About this villa rental
DESCRIPTION: Cinnamon Ridge was chosen as HGTV's Caribbean House of the year in 2020. The villa is an elegant 5-bedroom 5.5 bath home with a pool, hot tub, and a Tesla battery backup system for your comfort. The villa was completely renovated in 2019 and the results are stunning. From top to bottom, every aspect of this home was designed with a guest's comfort in mind.
The home has a gated entrance, and you approach the villa from below and drive up to the parking area on the upper level. You will then follow the tropical walkway, which is beautifully accented with colorful flowers which you will enjoy as you make your way to the front entrance. Once you open your front door, you will be in awe as your eyes will be immediately drawn to the wall of glass that looks out to the ever-changing colors of the Caribbean blue seas.
The centerpiece of Cinnamon Ridge is the great room, which includes your kitchen, living and dining area, all which look out to the gorgeous views. On opposite sides of the great room are the two primary bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. There is an interior staircase down to the lower level, which includes three additional guest bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. From every room in this home, you have the spectacular views that will take your breath away.
For those of you that may have to do some work during your vacation, though we hope this is not the case, the owner has added Starlink Speed Internet, which has an upload speed of 32Mbps.
On the far left of the home is your expansive sun deck, which includes your private saltwater pool, hot tub, covered outside seating and wet bar area with a flat screen TV. If you are someone that prefers to have a heated pool, this amenity can be added to your reservation at an additional cost ($62 per day). Be sure to mention this at the time you make your reservation so everything will be set for your arrival.
If you are dreaming of a St. John getaway, make your reservations now for Cinnamon Ridge. Perfect for couples, families and everyone looking for an amazing island retreat.
LOCATION: Cinnamon Ridge is located 530 feet above the white sands of Cinnamon Bay, on St. John's fabulous north shore. This neighborhood is much like Peter Bay and is one of St. John's most beautiful and desirable settings. In this unspoiled setting in the midst of the National Park you are surrounded by a naturalist's world of sea, sky, and pristine parklands. To get to Cinnamon Ridge you drive past your neighbors on Watapama Road.
Cinnamon Ridge is the last home on this dead end road, and thanks to the private driveway, there is no drive by or turn around traffic (none). Even by St. John's high standards, this is an unusually peaceful, quiet and private location. The 200 degree view from every room is absolutely lovely and includes Tortola, Jost Van Dyke, a dozen other islands, turquoise seas, and powder white sand beaches. Cinnamon Bay, Trunk Bay, and Jumbie Bay lie below you and offer what travel writers have described as some of the world's finest swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing, and beaching.
It's a 15 minute drive into or from Cruz Bay, with the villa being accessed from either the Centerline Road or the North Shore Road. If traveling from the Centerline Road, you will drive by some sugar mill ruins on your way to the villa. If traveling the North Shore Road, it is a beautiful drive along the coastline into the National Park. You will make an invigorating turn up the hill for a fun and adventuresome ride. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended, as local taxi service is not available in this neighborhood.
LVING & DINING: The 700 sq. ft air-conditioned living room is spacious and beautifully decorated. You will comfortably settle into this living space. Stream your favorite shows on the flat screen TV or sit back with your favorite tropical beverage and gaze out to the turquoise seas and watch the boats glide by on the open water.
To the right of the living room is your interior dining area, which also shares the same spectacular views. The dining table comfortably seats 10 or if you prefer dining outside, there is a deck off the living room with an outside table that seats 8. For a casual lunch, there is a dining table on the sun deck which seats 6 as well as a covered area with table and chairs to relax with your morning coffee.
KTICHEN: The well-equipped kitchen is located behind the interior dining room and faces out to the amazing views. Should you choose to dine in, you will enjoy preparing a delicious meal while family and friends gather around the kitchen island. You will enjoy many laughs and create many memories during these times together. Or should you prefer to be pampered, hire a private chef and have them create a mouth-watering meal for you. Included in your kitchen is a gas cooktop stove, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker, K-cups, French press and the always important blender.
BEDROOMS: Each of the 5 air-conditioned bedrooms are beautifully decorated and accented with soothing and serene colors, perfect for lulling you into a restful night's sleep. The 2 primary bedrooms are located on the main level, each with a king bed, ocean views, and a bathroom, with stone tiled showers. The 3 additional guest bedrooms are located on the lower level and are accessed by an interior staircase. The air-conditioned guest bedrooms (1 king, 2 twins that convert to a king, and 2 queens) include en-suite bathrooms and are connected by a common hallway, making the layout perfect for families traveling with children. All the bedrooms include flat screen smart TVs, screen sliders that can be opened to the tropical breezes, and private balconies.

The house was beautiful inside and out! Gorgeous views!! The management team was very attentive. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience to celebrate my 50th birthday with some of my closest friends.

This is a really special property. It is tough for pictures to do this place justice. The views and location are simply breath taking. While the journey in and out takes some getting used to, after the first few trips it becomes easy and is well worth it to be perched high above Cinnamon Bay. The house was spacious, with lots of indoor / outdoor space to enjoy. It had plenty of AC in the bedrooms and a lovely pool and hot tub. We loved it!

The property, the house and the views are absolutely amazing. We had to tear ourselves away from the view and force ourselves to visit other parts of the island! The house was clean and well appointed with everything we needed. Beautifully stocked kitchen, beach chairs, etc. The driveway does take a bit to get used to A Wrangler (not just anything Jeep makes) is a must. Don’t let the rental car co. tell you otherwise! Our only issue was with the pool and hot tub. The pool had not been serviced in a while before we got to the house despite someone supposedly coming up there to turn the pool heat on. We emptied the skimmer and robot ourselves and skimmed the leaves. We paid about $500 to heat the pool but the water was cold and the water recirculating into the pool was the same temp so I don’t think the heat was ever on. The hot tub was murky and we couldn’t figure out how to get the control panel to turn on so it didn’t matter. We did not complain about the pool or hot tub but on the last day of our stay someone came and drained the hot tub and then ran out of water trying to refill it so we had no water on the peppery until maintenance came and “fixed” it. We were out at the time this happened and no one called to tell us we had no water. We found that out when we stopped by to rinse off from the beach on our way to lunch and I called the property mgmt when we realized the problem but they already knew. Other than this hiccup our stay was amazing and we will be back again!

Clean, beautiful property. Clear communication and above and beyond accommodating property management. I particularly love the inside access bedrooms - we didn't bring this kids this time but will for the next! The house is at the end of the dead end road so it is very peaceful and relaxing. We felt like we were on top of the world! Highly recommend and will be back!

My daughter and I had an amazing stay at Cinnamon Ridge. Caribbean Villas was so helpful from start to finish and we can not wait to go back. I have been to St. John many times and this home and management company was the best.

Omg I don’t even know where to begin! From the ease of booking, to meeting our island greeter down at the dock ,and then our stay, our experience was 5 star. The communication from the management company was top notch - they were knowledgeable, friendly and gave us great recommendations. The villa was clean, furniture was comfortable, the beds were heavenly, and often found ourselves getting lost in the endless ocean views. Our teens basically lived in the pool the entire time! We are already in the works to rebook for next year. There’s no need to be on the fence when Cinnamon Ridge is a contender… you won’t regret it! Thanks for a lovely stay. We will be back!

Jaw Dropping Views
We just got back from our April 2022 spring break vacation with family and friends. Must say that the pictures are accurate, the views are unimaginable; couldn't stop staring out at Cinnamon Bay and the BVIs. The house is very much as described and would recommend it without hesitation. Just a few things to note/keep in mind. To say the villa driveway is steep at the end is an understatement. Once you pass the gate, it is straight up. When they say you need a Jeep, its a must. It was a bit nerve-wracking for some of the folks in our group, but it also wouldn't stop us from renting it again. Second, don't buy any coffee filters. Its a drip-coffee maker, but only makes one cup at a time with a built-in filter. There was a Keurig as well, but we didn't use it. Third, folks have left plenty of floats, noodles, etc and there's a decent amount of beach chairs. Lastly, the only drawback is the bird poop. The deck off the kitchen/living area and the table adjacent to it were covered in bird poop. Completely understand that its something inevitable since the villa is in the middle of nature, but just thought folks should be aware of it. To end on a good note, don't let the lack of air conditioning in the living areas deter you from renting this place. If you leave the doors open, it cools off in no time and we didn't have any issues with bugs coming in, even at night.

Can't Beat the View!
We stayed at Cinnamon Ridge for a week in June 2016. There haven't been many recent reviews, so I wanted to be sure to add one. It was just two of us, so the villa was way more than we needed. But the price was competitive with smaller villas and we really wanted the view.
After reading previous reviews the villa was what we expected it to be. It is an older property that may have fallen into disrepair at some point. But the kitchen and top, west master bedroom were recently renovated and that was essentially our entire living space for this trip. It was not luxurious but was sufficient for what we needed. And those views...
We didn't have any major issues. Unfortunately the fountain on the pool was not working when we arrived. The greeter offered to have someone come out to fix it but we declined. We preferred our privacy. We did have two unexpected visitors. The gardeners showed up one afternoon (we were not given a schedule of any services) and someone stopped by to check the water pump after an island wide power outage. Not a huge issue, but would have been nice to know they were coming.
The bed was comfortable and everything worked. The oven, stove, toaster, refrigerator and grills all worked great and met our needs. It was very well equipped. The shower in the master bathroom felt like an outdoor shower, with nice stone and skylights.
There is no air conditioning. The first night was rough due to the heat and humidity. But it quickly cooled off with the evening breezes, and once were were acclimated it was fine. The night the power went off was a little rough with no fans for cooling. Our biggest issue was the noise. Some people say they love sleeping to the sounds of the frogs and insects. For us it was hell. Fortunately I remembered our snorkeling earplugs and the sound problem was solved.
The road into the area is a combination of paved and unpaved. Some areas were quite rough. But it is similar to everywhere else you go on the island and was easy to handle. It's quite a distance from town, so keep that in mind if you plan to go in and out frequently. We decided to risk the road that continues north to the north shore road. It was in good shape and was a fantastic shortcut to the north shore beaches.
We probably won't return. We prefer AC and didn't like the drive. But I'm glad we stayed and would recommend it to others. The folks at Caribbean Villas were great to work with. And those views...!

Hard to beat this stay
Wow, we had a group of nine friends and family and this was a perfect place for us. The view is as incredible as the pictures lead you to believe. I couldn't wait to wake up every morning to look out over Cinnamon Bay. We were there in July for eight nights, there is no A/C but it was fine, one night was warm, one night was cool, and the rest comfortable. Love having the house completely open. Every bedroom has a million dollar view ($4 million view I guess as it was for sale when we were there). It's an interesting Jeep drive to get to it, it was shocking the first time and we loved it every time after that. One of our favorite things about it. Alone in the middle of the national park and it makes us still talk about how to get back there as quick as possible.

A perfect week to remember - forever!
This was our first stay at Cinnamon Ridge and although the photos on the websites were accurate, the villa and the location were even better than what we had been expecting. There were six of us, all women and all college friends on a 30 years later reunion excursion. We had so many choices on St. John that we just couldn’t decide what to do, so we used a St. John villa company for advice and after a lot of discussions with Caribbean Villas and Resorts, we decided on Cinnamon Ridge and it was an excellent choice The setting within the National Park was really extraordinary, so private and quiet and naturally beautiful. The only sounds we heard all week were the songbirds, the wind rustling through the palms and the constant laughter and stories of college friends, together again after 30 years. The first time we drove along the access road in Cinnamon Bay we were a bit apprehensive, but on the second day we got used to the road and were coming and going like we were back in the suburbs. That week was so special; the villa, the unbelievable setting, St. John and six college girls all joined together to create a remarkable moment in time.

Exactly what we wanted!
This home was exactly as it appears in the photos. We hope to stay here again. The drive up to the house is a little bumpy and full of curves, but do not let that stop you. Rent a Jeep. The views are worth every effort and expense.
