The view from Casa Belvedere is spectacular. We enjoyed the chance to sit on the terrace and experience the beauty of Gaeta and the rustic and quaint nature of the apartment. The steps down to the port (160) were a challenge but great exercise. However, the apartment could use some added touches similar to what we have come to experience from VRBOs across Europe. For those visitors staying for a few days it would be helpful to have items such as a new coffee pot that does not leak and perhaps a toaster. As well, the kettle plug was not compatible with the Italian sockets so it was not usable and we did not have a Europe to Italy adapter. It would be also helpful to have plastic bags/liners available for the garbage bins, toilet paper in all the bathrooms and laundry detergent for the washer. We encountered many mosquitos in the apartment even though we did not have any windows open and there did not seem to be any mosquitos when we ate outside at restaurants in the evening. The mosquitos were so bad that our hands and faces were covered with mosquito bites each morning. We did move to the second bedroom but the result was the same. The check-in process was efficient and we appreciated the dining recommendations. There was an information package for the apartment but we would have benefited from a bit more detailed overview on arrival for items for which we were unfamiliar such as the hot water system. Overall, an enjoyable stay but Casa Belvedere would benefit from some added amenities.

Not for faint of heart
If you do not have a car at your disposal, be prepared to get your exercise each day by either walking 142 steps up and down the mountain, or walking up and down the mountain road with 8 hairpin turns. The accommodations were lovely with fantastic views. We loved getting to know the city of Gaeta, the people and the wonderful restaurants.
