The house needs a good clean. There are cobwebs on the bedroom lamps. The hot tub was green. The windows and sliding doors are filthy. I’ve seen the same feedback from previous guests this summer and I was hoping it would have been addressed by now

We had a great family vacation at the lake house! There is plenty of space for everyone. The beach entry is great and the boat house is awesome. I agree with most of the reviews, damaged cabinets, small holes in the walls, non working TVs and water pressure issues. None of these issues were that big of a deal and did not stop us from having a great time.

The is place could be great! The location is really nice, and the WiFi is good. Other than those two things there isn’t much good to say. When I booked the home in April of 2024 it listed as 7 bedrooms, a few weeks before our arrival I noticed it changed to 3 bedrooms. No one was able to give me an answer or assure me that our group would still fit but we went anyway hopeful it would work out. We arrived to 6 bedrooms and some bunk beds in the basement rec area and a VERY dirty home. The air duct in the kitchen is covered in a thick layer of grease and dust, dog hair was everywhere, the sofa and chairs are so stained we didn’t want to sit on them without putting a blanket down first. Only 1 TV in the whole house works. I was told they were coming to fix that but the maintenance person was not able to and the xfinity rep never came. The hot tub was unusable because the chemicals were not right and it smelled terrible (and not like chlorine). There were lights filled with dead bugs, a major ant issue in the kitchen that caused us to lose a lot of food, lights that don’t work for the path to the dock, the dock furniture requires cushions but there are none so it’s terribly uncomfortable, the house and dock are both in need of repairs and maintenance but it’s clear that the property management company is content to continue to let things deteriorate. I reported issues and was told they were sorry but nothing ever got resolved. For the price paid I was expecting a little more.

Great view. Nice house. Plenty of space. Quick follow up from our guest service rep.

The house was very nice, plenty of space and interior was very accommodating. Kitchen was lacking a few things - wine opener, scissors, but overall worked well. Location was fantastic! That's why you're at the lake - for the views and access to the water. The boat house and dock were great, kids loved the beach and kayaks/paddleboards. We would stay here again!

Beautiful views and very relaxing! Kitchen is well stocked!

Great location. Nice home. Fantastic dock. However, many things in state of disrepair. Drawers and shelves in refrigerators broken. Dining room chairs falling apart, in some places held together with zip ties. Drawer face broken off in kitchen. Bunk beds rickety. Tried tightening, but screws and bolts missing. Kids were scared to sleep in the bunks and chose the sofas and floors instead. Grill on main level had front handle broken off and grill did not have propane. Grill on ground level was a cheap and low quality, but it did work. One of the video game consoles on the ground floor did not work. Some reviews complained about property being dirty. The inside was reasonably clean, but there are broken parts from various parts of the house just sort of laying around. The outside is a different issue. The home is badly in need of being power washed, the screens and sliding screen doors are falling apart, and there are broken parts (sometimes from inside) laying around in places. Fantastic location and a great property we’d 100% stay at again IF the state of repair is addressed. Some is probably repair, but frankly some is money needs to be put in replacing a bunch of things.

Property was a great size for our family-8 adults and 4 children and 2 dogs. Having two boat slips for the 2 boats and a nice boathouse was wonderful. Beach was great ! Those are pluses. One of these reviews says the refrigerator was a new one (sorry-we stayed here 3 years ago and the refrigerator was the same and falling apart then). The outside patio furniture should be pitched-cushions are filthy and there are lots of holes in the rattan. The dishwasher also not repaired-almost fell out of its place and broke someone's foot while it was being loaded the first night. Tv in our master bedroom never worked .Dining room chair still broken There was a new bed delivered for the broken one and the falling diswasher got fixed after we called.Kitchen pans pretty gross. This could be a great deal-location and amenities but please-we paid a lot for our stay-need to fix up this place.

Nice location, some maintenance areas in serious need of attention. Better dusting/surface cleaning badly needed.

This is the second time we've rented on Lake Anna and we were very disappointed. When we arrived at the house, it was very dirty. The sink was a mess, the floors hadn't been cleaned and there were cobwebs everywhere. Then we realized there was no water. After I called vacasa, they did send people out to do a touch-up clean and maintenance on the well. We were without water for about 3 hours, that meant no bathrooms after a 3 hour trip. We were told to limit our showers and not to run the water much or the well could run dry again. The dishwasher about fell on top of my cousin while bending down loading it bc it isn't secured. And don't lean on the deck railings bc they are really loose and felt unsafe. Other than all that, the house was a great size and the property was beautiful. If these issues were taken care of prior to our arrival, like it should have been, it would have been a great vacation.

We’ve stayed at a number of Lake Anna homes and this is -by far- the nicest. The waterfront lake house and beach area are great! Home is spacious and comfortable! The only down sides are 1. The bedroom without a bathroom as others mentioned. 2. The Wi-Fi is terrible— although that seems to be a constant in this area. 3. The outdoor furniture cushions at the lake either aren’t there or are filthy. (Suggest getting furniture that doesn’t require cushions.). We would definitely consider renting this house again!

We visiting Lake Anna for my daughters 20th birthday and had family and friends staying with us. The yard, beach, and dock were all great. We rented a boat during our visit and there were two marina's close by (for fuel and supplies) and the home is centrally located on the lake with easy access to the north and south of the 208 bridge. There was a nice shaded area on the deck that is just outside of the dining/living room and the same down at the dock. The house was clean, well equiped, and suitable for groups of all sizes. We will definitely stay here again.

Had a great time. Few small fixes with the house and it could be 5 star. Needs a deep clean, multiple stains on couch, outside cushions also have a lot if stains. One sink required us to buy drano. Some ling hairs in another sink upon arrival. Beds are not very comfortable
Location, perfect
Dock, top notch
Outdoor fire pit, nice addition
Floats and water equipment, nice
Overall nice place, for the price I wish it was a little cleaner. 4/5 stars
Be ready to walk some stairs!! Helps work off the s'mores:-)

There were plenty of water toys. Great patio and fire pit. Watching the sunset over the water in front of the fire was unbelievable.
The property in general is very nice. Plenty of things to do inside if it rains. Games for every age group. Beach was great. Everything you need is located right at the waters edge.

Has good potential, but there is better out there
Read until the end of the review to really evaluate if this property is for you!
Pro:
Easy to find, easy to get into! *close to Dukes marina & about 10 mins from Lake Anna Taphouse / other food options
Lots of rooms, different size of beds and rooms with bathrooms attached
Huge kitchen! Has a lot of items you would need
Boat dock! Good if you re renting a boat over night
Cons:
Dirty! Lots of water damage and spider webs every where. I get we re at the lake, I grew up in a rural area, going to a cabin. But this place is not cared for. There is mold growing on the ceiling in the basement. THE FURNITURE has stains everywhere (for example, hard white spots on the couch in the basement, the chair in the living room by the kitchen has a huge stain on it, the curtains - a tan color, stains everywhere)
The beds - not comfortable at all. We used all the rooms and everyone but one room
Complained that the beds were lumpy or uncomfortable. The pillows are flat/old - so if you rent BRING YOUR OWN.
The dishwasher smells of mildew and has mold in the bottom. We chose to hand wash our dishes the first day then went out and bought paper plates and silverware. It smelled so bad after it ran!
The grass was very long and full of weeds, so it was hard for us to play yard games or the kids to play out there. They did come day 3 to mow, but think they would have arranged this prior to guests coming and paying as they use it for a selling point
The outside - full of bugs and spiders/spider webs, it doesn’t seem as they ever spray or power wash outside in preparation for guests. We couldn’t use any of the furniture outside as it was covered in dirt and webs. Down at the dock…. The fans and lights didn’t work. We did notify them but no one ever came.
I personally won’t rent the space again. Though it’s a great location and great for a big house, the cleanliness of it is just too extreme for what we paid per night. The lack of communication was also disheartening for what we paid as we had two issues when we were there.
Best of luck!

The waterfront is amazing. Perfect walk-in beach, wonderful supply of inflatable water toys. Awesome kayaks. Nice fire pit chairs nearby. Fun dock for jumping. Also, the view of the sunsets was like no other. It truly feels idyllic!
Downstairs rec room was fun and handy with the 1.5 extra refrigerators. Upstairs kitchen and family room was very nice with open layout. Also, very nice that all bathrooms came with handsoap and basic toiletries.
Only major issues to be aware of are the bedrooms, water supply, and baby gates. One of the middle rooms has a double-bed, not a Queen. Also, one of the middle King rooms has no bathroom, and since that floor has no hall bath, you need to walk downstairs to use a bath that's already shared btw 2 bedrooms. So, that's more of a pain than you might realize esp if not everyone is close family.
Also, we had no water issues at all, but there was signage in the kitchen saying you need to space out showers. It's possible this issue has been fixed with external water tanks, which is wonderful. If so, please remove the sign so everyone is not so paranoid about a septic problem.
Finally, be aware that the babygates aren't adequate, even though they look to be fine in the pictures.
Overall, we had a great time, but rest was a bit of a challenge.

House was good, but the upkeep was sad.
I loved the house and the location but I felt like I was walking up to an abandoned home with all the spider webs on the front door and all around the outside of the house. I took pictures in disbelief (and my heart sank) as I walked up to the home. And yes, a few spiders were found on the inside of the house. We found several dirty dishes upon arrival, and several places in the home that were not clean. There was a dirty rug in the bathroom on second floor. There were 2 coffee pots on the kitchen counter but only one worked. The top piece of the microwave kept popping off every time we opened it. There was a broken candlestick left behind when we arrived and pieces of someone’s broken sunglasses were found in view under the table. The grass needed cutting too! I was so very disappointed in the upkeep of the home. It could and should be so much better than it was.

Our home get away from home!
We stayed at this property back on March 2020 when pandemic started. Loved it and stayed for 7 weeks. Had to go back home for work. Now we are back and it feels like home. Plenty of rooms for the whole family. 3 levels of fun and coziness. They built a new beach area which it was amazing. Swimming or canoe distance for the best fun spot at the lake. Volleyball net and tables on the lake to have fun. Already making plans for our next stating there.

Great relaxing pl e
Overall we had a great stay and get away. I saw some complaints about the amount of well water and running out and such but had none of those issues. Only issue we had was on the second day the master toilets tank got jammed and flooded the bathroom. We cleaned it all up because we didn’t hear back from the property manager until the next day. Outside of that issue we had a great stay

Lovely setting, needs some TLC
We truly enjoyed our stay, but let me warn you.. there are a lot of steps! The entire exterior needed a complete power washing and there was trash in the yard. The boat dock area and beach was a huge hit for the kids. Great fishing and hang out areas on the property. Also, we were not told that the water was limited in use due to the type of well and septic... so be prepared to not use ample water. The owners could do small touches that make a big difference for the guests.. new pots and pans would be great as well as a refresh in the basement (broken foosball and old rug). Outdoors could use a complete power wash and cleaning on outdoor furniture. Overall.. we had fun because we were in good company.

Easter trip
This house was in a beautiful, safe neighborhood. Centrally located on lake Anna. The house had more than enough space for our group. The grounds were still in " winter" mode. outside needed some cleanup and certainly some pressure washing of the house. The cleaning company did a fantastic job in the house getting it ready for our stay. The dock / boat house was awesome. Lake was cold to swim but perfect for fishing. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a perfect spot on Lake Anna.

In general, my family loved this house. Location was great for us and it had the rooms we needed. A few things that would benefit from being addressed somehow though.
1) The water situation needs some help. It seems weird that a house that can hold that many people has a cap on the amount of water both incoming outgoing. While we didn't have much of an impact other than lower water pressure a few times, it was a topic of frequent discussion.
2) The bedroom on the 2nd floor with no bathroom access. The weird nook in the corner could have been used as at least a half bath. A bedroom with a king but no bathroom on the same floor is bizarre.
3) General maintenance seems to be getting overlooked. The two things that come to mind are the dishwasher "falls out" of the counter if you open it and pull out a partially loaded bottom drawer and there were some boards on the dock that were loose and had fallen into the water.
Bonuses :
We greatly appreciated the kayaks. We brought 4 of our own but having a few spares enabled more of the family to go out at the same time.
Being able to leave the kids in the basement helped our sanity a lot.
Dog friendly meant that we had family members who could attend that would have otherwise stayed home to care for their dogs.

Overall, the accommodations suited our needs well. However the home was not maintained as well as we would have hoped and it wasn't as clean as we would have hoped - particularly considering the COVID-19 pandemic

Short stay on Lake Anna
In mid October, we stayed 3 nights at South Carolina by Lake Anna. The property was way too large for the 4 of us, but would have struggled with anything more than 6 (table not big enough, limited water from well, dishwasher not working, Direct TV only, limited WiFi). We reported all the maintenance issues during our stay. Most of the issues could be easily resolved with cash and a few hours of effort.
The house is in a beautiful location and was just what we needed to unwind. Tap
Room by Lake Anna was great for food and beer, even out of season. Lovely boat house to sit in for morning coffee.

Lakehouse
Our family enjoyed the stay at this residence but the beds in most rooms were very soft so we all ended sleeping on the floor. One of the room had bed bugs. Other than that, we all enjoyed most of our time on the boathouse.

Not worth the price
This house has not been cared for in a long time. There are many things that can be overlooked but the lack of cleanliness and maintenance made it less of a vacation. The two good things were the grill and boat dock.

Great family house
We really enjoyed at family weekend at Lake Anna! The house is an awesome size for a group, fantastic large yard and boat house. We enjoyed s'mores every night by the camp fire. There are four kayaks (but only three paddles) so the kids loved using three of them.
Only negatives were one of the king mattresses so incredibly soft and needs replacing, and the grass was way too tall when we arrived. After several attempts to get ahold of the property manager, it was cut about 24 hours after we arrived and we were happily able to use the large yard.

Had a great time
Lovely property we were in town with a group of families for a funeral and the house provided the perfect soft landing for our family. We used the kayaks as it was a mild winter day. We loved the comfortable living spaces and would highly recommend the home to others. Would love to visit again in Summer!

Beautiful home.
We really enjoyed our stay at Sweet Carolina. The house was perfect for large group and was well furnished. The house and location were beautiful and the boathouse was awesome. Overall the house was great but we have a few minor complaints. The rug in the living room was dirty and torn in several places, so much so that one of us tripped over the tear, would recommend replacing it. Several of the remotes were missing and many didn’t have batteries. We would like to recommend one upgrade. One of the bedrooms on the second floor has no bathroom access. Guests staying in that room have to either go upstairs to use powder room or go into another guest’s bedroom to shower. Very inconvenient during the night. Would suggest adding jack and Jill access to bedroom/bathroom next store or converting large laundry room into hall bath. This change would make the house perfect. We would definitely rent again.
