne cider is now my favourite cider and all the ice cream shops along morgat are fantastic with ridiculous floured ice creams and toppings including all the house hold named ones. adored the swimming at camerat aswell as playing a fantastic round of golf and long days of fishing and walking on the cliffs. The people from the villages are so friendly we got invited to diner many times. Thanks again, J

We had a wonderful holiday with our three teenagers at Ar Sparfel last summer. The local beach is a great attraction and an easy walk from the house - good surfing, clean sand, rock pools and never too crowded. There are plenty of other good beaches a short drive away. The house is simple but well kept, easy to clean and cook in and with amazing cliff top views and sunsets which we enjoyed with regular barbecues on the patio. I particularly enjoyed the cliff top walks in both directions from the house and there is plenty for teens and younger children to do a short drive away in Morgat. My son did a surf/kayaking course and the girls had tennis lessons and there are lots of other activities available particularly over the summer months. There is also an abundance of good supermarkets and seafood available both at the markets and in many local restaurants. We will definitely stay at Ar Sparfel again.

We had a very enjoyable week at Ar Sparfel. The views are stunning and the coast path is on the doorstep. We swam and surfed everyday at the beach 5 mins walk away and always had the beach and sea to ourselves.
There were 7 (5 adults and 2 teenage boys) of us and the house coped well. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds comfortable, a combination always wanted but rarely achieved! The garden was perfect for cricket and football.
Crozon had all we needed and you could even buy fresh langoustines on a Sunday morning.
We had 2 very good meals at Hotel de France in Camaret and Hostellerie de la Mer in Le Fret. Both very friendly.
We will definately go back as I dont think you can beat the position and beauty of the cliffs and beaches.

We have revistied this house several times now and on each occasion it has provided the perfect setting for a wonderful family holiday.Morgat and Crozon (both a short drive away) are great locations and we visit them regularly, but it is wonderful to return to this spot, nestled at the end of the village overlooking the sea. The house is the last in the small village, and sitting on the patio in the evening watching the sun set over the Atlantic is the perfect way to end a day.The house itself is extremely comfortable and has all the facilities we have ever needed (including a washing machine and dishwasher). The garden is relatively large, providing plenty of space for younger children to play, and older children enjoy the freedom of exploring the nearby coastline, free of cars but with the occasional mountain-bike (serious enthusiasts would find much to enjoy and challenge them along the costal paths).All-in-all a wonderful house for a holiday in this unspoilt area of France.

Ar Sparfel
My family has visited this cottage three times in late June/early July in recent years.
It is wonderfully situated at the end of a quiet road with little car parking at the end so the volume of traffic is limited. The panoramic views from the house are stunning, especially as the sun goes down. The garden is great for football etc. Access to beaches is excellent (10 minutes to quiet but exciting beach, 20 minutes to surfers beach, and short car hop to Ghoullien which is a classic open family beach): rock-pooling, slightly hazardous swimming, lots of sand at each. We regularly visited Crozon (typical small town with good market and other facilities) and Morgat (more typical seaside town with safe beach and very friendly tennis club!).
The walking is excellent throughout the area, particularly round the coast. The whole peninsular is relatively quiet, at least out of high season when we have been there.
The house is well laid out and homely, is good for kids and has most amenities, but if you are expecting all mod cons you will be disappointed (but it is good fun watching the World Cup on the TV in the local bar rather than at home!)

Ar Sparfel
My family and friends all love Ar Spafel and we have returned three times in the last four years.
The house has a practical and attractive layout where one can be cosy or cool according to the weather. It is lovely to be able to go down to the beach ready to run straight in to the water and come back to the garden to dry off. Do remember this is the Atlantic though, so be prepared for all weathers.
The view from the terrace at sunset is breath taking. There are visiting rabbits and occasional woodpeckers in the garden and nothing but a flower strewn footpath between the house and the beach. The garden is ideal for children wanting to run around and play ball games or for anyone else to sunbathe, read, babecue or just sit with a drink gazing out to sea.
There are no shops in the village but its a shortish drive or cycle ride to the market, supermarket, bank and petrol station at Crozon and there are great restaurants with harbour views at Morgat and Camaret.
There are lots of interesting places to visit but best to check on closing days before going to places like Quimper or Morgat. Annie next door knows about local events if your French is up to it. We have been lucky to be in Morgat for Bastille day with supper served on the quay followed by bagpipes and fireworks. Another day we watched from the garden to see the tall ships go past on their way from Brest.
We all enjoyed a boat trip from Camaret to get another perspective on the coast line. If you don't want to go all the way to Karnac there are a few standing stones in walking distance along the cliff path and an impressive circle near Camaret.
We always leave Ar Sparfel looking forward to our next visit.

Ar Sparfel
We have spent two fantastic holidays with friends at Ar Sparfel and hope to go again soon. The location is wonderful, five/ten minutes walk from a small but quiet beach and at the end of a quiet road so virtually traffic free which is so relaxing especially with small children. When the tide is in on the small beach there are various other bigger beautiful beaches close by within easy cycle or drive. The garden is large and surrounds the house. It is mainly grass with both sun and some shade which was perfect for toddlers/babies to enjoy : my son learnt to walk at Ar Sparfel and on the little beach close by. The view from the garden is stunning (especially the sunsets). The house is comfortable, attractive, well equipped and clean. The various paintings on the walls throughout the house provided endless dinner discussions. We took sea kayaks, surf kayaks, snorkels and bikes with us because it is a brilliant place to explore by bike and boat, plus some of the local beaches get some of the best surf in Europe. There is a network of walking and cycling paths across the peninsular which we really enjoyed. You can hire bikes in Morgat 15 mind drive away. The aquarium in Brest and the swimming pool with water slide at Morgat are excellent for any rainy days. You do need a car if you are staying at this property to get to the supermarket etc but we were quite happy spending our days messing about in the garden and playing around on the beach so used our vehicles as little as possible which was lovely. A very relaxing place to stay.
