Tholos luxury villas comprise of 2 modern spacious, fully air-conditioned villas with a private pool,swim trainer, hot tub and BBQ.Resting on the exclusive east coast of Crete,the villas overlook the sea to the east and the beautiful mountain area to the north. As a family we had been looking to build in Crete for some time and fell instantly in love with the view,beautiful sunsets,absolute privacy and tranquility of the location. The villas were built 3 years ago to let out to guests but also very much as a holiday home for us all to enjoy.We grandparents share the smaller 2 bedroom villa,whilst our children and grandchildren use the larger 2 bedroom villa immediately above.The benefit of having 2 villas will allow you to spend time with friends or family but also have your own personal space.In winter months you can book just one villa knowing the other villa will remain empty for your stay.Welcome pack,TV,toys,games,books & pool toys incl. Superbly located pair of small villas. Excellent facilities (hot tub, pool, big American style fridge, etc) and wonderful, wonderful views. Beach within walking distance. Many gorge walking opportunities. Close to impressive remains of Gournia. Aghios Nikolaos, Siteia, Ierapetra all within easy reach. Beach at Vai (east) and Lasithi plateau (west) reached in under 2 hours. Great tavernas nearby, particularly at Mochlos. An ideal place to chill out away from it all. We went in October and had almost unbroken sunshine. Great mobile signal (check your roaming contract), but internet expensive and very much an add-on. Track navigable with an ordinary car but a 4X4 would ensure less risk to your hired vehicle. Make sure you cover your excess. Properties managed by a charming couple who meet you at Istron and show you the ropes.

wow - what a great place for a holiday!
2 families (7 people) hired the villa's from the lovely Katy for 2 weeks July/ August. The photo's do not do the villa's justice, and since taken the villa area has been greatly improved with new glass / aluminium fencing. The access to the villa's is a little challenging ( 2 different ways to go) and not recommended in the dark but we soon got used to it!
The villa's are nicely appointed with all mod - cons and great air -con( essential)! The hot water was plentiful and the plumbing worked a treat!! We loved the ice maker in the freezer and the dishwasher in the top villa was a useful luxury!
The weather was perfect - if a little windy, but that made the high 30's heat bearable. The pool was ideal for cooling off and the hot tub a perfect luxurious end to the day whilst watching the sun set.
The villa's were well maintained by a lovely English couple who could not do more for us when they visited.
The local area's are quiet but typically Greek and we made the most of the supplied info and our own research to have meals out and day trips by car and boat.

Fabulous
This year we returned to Tholos Bay with friends, and then after a few days in Athens rented a villa on Kea with other friends. Sadly the second one was not through HomeAway and the deliberate misdescriptions (including number of bedrooms and bathrooms) on another well-known site were mind-awakening.
Tholos Bay is exactly as described. It is totally surrounded by undeveloped land so is totally private. It is clearly much-loved and cared-for. We definitely plan to return a third time.

Stunning views, private villas and utterly relaxin
What an amazing week we have just had at Tholos Bay Villas. Before we even got there we felt so looked after by the owners; they gave us so much information on the villas and surrounding area and made sure we had everything we needed, including buying us a blender so we could puree baby food!!
When we arrived (at midnight!!) we were met by Bob and Jill, who look after the villas. They gave us an excellent tour of the villas and made us feel right at home. We settled in well, however the next morning we had a power cut that lasted the morning. Bob arrived within an hour and lent us a gas stove to use - so efficient! They were so helpful.
We visited with friends who stayed in the other villa which was perfect. We both have young children so having our own space was ideal. They were close enough for us to link up a baby monitor between the two so we could eat together in the evenings.
The villas were very well equipped for self catering including a brilliant american fridge freezer which had filtered ice cold water and ice. The BBQ was also excellent and we had many lovely meals outside. Plenty of areas for sitting in the sun and shade plus the sun loungers were very comfy!
Not much time to relax due to our 3 year old and 6 month old keeping us on our toes but we loved playing in the pool (which was little chilly but we got used to it). There was also a lot of pool toys which was great for the kids and board games for us adults to enjoy in the evenings.
The weather for early October was perfect - 25-30 degress - and a very welcome breeze made being outside in the sun very comfortable.
The hot tub at the smaller villa was such a treat and easy to alter the temperature so the children could go in.
We enjoyed exploring the local villages and especially liked going to a little fishing village called Mochlos. Excellent taverna's and stunning stoney beach (small) with crystal clear waters. Our three year old loved swimming in the sea and it was so warm. We also ate at the taverna at Tholos beach which was fun - more of a van/shack than a taverna but still had some yummy food, cold beers and raki!
There are good supermarkets in Agios Nikolaos and Lerapetra but the local one in Kavousi was a little 'random' so I wouldn't rely on it for your weekly shop.
All in all an extremely relaxing and fun week and we are already thinking of planning a trip back! We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone wanting a relaxing, private holiday.

Thank you for the most glorious ten days at Tholos Bay villas! The weather was perfect and the children were in heaven swimming every day in the pool. Tholos luxury villas
We stayed at Tholos Luxury Villas for 2 weeks and had a wonderful time. The villas were beautifully appointed with a wonderful view across the hills and down to Tholos bay. They were very well equipped, maintained and extremely comfortable. The children loved the pool and it was wonderful to watch the sun set from the hot tub. The villas more than met our expectations and had been very well described and photographed. The villas were spotlessly clean and we benefitted from a mid stay clean and linen change too.
We felt that the owners could not have been more helpful. We were given plenty of information concerning directions, places to visit and tips on how to make the most of our stay. We also took up the offer of a pre arrival shop though many of the items which I requested were already provided in the complimentary welcome pack (which also included a very much appreciated bottle of wine). Pre-cooked meals were also offered and we were pleased to make use of this excellent service.
I would not hesitate to recommend the villas to friends and family and would love to return at some time in the future.

A view that will never tire!
The setting of Tholos villas is breath-taking, whether having breakfast next to the pool as the sun has just risen, or whilst enjoying a BBQ under a dark sky, abundant with twinkly stars. I would never tire of the view of the surrounding hills and cove below. Not only a stunning setting, the villas are also wonderfully equipped and handy for a paddle in the turquoise sea or a trip to the local village for a taste of local life. I would love these villas as our holiday home!

Absolutely Amazing!
Tholos Bay villas are simply out of this world and the perfect location to escape to and unwind. The villas themselves are extremely luxurious and everything has been very well thought out, especially in terms of providing for families with small children. Tholos bay provides something for everyone with lots to see and do on your doorstep but yet due to the secluded location you can simply relax there taking in the fantastic views and luxurious setting.

We rent this house for friends in AUGUST 2010
8 friends of us wanted to visit the east of CRETE. ( we are leaving in the center of Crete). We find those villas and exchange some mails with Gilly. Then we meet Alistair in Ierapetra. The two houses are very well located, very confortable, every thing is very well though. Our friends loved this place, every room is very well designed and pratical. If I had to find something again, I should of course join Gilly. Annelyn

Tholos bay is a winner
This is a great little holiday spot outside of the tourist trail, but still with so much to see and do. You can go for a walk around old authentic Kavousi town, swim to the island just off Mochlos (its pretty neighbouring village) and take you pick of a number of great beaches to relax on. The sound of cicadas rise out of the silver olive trees in the valley and throb in your ears and in July it is impossible to resist the swimming pool to cool off. The villas are fantastic - with great sunset views and all the comfort you would expect. Definitely planning our return..

More than we expected
We all had a great time – the facilities are great and I think we lost track of the day and time after day 3 – mission accomplished!!

Simply amazing
We stayed in Villa Giorgina in May. What a fabulous location! The villa is wonderfully equipped and the view is to die for. We shall definitely go back.
We managed to swim in both the pool and the sea (the latter a bit chilly in May!)
Mochlos, Ierapetra and Agios Nikolaos are all relatively close and great to visit. We also spent a couple of nights at Plakias on the rugged south coast (2.5 hours drive away) to where we shall also return.
We found the local people everywhere very friendly and welcoming.
Strongly recommended.

Perfect view, villa and vacation
We stayed at Villa Giorgina, the larger villa of the two in October last year (2009). We were slightly worried the weather may not be at its best, but I can tell you the weather at that time of the year is perfect, so don't worry about it.
The first thing that strikes you is the fantastic, breath taking view from the villa. As you look out to the left is a a valley filled with spectacular olive trees and to the right a stunning seascape bay view of Tholos Bay. The perfect view for a 6pm G&T at the end of a long day sun-bathing or exploring the island!
Talking of exploring, the Villas are well located on Crete. A good distance away from the more touristy (West) part of Crete, but not too far and a great base to explore some of the gems in the eastern part of the island.
The Villas really do cater for all. We are a couple and at the time my wife was pregnant, so for us it was a great place to chill and prepare for the nappies! You'll be met by a couple who'll make you feel at home and show you that there really is nothing that you will need that isn't already found at the villa...including a pool with a view and hot tub!!
The perfect place to relax and recharge.

A great set up in a beautiful location
We had an amazing week at this beautiful double villa location. We went with another family and loved having a villa each to allow us some privacy and yet spend the days together either at the beach or by the pool. The appliances are all top of the range and over all we were exceptionally happy. Thank you to Alistair and Suzanne also for the welcome meet and for helping us settle in.

A beautiful family escape
We have a one year old boy and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Villa Giorgina, the larger villa. It was very comfortable and child friendly and an exquisite setting. It is very private but close to good quality and good value local restaurants and beaches. We were well looked after on arrival and a charming couple made sure we had settled in and knew where everything was, as well as leaving some food for us. In short every whim was catered for and we could not recommend the villa highly enough.
