The house is very conveniently located. Tucked away from the lake itself but easy to hop on the boat and get to the lake. I wish the fish had been biting.....

Clear Lake Gem
This property is all that is listed and more. Somebody had a bad experience before us and this had me worried. But that should not be the case. This home is clean, clean, clean. Well stocked and well cared for. Communication with Hal was a breeze and the stay was completely wonderful. All appliances work, the place is full of plates, dishes and useful ware for your stay. The wireless is better than my own office. I will definitely stay here again when I travel to this area. You will not be disappointed.

A Family Stay Gem
The owner, Hal, couldn't have been more accommodating. A most comfortable home. From the artistic Marine Piling with Seagulls that welcomed us a nautical theme connects every room reflecting the seagoing interest of the owner. Because we had 14 family members who gathered for a reunion the group was divided between this home and one other about six houses away. We could not have asked for anything better when it came to meeting our needs. The general consensus was we must visit this place again.

Great little place
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and ready for us. The boat dock was great. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook with and the bbq was easy to start. And luckily they had a spare propane tank so we didn’t have to run to fill it during the middle of our cooking. We would definitely stay here again.

Best friend staycation
My friend and I wanted a relaxing three-day staycation away from home to decompress from work and family stuff and we got MORE than that. This adorable house is decorated with cute little nautical-themed trinkets and makes you feel like you're home away from home. When communicating with Hal, he responded very quickly and even called a couple of times two days before our check-in day to ask if we had any questions. The master bed is extremely comfortable, the bed was made up with clean linens and every room was clean upon our arrival. We used the oven, stove, and dishwasher; all of which were very easy to use. There are a picnic table and some patio chairs on the lanai that we moved to the dock when we wanted to tan and layout in the sun that are very comfortable. A pleasant surprise was the supply of cooking utensils and tools that are supplied such as pots, pans, spatulas, and silverware. I have nothing bad to say about this place and had nothing but a great experience. Do yourself a favor and escape from the noisy city life by staying here. The lake is quiet and the neighbors are very respectful by not being loud during the day or night; it lets you hear all the ducks, geese, and hawks that swim or fly by during the day and hear the symphony of frogs at night.

cute home perfect little get away
With the stay at home order syill in effect we needed to get away to someplace clean and safe with a different view. this house was just what we needed for my husband and I. The kitchen had everything we needed.. the beds were comfortable and the there was plenty of room. we brought our 2 dogs who enjoyed watching and barking at the Duke and geese. we didn't venture out much except to the store and to see some cousins but still had a pleasant mental health rejuvenation week.

Great view and quiet neighborhood
My family and I had a lovely stay at Captain Hal's boat house over Christmas. The house was in a super quiet neighborhood with a beautiful view out the sliding doors. You could walk outside and hear nothing but the sounds from the various birds everywhere. Seriously, the neighborhood was so quiet, and we didn't see many people. The house is on a dead-end street so not much traffic either which is great for kids and dogs. Our pups loved to look out the window and check out the ducks and egrets hanging out on the water.
The house was stocked with anything we could have needed including small kitchen appliances and cooking/baking stuff. It has a fireplace which was great to light in the evenings. We were also able to move the furniture slightly so we had plenty of room for 5 to watch TV. Dining table had 6 chairs, though another one or two could squeeze in.
The house is a bit dated, with popcorn ceilings, but we didn't mind. It's super kitschy with boating, captain, and ocan motif. Outside of the house is adorable in the yellow color.
Hal was communicative and gave us some good tips. The lake is big with little towns all around it. We found the lake park and walked for a good hour which was beautiful. We also drove 1.5 hours (on a very windy road) to Montgomery Reserve and walked amongst the redwoods.
A few things to be aware of:
-We were a party of 5 and the fold out couch and the two cots weren't super comfortable. I ended up sleeping on a couch instead. That said, there is plenty of room for an air mattress and the couch was pretty comfy for one person.
-The house needs a good deep cleaning. It was tidy and a clean was obviously done, but it was time for a thorough once-over. I'm assuming after this review, it will get one, so hopefully won't be an issue for any future bookings.

Refreshing stay in "Boat Haven"
We had a fun 3 night stay at Hal's place. House was fully equipped with everything that we needed. We tried barbecue one night and kids loved it. Patio view was awesome.
The neighborhood seemed quiet and safe, this place is definitely recommenced.

Peaceful Retreat
We enjoyed our stay at this very cozy property. Captain Hal and Stephanie were both pleasant and welcoming. The property was clean and nicely decorated. We enjoyed hours of fun on the deck and dock. The 2 bedrooms had very comfortable beds, the pull out was not as comfortable. the mattress needs to be replaced. The family room area is small but very comfortable couches and chairs that look out to the lake. There is one very small TV, so if you plan on doing a lot of TV watching, keep that in mind. The wifi worked great and everything we needed for our 3 night stay was provided. We look forward to our next visit.

Nice place, has everything you might need.
Hal & Donna's place was a great spot to enjoy the visiting birds right on the back patio and dock. Great blue herons (sounded liek pterodactyls!), grebes, night heron and ducks came by. What a treat to see a barn owl diving in and out of the cypress trees. We enjoyed the birds immensely at night and in the mornings. Then, we kayaked, fished, and swam at nearby lakes and fit in a few wineries to boot (they did a great job having outdoor tastings very safely with masks). The local pizza place was good too. Unfortunately I can't recommend visiting late summer - there was a thick algae bloom in the canals and in the eastern portion of Clear Lake...maybe if you had a big boat you'd be ok to take off from the dock, but we skipped launching our kayaks there because of it. The house itself is quaint with its nautical decoration theme, and had everything we needed. The grill worked out well for cooking at night. The neighborhood was quiet and felt perfectly safe. Unfortunately it didn't feel the same at the grocery store on the outskirts of Clear Lake (town). The surrounding area really needs revitalization. It is such a shame. Overall, as a base for exploring the lakes district, this is a great house.

Pure relaxation
My husband and I stayed for 4 nights with our dog. Extremely quiet and comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. My only complaint was that most of the dishes and pots I used were dirty with food and oil so I had to wash before using.
Best time to enjoy the backyard was in the morning with our coffee and in the evening as the sun went down. Just beautiful!

AMAZING WEEK, WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
We stay in a number of vacation rentals and I will have to say this was one of the most pleasant places to stay we have ever been. Hal is an amazing owner who desires to please all of his guests, a truly pleasant man. With every amenity you could desire in a home, an amazing view, and of course a dock on the water, we highly recommend this property and we hope to be able to return.

Very clean beds and house overall. Great stay.
Hal was a great host. Got back to us quickly with all of our questions answered. My family thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to come back again this summer. We did have a little problem with the Wi-Fi but found the password on the back of the Internet box. It rained most of our stay but my husband and son were able to go out on the kayaks at least one day. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Great Vacation!
We had a great stay and the owner was very hospitable. My husband brought his boat and caught tons of fish. We found some nice restaurants on the lake and the owner referred us to some wineries. The house the street is on is very quiet and perfect access to the main part of the lake by boat. We will definitely consider coming back! 😊

Clean and comfortable place for a quiet stay
This is a nicely maintained property in the Clearlake Oaks area. The property is located towards the end of a dead end so there is no traffic, the neighbors were quiet the week that we were there and it afforded a relaxing place to vacation. The owner and property manager were both quick to respond to pre arrival questions and ensured that our stay was comfortable. We enjoyed having the boat at the dock for trips onto the lake anytime of the day, as well as driving trips to the numerous vineyards in the area. Would recommend to family and friends alike.

Nice but lots of mosquitos :-)
We had a nice stay and the house was cute and right on the lake with a dock to fish from. There were a lot of mosquito's! There were some trip hazards in the front yard area and my sis fractured her ankle rolling it on the front porch step, so you really have to be careful. If you have pets, there is no fenced yard for them to go in. Overall, nice stay. and convenient if you want to go fishing and have direct access to the lake.

Second time renting from Hal. His place is very comfortable and clean. Perfect location to access the main lake without being deep in the keys, and easy access from the highway.

Fell short of expectations
This was our first visit to the Clear Lake area so understand we did not know what to expect. Many of the homes in Clear Lake Oaks have fallen into disrepair and the area now attracts some questionable individuals. The house itself is better kept than many of the others and was okay. It was clean and well equipped but it is an older home and it too is showing it's age. Again we did not understand the overall age of the community. Apparently spiders love it there and the house has a fairly serious spider infestation problem. The dock looks new and is quite large. From a fishing perspective it is in a great location with quick access on and off the lake.

Perfect for us!
This was the perfect place for us, it was very convenient since we had a boat and there was a private dock. Loved seeing and listening to all the wildlife right out our back door on the water. We kept a roaring fire, but the heater was very efficient. I will say the queen bed was much more comfortable than the king but overall the experience was great!

Fantastic!
I can't say enough good things about this property and owner! The last home I rented (not from this company) was a total hassle so I was relieved at the ease and comfort level of this property. The home was on a quiet dead end street, had boat parking in driveway or at the dock at back of house, and was exactly as advertised. The property felt like a house and didn't have the generic feel of most rentals. The inside of the house was extremely clean, contained all the amenities of home, and had a very comfortable master bed (we did not use the second bedroom). The whole back of the house overlooked the canals and included barbeques, lounge chairs, a picnic table, and deck chairs that were all incredibly maintained. We spent most of our time fishing on the lake and the local boat launch was close to the property and we had the option of trailering the boat each night or tying up at the property's dock. Small local restaurants, gas, and groceries were close by. The owner was wonderful! He provided clear, easy to follow directions for our stay and my husband and I felt more like we were borrowing a home from a friend rather than renting from an unknown owner. I would absolutely recommend this property and will be staying here again on our next trip to Clear Lake. No need to look elsewhere!

Nice.
It was good. Love the back area. Fishing not as good. Spider webs all overthe inside of the house. But besides that it was great

Nice house.
Very nice house. Clean, well-appointed and includes interesting memorabilia of owner's travels and sea-going souveniers. However, lake is in sorry condition with algae....fish are dying and floating up on shore in certain areas.
Bathroom doors stick when attempting to close all the way....probably due to re-paint.
Master bed mattress is uncomfortable with a hump in the middle.
Suggest the following :
Pizza cutting tool
Instruction booklets for both bed-side clocks and den radio.
Grill basting brush for chicken, et al.
Chair-side patio tables ( we had to use up-turned 5 gal. pails from the garage).
A suggestion in the guest docs. that there are 2 large grocery stores in Clear Lake.
A working printer/paper for guest use.
Dog daily fee very exhorbitant.

Wonderful Stay
Had wonderful relaxing weekend. The house was clean and had all the basic amenities. We did star gazing from the dock which was a great experience after a long time. Our furry baby had a good time meeting with other dogs in the neighborhood.
