This place enchanted me with its atmosphere, attention to detail and the colonial character of the building.
Despite the overall excellent conditions, a few things need to be improved, the building was clean but the blinds were covered with several days of dust. bedside tables should be on both sides of the bed. Breakfast was surprisingly well prepared, but I missed bread or fresh baguette. not very empathetic cleaning staff, the owner and breakfast staff were very nice.

Lovely breakfast, friendly staff, nice table seating ( this was a sister trip for us)

The breakfasts were fabulous, the service was friendly and quick, and it was an outstanding and unexpectedly fine experience.
The truck in front needs some TLC. It's a great one, but some work would make it even better.

Beyond expectations! Did not expect a homemade, gourmet meal for breakfast!, personally made and served to us at 8:30 in the morning!

The grounds are beautiful and the staff exceedingly helpful (giving directions, accommodating food allergies, anticipating needs. One of the staff even gave us the sunscreen out of her own house when we forgot ours.)

Clean. Clean. Clean. Every last corner was clean. A last-minute choice to stop for the evening and we couldn't have found a nicer place. (Being off season likely helped.)
Leaving.

The Farrell House itself is beautiful, both inside and outside, and exceptionally well maintained. The views from the breakfast area and the main living room area are gorgeous.
The property itself is outstanding, and it was such a terrific surprise. The House is on about 70 acres, and there is a stream stocked with trout that runs throughout the property. We saw blue herons, and a couple of eagles, and took multiple walks there.
The caretakers, Dan and Heidi, just couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. They were super friendly, knowledgeable, and they are excellent at what they do. My son and I felt like we were at home, for sure.
Doug, one of the owners, was also great, answering our questions, and giving us a tour of the house and the many different rooms.
Would highly, highly recommend a stay here. Just fabulous, and relaxing, a real wonderful retreat.
Many thanks to them all, once again.

The grounds are amazing elegant and magical. A gentle, trout filled creek meanders back and forth with enchanting bridges and foot paths all over the grounds. The home is beautiful and well preserved and updated for comfy eating, relaxing and sleeping.
Maybe carpet runner in the halls. People arrived around midnight and just their walking and room opening echoed and was very loud. Carpet runner would help.
Everything else was above and beyond amazing.

Such a beautiful setting! We were so pleasantly surprised to arrive and find beautiful grounds to explore. It was a quiet stay for us; just what we needed. we are not fishermen but just watching the wildlife was very fulfilling. The room was cozy, the theme was well carried throughout. The history shared by the owner was fascinating. We will be back and we will spread the word to our friends!

We LOVED the grounds and house— took 45 minute walk along streams and paths in the morning before leaving. The house has great American history, charm and character. The staff was wonderful and accommodating; enjoyed a lovely breakfast facing the grounds. Also enjoyed meeting the owner on the way out and learned a little more about the history of this home. Very therapeutic- wish we had more time to kayak on the pond:)

It was our second time back and brought another couple of friends, as we loved this place so much. The house is beautiful, you have breakfast with a view and get to enjoy the surroundings which makes you feel in a fairy tale. It has a cool game room which we enjoyed as well playing pool and using the juke box. Will be back soon.

There is no reason to stay anywhere else when in the Sandusky area. So beautiful, so relaxing. Perfect. It’s a better value than any five star hotel period. Quiet, clean, wonderful!!!

Exceptional location..truly an oasis. The owner Doug was really welcoming and rightfully proud of the property and what it has to offer. The most relaxed 3 days...and throwback to 1940s style living. We had the suite and it was spacious considering our 2 children move around a lot.
Heidi and Dan were fabulous taking care of our breakfast needs as vegetarians..and tolerating all the noise generated by our kids :) First time in ages we had a proper, sit down at a reserved table meal.
The kids bed was very springy.

The owner, Doug, takes great pride in the place and his personal touch and that of his staff is OUTSTANDING. Most enjoyable place I have ever visited!

The grounds are exceptional. Cold Creek meanders under huge willow trees, benches are spread along to sit and listen to birdsong and watch the trout. Our room was large and comfortable. The included breakfast was generous and delicious and served in an enclosed patio overlooking the grounds. We played pool listening to old songs on the jukebox. Beer and wine are available for purchase in the inn. We departed relaxed and refreshed after only 2 nights! Dan and Heidi, the caretakers, are very pleasant and accommodating. Doug, the owner, is personable and approachable. We felt like family, rather than guests.
Honestly can't think of anything we didn't like.

It was very clean, and quiet on a private location. Staff was very friendly, and the service and food was amazing. Didn’t get to check out all 70 acres, but we can’t wait to come back again.
