When we arrived we found an envelope posted on the outside door with a note and our room key. We were to go in and sign the book. Our room was up stairs and identified by name. In the envelope we were informed since the dining room painting was not completed they were giving us $20 cash to go to breakfast locally. We never saw any staff during our entire stay. It was an unusually hot muggy day and there was no air conditioning as stated. I called and got a response that since it was early the air-conditioning hadn't gone on but someone would come and install a window unit, which they did while we were out. A small living room area was available to us as we entered on the first floor but everything else was closed. It appeared the B & B had not opened yet for the season including the inside areas, out-door sitting areas, pool and gardens, so what we experienced was not what we anticipated at all from the website and previous B & B experiences elsewhere. In addition there was an inappropriate charge of $250 for cleaning for an extended stay and we only stayed one night. We have been unsuccessful in having it removed by booking.com so our credit card company has become involved in assisting us.

It would have been better and appropriate if we had been informed it was not opened yet and so services were not as expected. Also to be greeted by our inn keeper would have been much appreciated. The past reviews were glowing and positive so it was very disappointing to be hosted in this way.

The location of the property was walking distance to town. I liked that the property had a pool.

Tiny space, not the space we originally booked, no notice of change of accommodations even though we booked 4 months in advance, no access to main house or it’s amenities, door did not always lock, no breakfast or reasonable substitute.

Location was great (close to downtown, in a beautiful historic property); rooms were clean; staff was very friendly and helpful

I understand that it was due to new pandemic related regulations that coffee machine and fridge were removed from the room and breakfast was not provided. However, it was inconvenience and it should have been reflected in the price, but it was not.
