About this house rental
Set on 17 acres, the Mill House is located in Megalong Valley, a beautiful 9km drive from the quaint village of Blackheath in the Upper Blue Mountains and 2 hours from Sydney.
It is a character filled two story cottage, best suited to two couples or a couple with one or two children. This welcoming, tastefully decorated cottage provides everything to make a few days escape comfortable and memorable.
Plush comfy beds entice you to take advantage of the escarpment views in the king room and mountain views in the queen room, a relaxing way to begin each day. (Please note the king bed can also be made up as 2 king singles.). Day night roller blinds give you the perfect opportunity to make the most of a lie in, or a well deserved afternoon nap.
The inviting lounge area leads onto three outside sitting areas, all of which take advantage of mountain views and native wildlife.
The front verandah provides the perfect place to take in the mountain view while lounging with a cuppa or a drink, or dining with family and friends.
Sink into comfy chairs in front of an open wood fire on chilly nights on the covered rear verandah or cool off under the ceiling fan while alfresco dining in warmer weather.
Feel at home cooking up a feast in the large well equiped kitchen, while family and friends chat around the intimate rustic dining table.
Children, and big kids, can have a bit of fun with totem tennis, quoits and skittles, along with giant noughts and crosses, giant pick up sticks and hopscotch. For indoor activities, there is a selection of board games and cards.
Being a 2 minute walk from the iconic Megalong tea rooms and 25 minutes drive to Katoomba and all it's sights, the Mill House offers the perfect getaway for those wanting to relax or explore the valley and surrounding areas and towns.

Absolutely loved our stay at “The Mill House” in Megalong Valley.
Excellent communication from the host Jill.
The property and house are well maintained and very clean. Also beautifully styled with country charm.
House has all the creature comforts you could ask for. Perfect for a family of four.
Loved the outdoor fire place and we made use of the BBQ. Lots of sitting areas to make use of the views and relax in the sunshine or shade if you prefer.
Kids loved the lawn games and exploring the property.
Stunning views, easy walk to the cafe at the Megalong Tea House and a great quiet base for a blue mountains weekend away.
Would highly recommend and can’t fault anything about our stay.

Great time in Megalong Valley where I would take my kids every year in the winter when they were young. Mill House was better than perfect for family trip with 20 month old granddaughter and kids. Jenny & Mark are great hosts

Ideal to kick back and relax. Away from the hustle and bustle but close enough if you want to be involved. Close to wineries and walking tracks.
Plenty of space and games to keep the children occupied.
Already planning a return visit.

We had a fabulous stay at the Mill House. This accommodation has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. A fully equipped kitchen with all that you need, comfortable beds and so many choices of where to sit outside and relax. The outdoor fire was fantastic to relax with a glass of red and listen to music. Jill and Mark were lovely hosts and easy to correspond with. As others have mentioned, the welcome slice was well received as was the bottle of bubbles for my birthday. Such thoughtful touches to make you feel welcome. Thank you for allowing us to stay in the Mill House. We had a great time.

We absolutely loved The Mill House! Such a beautiful spot, pretty scenery, peaceful. We were welcomed with a yummy homemade slice waiting on the kitchen table, a lovely touch. The hosts have thought of everything to make it an enjoyable and comfortable stay, from board games, outdoor games, books, DVDs, a very well equipped kitchen, so many varieties of tea, heating and the outdoor fireplace was a hit, and with it all ready to just light up! We will be back!

We've stayed at Mill House several times now and I find it the perfect stay for our family to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The house is immaculately presented, clean and comfortable for us. We also enjoy playing the games available and especially the outside fireplace which is always a hit with the kids. Thank you Jill and Mark for a wonderful wedding anniversary stay at the Mill House.
It all started with great initial communication, answering my questions, then perfect clear directions.
We arrived (later then we expected) to find a great looking property with lights on, all denoting a warm welcome,
Entered and found a lovely note with some delicious old hedgehog slice...Thank you.
A warm and inviting home, perfectly laid out, a fantastically well stocked kitchen with plenty of utensils and other equipment.
Loved the outdoor fire, with plenty of dry firewood, The fire already set up to light. On the 2nd night we used the grill plate above the fire to cook our steaks! What a great experience.
Lots of outdoors games, indoor games and lots of outdoor (comfy) seating to take in every view possible.
All in all a great property with everything you need. Thoroughly recommended

Such a beautiful, peaceful and comfortable place. The Mill House was perfect for our 2 night visit to the Megalong Valley for a wedding in a nearby vineyard.
2 lovely large bedrooms on the top floor with comfortable beds and great blockout blinds were perfect for a sleep-in. The kitchen had everything we needed and more, we didn't cook much during our visit but it was so well supplied we could have easily. The roomy yet cosy living area was a terrific place to read my book after I had spent a couple of lazy hours doing the same on the verandah while chatting with the local magpies.
The outdoor areas are extensive with plenty of tables & chairs. We eyed off the area with a fireplace and made a mental note how pleasant it would be in winter time. The gardens are extensive and very restful to gaze upon as you relax. I hope I can visit again!

What an amazing place! Pictures not do it justice, such a quiet place and lovely surroundings, Jill & Mark are fantastic hosts and the house had everything we needed plus so many extras that other places just dont do. Lots of wildlife to see and outdoor space was amazing with so many areas to sit and a hugh open outdoor fire which we didnt need as lovely weather but a really good extra. Thank you for making this a great part of our Oz trip! Mel & Steve xxx

The Millhouse is in a beautiful, private & peaceful setting, with gorgeous outlooks in every direction from numerous indoor and outdoor living areas. The house and furnishings are supremely comfortable, and the host took exceptional care to think of every detail and was very generous in provisioning the house for us. We loved our few days here!!

I booked The Mill House for a two night getaway with my partner and two friends and could not recommend this property more highly for a relaxing retreat. The property is absolutely gorgeous and secluded, immaculately kept grounds backing onto stunning bushland with a great mountain view. As a wildlife lover the property had a lot to offer with dozens of different birds, kangaroos and wombats all stopping by during our time there. The Mill House itself also exceeded expectations. It has multiple outdoor seating areas with different outlooks perfect for relaxing with a drink in hand in the evening. The modern kitchen and laundry were incredibly well stocked with anything you could possibly need and the bedrooms and living area were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The location is a convenient short drive to shops and Blackheath and walking distance to the very cute Megalong Valley tearooms. For city slickers looking to fulfill their country cottage fantasy Mill House is the perfect choice

Having holidayed in self catering accommodation over the last 30 years in the UK, Europe and Australia, the facilities were the best we have experienced. You really know how to look after your guests. Thanks again. Mike

The property was beautiful. The house was gorgeous and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. On top of that it was immaculate. The personal touch of the hand written card and delicious slice waiting for us in the kitchen was so lovely. Our kids loved playing games out on the lawn.
Would highly recommend and would love to go back again sometime.

What a beautifully presented and maintained cottage! Thank you to our hosts who were very responsive, friendly, and helpful. We had a weekend in the Megalong with the family and we are so happy to have discovered The Millhouse and it’s beautiful grounds. Little touches like a real coffee machine and a thoughtful welcome package were just the icing on the cake of what was already the complete package. I’d give 6 stars if I could.

Really lovely mountain getaway. The most well equipped kitchen I’ve ever encountered! Felt like extending our stay to make good use of it. Lovely spot even if it it’s raining with gorgeous views and cosy surrounds.

The Mill House was the perfect property for our stay in the Megalong Valley as we were attending our son’s wedding at Dryridge Estate. The house had everything we required to make our weekend memorable. The only feedback we have is to ensure anyone booking the property realises that the bathroom is downstairs with both bedrooms upstairs.

We loved our stay at the Mill House, very clean & comfortable. Great location as guests to a wedding at Dry Ridge Estate. Jill also provides lots of little extras to make it more enjoyable.

There for a friend’s wedding. Gorgeous spot, lovely house, the baked goods and personal card were wonderful.
Only downside was that there was no wifi. Unless you’re with Telstra there’s hardly any internet reception so be prepared

I am not someone who writes reviews but this place deserves it.
Everything about it is better than the photos would indicate.
They have thought of all the little details across the house.
Everything is done well.
The houses outdoor space is where it really shines though.
So many great covered seating areas, including an amazing covered fireplace complete with nice seating and blankets.
The grounds are lovely, albeit soggy from all of the rain.
The megalong tea rooms next door are also great and very convenient.
My only comment is be aware that the sleeping situation upstairs is not that private if you have kids as you either have to choose no door on your bedroom or you’re putting your kids in a room where sound travels up the stairs easily from the TV area.
That’s a pretty minor issue though and we’d absolutely come back to this house again.

Perfect place for a cosy winter getaway
The Mill House is the perfect place for a getaway. This was our second visit, and won't be our last. We were a group of four friends and we like to stay up late chatting. You don't have to worry about disturbing the neighbours because there aren't any!
The kitchen is extremely well equipped, top notch linens in comfy beds, the house is warm and the outdoor fireplace very cosy. The cafe is a short walk away for coffee or brunch and there are nearby wineries and bush walks. It's not far to Blackheath and beyond for shopping and sightseeing. Or just hang around the house and enjoy the serenity.
Thank you again, Jill.

Great family escape for peace and quiet
Our stay at Mill House was peaceful and just what we needed for our family escape. We enjoyed the outside fireplace on the cool nights with a hot chocolate whilst being able to see the stars. Perfect for families with kids, including our teenager who had a great time.
