About this cottage rental
The Old Stable is a charming cottage set back from the road with a private mature garden and a fantastic panoramic view of Lough Foyle, the North Coast and the Atlantic Ocean. The original house is over 100 years old and beautifully renovated. The traditional charm is preserved and modern conveniences added for comfort, includes central heating, open plan livingroom, a modern kitchen, one spacious ensuite bedroom, bathroom (two in total) and a wood burning stove. This is an ideal holiday retreat for individuals, couples or a small family who value privacy and tranquility. The garden is very peaceful and private, enjoy a barbecue or just take a seat outside and enjoy the magnificent view. Relax watching the boats going by or while listening to the sound of the small steam and the birds. This is a great tour base for exploring the beautiful Inishowen Peninsula. A short (15 min) walk takes you to the Blue Flag Shroove Beach and Inish Head lighthouse, where you will find a beautiful sandy beach, with car park and toilet facilities. The beach is suitable for children, swimming activities and life guards are on duty during summer months. The seaside villages of Greencastle and Moville offer nice restaurants, including the famous Kealys Seafood restaurant. A friendly local pub is a 5 min walk away from the cottage and both Greencastle and Moville offer genuine Irish pubs, live music and summer festivals. Greencastle Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole links course, visible from the house and only a 5 minute journey by car. From the house you can join the stunning Inishowen Head loop walk (8km) or from Greencastle join a beautiful shore walk to Moville (2km). Moville also offers sea kayaking and canoeing. In the summer the car ferry services takes you from Greencastle to the scenic coast of Northern Ireland, Giant Causeway and The Bushmills Distillery are approximately 1.5 hour car journey. The Historic City of Derry is only a 30 min. drive away. There is plenty of space for parking. We do not permit smoking in the Old Stable, we hope this consideration for others does not cause you much inconvenience.

The Old Stable is a lovely cottage which wrapped us in a calm soothing embrace. It was spotlessly clean and efficient, warmed up quickly and provided a home base from which to explore the surrounding beauty of the landscape. Its simple and tasteful decor was inviting and comfortable, the wood stove worked easily and we did not lack for anything. The view of the bay was ever changing and the air so clean and refreshing. Gregory was a perfect host who guided us when we arrived in the very late evening and was always available to answer any queries we had about the cottage or the local places of interest and the amenities of Moville. He was most helpful, patient, and kind. If you long for peace and a nourishing respite from a busy daily routine, this haven will not disappoint! We long to revisit it already.

One week of great views and day trips and wether of every sort, but mostly very nice. Even when it rained, we got a beautiful rainbow when it cleared!

The cottage is perfect. Absolutely everything anyone could possibly need. The view is mesmerizing and the front garden is full of tulips and blooming shrubs. Gregory is a wonderful host and keeps in contact. This entire area is full of history and do go to Nonnie’s for the daily bake. We wholeheartedly suggest you treat yourself to this lovely cottage and the quiet and joy of waking up each morning to the view of Lough Foyle. Thank you Gregory, Judith & Michael

Nice cosy house, log burner was really homely. Locals friendly and near shops. Gregory was very helpful with messages regarding location, checking we were ok on arrival etc. Would definitely visit again.

Fantastic property with amazing views- great location for local bars and eateries. Amazing beaches nearby - just perfect. A total treat to escape it all. Felt so rested- even after a 2 night stay. Beautiful cottage - very well equipped and great communication with Gregory. Will certainly return- loved it !

Gregory's hospitality has been exceptional. His responses to our enquiries were friendly, prompt and informative . The comfortable cottage is well equipped and is located in a beautiful location near Greencastle and Molville and offers a scenic ocean view towards Norther Ireland. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent property in quiet scenic position which contained everything we needed for a short relaxing break at the end of a long but rewarding journey up the Wild Atlantic Way. Gregory's cottage was inviting and very well provisioned, a perfect place for me and my husband to relax and explore the area. Communication with Gregory was superb, and we settled in quickly. We were surprised at just how much there was to enjoy in this beautiful area, with the loop walk practically passing by the house. Definitely highly recommended!

Superb property and position
We booked this completely 'blind'.
Communication with Gregory was always prompt and helpful. Directions were clear and precise.
On arrival the cottage was warm, clean and instantly felt welcoming.
The woodburner was efficient and quick to warm up.
It is a quiet location with glorious views and in ideal position to explore the area, which we absolutely loved. We ate at Rosatos and The Boat House, both highly recommended.
All in all we'd have no hesitation in saying book to stay here and if the opportunity arises we'll be back.

Beautiful cottage in quiet location
My partner and I decided to spend a few quiet nights away on short notice and I have to say we landed on our feet with this cottage. Gregory was a delight and made the whole process very easy. The cottage itself has everything you need for a quiet self-catering getaway. Plenty of walks nearby, and the views are spectacular. It's highly likely we will return!

Amazing stay
Such a wonderful trip in a gorgeous cottage with an amazing garden. The views were just as impressive and felt so at peace. The house had everything we could ask for and Gregory provided all info we needed and with his guidance we even booked 2 trips that our toddler loved.

Peaceful location with stunning views
Great accommodation with beautiful views over the lough. The cottage was just as described well equipped and in a great position close to Greencastle and Moville and easy access for sightseeing the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’. Lovely gardens to relax in after a day of sightseeing and a pleasant walk down to Stroove beach and lighthouse. Gregory our host ensured we were well informed and was easy to get in contact with. Such a beautiful hidden gem in a stunning part of the country

We had the best time at an amazing location. The stable is out of this world with incredible views. Cannot fault it. Great host, fantastic accommodation with everything you need. Great walks. Stunning secluded beaches. Friendly locals. We cannot wait to return.

Heavenly location
I highly recommend a stay in Inishowen. A beautiful location for peaceful walks and has best swimming spots. The property is truly beautiful, so quaint and very comfortable.

wonderful stay in wonderful cottage
We absolutely loved our stay in Gregory's cottage. It's a lovely space that is cosy and bright. The weather was mixed but we tried to be outside as much as possible. We ate our breakfast at the table every morning overlooking Lough Foyle. The garden is absolutely beautiful and we had terrible garden envy. Gregory was very responsive and kind. Gave us an extra mattress because my husband snores and organised for us to get 2 shirts posted that we left at the house. The house was impeccably clean and fresh and we enjoyed the turf fire every evening. The area is a lovely unspoilt part of Donegal and we were really sad to leave. Thansk to Gregory and the wonderful cleaner Yvetta. Highly recommend this place and it was great value too. paid less for 5 days here than our 3 days in Belfast at a much less lvoely place
