Images don't represent the actual property and are from a trip years ago to another camping site. The actual property for rent is a camper in the side-yard of a home that is also being used for boat storage and place to put a toolshed. There were 3 trailers in the yard with various boats on them off a little to the side when you make it past the gate that are partially obscuring the camper and deck. The boats had covers that had either rotted out with holes and standing water in them or the covers have just slipped off over time making them great mosquito nesting grounds. There was a glass table top laying upside down on top of another table holding water, as well. All the water puddles had staining showing that this was a recurring feature of this property. My family and I were completely assaulted by mosquitos to the point of near insanity. The entire property needs to undergo an immediate mosquito abatement program before anyone steps foot inside the property again. No amount of bug spray or citronella candles will help with clouds of mosquitos flying around. Literal clouds of the insidious blood suckers. Don't stay here until they have been dealt with and know that it isn't the same as the pictures would have you believe. Requesting an immediate refund because we did not stay at this property due to conditions outside of our control.

Description of this place is VERY misleading. First a Bad musty odor hit you in the face, dirty sheets, unclean interior and unkept yard. The owner arrived and we were going to just leave yet he allowed us to stay in the house which was somewhat better. Those bed sheets also had not been washed in who knows how long. Plus the beds horribly uncomfortable mattresses and dirty, with cobwebs around the window ac unit. Ben was pleasant to speak with but his standards on cleanliness were severly below par. Worse place we rented on Verbo by far after 10+ rentals. Ben the owner should be ashamed of this property.

Tawakoni is a beautiful place to stay. This place was billed to have it all. We we were under the impression right up until the day of checking that this place had exclusive water access. Which it does…for an extra $50. And you have to get the key from a private individual (not the owner) which makes getting the key a but of a hassle. Maybe a misunderstanding on our part but we really thought we would have access to the lake. The first issue we had was the call we received from the owner on the day of checking stating that the refrigerator was broken but there would be a cooler with ice available…okay so not ideal but a minor inconvenience for a weekend getaway. We could deal with that. Why we could not deal with were the mosquitoes! Now you might be thinking hold up the mosquitoes are not in the owners control. And you would be correct except this place has grass that had not been mowed since Memorial Day, next to a lake, in July. You could not sit outside and enjoy the fire you could easily get to the water and with it being the Fourth of July weekend you would think you could set off fireworks but this place is in a neighborhood with dense tree cover. Just not the best Rental we have ever stayed in. We felt like the description was misleading.

We communicated several times before the stay and the owner was responsive. It was determined that his camper was in the shop and could have a potential to not be ready. One thing that he mentioned was that he would put up a nice tent for us to sleep in. We were not impressed and when we reached out to VRBO about this it was not aligned with their policies. It took several attempts to get the reservation cancelled and refunded. We didnt even get a chance to stay in his camper since it was not available on time. Hope someone else will have better luck than us. Make sure to ask for updated pictures. FYI, the address you get after you reserve is for someone's backyard instead of the camp site that you will actually be camping at which is at the campground in the state park. Additional info not published unless you ask: the costs for kayak, swim tubes, bikes and boat (lifevests provided) Bikes are good for Jr. high to adults, $35 A day. Fishing poles $20 a day Beach tubes $25 a day. Kayaks: single/$50 a day Double $120 a day.
