Just what we needed!
Wow, what a getaway. For anyone looking to disconnect and relax in a beautiful spot, this is for you. The house is lovely - bungalow style with a large open area and great appliances. We spent plenty of time on the hammocks and adirondack chairs out back, mostly for early morning coffee and evening cocktails. There's nothing to hear but the pleasant ambient noises of the ocean and tropical forest. There is no internet connection so the temptation to "check in" isn't there and by the third day we weren't even thinking about it any longer. Both bathrooms are clean and spacious, and bedrooms include A/C to keep you cool at night.
The surrounding area is terrific. The rustic walk (or ride on bikes if you choose) to the ecolodge is pleasant and and the ecolodge itself is extremely well designed and maintained. The food and drinks are great and given there are no crowds there is never a line for anything - food, drinks, massages, yoga, tours, etc. Just ask and you got it!
We left our two young kids at home for this trip. Within an hour of arriving we were already planning a return visit. That said, it is extremely family friendly (there were several parents with kids there) so should you desire bring them along. For us, it was the perfect trip to reset and unwind - fueled by a steady flow of rum, walks on an empty beach, morning and evening swims and talking with friendly people from all over. We're going back ASAP!

Awesome getaway and beautiful surroundings!
This was a great place to get away from it all and relax. The home was beautiful and exactly or better than advertised. Janelle was very helpful and friendly. She even got us milk and a can opener. The beaches are spectacular and the water was amazing!! We would highly recommend this home and area. You have to check out "mind the gap" a few hundred yards down the beach. Diego, Morgan and crew are awesome and super friendly.

Amazing Getaway!
We recently had a girl's trip getaway for a long weekend and no one was ready to leave! Finca Del Mar is so peaceful and this house nestled in the property was the perfect destination. We spent our mornings sipping coffee on the house patio and enjoying the nice breeze and peaceful atmosphere. The beach is a short walk (10 mins) or bike ride from the house and we enjoyed spending our afternoons swimming in the ocean, taking surf lessons with the amazing instructor, taking sunset beach walks, and laying in the hammocks and reading. The lodge offers daily massages in an open air space where you can listen to the ocean and feel the ocean breeze. Each massage therapist was excellent! We also enjoyed daily meditation and yoga taught by their teacher. Janelle, the property manager, made us feel so comfortable and took care of absolutely everything for us. She arranged airport transportation, greeted us at the house with fresh flowers, stocked the kitchen with groceries and everything we could ever need, and she made sure everything was taken care of so we could just unplug, relax, and enjoy. She is so wonderful! I left feeling relaxed and renewed. We enjoyed our adult "girl" time but I'm also looking forward to coming back with my husband and kids. It's a relaxing, family friendly atmosphere and I definitely plan to be back!!!

Awesome trip! We had a 'sisters' getaway for a week and were SO sad to leave. The house was great - quiet, breezy and relaxing. We spent most of our house time on the patio in the Adirondack chairs. Janelle was wonderful - she made our airport transportation plans and had all of our food and drinks at the house when we got there. We walked the beach daily and were usually the only ones on it. The massages at the lodge were GREAT, as was the breezy location overlooking the ocean. It was fun to hang out at the lodge for drinks and/or meals. Definitely would love to go back!!!

Fun and relaxing!
This was one of the best vacations my husband and I have been on yet! We have a yearly tradition of traveling with two of our close friends to a new location every year. We stayed two weeks and it did NOT disappoint!
One of the main things we loved about the property itself is that it was so quiet and super chill. A nice breeze usually blows all day, so open doors are great (if you need a little bit more cooling there are air conditioners in the bedrooms and the outdoor shower was great).
We started the days chilling on the back porch in the hammocks for coffee and breakfast, then head out on the bikes to the surf lodge (Los Cardones) for some local beers and late lunch. We literally spent almost every single day at the lodge which was one of our favorite places in Nicaragua. If you are more than two people, you may opt for walking or driving (if you have a car) as there are only two bikes. It's a good ten minute walk, so I would keep any surf boards at the lodge.
As for the river, we came during the dry season it was dry. Note that in case that was an eye-catcher for you. It didn't change our experience at all!
If you want to visit the golf course, it is a bit of a haul down the beach on foot. If you stroll back at night make sure to bring a flashlight. It's actually a pretty cool walk at night as the area makes for some AMAZING star gazing.
The house has everything you need to cook at home as we did most nights. The showers are mostly cool water, but was fine with us since it can get pretty warm during the day! If you want to get out and adventure a bit, Janelle can help you rent a car. There is a really cool spot on the way out of Finca Del Mar called "Bandito Burrito". Super delicious food and margaritas (they also deliver)! While we were out, there were some super sweet ladies that cleaned the house a couple of times. We came back to a sparkly house and they even arranged our seashell finds on the back porch table! It's the small things. =)
Be sure to book a fishing trip towards the beginning of your stay with Janelle's husband, Dan. It was definitely a highlight. We had a BLAST! One of our catches was sushi grade Sierra Mackerel! So good! Dan was even sweet enough to make us some poke with it!
Last but not least, having Janelle to help out was the cherry on top to our stay. She is an amazing manager and hostess. She exceeded all expectations and we WILL be back! Endless thanks to Janelle and Captain Dan!

Relaxation Recuperation Recreation!
We started our vacation unluckily with a car accident in Managua upon arrival and almost decided to return home. So glad we didn't!
Casa Surfside was a wonderful house! Very attractive, very neat with everything we needed for our week's stay! Janelle was fantastic in making us feel welcome and answering every question we had providing us with thorough information. We chose to have our lunch and dinners at Los Cardonnes Surf Lodge just a 10 minute walk away or 3 minute bike ride. Food was delicious! People so friendly! Enjoyed so much the simplicity of the lodge: no music, no tv just the gorgeous beach and the sound of the waves crashing against its shores. Our 2 teenage boys enjoyed surf lessons and I enjoyed a full body massage for an amazing price! We also enjoyed meeting others who were staying at the Eco Lodge. If you are a surfer ( which we are not) this was the place to be! We chose to really relax for our days here and this was the perfect place to get away from it all!

Great house!
This place is awesome. It's off the beach a bit so you have a ton of privacy (showering outside without worrying about any neighbors thinking we're nudists was so nice) and the bikes make shuttling back and forth to the beach a breeze. The house itself is very clean and really well-stocked (nice knives, everything you need in the kitchen, a nice gas grill, towels, linens, etc.), the outdoor space with hammocks is great and very nicely landscaped and the inside is big (perfect for corralling kiddos). The house by far exceeded our expectations.
Janelle and Dan were amazing. They got all our groceries for us before we arrived. We ate fabulous fresh fruit and avocados the size of our heads all week and drank killer Nicaraguan coffee and a ton of rum. Janelle went above and beyond to make sure we were having the best time possible.
The highlight of our trip was definitely the fishing charter with Dan. We saw baby dolphins, turtles and the red snapper we caught was the best fish I have ever eaten in my life. It was really cool to get on the water and see the coastline. The lodge is great and you'll spend a ton of time there (get a massage), but you'd be crazy to stay there when you could cook your own food and put ice in your rum at Casa Surfside!

Comfortable, well stocked, and charming home!
We had an amazing honeymoon at Casa Surfside! Janelle and Dan took GREAT care of us.
The house is really well-stocked, and has everything you need to cook at home, if you want to. Dan took us by the grocery store on our way in from the airport, and we cooked several of our meals at the house. We had chicken and pork out on the grill, ate a TON of fresh fruit, and of course we drank Nica coffee every morning. TIP: always buy the milk in the box :)
Each day we went down to the lodge, Los Cardones, and read books, took some amazing walks and got massages - all right on the beach. One of our highlights was releasing just-hatched sea turtles at sunset. AWESOME! We had one dinner and one breakfast there, and everything was top notch - and VERY affordable. Oh,and beers are $1.50 each. I swear we looked like a Corona commercial the whole time we were there (2 Adirondack chairs and 2 beers on the beach)!
We were there in the off-season (right at the end), and so we did not get to go out fishing on the boat, however when we go back we will definitely be doing this! Apparently, you can catch up to 20 fish a day, and even run across some sailfish, and rooster fish in addition to snapper.
Janelle threw in some extra special touches for our celebration. A bottle of bubbly and some local fruit nectar for "Pinosas"; a stick of butter when we ran out; a tiny birthday cake on my birthday while we were there, and a trip to visit the baby donkeys plus watch a few innings of baseball in the nearby town.
*sigh* It was definitely exactly what we needed. We took the relaxing version, but there was plenty to do! Surfing, horseback riding, and day trips (to volcanoes!) were all available, we just chose to recharge. My husband is already plotting his next boy's trip to Nica!

Beautiful, clean and relaxing house
This was the best place we stayed in Nica!! The house itself was very clean, new, spacious, and updated. There were cookies in the fridge upon our arrival and Janelle (who helps out the owners while they're gone) was amazingly wonderful, kind, and helpful. We loved going to the Eco lodge on a daily and nightly basis to enjoy the yoga, beach, food, bar, hammocks, massages and cabanas. Everyone that worked there and that we met while staying there was super friendly and fun! I would highly recommend this spot.

Nica dreamin
Apon arrival the home was in good and clean condition. The home was a little isolated. Walking to the beach carring a surfboard was a chore. I would suggest you use los Cardones as a base and ask to store your gear there. We found the management of the home to be outstanding. Janelle was both helpfull and a joy to wrk with. Overall the home was beautifull.

beach getaway
staid at Casa surfside with our 2 kids aged 12 and 10. house is perfect for anybody who wants a beach retreat with all modern comfort. we had access to the Los Cardones surf resort which is part of the same deal so it was ideal as a mix of relaxation/restaurant/bar there and privacy when we wanted in our house.
