About this bed and breakfast
Look no further, your search for the perfect DC vacation spot is now complete! This Historic Mass Ave NE space originally built in the 1880’s, was completely restored in the 1990's and then was restored again in May 2017- it offers everything on your list of must-haves: historic charm, modern comfort, and an extremely convenient location in the heart of Historic Capitol Hill, next to Stanton Park, blocks from the Senate, Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, shops, restaurants, and Whole Foods.
This one-level penthouse is located on the third level and comfortably sleeps 6 adults. One traditional bedroom and with a 2nd loft-style bedroom/living room with Queen bed and a pull-out couch. There’s a ROKU TV in the loft bedroom/living area with and chair and ottoman (The second bedroom is a loft-style living room bedroom in cove area and shares the broader space with the sleeper sofa). There is 1 full bathroom. The space features over approximately 1,000 square feet of livable area, new queen beds, a modern and equipped kitchen (gas stove, microwave, but no oven); bathroom with custom tile work, and a LED HDTV ROKU TV with high-speed wireless internet.
Located within walking distance of everything you need and want to see: the National Mall, Whole Foods, H Street, Trader Joe’s and Lincoln Park, but there are also two Metro stops within a 10 minute walk (Eastern Market and Union Station) and several bus stops within a block. Also, there are several bus touring companies that begin at Union Station that I highly recommend.
This is a well established tight knit neighborhood with a lots of senators, families, dog parks, old Victorian homes, and tree-lined streets. Eastern Market, Barracks Row (8th street) and the H Street Corridor are flooded with restaurants and great shops. Breakfast at Market Lunch (Eastern Market) is known for its Blueberry pancakes (likely the best in town). Union Station and Eastern Market are the closest Metro stations less than a 10 minute walk away. Just a couple of blocks to the Senate, Supreme Court, U.S. Capitol. Our neighborhood is quiet and residential, home to Members of Congress and their families, yet only blocks away from the city’s political epicenter and a multitude of restaurants, bars, coffee-houses and shopping, everything DC has to offer will be at your doorstep!
PARKING: On-street parking requires a zoned parking permit, which is provided free of charge for guests to park one vehicle during their stay upon request. Parking for additional vehicles we recommend SpotHero App. PLEASE REQUEST PARKING PASS WHEN MAKING YOUR RESERVATION.

We enjoyed this historical place, very comfortable, well-kept and close to everything by walk. Very nice and reactive hosts to be mentioned too. We definitely recommend this rental for holidays in Washington DC.

Beautiful property built in 1880s. Very comfortable beds. Location close to capital hill and many historical sites.

Wonderful East coast charm coming from the West Coast! Great location!

Quaint, clean, traditional brownstone located in an adorable neighborhood. Close to local transportation and walkable to some sight-seeing. We felt completely safe walking home at night with children. Great shower and beds. No napkins or paper towels so if you're doing any meals there, you might want to pick that up. We would definitely stay there again.

It worked out well for all the places we wanted to visit. It was comfortable and we had everything we needed.

Perfect place! Minutes from the train station and the Capitol. We were there during some of the coldest weather on recent record, and the owner was helpful turning up the heat and providing space heaters. Responsive, accessible landlord was a great comfort during the inclement weather
Fully stocked kitchen was a big help as we were nearly snowed in! a market, great restaurants, pubs and amenities (nails, etc) all just steps away - lyft/uber low cost to many attractions
Not wheelchair accessible -- otherwise - a charming, conveniently located winner w/ great hosts!

Property was convenient to the DC attractions (on the US Supreme Court end of town) and reasonably priced for the location. Plenty of room for 4 people.

Overall, we slept well and were comfortable

Comfortable for two couples (only one bathroom so you have to be okay with that). There is a door on the living room with the other bed so it is basically a two bedroom.
Quiet, convenient, nice neighborhood. A pleasant place to spend some days in DC.

1. Their listing SPECIFICALLY ADVERTISES FREE PARKING AS A "GETCHYA". 2. They then specifically have their listing set up (which no vrbo listing I have seen in the past FIFTEEN years has done) to give you the "choice" to pay a ridiculous non-refundable insurance fee of $59 (on top of their $133 cleaning and admin fees) in case they c l a i m there is anything left out of place, OR a $1,000 deposit. You must choose one; and with that system, it's clear they intend to keep your money, so of course you're going to choose handing over another $59 to them rather than risk more. 3. Then -- AFTER YOU HAVE BOOKED -- they send ridiculous instructions on hoops to jump through to get parking pass; something renters clearly have had issues with in the past (as they do not want to lift a finger / be put out of their way assisting their client). And, 4. IF YOU DARE ASK / QUESTION (not follow the militaristic instructions)... They cancel your reservation at 10 p.m. the night before your family trip. Best part: We ended up staying at a fantastic place, for less $$$ (even with losing their garnered $59 insurance fee, which seemingly is their goal/game), in a far better neighborhood. We had a wonderful trip, because we didn't have to deal with these guys. STAY AWAY.

Pros: The property is in a great location, in a cool neighborhood not far from all the major attractions. It had everything we needed for our family of four: comfy beds, nice linens, basic bathroom and kitchen necessities, air conditioning.
Cons:
The kitchen could use some more storage space, shelves, and more utensils (we found exactly four spoons) in order to make it a more user-friendly space. Microwave on top of the fridge = not convenient.
I would NOT recommend this property based on a shockingly negative and unprofessional interaction with the property manager. He had been very responsive and helpful up to that point. After that we felt very unsafe and couldn't wait to leave.

We were visiting a friend for a couple of days & this was perfect for our stay. We were within walking distance of her house & all of the sites we wanted to hit. We felt safe in this neighborhood & parking was easy & a huge bonus. The owner communicated quickly any time we had a question. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a really nice stay at Eric's brownstone apartment. Walking distance or short Uber to restaurants and downtown attractions. Easy checkin and checkout. Bonus on free parking. Would highly recommend.

Condo was perfect for our needs. Location is outstanding - short walk to the Capitol and to a couple Metro stations. We had everything we needed and the instructions and info the owners left was really helpful for navigating DC.

Watch out for parking on Thursday’s mornings on the street outside the house. It’s has no parking in the morning for cleaning. Caught us out and we got a ticket!

Close to Capital & convenient to walk to mall. We loved the character of it being an old house- so neat! Immediate conversation through text about a potential need but ended up being nothing- still he came by to check to be certain if we needed anything Perfect short trip. If we are in D.C. again we will definitely stay here again.

This apartment was very nice - well laid out, clean, spacious and very nicely decorated. It's a quiet, very residential neighborhood that's convenient to the Capitol and the Mall. The advertised "loft space" is just a bed in the living room but it was fine for our needs.

We stayed here with 3 adults snd 2 teenagers 15&17 . Plenty of space , close to federation triangle . We walked and cycled everywhere . Supermarket was close and Eric’s description is just as it is , even the 900 m walk from union station . Would highly recommend the house . We really appreciated the washing machine and dryer as hadn’t had access to

Visited DC for my daughter's birthday. This was a charming historic home in a lovely neighborhood. Excellent communication and easiest check in experience we've had to date. Be aware of narrow staircase and entry way for those traveling with large luggage. Overall, a great experience!

Everything was very smooth and location is great. Property is clean but could use some minor maintenance on AC and bathroom. Not perfect but much better than staying in a hotel.

Great location!
This apartment worked well for our group of 4 grandparents and two teens. It’s very convenient to national mall — though we did walk about 50 miles this week! The host was responsive to our questions— though he did forget to send us info about how to get in the building, a small snafu. Overall, we were very pleased; we had everything we needed (though we were surprised there is no oven), and the apartment is well kept.

This was perfect for my family of 2 teens. Close enough to walk to all the sites. Close to a grocery store. Wonderful place. Owners were very responsive and accommodating. Definitely would stay again.

Loved the neighborhood
This was a great find in a great location. So close to the National Mall, Food, Parks, and Shopping. It is a beautiful old home and as such there are a lot of steep stairs to climb so I don't recommend for those with mobility needs. The unit had everything we needed and has very comfortable beds and bedding. My 9 year old particularly loved the stuffed rhino. It is a little tight for 6 people with only one bathroom but we knew that and chose the awesome location over a more spacious rental. Great location, great price. We loved it. Thank you.

Nice apartment
The property was as represented. The neighborhood was quiet and secure, except for the birds in the early morning! Very nice area and within walking distance from everything we needed. Would definitely consider staying here again.

Perfect space and location
We couldn’t have asked for a better location. There was plenty of beds for our family of 4. It was clean while also looking historic. I loved being able to see the street out of the front windows and all of the birds out of the back.

Good Location
The location of the property is within walking distance from the Capitol, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress buildings. While parallel parking on the street is free provided you can find a space, it's important to know that you must have a permit to park there so be sure to start that process a week in advance. Be aware, too, that the unit is on the top floor of the building requiring an ascent of 18 narrow stairs once inside the building. It is definitely not handicap accessible. The building has charm and the unit was clean. We experienced a problem with the microwave and refrigerator. The manager was not very helpful but did manage to have a handyman correct the issue the penultimate day of our stay. We lost the refrigerated food we had brought and bought for the stay. The beds were comfortable and furnishings adequate. There were notes posted to the refrigerator. One note advised not to use the iron, TV, coffee maker, microwave, and several computers or phones simultaneously due to overloading the breaker box. We used two phone chargers and still the microwave and refrigerator failed to work. I thought it was an issue with the multiple extension cords supporting the kitchen appliances but I was not informed what caused them not to work for most of our stay. The second note advised that from 10 pm to 8 am was a no tolerance quiet period and violations are subject to forfeited deposits. So, if you speak loudly or play devices too loudly during those hours be aware of the consequences. Despite the kitchen appliance problems I do recommend the property due to its location provided you are not averse to the narrow stairs, and you are not loud during the quiet periods. I'd recommend bring an ice chest as a back up for refrigeration. Be aware that the manager wishes to be contacted ONLY through the VRBO app. I was advised unless there is an emergency, do not contact by text.

Lovely Spot on Capitol Hill
Though it may be a 15-20 min walk to the metro, this neighborhood was lovely. And the host was very responsive. Would recommend to others and may be back ourselves.

We had a great time. The place was as advertised. We will definitely return! The host was excellent and promptly responsive. Thank you!

Beautiful historic apartment
We loved this apartment. It’s historic charm was so cool. And the location was perfect for our stay in DC, we were able to walk to the attractions we wanted to see. Our teenage boys slept comfortably in one room and we had the more private room near the bathroom. This rental had everything we needed and more. The hosts were super nice and were available whenever we had a question and even offered restaurant suggestions.

Perfect DC Apartment! Safe neighborhood, great location!
Loved renting this apartment! It was perfect for our family of 4 (kids 9 and 7 yrs old). We had plenty of space. The location is very close to the city and we felt really safe. Whole Foods is close by! Parking is included and always easy to find.
The decor inside is really cute. The beds are super comfy (my daughter said it felt as if she was sleeping on a marshmallow) and we had what we needed in the kitchen. The owners left a folder with info about food/ restaurants/ local attractions nearby, which was handy. We would recommend this apartment! If we return to DC we would stay here again.

Exceptional Property & Definitely stay again!
LOVED the location and quaint neighborhood vibe. 4 adults slept comfortably, place was clean, cute and perfect. Eric was extremely responsive with any questions I had throughout booking and our stay. Would stay here again!

Location great
Kitchen area is very dark, only one lamp that did not light the cooking area, and we recommended to provide several more towels when guests noted are 6, as there was 6 of us for 4 nights and we had 4 total towels and no kitchen towel to dry hands on just a dishrag, so luckily we flew separate by a day and my husband brought a couple towels in his suitcase to help. But location is great one block to metro bus. And bike share right outside and easy walk to Capitol or many times we walked to eastern market metro.

Great Value and Location
This property has the perfect location. It's a cute, safe neighborhood and close to everything. Our family of 4 were quite comfortable here. The beds were comfortable. The location was clean and had all the amenities we needed. I gave it an overall rating of 4 because it could use some TLC. I would definitely stay here again. It's a great value and comfortable!

The host was over the top amazing from the minute I booked until we left. The apartment's location is perfect for checking out the sites, restaurants, shopping or just relaxing. The unit itself was adorable, clean and ideal for our group. We had six adults for a weekend getaway and never felt cramped at all. Would book this spot again and again!

The proximity to so many things, with the flexibility to park (access our car if desired) made this such a pleasant vacation stay! Host was great, friendly, and very accommodating.
