About this house rental
If you need to be staying in the Manning Valley during the current situation, what better place than your own self-contained accommodation at Artisans On the Hill!
Only a 3 hour drive North from Sydney, overlooking the magnificent Manning Valley, is Manning Valley Hideaway at Artisans On The Hill.
Ideal for Groups or just a quiet getaway, this self-contained home away from home is perfect as a base for family gatherings, sporting groups, team building or creative pursuits in Artisans Workshop. Your hosts, Peter and Christine live in a different wing on-site and are happy to sit with you over coffee to let you in on the hidden secrets of the Manning Valley.
Manning Valley Hideaway at Artisans On The Hill is also Pet Friendly. Well behaved pets are welcome inside (but not on our furniture or linen). Warm timber flooring throughout means no carpets to gather pet hair! Please bring your pet's own bedding for their stay. Please note - the property is NOT fenced.
The large, sealed parking area is ideal for boats, coaches and other awkward vehicles. There is even some under cover parking available by arrangement.
There are 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms plus a large fully equipped kitchen and living area, all reverse cycle air-conditioned of course. (Note: One room is allocated per 2 guests. Should you require additional rooms for single occupancy, a surcharge of $50 applies for each additional bedroom - for the booking NOT per night). Your beds are all made up with fresh linen, environmentally friendly toiletries and large fluffy towels. There is a hamper of breakfast goodies to get you started and of course real coffee and tea supplies are always on hand!
The large screen television and sound bar allows you to enjoy the vast library of movies, or perhaps you just want to curl up with a good book from the huge eclectic collection.
Free WiFi is there for those who need to remain connected while staying.
Artisans On The Hill is strictly a No Smoking property (including the grounds) and we do ask that you respect our wishes in that regard.
Please note that as from 1st December 2021, all guests who are eligible for Covid vaccine must be fully vaccinated in order to stay at Artisans On The Hill.
Located only a stone's throw from the village of Tinonee, and larger centres of Wingham and Taree, you get the benefits of a quiet rural location with easy access to all "The Valley" (made famous by local best selling author, Di Morrissey) has to offer.
The famous "Tip Track" - Mountain Bike Trail through Kiwarrak Forest is 5km away and the Beaches at Old Bar, Wallabi Point and Saltwater are about 20 minutes from your door.
For more information on the area, suggest you web search Visit Manning Valley.
Should you like to experience something different during your stay, spend some time in the Artisan Gallery on site, with functional pieces from some of Australia's best Artisans. Better still, try a workshop with your hosts, Peter & Christine, who can teach you things like woodturning, silver jewellery making, kiln formed glass and lots more. Lots of fun things for kids to make too!
Artisans Retreat / Artisans On The Hill has operated as a traditional B&B for several years, but with the addition of more bedrooms and the kitchen/living area, has made the shift to self contained accommodation - just for you!

Excellent stay. A chance to have a family get together. Brilliant host who provided help on nearby walks and guided talks in his woodwork shed while showing us how to turn wood into beautiful artworks. Excellent gallery. This is a place you could park caravans in the carpark and use the huge kitchen and entertainment area to catch up on any event with accommodation for ten to thirteen people in five ensuites rooms. Excellent design for an house with lots of room for everyone. Thanks Peter and Catherine.

We loved staying here with our two adult kids and partners. Privacy for each couple, huge comfortable community room with space to read in a comfy chair, sit out on the veranda for the view, gather around the breakfast table or all chip in for the kitchen prep. Loved the comfy touches like the beautiful quilts, artwork, stacked bookshelves. We came for a family event in Taree and Peter's hospitality made it so lovely

Artisans on the hill is situated on a hill at Mondrook and is just a short drive from Wingham and Taree. The location is peaceful, and there are great rural vistas. There is also a boutique arts shop on-site, with fine jewellery, woodwork, and art. Peter and Christine are great hosts. A great family-friendly location.

We had a really great weekend at Artisans on the Hill. Peter was a great host, checking us in with ease and professionalism. He even showed us around his workshop and gallery. The house was really clean, spacious and had all the necessary amenities you could ask for. Peter even helped set up the fire pit for us. The beds were really comfortable and the house was nice and warm. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends. Such a great weekend.

Beautiful landscape around the house; a group of us stayed the property for three nights and enjoyed the stay very much; great pleasure met with Peter and Christine; learnt what wooden craft can be made at the workshop that is located next to the house.

Perfect hosts, perfect location
We stayed 2 nights and absolutely loved it! Peter was the perfect host, welcoming us in (and we arrived quite late) and going through all the details with humour and grace. We then had a lazy morning around the property, followed by a late lunchtime drive through Wingham and on to Taree for fantastic fish and chips by the river. We then had a wonderful tour with Peter, through the artisans workshop and then the gallery…OMGosh! What wonderful items are in the gallery and how impressive is the workshop. We have taken brochures and will be recommending to our friends, we are also already planning a trip with friends to enjoy the peace and quiet and also to take a few of the classes of on offer. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Spend some time
Wonderful place to stay, warm and accommodating in every respect. Comfy bed and lovely views to wake up to. Peter was a great host and we all felt very welcome (our dogs included). Unfortunately our overnight stay was too brief, would definitely loved to have spent more time. Absolutely recommend and thanks for a lovely stop over.

More than excellent
We had an awesome experience throughout our stay. The host was very friendly and easy to communicate with. He brought us around his workshop and gallery and explained all the artworks in detailed patiently. The visit really blew our mind.
The location was excellent. We viewed a beautiful sunrise in front of gallery early in the morning. At night we enjoyed star glazing at the balcony. The rooms were sparkling clean and beautifully decorated.
Will definitely come back again for a visit. Highly recommend this accommodation!!!!

Perfectly peaceful and tranquil
From the moment we arrived at the property we felt welcomed and relaxed. We were greeted by Peter who gave us a run down of everything in the property and local amenities. We felt at home from the outset. The property itself sits high on the hill and overlooks the surrounding countryside. So peaceful and tranquil. If you need somewhere to relax then this is the place to visit. The property was immaculate and had everything we needed. Artisans on the Hills also has the gallery attached to the property and we bought a few pieces. I was given the privilege of Peter giving g me a tour of his workshop and personally being able to pick a Banksia nut which Peter made into a gorgeous vase for me!!!! Amazing. We had the best time and will definitely be booking again. Thank you

Great Family Getaway in the Country yet close enough to beaches too
Thanks Peter and Christine for allowing us to stay in your home. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the house was large enough to cater for our family/friend gathering. You were easy to communicate with and were very welcoming.

A Country Retreat
The property itself was in a beautiful setting and in immaculate condition. The hosts Peter and Christine are engaging and generous hosts and truly enjoy the experience of welcoming people to their retreat.
The added bonus of an art gallery and two talented artisans being there mean that you can relax, engage in the beautiful setting and if you want enjoy creating your piece of magic.
We are grateful to them both for the relaxing weekend. We have already booked to return.

Weekend at Mondrook
A few of us went up to stay Artisans over the weekend. Everyone had a great time and Peter was a great host. We arrived late for check-in and Peter was accommodating and extremely polite. He welcomed us in and showed us around as well as explained what was available on site. A visit to the art gallery is a must. There is plenty to suit all tastes and Peter is very passionate about what's on offer. Peter was happy to leave us to enjoy our privacy when we needed it as well as making himself available when we needed him.
I appreciate the hospitality!

Country hospitality and views
We initially chose Artisans on the Hill for our accomodation as we had a large group and dogs to consider on our trip. The communication leading up to our arrival was terrific and when we arrived, Peter and Christine proved to be terrific hosts. We were given a thorough handover and felt very welcome. The beds are extremely comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and the lay out very functional. I highly recommend having a look in the gallery during your stay. We now look forward to the next visit, large group or not!

Great stay
Had a great couple of days away at Mondrook. Our party consisted of three families and a dog. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Property could probably do with a few more utensils in the kitchen. We also had a small problem with some ants in the kitchen. Property was clean, but could do with a bit of a dusting for cobwebbs. Plenty of room though, and good setup,. Overall, I'd definitely recommend a visit, especially if travelling with a dog.

Amazing place and great host
Very quiet, clean and beautiful place, spacious and cozy house, amazing views, it has everything needed for a perfect stay and even more, and is pet-friendly. Peter and Christine are great hosts. It was our second visit and it was fantastic again. Thank you very much, Peter and Christine, for your hospitality, your delicious breakfast and that great experience we have every time we come to Artisans.

Excellent dog friendly accomodation
This is the second time we have stayed here and it’s an excellent place to stay with our two dogs. We enjoying walking the dogs around on the property. The hosts are very accommodating and the bedroom we were staying in had a slide door to outside which made it super easy taking our dogs outside. We will be back again!

Have stayed at better
The beds were comfy and the linen and towels good quality. The place was a little grubby, crumbs in the toaster and the oven Needed a wipe as did The microwave And fridge. There was no cleaning products and the wash up cloth and Chun were used and dirty. We found cleaning products in a cupboard in the laundry that I think was supposed to be locked, I had to wipe down the sink and splash back before we used it. The hamper was a disappointment. As the bacon was in a container, obviously it had been handled. The cereals also were not in sealed boxes...they we’re decanted into containers. The peanut butter, vegimite, honey and margarine were in jars already used by previous
guests The lounges were grubby, some of the dining room chairs were very unstable. The outdoor furniture was full of spider webs and the table filthy. The outdoor bbq had meat and fat from previous guests left on it and we had to clean it to use it. There was no lockable door between the owners and the accomodation and the entrance door could not be locked. We actually had strangers walk in on us through the unlock able door. The owner Peter was pleasant and easy to deal with, and seems like a nice person.
