The “House of Prince” is a 120 years old renovated property in Styra (South Evia), where we invite you to experience a genuine and truly unique 5-star vacation, only 1,5h away from Eleftherios Venizelos Airport in Athens. Built in the final decade of the 19th century, it initially served as the home of the family’s great-grandfather, who had the nickname “The Prince”.
A retreat for family or small group vacation
The House of Prince can host up to 8 people in 3 independent self-catering suites in two 2 separate buildings, the main building and the guest house.
All 3 suites have their own entrance, bathroom, kitchen with all mod-cons, Wireless LAN, Air Conditioning, Hairdryer, High Quality Linen, Heating, Safety Deposit Box, Smart TV, Shower.
At the yard of “The House of Prince” a couple of olive trees, an orchard with orange, lemon, fig, mulberry, pomegranate, almond trees, as well as some cypress trees provide a desired biodiversity. Walk around the yard, pick fruits, observe the trees, the birds or just sit in the shade of a tree and read or daydream.
At the House of Prince we invite you to:
-Experience the luxurious simplicity and the stay in an authentic Greek villa
-Experience the country local life
- Grab a glass of wine from local producers and enjoy the sunset at your balcony.
- Pick your own fruit from the garden trees
- Take part at the cooking classes and enjoy your meals cooked in the 120 years old stone oven
- Grab water from the stone well of the property, as if it were the 1930’s
- Swim in the crystal clear waters at the Aegean and Evoikos sea
- Take part in organized walks to the neighboring gorges
- Join the celebration during the production of olive oil and tsipuro
This is only the beginning - there is much more that we invite you to discover.
Me, Jannis Kyriakopoulos, proud owner, my wife Thalina and our newborn daughter, Penelope, will be happy to host you, give you tips for the amazing beaches, walking trails or local products and wine you will want to taste. Further we can organize for any activity you might imagine as South Evia has it all.

The property is as nice as the pictures and in many ways better. You are a 10 minute walk from a lovely little village with 4-5 tavernas, depending on the day of the week. Plus for those who love an evening walk to ice cream or perhaps a night cap...perfect! New Styra is only a 7 minute drive with a lovely beach and many tavernas. The owner is very receptive when needed and the woman, Litsa, who is at the house daily is a delight. All in all, our family of 15, ages 8 to 78, enjoyed the house and village immensely and highly recommend.

Authentic and unique property
A little gem far enough away from the mainstream international tourist attractions but still accessible with some planning. Rightly labelled the easternmost suburb of Athens, the island of Evia is a little known gem. Ioannis is an excellent host and went out of his way to make our stay pleasurable. The house is restored to a high standard although the steps to the pool are not for those with any mobility problems. The pool overlooks the road leading up to the main square from the port of Nea-Styra and used by goods vehicles/buses etc. This will change when the new by-pass is completed as it will divert through-traffic away from the village. Stira is a village with a charming square and great for a meal out as long as you do not expect a huge variety or international wine selections! Do try the coffee shop which has a poignant family history and is a little treasure. The local butcher provides excellent produce and cut quite the largest pork chops I have seen for a memorable barbeque. Fruit from the garden included succulent pomegranates, grapes, lemons and of course figs. As always in hot climates - beware of the ants and biting insects. The port town of Nea-Stira is easily accessible but be prepared for higher prices. Mini-markets have all of the essentials and for a more comprehensive start-of-the-holiday staples purchase, definitely head out to Karystos or even better, Chalcida where in the latter you find esoteric establishments like Lidl! Do plan your days out as journeys are measured in time not by miles - a car is absolutely essential. (One way ferry ticket from Ag marina to N. Styra is 24 Euro including 2 passengers). I suggest shelling out a little extra and hiring a manual transmission diesel engine with a good low end torque as the dirt tracks found everywhere away from the main roads are steep (circa 1:3 in places) and unleaded petrol varies between E1.50 and 1.75 / litre with diesel around 1.25/litre. Check out the less accessible beaches - south and east of Karystos are pretty much deserted out of high season. The north winds often blow force 5 - 7 so be prepared for choppy surfs - excellent for wind surfing but also comes with a strong undertow. Day trips to the gorge and the Dragon houses are recommended. All in, a charming holiday for those seeking rural Greece but as always, prepare thoroughly and do take a sat-nav to avoid the trauma of getting lost in the dark up some steep narrow dirt track miles from nowhere!

A nice vacation in a house full of history.
Me and my family of 7 people we had a wonderful holiday in this fantastic house. As if we lived in history. Owners are very friendly and helpful, especially the location of beaches and recreational areas. The house is equipped with everything necessary. We are grateful. It is absolutely necessary to have a car to get to know all beaches and beautiful places on the island. We recommend this location to our friends.

Just perfect
We spent 8 amazing days in this beautiful house with our four daughters. We had a wonderful time and we definitely want to return in the future.
The house is located in a peaceful little village with a charming main square and friendly locals. Our host was fantastic: quick to answer emails, extremely helpful and hospitable. He gave us detailed information on the best beaches, restaurants etc. He even prepared a delicious dinner for us in a traditional stone oven.
The house itself is equipped with all modern conveniences, we didn't miss a thing.
We tried almost all the beaches Jannis recommended, they were beautiful and not at all crowded.

A memorable holiday in a delightful house
This is a lovingly restored house on the edge of the delightful hill village of Styra. Six of us in our sixties rented this house from the charming owners Jannis and Thalina. The main house has been laid out as two apartments with a separate apartment across the courtyard. We used the house as a whole and used the upstairs kitchen. There is a mezzanine bedroom above the living room/ kitchen which we didn't use. The furniture consists of some lovely old family pieces which lends great character to the house.. Jannis & Thalina met us at the house and gave us a welcome drink . The following morning they arrived to meet the other couples accompanied by Jannis's father Spiros and bringing us flowers, eggs, wine and Tsipouro. Initial problems were sorted out and later they met us in Nea Styra which is the nearby town on the sea where we were given lots of information about the local area, beaches , resaturants etc.
On the holiday Monday a splendid lunch of kid goat was cooked for us in the wonderful stone oven in the courtyard and we were taken to a tradional village festival up above Styra where we were introduced to the local Mayor. We were treated royally.
We loved the village of Styra which has a bakery, a vegetable shop, two mini markets and a wonderful butcher which has a taverna which opens at the weekens. There is a very smart Kafenion also which serves excellent coffee and wonderful orange pie which Thalina told us we must taste. She was right! We found lots of lovely beaches which were not touristy but had tavernas and umbrellas. Jannis organised for three of us to join a walk down the Dimosaris Gorge which was a real highlight of our holiday. The local guides Mihaelis and Vassilis are charming and most knowledgeable.
The House of Prince is a luxurious gite in a rural setting but only five minutes from the sea.
