The whole place was a pleasure. The room, facilities and food were good. Anne was a lovely host and pointed us in the direction of a local restaurant that was exceptional.
The weather. It didn't really stop raining the whole time so we were unable to take advantage of the outside area and lake.

My review of this Chambres d’hotes establishment is unfortunately entirely coloured by the poor reception and lack of any sign of care for its guests.
We were a party of 4 adults and had booked 2 rooms. Prior to our arrival I had made a request via Booking.com for dinner. My request was acknowledged and I further corresponded with the hostess to inform her that we were driving from London in 2 cars and, all being well, would arrive at approx 6pm in time for dinner at 7.
We found the place quite difficult to find - it really is off the beaten track - but when we did find it it appeared to be a very charming and recently renovated farmhouse. After a long journey we were dismayed to find no sign of life. We went to what looked like a side door which was locked, with a notice saying to call a given phone number for access. We phoned the number and got a ‘number not obtainable’ message.
I wandered round to the back of the house - and how lovely that was…… long manicured lawn and flowers leading down to a serene small lake with overhanging trees. Table, chairs, sun umbrella etc. But no signs of life. I peered in the windows and finally spotted a man to whom I waved. He didn’t come out, only gesticulated that I should go back to the front of the house.
By the time I got round to the front again ( it was a long building) the lady of the house was outside apologising and explaining to my companions that her phone wasn’t working. She showed us to our rooms and we were tired, hungry and thirsty and asked if we could have a drink outside. She said there was nowhere to sit outside so I said ‘but there is a lovely terrace at the rear. She said that was out of bounds and private. I said in that case could we carry 4 metal chairs at the front of the property into the sunlight and sit by the side of the road in front of the house.
We then asked what time dinner was only to be told that there was no dinner as we hadn’t booked! She tried to blame Booking.com
(Contd) …… saying they hadn’t let her know. I then showed my message to her and her message to me in acknowledgement. She gave a Gallic shrug and said she would try and phone a local restaurant. Then came back and said her phone wasn’t working and gave us the name of a place nearby. We dragged ourselves back to the car. The restaurant was closed…… as was the next place she recommended. We had to drive several miles before we found anywhere to eat.
The next morning at breakfast ( a minimally perfunctory affair in a gloomy, charmless room) we discovered that she had 4 other guests who appeared to be her friends. They had been given dinner and I concluded that the hostess had not wanted us to eat with them.
No apology was offered - and upon leaving we were presented with a bill for €15.08 for the bottle of Cremant we had been begrudgingly given. When I offered €15 it was pointed out to me that it was 8 cents short.
All told, this was the worst stay I have ever had in a Chambres d’hotes property - with the most charmless and ungracious hostess imaginable.

(harvesting machines may make some noise in the distance, till late in the evening, but middle of july, that is to be expected.)
