About this villa rental
Villa Elia is a beautiful property that was originally built as a family home – giving it the space, level of comfort and ambiance not normally found in a purpose-built holiday home. The villa stands in four acres of lovely grounds at the end of a private country lane and is not overlooked. Surrounded by lawns, flowering shrubs, pine and citrus trees, it provides a peaceful, private and secluded oasis - yet has the convenience of being only a five minute drive from huge sandy beaches of Kalamaki and a vast selection of restaurants, tavernas and shops in both Kalamaki and Argassi.
The sunny main terrace leads onto the pool terrace with its substantial sparkling pool which is serviced daily, a shady pergola and stunning views. To the side of the villa is another vine covered terrace and full size dining table and chairs - the perfect place for eating with its fabulous backdrop of the bay on one side and the harbour and Zante Town on the other. There is also a third, raised terrace in the garden with stunning sunset views over the western hills.
Inside the property is a spacious open plan living area with a large, comfortably furnished lounge, internet flat screen television with BBC, ITV etc. channels, DVD player and music system with bluetooth (bring your iPod as there is a hook up via the amplifier!). You’ll also find some homely touches like bookshelves loaded with books, a selection of board games and a great choice of films on DVD. There’s even a wifi connection.
The farmhouse style kitchen has a table that seats six and lots of storage, plus fridge freezer, a dishwasher, full sized oven and a microwave. Elia really is a home from home, and comes fully equipped with everything you could need – including the kitchen sink! There is a vegetable garden where you can pick your own.
Zakynthos is proud to be the first Marine Park protected area in the Mediterranean due to its beaches being the chosen nesting place of the caretta caretta (turtles). As a result, all development in the Park is forbidden, allowing Elia to enjoy wonderful solitude whilst at the same time benefiting from the convenience of nearby beaches and resorts.
Zakynthos, or Zante as it is more commonly known, is also referred to as the ‘Flower of the Ionian’ in recognition of the island’s exceptional beauty. The locals are renowned for their true Greek hospitality, which no doubt accounts for why so many holidaymakers return to the island time and time again.
Geographically the island is the most southern of the six Ionian Islands and is located off western mainland Greece. It has a Mediterranean climate with long hot summers and warm wet winters (making it very green and fertile).
The capital Zakynthos Town with its shops, museums, restaurants, bars and outdoor cinema, is architecturally extremely attractive and full of the influence and culture of its Italian ancestors.

I stayed with my family, 3 children all under 10.
The villa is in a very secluded location with fab views over the sea and sunsets in the evening.
The villa was very homely and comfortable with a stocked fridge and eveything you might need to hand. We were very well looked after.
The location was on the top of hill and very peaceful but only 10 minutes from the airport and to the nearest sandy beach.
We would love to stay again.

A lovely villa with amazing views to Zakynthos Town on one side and Kalamaki bay on the other. Elevated away from the hustle and bustle which was very relaxing. Midnight swims in the illuminated pool and barbeques on the terrace made for a wonderful holiday.

A Perfect Holiday
We have just returned from Villa Elia and everything was wonderful. John, the owner, was very helpful and understanding, from when we first booked the villa to actually going as travel was rather uncertain due to Covid but it all went very smoothly. He arranged for Spiro to meet us at the airport and he showed us to the villa. He and his wife Maria are lovely and gave us lots of information. There was a nice welcome pack with lots in the fridge on our arrival. The villa is in a great location, secluded and peaceful but just a short drive to some lovely restaurants, supermarkets and beaches. We were a party of 4 adults and 3 children and there was everything we could possibly have wanted in the villa. The views are amazing and the pool is a great size, bigger than average, and Spiro cleaned it every day. We had a brilliant time and were sorry we had to leave.
Our thanks to John, Spiro and Maria.

THE most stunning location.
We have rented many villas in a variety of countries but Villa Elia offered the most beautiful views. The outside space from the front drive with beautiful old olive trees afforded beautiful views over Zakynthos Town and the terrace surrounding the pool gave beautiful views towards Kalamaki and beyond. The pool was an absolute joy and the beautifully planted and large terrace and all the shady areas were all one could ask for. Inside had everything we needed and the air conditioning in the bedroom was very welcome. Villa Elias location is superb for nearby towns plus local restaurants and supermarkets for ‘provisioning’. Spiros and Maria who met us at the airport and showed us to the villa were delightful and helpful with tips and suggestions. The only downside to our week at Villa Elia was that our holiday was too short we’ll be back for much longer next time. Thank you John

Superb Villa!
We absolutely loved Villa Elia. The villa is spacious, very comfortable, completely private and just as described. The setting is breathtakingly beautiful with stunning views on all sides.
The interior living space is great and lined with a terrific library of books - however, our weather was wonderful so all our time was spent outside where we made very good use of the fantastic huge pool.
Good base from which to visit Zakynthos Town and explore the beautiful island (if you can manage to drag yourselves away from the Villa) and we were particularly delighted to find some excellent wine tastings - most enjoyable Grampsas and Art & Wine. Who knew Zakynthos had such splendid wine!
We were given such a warm welcome by Spiro and his lovely family who guided us to the house and look after the property. They so generously gave us produce from Maria's garden - what a treat! Spiro is on hand if you need him but totally unobtrusive.
John is a great communicator and very helpful during the easy booking process.
I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to anyone and, if we return to Zakynthos in the future, we would definitely choose to stay in Villa Elia again.

The villa is prefect!! It's on the south end of the island close to everything you need, yet away from the hustle and bustle of the more popular areas, so you can really relax and truly get away from everything.
The villa is well equipped with everything that you need, the pool is fabulous and all the rooms are a good size. The views are breathtaking. A big thank you to John and to Debbie for such a brilliant holiday.

You could not find a more perfect retreat - perched above Kalamaki at the end of a secluded road with panoramic sea views on both sides, this delightful villa offers everything you could need and want on your holiday. The pool is particularly welcome, beautifully clean and so inviting, the perfect way to cool off in 30+ degrees! The kitchen is very well equipped for eating in if you don't want to venture out to any of the numerous, reasonable, scrumptious tavernas. Apart from relaxing by the pool, the villa also has strategically positioned seating spots for making the most of the views, shady reading or enjoying a chilled glass of wine watching the sun go down. Thanks to John (the owner) for helping to make our stay so successful, you can tell he loves his villa & that's why it feels so homely, he's such a sweetie! You will definitely need to hire a car to access the villa but this will also enable you to explore this beautiful island.

We stayed here for a week in June with our 9 month old son & it was lovely. The weather was amazing, which always helps! Debbie met us at the airport & we followed her to the villa in our hire car, a must if staying here, we definitely wouldn't have found it otherwise. Debbie had left water, bread, beer, wine & fruit for us which was great as it was evening when we arrived. Debbie also gave us some great tips on where to go & general directions to the supermarket & petrol station. The villa was perfect for our holiday, the views & pool were second to none & our son loved swimming every day. Due to us having a young son we didn't venture out in the evenings much (only once) & due to location, I didn't fancy the drive in the dark! So, we made the most of eating Al fresco & enjoyed a glass of wine with amazing views when our son had gone to bed. Debbie got us a high chair seat booster which was invaluable for our stay & will be a good asset for future guests. The gardener & pool man Spiros & his wife Maria are lovely & brought us fresh fruit from their garden & eggs from the chickens, their daughter even gave our son a teddy bear as a gift. We went to visit their animals & orchard which was interesting to see.
In all, a very enjoyable stay & would happily return, thank you.

This was our second stay at Villa Elia - we loved it so much the first time we just had to return. And, if anything, it was even better than before.
Perfect location, beautiful villa, amazing views, fantastic pool… the list just goes on and on.
It feels like so much more than a holiday villa: little touches like all the books and DVDs, the comprehensive range of equipment in the kitchen and the visitors' book full of invaluable information from the owner all made it feel more like a home from home (if only our home was quite so stunning!).
Our return visit more than met our (extremely high) expectations - and I'm sure we'll be back again as soon as we can.

A lovely family villa in a superb position. The villa had everything we needed and Bob was very helpful. The sea views both front and back were really fantastic and we loved the island itself. In 10 days we explored a different beach most days, usually leaving the villa around 2-3pm and coming home around 8pm ready to shower and go out for a tasty, simple supper in nearby Kalamaki or Zante. Don't think the only place to eat is along the port in Zante - drive towards the main port car park and find the square on the left - this marks the beginning of a great selection of restaurants and bars - really buzzy vibe, music and perfect for late night eating and drinking! Would love to visit again

The villa is set up in the hills with stunning views of the island - Kalamaki, Zakynthos Town and for those plane spotters, the airport! We were met at the airport by Bob who guided us to the villa (we may have had trouble finding it otherwise) and who did a cracking job of cleaning the pool and sorting the barbecue out for us (even though we didn't actually get round to using it).Everything you need is in the villa - two fridge freezers, oven and hob, toaster although it didn't appear to work, air conditioning in the bedrooms and a temperamental satellite TV system along with an extensive collection DVDs and books. The all-important WiFi was a must for two teenage girls.Barbara did an excellent job of cleaning and changing the linen twice a week and Cath even provided us with a new salad dish! The pool was excellent - large and clean and our girls loved it. It was great to be able to swim in a private pool on a beautiful warm night with the pool lights on. A car is a necessity to stay here but the resort of Kalamaki is only a few minutes down the road and full of tavernas and bars as well as a beautiful beach and turtles if you're lucky. Zakynthos Town is not much further away if you want to do some proper shopping. If you're looking for a place away from it all but still close enough to the resorts then this is the perfect choice and we will certainly recommend it to our friends and family.

Beautiful Villa with stunning views
This was our first visit to Villa Elia but it definitely won't be our last! From the moment we booked it, to our arrival right through to coming home everything was absolutely perfect. If you want to have total peace and quiet with a stunning sea view you have to book Villa Elia, it is so well equipped with beautiful furniture, 3 lovely big bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There was a lovely welcome pack with everything you need and it was spotlessly clean with a gorgeous terrace and large swimming pool. The photos don't really do it justice. It is not far from the airport and although you have a brilliant view of the runway the planes never bother you. You would need to hire a car to stay here, there are beautiful beaches to explore all around the island and a boat trip to the shipwreck at Navagio is a must. There is a great waterpark at Sarakinado too. Kalamaki village is so welcoming and just the right size with fantastic restaurants (Olive Tree, Dias, Michealo's and Boun Amici are our favourites) and a beautiful crazy golf course on the way to the beach but Zakynthos Town is close by too. The locals are all so friendly and welcoming you will definitely want to go back!

Spacious and comfortable villa with amazing views
We had a great week here in June. The villa was very clean and extremely well-equipped . It is off the beaten track, set high on the hillside ; watching the sunset from the top terrace was a high point of each day for us. Our teenagers made very good use of the pool which was immaculately kept. We self-catered most of the time and really appreciated the two fridges and the BBQ. The hire car that the owner organised for us and the groceries waiting for us on arrival were very much appreciated. We had no criticism or complaints at all but the internet was very erratic whilst we were in residence so the property might not suit TV addicts. (The males of our party had to watch the England world cup match from a local bar which they said, in retrospect, was much better than staying in.)
This property really has a special feel to it, welcoming and homely ; we fell in love with it and would very much hope to return.

A little piece of paradise
We stayed for a week but would have loved to have stayed for longer. The Villa was so lovely, with the most beautiful views of the sea and surrounding countryside. Charmingly decorated in a lovely traditional Grecian way - we loved the feel of the whole place, with pretty blue shutters and white walls. Little touches like the bookshelves stacked with paperback to read by the pool, a pretty rose garden to enjoy, and hammock for dozing in after those long lazy lunches on the terrace. Bliss.
Location wise - there was also so much to do and see - and really something for every one - we we're thrilled with just how well placed the villa location was. Lovely restaurants a few minutes drive, a wonderful sandy beach, fab shopping and even a water park for our 'thrill seeking' teenagers - all within a short distance.
Ultimately though, on the days we did explore the lovely island of Zakynthos, what we always looked forward to the most was retuning to Villa Elia at it's wonderful hillside location; the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the med while sampling a glass or two of the lovely chilled local wine. Warm moonlit swims in the private pool were regular and wonderful ways to end our days.
Villa Elia - a little piece of Kalamakian paradise we'll truly never forget!

You will not be disappointed with Villa Elia
Having travelled around the Mediterranean and Europe this turned out to be one of my most favourite holidays. Staying in Villa Elia to me captured the essence of Zakynthos. Olive plantations stretched out below, the blue sea and island views from the patio. Just off the main hub of Kalamaki but access within minutes to beaches, tavernas and shops. The privacy gained from Villa Elias location is priceless but not at the expense of being remote. Stunning views of Laganas Bay are from your pool and the night view of Zante town lit like a jewel from the front of the house. There is the most perfect neighbour with Spiros and his family at the entrance to the driveway who may drop of fresh vegetables from his garden for your salads. Bob, the villa manager is a font of information for all shopping, car hire and travel tips. With beautiful walks from the villa doorstep to the beach for the active you will be treated to the sight of flocks of goldfinch massing around the olive groves. Do use the guest book in the villa as there are some accurate reviews of local restaurants to get you to the best food and locations from the start. We will return.

Worth the money, best for families & small groups
Quite and away from everything so your children can play (even scream), adults benefit from the vast terrace space, BBQ and late-night swim. Yet close to town and villages with shops, taverns and many beautiful beaches and other places. A car is definitively needed. The close airport and radio antenna do not disturb at all. Really well-equipped (not the typical minimum holiday standard; dish-washer was however put away because of high mineral content in water), appreciated pool & house cleaning and towel/linen services (twice weekly). Overall, worth the money, best for families (infants and small children to be looked after at any time due to large pool and close cliffs without fence) and for small adult groups (up to 6). We loved it and would recommend to all our friends looking for relaxing Greek holiday (only few touristic attractions to be visited on The island - no really for those interested in geek ancient culture). Thank you for a wonderful holiday !

Better than we anticipated
Just returned from a fabulous holiday at Villa Elia. Having paid more than we normally would have for our accommodation, our expectations were high – and we certainly weren’t disappointed. The location is even better than you described and the pool is much larger than the average. The weather was perfect and we were really well looked after by Bob and Cathy and Spiro the gardener, who brought us fresh vegetables and wine.
From being met at the airport to departure we could not have wished for a better villa or staff.
Thank you - we will definitely be returning.

Excellent holiday
We had a wonderful holiday at Villa Elia. It's in a stunning out of the way location, but it doesn't feel isolated. I can still picture the fabulous views of Laganas and Kalamaki from the pool. We chose this villa for its privacy and views and we weren't disappointed. With two young children the pool was essential for us and it was a lovely pool for a family - not too deep and close to the house. We visited numerous beaches in this part of Zakynthos and all were very good.
I would not hesitate to recommend this house for a relaxing getaway to remember.
We met Bob who was very helpful and gave us some tips for how to navigate the island.
Many thanks.

Villa Elia
We had a great relaxing holiday at villa Elia. We were met by Bob and Cath at the airport and withn 10 mins we were in the villa and starting to relax.
The villa exceeded our expectations with uninterrupted views over Kalamaki and Laganas Bay in one direction and Zakynthos town in the other direction.
This has been our third visit to the island so we knew what to expect of the island and the people exceptionally friendly and warm.
The pool was the best we have had in any villa we have stayed in. The location of the villa is ideal with it being set on the hillside but only 5 mins away from beaches, shops and restaurants. The villa is in an ideal position to explore the South of the island.
One big bonus for us was that when the weather was too hot our youngest could go inside and watch 'normal' tv and for our teenagers listening to radio 1 while outside. It kept them happy.
Another very good idea was the variety of books, cd's and dvd's available.
All in all the villa was superb in an amazing location and i would heartily recommend this as a great holdiday destination.
thanks very much for sharing it with us.

Just Perfect!
A truly gorgeous Villa! We literally couldn't have wished for a better location and property. Bob and Kath were so welcoming, and were really helpful and willing to help whenever we needed. It was just the most perfect holiday.
Far enough away from the hustle and bustle to feel secluded and 'Special' without feeling alienated. Sea views from both sides - Amazing!!

I cannot recommend it highly enough.
The best villa I have stayed in, in more than 15 years of visiting Greece. An absolutely perfect location. If you have ever dreamed of staying in a lovely villa set in your own hilltop grounds bathed in Greek sunshine, with fabulous views and total privacy, then this is the place for you!
A spacious, comfortable villa with room to wander around inside and out. The huge paved terraces and large, clean pool were superb - and inside we had everything we could have needed, including a great selection of books! I understand that Villa Elia was originally the owner's home, and it shows. Far more comfortable and better equipped than you would normally expect to find. We were reluctant to leave it to explore the rest of the island or go down to the beach.
Would love to go back again!
