About this cabin rental
Spend a week or more enjoying all the splendor of the great outdoors on beautiful Lake George in the Adirondack Park, New York. Live in 'Longview,' a real log cabin nestled on the waters edge of Warner Bay. Enjoy the pure waters of Lake George with your own reserved dock that can fit a 27-foot boat or splash and swim off of the dock. Enjoy your own private deck on the waterfront with table and lounge chairs.
There is a beautiful boat house on the property with a top deck which is fully private for the guests. There are three slips at the boat house, the owners of the property keep their boat in the middle slip. Guests have one slip included with their stay, which can accommodate up to a 28’ boat. The owners of the property have another home across the street set back on top of the hill and use the middle boat slip in the summer, dock is the only shared element of the property and the rest is fully private for guests.
This log cabin is perched on the shore offering an incredible long view over the tranquil waters of Lake George's Warner Bay toward Rockhurst and Long Island. Comfortably sized with almost 3,000 SF sleeping 12 people, it features a cathedral ceiling family room with a working wood fireplace, a modern kitchen, five bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a two-car garage.
This is a four-season location with great things to do year round as Longview is close to all major attractions including hiking trails, ski areas and restaurants.
Summer Activities: Boating and other water activities await from your reserved boat slip. Fischer's Marina is close by which affords a boat launch and fuel. Additionally, Longview is close to everything: 20 minutes to Lake George Village by car or you can go by boat and use one of the public docks, 5 minutes to camp Chingachgook which offers day camp for younger children and 2-week sleep away for older kids; enjoy rides and waterpark at Great Escape/Six Flags or Magic Forest (for the younger kids); fantastic outlet shopping; about 40 minutes to Saratoga where you can shop, dine or take in a race at the track.
Right off of Pilot Knob are two trail heads-one offers access to a wide network of hikes at skill different levels including a 6.6 mile trial to the summit of Buck Mountain at about 2000 FT elevation.
Swimming, Theatre and Museums: 'Million Dollar Beach' in Lake George Village offers a bathhouse, lifeguards, picnic areas, volleyball and a large sandy beach. White water rafting, parasailing, kayaking, biking trails, jet ski rental, guided horseback rides on trails, and mountain biking are close by. Gore Mountain opens its trails for hikes and mountain biking in the Summer and early fall.
Try a hot air balloon ride over Lake George or take a narrated cruise on one of the lake’s unique steamboats. In the Summer, the Saratoga Performing Arts center offers the New York City Ballet, the Philadelphia Orchestra and various other musical performances. There is a dinner Theatre in the village that operates from mid-June to mid October. Museums: in Glens Falls-Hyde Collection for fine art and Chapman for local history; Lake George-The Fort William Henry Museum and the Battlefield Park. The Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake (about an hour away, May to mid-October) offers extensive exhibits.
Winter Activities: Longview is ideally located for easy access to downhill and cross country ski areas. Gore Mountain is about 45-60 minutes away with snowmaking on 95% of its 60 trails. It has a summit elevation of 3,600 feet and a vertical drop of 2,100 feet. West Mountain is within 20 minutes drive and is a smaller, easier mountain that has a kid friendly ski school and fun a tubing slope. Vermont ski mountains are around 1-1/2 to 2 hours away.
Cross country skiers have numerous options within 20-60 minutes drive. Snow mobile trails are with 10-15 minutes drive offering a wide range of trail types. If snow shoeing is your thing, trails off of Pilot Knob offer gentle paths or more steep challenges to various mountain summits. Drive a little farther and there are dozens of trail networks that offer extensive winter hike/snow shoe/cross country ski opportunities. Lake George has a great Winter Festival that has races and activities. The Lake George Forum offers indoor ice skating year round.

Had a great vacation on the lake !

We all loved it, but we were all concerned about the mold in the bathrooms and the broken appliances in the kitchen. It seems to me that these could have been addressed in the 29 hours we paid for but couldn't use the house. While mold is a very serious issue, there was no attempt even to clean it off surfaces. We smelled it immediately and shut off AC and opened windows.

Very fun weekend! Plenty of space and a few nice additions from the owner.

We had a wonderful time at this property. It was exactly as stated. Perfect size for our family of 6 adults and 3 children. Plenty of room and well stocked kitchen. We would love to come back to this house in the future.
Location is out of the crowds of town and has a beautiful view of the lake.

The house was as pictured! It was very clean. We couldn’t have asked for a better view!!! I found a few issues. We couldn’t find a lighter or a flicker to start a fire. No pens or pencils in the whole house. A large number of spices, yet no salt and pepper. Just little things like that. Beds were very comfortable. We had 20in of snow and we were plowed out which was awesome!! We would definitely stay there again!!

We stayed at Longview over the holiday weekend and had wonderful time. We were two families (4 adults and 5 kids) and there was definitely more than enough space. The cabin is charming and well maintained - the owners have put a lot of effort into making everything labeled and easy to use. There were previous reviews about there not being enough pots and cooking utensils, but that has been resolved with a fully equipped kitchen for any chef! The views are amazing and being able to drink coffee while watching the lake is a great way to start the day. The location is a little out of the way and 10-15 min drive from any shops, but that adds to rustic cabin feel. Will definitely be looking at booking this again over the summer.

My family and I had an incredible time at Longview! The views of the lake from the home are breathtaking and the home itself is beautiful! Very clean and well maintained. Host was super accommodating and very detailed with check in/check out. Would absolutely stay again!! We came up for a ski trip and the property was conveniently located to Gore Mountian and West Mountain

We had a lovely time visiting. The house was the perfect size and had everything we needed to enjoy a family Thanksgiving.

First, let me start by saying I am a long time VRBO customer. I have stayed in VRBO's and their partners all over the world. That said, I have seen a wide range of properties, that offer various levels of amenities.
Unfortunately, Pilot Knob was by far the most disappointing propety I have ever stayed at.
Kitchen: Ill equipped, pots/pans are old, beat up teflon in need of replacement. As noted in other reviews, pots/pans available are sparse. Difficult to cook a meal for 6 or more people. You will need to bring EVERYTHING with you. Dishes and glasses needed to be cleaned before use...wine glasses were covered in a dusty, greasy film.
Bathrooms: Clean/ready for use. One small bar of soap was provided. Plenty of towels. Washer/Dryer works well ,laundry soap available.
Bedrooms: All guests thought beds were uncomfortable, as mentioned in other reviews. Bedrooms could have more lighting, very dark.
Safety: The property is on a steep hill leading to the lake. There are lots of stairs. Railing from stairs leading from kitchen are loose and unsafe. Pitch of stairs leading to lake are steep and lean forward. Property is full of exposed roots, making it dangerous to walk in the dark.
Privacy: Property Manager was on the property twice during our stay w/o knocking and introducing herself or notifying ahead of time. She said she was thinking of kayaking and had her dog with her. Second time was with a contractor.
*I do not recommend staying here. Over priced.

Thanks for a great vacation. Lovely cabin for our family vacation.

The house is beautiful.
Could add a few amenities, such as toothbrush holders, hand soaps in all bathrooms, and like others have stated, salt and pepper and some basic spices. There are no serving platters and no baking dishes at all. I highly suggest adding.
And some basic tools, like a screwdriver, etc.
Definitely need to add an wifi extender, the service is terrible and get dropped from the wifi all day long.
Overall the house is great, pictures don't do it justice. It is big and roomy.

We had a wonderful time. The house was very nice and the lake is gorgeous. The grandkids had a great time swimming in the lake and with the trampoline. Host was very quick to respond to any question. That was really appreciated. We left a baby blanket behind and when I contacted Derek he responded right away he would send it to us. Wonderful house and host. Would definitely recommend this property. We will definitely be coming back.

I will say tho, the place has lots of potential & the host was very responsive, apologetic & proactive on tending to certain issues! I believe they mentioned they are new owners of the place
One of the disappointing things and an important heads up to anyone else who stays there in the future, is that they provide limited to no basic kitchen amenities … spices, cooking oil, tinfoil, dish rags, salt/pepper, one small cooking tray w no edges, tupperware, ect
Another issue we had was the landscaping & brush was completely overgrown & blocking the view from the deck … they sent someone over to clean it up somewhat & provide the proper view as shown on the listing, however the yard could still use significant improvements!
also, their dock is very outdated & it was unstable on the top portion … they sent a handyman over to secure some areas, but I was a little concerned that nobody checked that out prior to having guests there. The railing could’ve easily broken off if someone put their weight on it & leaned up against it! They did mention that they are on a waiting list for a brand new dock in the coming year or so
In terms of cleanliness…the carpet upstairs had a large stain & was sticky … the kitchen table was also sticky … all of the AC filters needed to be cleaned out & the vents were moldy :(
Again, the host seemed to appreciate the feedback/communication & I hope more improvements are made for future guests :)

When you spend close to $2,000 a day for a vacation rental, there is a reasonable expectation that everything will be as close to perfect as possible. Unfortunately, there were several disappointments that detracted from the very strong, positive aspects of the property. Unquestionably the interior of the house is well appointed, very attractive, clean and spacious.. There is a lack of attention to detail - lighting that was not functional, seating at a breakfast bar badly torn with exposed padding, dirty/stained picture windows that overlooked the water, broken dining area floor tiles with sharp edges that could cause injury, rippled carpeting in one of the bedrooms that is a trip hazard, a filthy bbq grill that required considerable cleaning prior to use, subpar pots/pans, dirty oven drawer, a steep, unsafe step down from the dining area to an outside stairway, a rocking chair with a broken seat, worn living room furniture, and a few other minor issues. Outdoors on the deck at the dock, there was a large umbrella that was broken and unusable. Our Grandchildren wanted to fish off the dock, but even though there were several fishing poles, only one was functional. It would have been great to have other recreational items available for the water - perhaps inner tubes, paddle board, or kayak. While nice outside - there is little or no landscaping that would make the property more appealing. Remember - at nearly $2,000 a day - these issues should not exist.

Beautiful place on the lake. So much room for us all to have our own space. We loved the extra large common area for us to just be able to hang out, visit, play games and relax.

This property is prime location. Not too close to the action, just far enough to feel you are on your own private island, but close enough to take a 15 minute drive to the activities the lake has to offer.
The home is beautiful, very clean, the kitchen is perfect! There was enough room for everyone to have a fun game night, hang outside, or retreat to our rooms for some down time and privacy.

We were 3 couples sharing this beautiful retreat. The log cabin was spacious, clean, with a huge rock fireplace. The views of the lake were spectacular. We went in late September and the leaves were starting to change. Easy drive to LG Village and even Boltons Landing. We were happily surprised at the nice selection of excellent restaurants near the cabin. The boat dock was beautiful and though it was a little chili to rent our own boat, we had a lovely afternoon on one of the charters. Derek answered immediately whenever we had a question. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed and the basket of s'mores were a nice touch. Lake George is a beautiful Crystal clear lake. We would rent it again in a heartbeat. Perfect place to gather with friends and family.

The family came from many different locations to visit the Adirondacks. We've been to many mountain locales in the west; Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, etc., but have not been to the east. We now have a better understanding of the fall colors because the variety of trees is stunning
This cabin is exactly what you imagine as a mountain and lake get away. It's tranquil and the location is close to a variety of day trips. Check in and out are easy and the hosts are very attentive. So, if you're looking for a family reunion location, this one is absolute perfection!!! .

Great escape!
We really enjoyed our stay at Pilot Knob. The location is great, water is calm, quiet. House has everything you need, clean, comfortable beds, spacious for the whole family. Dock with a balcony on the top was perfect spot for sunsets. We would love to come back and enjoy this beautiful lake house. Lake George village it’s only 10min away by boat or car. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Great property - wish we could have stayed longer!
This rental was the perfect place for my group to stay when we were in town for a wedding. Lots of space for everyone and the location is great. Wish we could have stayed longer to really enjoy the dock patio!

Beautiful cabin
We stayed here for a wedding weekend in Lake George and it was absolutely stunning! The house was cleanly and quaint. We enjoyed the morning views on the lake and especially the upper level on the dock. I would recommend staying here to anyone!

Longview is wonderful!
We stayed here with a large group, and everyone had an excellent time. The house was very clean, including the bedding and towels. The fire pit is amazing. We’d never seen a smokeless fire pit in action, so it was rather mesmerizing. The sun porch on top of the dock was a great place to relax and have a few beers. I highly recommend an early morning dip in the lake (water temp was 44F!). A little cold water shock to the system will do wonders for mental clarity.
All in all, Longview was a superb place to spend a weekend. We will for sure be back during the winter. Would love to be up this way for pond hockey season.

Great weekend getaway
Went up for a wintery weekend getaway from NYC and had a great time! The house was SUPER clean and inviting, views of the lake were great, definitely had the cozy cabin feel we were looking for with a lot of space.
We fit 8 very comfortably and could have fit a lot more.
The beds and pillows left something to be desired- we all stayed in different rooms and agreed the beds could definitely use mattress pads and softer pillows- and for the cold winter months it could definitely use a few space heaters in the living room, even with a big fire going in the fireplace.
The fireplace is grand and cozy- our favorite part! Just know you have to bring your own firewood, so definitely stop for some in town before you come. Would have been nice to have a few logs at the house the first night.
What is also nice to know is the kitchen is pretty well stocked with cooking/baking utensils which I appreciated!
Overall we would stay again and would love to check it out in the summer months as well!
