Great House with lots of space and bathrooms! It was nice to have a full bathroom on each floor. Short walk to the water from the back deck and a quick ride to downtown. The kitchen lacked counter space, it could definitely use an island. Where it lacked counter space it was made up for with pots, pans and utensils. Perfectly situated where it is about the same distance to Oquossoc and downtown Rangeley. Boat rental and Jetski next door! Over all I would rent this property again!

We stayed at Sam-O-Set with another family and had a great stay. There was plenty of room for everyone to be together or give the kids some space in the downstairs living room. House location was great- easy to get into town for skating and sledding. Would definitely stay again!

Bunk Room is missing light switch.
Could not locate trashbags.
2nd year renting, and seems to be very dust heavy, fixtures and etc need to be dusted.
Main living room TV remote could not be found.
Place was amazing as usual the items above are just minor critiques that we're noticed :) Can't wait for next year looking to book again!!

Setting is lovely. Excellent views despite the new home being built (finished) right in front of the lake view. Large lawn between lodge and water was great playground for grandchildren. Dock was a moderate walk from home. Great that kayaks and paddles were sitting right at dock for our use. Beach had rocky surface where one wades but was usable. Would take water shoes if feet are sensitive. Hot tub worked well.
Home was large enough for our group of 11. Kitchen well appointed. Plenty of spaces to relax and enjoy family, views, etc. Large and solid kitchen table was good for us as we ate all our meals there.
Bedrooms in cellar suffered from moisture and moldiness especially in back bunk room - we could not use it and set up a makeshift sleepover setup for the grandkids each evening in the living room on the main floor. They liked that but it was a fair bit of work to set up each evening. Other bedrooms were adequate.
"Smart-house" features were a mixed bag, in the sense that some automatic lights going on were desirable, especially in the foyer in back. But many were irritating especially at night when they at times woke up others as one made their way to the bathrooms. The feeling of possibly being "watched" was somewhat off-putting to a few of us, but not in fact a big deal. The inability to regulate outdoor lighting on the deck made stargazing difficult because of "light pollution" that could not be modified unless no one walked out on the deck for the period when others were star-gazing.
Bathrooms in general were small but adequate.
Overall cleanliness was excellent. However, supplies were marginal as we had to personally buy replacement garbage bags and dish soaps mid way during our 3 night stay.

Property was clean, spacious, and the grounds were lovely. We enjoyed the lake view while sitting on the large wrap around deck and the use of kayaks right off the dock in the backyard was wonderful. It was equipped with most everything we needed for our multi-family vacation. We would have liked some additional seating to use around the dining table, since we were a party of 11 and there were only 6 seats. Great getaway with amazing views. Highly recommend

The house was amazing. Well layed out and very roomy. Great kitchen and dining area. Living room was large and comfortable, with large TV screen adaptable to inputs such as audio bluetooth, and lots of channels, including free programs for the kids.
Great glass wall on the lake side, making for a nice view of the lake and hills beyond. Beds were very comfortable. The 5 bedrooms provided adequate space and privacy for the eight of us.
We enjoyed the fire pit and had marshmallow fights on the large grassy area. And the hot tub was a great plus.
This was the third time we've rented on Rangeley Lake, in addition to one year on Lake Mooselookmeguntic. We like to fish and always had a dock to tie our boat up overnight, except at this location. We did have a mooring though, but it was tough taking the kayak out in the winds (and rain) most days to get to the boat, then get back to shore when we done fishing. The shoreline was very slight and not really conducive to swimming. We did take the family to the state park nearby, where we were able to swim.
The park itself is great, and the boat launch there is excellent.

My family and I had a nice vacation at this property. The house is very well maintained and fully equipped. The layout of the house is very well suited for multiple families. Plenty of thing to do in the area hiking, swimming and fishing. Nearby grocery store and gift shops.

Had a great time!!! Really loved the modernization of the home with automations and Roku tvs.
Hot tub was also pleasant!
Suggestions: relocate the camera by the hot tub as it caused some privacy concerns for females that were using the hot tub. The shower heads are clogged and need to be cleaning it almost makes the showers unusable. The bidet in the basement appears to be broken or installed incorrectly.

This home is beautiful, huge wrap around deck, large yard (great for kids), awesome hot tub, great location. We had a great stay, however would not return to this home due to the “smart” features (rustic charm would've been more appropriate here rather than updated technology). The lights are all pre-programmed on sensors. Doesn't sound like a big deal until you have families sleeping in different areas and a kid has trouble sleeping and walks through the house- the whole area lights up and doesn't go off until it times out- then another kid does it an hour later, then someone gets up to use the bathroom.. you see where this is going. The smart features were a HUGE annoyance. The shower heads in all 3 bathrooms are the worst, absolutely terrible, which is too bad because the house has great water pressure. Overall a beautiful house in a great location with a few things that could be easily fixed to make it perfection.

House was clean. We appreciated the use of 6 kayaks. Boat rental right next door was great. Appliances were all modern and working well. We weren't pleased that the description of the property didn't identify that the house was located in the middle of a culdesac with other houses. There were a lot of people nearby. One house, right on the water, had a dog that barked for an hour straight. Also, its a bit strange with the owner living on the property as well. Plus, I personally wasn't excited by the smart home upgrades, I felt like I was being watched, by the house, by the owner, and by the multitude of neighbors! Mostly I thought the description of the house wasn't fair, it isn't privately located at all. And because you don't get the address until the last minute, its impossible from the descriptions and photos to tell that there are all those other houses around.

Fantastic Vacation
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lodge. The house is large and open with beautiful views of the lake. It was very quiet most of our stay. The home was clean with plenty of towels for our small family. The kitchen was well equipped as we cooked a few dinners at home. The area is incredibly beautiful. We did multiple hikes in the area. We also rode ATVs and rented jet skis one day. My husband and son also did a half day fly fishing outing and they both caught multiple fish. We rented two paddleboards and the house had 4 kayaks so we were often on the lake. You won't regret renting this home! I miss the loons already but I guess we need to come back to spot a moose. The renting process was seamless. Also the hot tub was great!

Great House - Plenty of room
The house was great and very well appointed. The kitchen worked well for our group of 10 people. The lake location was good too. Everything was comfortable. A couple of things we would have liked to see - more chairs in the dining room. The house says it sleeps 16 but we could only find 8 chairs to sit at the table. We moved some benches around and made it work. The home automating was neat but hard to work with as short term guests. Lights would go on in the middle of the night when someone was up and about and the porch lights went on everytime someone got up for a beer. little things that did not take away from our stay but could help future renters.

Great place
Our family had an incredible time during our stay. We love the Rangeley area and this property in particular was perfect. The house is great - plenty of space, reliable WiFi (including desk, docking station, office setup, etc.), a great deck, hot tub and a large yard that was perfect for lawn games. We're hoping to make this property an annual summer destination for our family. Thanks so much!

Great lakeside retreat for multiple families
Sam O Set Lodge is the perfect house and location on Rangeley Lake for a multi-family vacation. The house is spacious, well-equipped, well-maintained and can easily accomodate two or three families. The kitchen is proportioned and has all of the essentials. The internet service is good (which is unusual in Rangeley). The location is very nice with great morning light. It is close to both Rangeley Village and Oquossoc. We have rented over 20 different camps in Rangeley and this is easily amongst the top two. You can't go wrong.

Wonderful home with lots of amenities. The only comment is that there are no wine glasses and there is no where on a weekend to buy them. Then we found some and they were $15 a piece. Otherwise the house exceeded our expectations. Thank you
