About this apartment rental
A wonderful refined property with Lake, Gardens and more!
The grand Villa Margherita dates back to the 1750’s and is in fact where the famous Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi stayed and composed ‘La Traviata.’ The villa enjoys a prime central lake position along the desirable western shore making it ideally placed for guests who wish to explore the many attractions and pretty towns on Lake Como!
The villa’s well maintained grounds include a lakefront area with resident beach, boat mooring facility, children’s play area and a resident parking facility. Once guests have parked here an arched stone tunnel leads guests safely under the lake road out into the principal Villa grounds, which enjoys a sunny lake view position in a mature and serene landscaped setting.
The spacious two bedroom property is situated on the second floor of the period Villa and the accommodation is distinctive, elegant, modern and inviting with a bright and well proportioned lake view sitting room which features three comfortable sofas, a TV, dining area and a wonderful view of the Bellagio peninsular. The owner’s own tasteful and eccentric flair can be enjoyed in the property and can be seen in the original art pieces, antique furniture and modernist touches; the style being Italian distinctly works and provides both a restful and vibrant atmosphere for guests to enjoy.
A modern fully fitted kitchen with dining area provides all the desired appliances for a self-catering holiday and also enjoys a wonderful view of the lake which is perfect whilst preparing food.
The principal lake view master bedroom is beautifully furnished with antique pieces, floor to ceiling lake view windows and includes modern touches such as a flat screen TV for guests’ entertainment. From the master bedroom French doors open out onto a fabulous sunny lake view balcony terrace. An Alfresco dining set features and makes for the perfect dinner party venue, overlooking the villa’s romantic gardens and the breathtaking Lake Como with picturesque views towards Bellagio and the pretty resort town of Varenna on the eastern lakeshore.
A second spacious twin bedroom with stylish bamboo single beds and a bright and open atmosphere also features and is ideal for guests.
A contemporary newly fitted bathroom with bath tub and a second modern rustic style shower room are also situated in the property.
Guests are able to enjoy the splendid resident landscaped gardens of the villa which feature specimen trees and spectacular flower displays and are ideal for walking and relaxing in.
Smoking is not allowed.
From the villa local restaurants can be reached along the road by foot, and conveniently by car in a matter of minutes guests will reach the famous Villa Carlotta, Tremezzo cafes, bars, restaurants and lakeside park, the Cadenabbia car and passenger ferry, the famous Villa Balbianello and the picturesque resort town of Menaggio with boutique shops, Lido beach and swimming pools and charming piazzas. The pretty hillside heart of Griante should be explored and there are many fine walks to enjoy from here, to the St Martino church with its incredible lake views for example.

The apartment was on the third floor, all stone steps. No lighting on the stairway or the doorway to get a key in the lock
No AC, and since the property is right on the highway leaving the windows open wasn’t so practical if you wanted to sleep - not so great during a heat wave
Internet was offline, the management company suggested that we wait for the repair person, once it was booked.
Toilet was not working properly
Bedding was basically a single sheet left for us to put on
We moved to a hotel instead of staying. The management company seemed very practiced in the resulting conversation, no refund offered.

The location is perfect with a small private beach and many restaurants in walking distance. The only negative was that the agency did not react on and WhatsApp messages.

Villa Margharita Granda is perfectly located with beautiful views of the lake. It is a lovely authentic apartment with everything you need for a wonderfully relaxed and comfortable stay! Thank you, my husband and I and our 2 adult children have spent an amazing 6 day unforgettable holiday on lake Como!

The grounds are impeccably manicured and flowers are abundant. It was quiet in the house and if there were other guests, we never saw them. There was a friendly family living ion the property, along with a friendly dog and cat. We were worried about not having air conditioning, however the evening breeze and open windows kept us comfortable. My young adult sons enjoyed the access to the water and the green space for sun bathing and kicking the soccer ball. Be prepared to walk to the ferry and to meals. Buses were a bit tricky so be patient and expect 10-20 minutes late on the posted route times. We parked the car and never drove again. It’s an easy boat ride to Bellagio, which we did two days. Parking lot and home are very secure and we felt very safe.

This apartment was absolutely everything we wanted. On the lake but not in an overly trafficked area of Lake Como. Spacious, clean accommodations with an incredible view of the lake. Quiet and relaxing. And there was private parking!! We would certainly stay here again.

The Villa was amazing. The view was picture perfect, the garden and property incredible. Location is walking distance to Menaggio and Tremezzo, and steps away from ferry. Everything was perfect

You can't beat the location and the view from the balcony/terrace. We spent most of our time on the terrace enjoying the view of the lake and Bellagio. You will feel quite privileged as you drink wine on your balcony while the boat tours slow down in front of the historic villa and the tourists look up and wonder who you are. The villa is divided into apartments and we were the only ones there besides the property manager's family. So you do have the feeling of being on a very special place on Lake Como. The villa is centrally located and easy to walk to the Ferry and dining options. You are defiantly paying for the view and the grounds. The apartment is in need of updating, and know there are no amenities or supplies to cook with other than pots and pans. The bedroom was enjoyable and the kitchen also had a view, but the living area was not a room I wanted to spend any time in. The property management is in another town, but they were easy to deal with and left a nice welcome basket.

Exceptional place! Really gives the authentic feeling of Lake Como.
We loved the villa and will return. The only complaint is that I left some items behind and asked to have them sent. I called three times and spoke to someone but never heard back. I guess my items are gone.

Lovely place
We came into Como and had a long taxi ride to the rental office in Menagio, which was difficult to find, even by our Italian taxi driver. He drove us to villa Margherita and we didn’t know how to get into the property. A tenant helped us. We were given instructions at the rental office, but they were not conspicuous, at least to us. I called the helpline and the manager George Castillo came out to assist us and tell us where restaurants were. It would have been nice if someone had met us at the villa to orient us and show us around. George also arranged for a taxi for us back to Como, after our 3-day stay. The area is beautiful and a ferry is not too far which you can take over to Bellagio. Villa Margherita and it’s grounds are exceptional. Once we got past our initial reaction to the long taxi ride and our difficulty in getting into our apartment, we very much enjoyed our stay.

Incredible Stay.. best views for your buck..
Villa Margherita was overall a great stay in Lake Como especially if you’re there for the picturesque views of Belaggio and the lake itself. The ferry that’s down the street will connect you To Belaggio and neighboring towns, yet, I would first recommend that you get yourself a rental car since the village the villa sits in is a little farther away from any main source of city/town life. Other than that, the staff is very friendly and helpful & I hope you have a great time here!!

Fantastic view - great place
Spend 6 days in this wonderful house - apartment on 2nd floor facing the lake and a wonderful balcony with the most fantastic view to the lake.
The apartment is perfect for two persons. The extra bedroom and toilet has a low ceiling and not really comfortable.
The interior is very tasteful but the overall impression is not the best because it is fairly old and also because the most basic equipment was not in place. I.e no shower curtain, leaking dishwasher, no wash up equipment etc. something the owner easily can improve!
Wifi is good
Good parking facilities
Fantastic garden
Very central with shops, bars, cafes nearby
Swimmingpool opposite
Helpful "facility manager" lives in the ground floor apartment
We rented the place through Happy Holidays and have only positive to say.

What a treat to get to stay in this villa on the shores of Lake Como. Spacious and well appointed 2 bedroom apartment on second floor with a lovely terrace overlooking the lake. Perfect place for breakfast or late afternoon cocktails. Self catering accommodation, however no oven or toaster and no washing machine. Eclectic furnishing which were lovely however beds were very uncomfortable- for the cost of this villa one should expect a decent bed and fluffy towels - we had neither.
Main bedroom has an ensuite which is functional but basic, and the hot water is only Luke warm, second bedroo is on a mezzanine level, above the main bedroom with glass sliding panels, so don't expect too much privacy in the main bedroom. Second bathroom is barely functiona - rustic is the romantic description, but really it should be updated immediately. You need to be short to access the area without bumping your head. The views from this villa are to die for, and with a couple if new beds, some fluffy towels and hot water, it would be perfect. Guests also have access to the lakeside pool across the road.

Villa Margherita Grande
Our stay in Villa Margherita Grande was a truly wonderful experience. The apartment itself was very spacious and comfortable for us, its interior being one of a kind and carefully finished to offer us a welcoming home from home. The sunny private balcony enjoyed views of Bellagio and it was just the perfect place to read a book and drink some wine. The gardens of the villa, its history and intriguing underground tunnel were just also fascinating. Its a real gem of a holiday home!
Many thanks.

Villa Margherita Grande
We all enjoyed a glorious week on Lake Como this September. The weather was superb and best of all our holiday home was beautiful! A great setting with the best views of Bellagio and also a gorgeous landscaped garden to explore and relax in. The apartment was so spacious, quirky and comfortable. Thank you to HHH for all your unwavering help and hospitality!

Villa Margherita Grande
We chose this beautiful holiday home for several reasons..firstly my wife loves Bellagio so I thought let's find a place with views of this picture perfect resort town(!), secondly we're both artists and so love taking out family to stay in unique and beautiful settings and thirdly for location (it was within easy reach of the ferry port, restaurants and attractions of the central lake!). Villa Margherita and its gardens was such a magical place for us. Our sunny private terrace was the perfect size for alfresco dining and daytime relaxing and we really felt (without sounding too corney) like we were experiencing the very essence of Lake Como's beauty. The apartment was perfectly equipped and offered us spacious sleeping accommodation and lots of great character features. It was great to see the owner had put their stamp on the place with their fascinating art collection. So many places these days are undescriptive and forgetable..this place was not! A great place. Thanks from all of us (Charlotte, Dexter & Hugo).
