About this house rental
A lovely, modern, seaside house just 50 metres to the seafront and less than one minute from all amenities, yet tucked away from the main road.
The property benefits from 3 parking spaces, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies - one of which is SW facing - and a small patio garden. Furnishing is contemporary with good quality beds, 2 showers, a bath, fully fitted kitchen including a washing machine, microwave and dishwasher.
The master bedroom has a comfy king sized bed with an ensuite shower and toilet.
The second bedroom has 2 single beds that can be pushed together to make a super-king sized bed. The family bathroom is right next door to this bedroom and has a bath, shower and toilet.
Both bathrooms have heated towel rails and there is also a washing line outside if you need to dry your washing or wet towels.
Next to the house are 3 tennis courts, the Marine Hotel, a micropub, beauty salons, gym, a dispensing Pharmacy, 7-11 local supermarket with a post office and a variety of excellent takeaways and cafes. So you don't have to go far to have everything you need but just a 15-minute walk along the seafront will take you into Whitstable town centre with its quaint working harbour, craft huts, galleries, seafood restaurants, specialising in Whitstable Oysters and many independent shops.
A bus stop is located nearby for travel to Whitstable, the historic town of Canterbury and Herne Bay. Whitstable train station, with regular trains into London (just over an hour's journey), is a 5-minute drive or 15 minutes walk away.
Tankerton is well-placed to be near to Whitstable, yet away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Tankerton Slopes is the site of many local festivals such as the annual classic car show, Oyster Festival food fair and the weekly Park Run.
Please note that Windjammer Cottage is an 'upside-down' house. The kitchen and living room are upstairs and open plan, maximising the lovely light that floods into the property. Although not suitable for people who can't manage the stairs, the house has a large hall downstairs with 2 armchairs that may be used as a second living area if required.
Please note that if you have small children, the house has 2 balconies and stairs.

Right by the coast and perfect to enjoy the sun setting over the sea. Well provisioned and presented. Had everything we needed and with a stylish finish. Also a beautiful Italian bistro just around the corner, Basil & Co, with lots of gluten free options. Would happily stay again.

This was a great place for our stay. Whitstable is a vibrant town and the cottage is only one street back from the local beach and promenade. It was a good base for exploring Kent too. It was nice to spend time relaxing on the balcony. The cottage is clean, modern, well equipped and the owners were very helpful with a few thoughtful touches. Would recommend.

A delightful well equipped upside down house hidden quietly away between main road and the seafront. The two balconies catch the sun during the day and amazing sunsets in the evenings, also small courtyard garden. Excellent restaurants and cafes within walking distance, good bus service to Whitstable, Herne Bay and Canterbury.

Having previously stayed twice before in Winter, it was lovely to visit in the Summer months. As usual Carol & Hugh were the perfect hosts and Windjammer had everything we needed.
The proximity to the sea is perfect and we enjoyed a couple of walks in both directions.
The restaurants and bars in Whitstable have everything to suit all tastes and budgets.
We will definitely return again.

Windjammer is a cosy haven, within minutes of the beach, beautifully furnished and perfectly equipped with high quality, stylish fixtures and fittings, and gorgeous decor. Everything it promised in the description and more besides.
From booking to check in to departure and beyond, our hosts were wonderful. Everything clearly explained. All straightforward. No hassle. Exactly what we were looking for. We cannot recommend this property highly enough. And hopefully, we will be back!

Carol & Hugh are perfect hosts and go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need for a pleasant stay.
Returned in January 2023 and again had everything we needed for our short stay.
We hope to return in the warmer weather this year.

My wife & I had a lovely time at the Windjammer cottage, in December, the week before Christmas. The upside down nature of the property was great with living / kitchen space on the first floor and two bedrooms, one en suite, and a bathroom on the ground floor. Unfortunately, because it was winter, we couldn't make full use of the two spacious balconies. The location was superb, being just off the lively high street which had every shop & eatery you could want. In the other direction, the beach & esplanade was about 70 m away, taking a short cut through the hotel carpark ( don't know if you're supposed to use this route, but we did).
The only problem we encountered was that the fidge freezer broke down on our first day. However Carol, the owner, worked tirelessly to get a stand alone fridge replacement up and running, which sufficed for the remainder of our stay.
We can thoroughly recommend the Windjammer cottage, it was extremely comfortable & with every utensil & appliance you would need. The location was excellent and we would love to visit again.

The cottage was perfect for a seaside holiday close to the beach. We stayed there in October and the weather was good with opportunities for coastal walks and near the pretty village of Whitstable and a short drive from Canterbury. The accommodation was very comfortable and well equipped. The owners were very helpful and responded quickly to any queries.

Lovely property and only about 50 metres from the sea front. Very clean and had everything we needed. Once we had parked the car we hardly needed to move it as the buses regularly use the main Tankerton high street just behind the house. The owner was very helpful on the one occasion we had a small problem.

We spent a few days in this wonderful holiday house, spotless clean, good garden and nice balcony. We were looking forward to sitting in the garden shed, but (un)fortunately we had stunningly nice weather, so the garden shed wasn’t used after all. Also communication with the owner was very nice. To be recommended!

Windjammer is hands down the best equipped holiday home we have ever stayed in.
Carol and Hugh have thought of everything and made the whole process extremely easy.
It is a beautifully furnished upside down house, with two balconies, only a couple of minutes walk from Tankerton beach and a leisurely 15 minute walk into Whitstable.
Parking was easy, with a couple of options, including a secure space within the garden boundary.
We usually stay in different holiday lets, even if we return to the same seaside town, but we would absolutely love to stay at Windjammer again. We loved it!

Fabulous holiday home.
Great house, well equipped and very comfortable. Situated a few yards from the high street and a few minutes walk to the seafront. Tankerton has all the essential shops, a good pub, and a very good Italian restaurant. Whitstable is a 15 minute stroll along the coast.
Highly recommended.

Excellent
3 sisters in our seventies wanted a few days together & the house suited us perfectly. It’s beautifully clean & well stocked. We had a problem getting into the house but between Carol & the neighbour it was quickly sorted. Being able to walk to the seafront, shops & places to eat was great. Parking not easy but we managed. We’d stay again it was all lovely.
