The space Located in a prime area of the Salt Lake Valley, this basement is all brand new and took a lot of blood, sweat and tears so please, do your best to take care of it. My brother Josh helps me manage the rental and lives upstairs with his wife and their dog. They are not home too often but there is potential for noise. I installed noise canceling insulation in the ceiling but some noise still comes through. Don't hesitate to text or call if you need them to keep it down. The space is spacious for 4 guests, good for 6 guests, and will accommodate a maximum of 7 guests. There is a keypad entrance so you can check-in just about whenever you need without having to check with us. There is brand new air conditioner and furnace. This is a quiet neighborhood. I take a lot of pride in making your stay comfortable and fun so please let me know what I can do to improve it!
Bedroom 1: This large bedroom has a King size bed with a Zinus Ultima Comfort Memory Foam 12 Inch Mattress complete with 3" of high quality "BioFoam" (the highest quality of memory foam), 3" of of Pressure Relieving Comfort Foam, 6" of High-density Base Support Foam, all covered Soft Knitted Jacquard Fabric, all combined to provide you with an amazing nights sleep. WARNING: I slept on this mattress once and now I hate all other mattresses. Bedroom also has mood lighting (BYO Marvin Gaye album), closet, night stands, lamps, and a 36" flat screen TV complete with an Apple TV. The sofa can fold in to a full size bed, extra sheets in the closet, and is about as comfortable as you'd expect a sleeper futon to be. The extra queen-size blow up mattress is in the closet with sheets and blankets.
Bedroom 2: This slightly-smaller-but-still-pretty-big bedroom has a queen bed with a mattress topper, closet, hutch, laundry basket, night stands, and lamps. Oh and mood lighting, of course.
Laundry: We've provided a large capacity washer and dryer.
Bathroom 1: This bathroom offers a newly tiled shower with a clear glass door and shower panel. This shower panel is the Taj Mahal of showers. It includes waterfall, rainfall, misters, body jets, regular ol' shower head with 3 pressure settings, temperature display, LED color lighting, and a foot wash spout. Necessities and complimentary toiletries are provided including clean, soft towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and washcloth.
Bathroom 2: This bathroom offers a classic bathtub to soak in and if you like boring old shower heads over multi-function shower panels then you're in luck because this bathroom has one. It also has a mountain-themed shower curtain. Necessities and complimentary toiletries are provided including clean, soft towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, washcloth, and hair dryer.
Kitchen: Brand new stainless steel appliances; 5-burner stove, fridge with ice maker, microwave, oven, dishwasher, and sink with disposal. The kitchen is well-equipped including a coffee maker, and a blender. The kitchen has a dining table for 3 for sit down meals. Kitchen complete with nearly all the conveniences of home.
Living Room: Great open concept for family and friends, large 50" flat screen complete with Roku set up with Hulu and Showtime accounts logged in. The couch is brand new (as of 12/23). There is an available inflatable mattress for 2 additional guests. There is free high-speed internet throughout. The front room also has a vintage wood-burning stove for cozy winter nights (please abide by local fire restrictions, many winter nights are "no burn" days in SL county and enforced strictly).
Outside: This is a shared space between the guests and the home owners and their guests. Hottub is on the front deck which is gated. Help yourself through the gate anytime. Sometimes my brother’s dog hangs out on the balcony, if that’s the case, don’t hesitate to knock on the door or text us and will bring her right inside. There is a security camera in the car port by the entrance to the guest unit. I also have a Ring doorbell with video surveillance on the upstairs front door, which monitors the front porch including the hottub.
Guest access You will have the basement to yourself. You can park on the right side of the covered carport. The door is right in front of your parking spot and has a code so you can come and go as you please. It is ground-level so you won't have to worry about any stairs. My brother Josh lives upstairs with his wife and their dog Sadie. She’s a very friendly dog who likes to hangout on the deck so feel free to say hi to her if you’re a dog person (if you’re wanting to use the hot tub and Sadie is out just let them know and they’ll bring her inside). They are gone a lot but happy to chat or help out when they can. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I grew up in the area and have spent a lot of time in the outdoors here so feel free to reach out with questions or recommendations. Other things to note Kitchen is a fully stocked kitchen with a coffee maker, blender, pots, pans, toaster, microwave and hopefully anything else you need. Some pets may be allowed on a case by case basis and a $20/day pet fee. Pets must be fully potty trained, house trained, and quiet. There is no fenced yard.

As advertised. Nice views from the hot tub. Now, as I think about it, I recall that It was a little too warm and I couldn’t find a thermostat. So we left the windows open at night. This seems to be a thing with Salt Lake City VRBO’s - Basements are converted, but don’t get their own thermostat. Happened at the last place we were at too. Not really a big deal, but if its important to you might want to contact the owner first.

Overall great location and comfortable apartment. Josh was a friendly and attentive host. Minor complaints would be that we did not have control of the thermostat, but Josh gladly made adjustments when we asked, and at times there was minimal hot water. ( We assume we shared the hot water heater.)
Also the TV had only basic Hulu. We did bring our own Roku which we were able to use.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

There are many things wrong with this rental. The description is totally wrong. It says:
Gorgeously Remodeled Basement Apartment with Hottub & Incredible City View.
It was remodeled 6 years ago. The hot tub is above the apartment on the porch to the hosts home. It is a fenced in area where they keep the dog. Needless to say I never used it.From the apartment there is no city view. You look into the car port from the living room window. The fireplace is a wood stove insert with no viewing of the fire. All it would do is heat the apartment. The second bedroom bed is old and sags badly. I noticed dangerous fire issues. The rug goes right up to the insert. There were wires lying against the water heater flue. The sheets were cheap to begin with and are now old and stained. During my stay the washing machine did not work for over a week. The couch that was unusable took over a week to replace. The host offered no compensation. The TV in the bedroom never worked except when plugged into a laptop. No effort was made by the host to repair it. There were many other issues. I have stayed in many short term rentals. This was by far my worst experience.

This is a nice apartment on the bottom floor of a home. We came to Utah to ski. It was clean and quiet. Comfy beds and well equipped kitchen. Plenty of restaurants and grocery stores and ski rental places within a 5-10 minute drive. 25 minute drive to Brighton/ Solitude, but you need to leave early. If you don’t have a 4WD, the bus stop to go to resorts is 7-9 minutes up the road with parking. But again get there early. (7am) Would love to come stay here again! The snow was amazing!! I never needed to contact host as instructions were great.

This worked out perfectly for us as my husband and I were visiting our daughter who just moved to the Pinnacle Heights apartments and this is conveniently located near there. It was clean and had everything just the 2 of us needed. It is in the basement which didn't bother us - still homey with windows adding natural light. The only thing that was unfortunate about our stay is that, upon arrival, we noticed immediately that the vanity in the extra bathroom was starting to pull from the wall. We tried to contact the owner with no luck. Our immediate worry was that it would fall off completely and flood the basement. Our secondary worry was that the owner would think we caused it. After a few days. we noticed someone was staying upstairs so we were finally able to speak to someone (though not the owner). He let us know that they were aware of the issue and gave my husband permission to take steps to minimize the chance of it coming entirely off the wall (my husband is in construction and was comfortable doing this). Other than having that hanging over our heads while there, it was a great place... just bad timing as I am sure the owners intended to take care of it but there simply wasn't time before our arrival. Our only wish is that the owner would have mentioned it to us beforehand. Still a high overall rating as we would definitely stay there again.

Great location and plenty of space for 4 to stay. Way better than a hotel!
Had to reach out for a couple of things but the response time was fast and all was handled! Will stay again if we are in the area.

Good place in the middle of everything
Overall the stay was pleasant and exactly what was needed. The only drawback was the temperature. Even as hot as it was outside, the apartment was freezing because thermostat was upstairs and we had no control. Once we opened the windows to let in the outside warmth it became bearable. Just pack some warmer clothes for inside…there was LOTS of cozy blankets that took the chill off though :)

Would recommend to friends and would stay here again.
We have stayed in a number of timeshare exchanges and vacation rentals and this is probably in my top two. Beautifully decorated and outstandingly well-equipped. Good quality mattress and linens. There was an issue with the dishwasher, but David knew about it before we did and had a repairman out to fix it without delay. It's really nice to have covered parking. Thanks, David.

Perfect Location
David’s place was perfect for our first trip to Utah. Super close to both Big Cottonwood Canyon and Little Cottonwood Canyon. Clean, neat and he was very responsive with my questions about shopping and dinning. Only hitch was the Hot Tub was down for repair. For a small group like I had, it was PERFECT! I would stay again and recommend this to anyone traveling with a small group/family.

Excellent skiing vacation!
We traveled with two little kids for skiing. Everything was wonderful, the fully equipped kitchen, the apres-ski hot tub, easy driving to the slopes, even the weather! We also finished a 1000 piece puzzle that was provided by the host. One of our best ski vacations.

Ski trip
The property has an EXCELLENT location for skiing Big and Little Cottonwood canyons. The property was clean and had sufficient space for four adults and all of our ski equipment. The full kitchen made breakfast easy before heading to the slopes. Newly renovated... the bathroom was beautiful. The ONly concern was the inability to use the hot tub due to poor water quality.

The stay was amazing and it was better than expected.
I stayed with three of my good friends from college and we loved the area. There was a beautiful view and the hot tub was definitely a plus! The price is completely reasonable for the quality of the place. Place was very clean and decorated well. Highly recommend this place!

great location for skiing, lovely basement apartment
three of us from northern california came to ski several resorts as ikon pass holders. the location of this rental was fantastic for access to both canyons. the owner has done a beautiful job creating a nice space for travelers here. nicely appointed and tastefully done. having a kitchen, private entrance, two bathrooms/showers, hot tub and laundry are always on our checklist and this unit hit all those boxes. it was great being able to make breakfast in the well equipped kitchen before we head up the canyon. the bedrooms are spacious and overall the floor plan is very functional. the king mattress was definitely on the firm side for us, but may be fine for others; the queen was reported to be just fine. having parking right in front of our door made coming and going a breeze.
there were two things that we did have issue with... the sofa while modern and attractive in the photos (and in person) is pretty much needing replacement. the couch springs and the wood frame made it impossible to sit comfortably to watch tv for any of us. we placed the futon mattress from the other room and pillows on the sofa for the days we were there to make it work. the other issue was the high tech shower. the shower is indeed amazing, but it also is too ambitious for the hot water capacity. our group of three found ourselves taking cool showers much of the time as the apartment shares only a 30 gallon hot water heater with the occupants of the house upstairs. none of us took long showers but still had to rinse conditioner out with cold water... brrrrr.
so to sum up: for guest comfort we suggest a new comfy couch and installation of a dedicated on-demand hot water heater (tankless) for the apartment. with these two improvements we would definitely stay again.
lastly, communication was very good. we didn’t call dave about the two above issues as we just didn’t see the likelihood either would be remedied during our five night stay. we made it work. in light of current events, both of these issues are trivial of course. overall a really nice place and great value with just a few tweaks needed.
*we were fortunate that our utah trip ended shortly before the covid crisis really took hold. we sincerely hope for the best for everyone of us. be safe and be well.
