So many things to see and do, without the crowd. Historic River House is nestled on the beautiful Shenandoah River with a spectacular year round river front view and private boat dock with a included canoe and optional paddle boat rental. We had such a great time, never had to leave the property !! Cant wait to go back !!

Great spot to gather with friends. Grilling, campfires, and canoeing. We were able to sleep 4 adults and 4 kids (9, 11, 11, 16) comfortably. Easy access to Shenandoah. Surrounded by beautiful and peaceful farmland. Short walk to the water's edge. Host was very accomodating and solved a couple small issues promptly.

Right on the Shenandoah. Beautiful Scenery. Relaxing time on the river, and Covered Porch.
Good early Morning Coffee Views in all directions. Close to town, although doesn’t feel like it. Host Scot very responsive and helpful. Will be back. Definitely recommend!

I was looking for a spot to relax and recharge so the quiet farm setting was the prescription I needed. Seeing cows and Mr. Donkey made me smile every morning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was perfect and the farm was so much fun. We loved getting back to some peace and quiet. This is a phenomenal house and was a picture perfect stay.

We were looking for a few quiet, relaxing days, and that was exactly what we got. The property is rustic and simple, with a beautiful view of the Shenandoah river. The property is well kept, with a grill, fire pit and hot tub. The decor is beautiful antique. We greatly enjoyed relaxing in the sitting room, talking and reading. I walked around the house and used Google lens to identify the portraiture throughout the house; very interesting! The swift run gap entrance to skyline drive is right up the road, making for an easy trip to hike and see waterfalls. It's far enough out from big cities that the night sky was magnificent. Definitely keeping this one for future visits.

The river house was the perfect setting to kick off spring break for our kids. We brough our dogs who were as happy as could be chasing balls through the yard and watching the cows in the pasture. My husband and kids enjoyed fishing off the dock and taking a trip down the river in the canoe. And we all enjoyed evenings soaking in the hottub. So much beauty to soak in throughout the valley and this location was absolutely delightful. Thank you for letting us stay!

Great location. DARK at night. Secluded. Comfortable house. The one bath is in the first level, so if you have to use the bathroom at night you have to walk down some steep steps. Otherwise, good property. I’d definitely stay there again. Property manager was very nice and helpful.

We loved our anniversary trip at Soct’s home! Very comfortable home, everything was as stated. Scot was very accommodating and responsive. Beautiful home, very comfortable bed, lovely area, we plan to visit again! Enjoyed the cows coming to visit also! Thank you!

This is a very old well-kept historic river front home nestled in the Shenandoah Valley near the Massanutten Resort. We come every year for our after Christmas ski trip and stay in different VRBOs each time. This one we would use again. It was surprisingly warm one of the days so we used the canoe and paddle boat (though we recommend you replace the ropes as one rope got stuck in the paddle boat wheel and the ropes are in bad shape). The kids (college age) LOVED going on the river! We also used the hot tub a couple times. We ran out of time to use the fire pit or grill, but those are nice options. The home was well stocked with all kitchen amenities, games, towels, basic supplies, etc. The beds in the adult bedrooms were very comfortable. The bunk beds weren't as comfortable, but were fine for their purpose. There's a TV with lots of cable options in every room, the wifi worked great, and we found a few games and cards which we used. The only thing that would have been nice to have on site was some laundry pods as we had some muddy towels from boating we needed to wash and had to go to the store to buy laundry detergent. Overall, we loved our stay and the owners were very communicative and easy to work with.

Nice location
Very nice location and comfortable house. Suited our needs well.

Our family had a relaxing time and even though it feels like the country, there are restaurants and shops less than 15 minutes away.
We would certainly consider staying again.

Property was beautiful. We had a wonderful time. The linens and towels were provided. That was a huge plus with so many people. River access was a little challenging due to steps needing repair. Found a spot down the road to gain river access. Bunk bed mattresses were not as comfortable as the two queen beds. All in all it was a great get away.

We really enjoyed our time here. Our border collie absolutely loved barking at all the cows just next door and the large yard to play in. Brand new mattresses to boot!

Great vacation!
We enjoyed our stay! Great location! Quite & relaxing time! We enjoyed the hot tub and had a great time finishing on the river. Our only suggestion would be to put a picnic table down at the river for guests to enjoy.

This was an absolutely awesome place to stay! Beautiful views of Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah River. Clean house with comfortable beds and spacious bedrooms! Wonderful large and spacious kitchen. Absolutely loved being in a historic farmhouse. The sofa/bed is not really usable so would suggest bringing an air mattress for sleeping or watching TV, but we could see why it enhances the historic decor of the living room! We had an absolutely wonderful, relaxing time and most enjoyed waking up and having coffee on the porch watching the cows in the morning. Our dogs had the best time they have ever had in the extremely large yard where they could safely run and play. Loved the firepit and hot tub, always prerequisites for us. We will definitely be back, hopefully next fall, with more family members.

Loved it!
The house was perfect for our family of 6 and our dog. When we came across issues in the house, the property manager responded immediately and addressed our concerns. We loved everything about the house: the layout, the location, and the amenities.

Great place to stay!
The listing was accurate. The house was clean and equipped with the necessities (towels, linens, tp, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, silverware, etc.). The check in and check out process was very easy and we did not have any problems during our stay. This property was close to Massanutten Resort and Harrisonburg. The house was a good size for 3 adults and 4 kids. Peaceful property with nice views.

Great get away from the city.
It was clean and nice. Enjoyed the jacuzzi. The only thing we would have liked is a sturdier table, it didn’t seem safe for my kids to eat at the end of the table. But otherwise it was a nice house to relax and enjoy the view.

Nice little country house
We stayed here for the proximity to the Swift Run Gap entrance to Skyline Drive. Enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the hot tub and the scenery. The cows provided much entertainment for us as well!
