Our host Marilin was fantastic. Her hosting and cooking were amazing. We liked the fact that there was no wi-fi and limited power (just during dinner).
We should have brought a car, as main walking trails (we like to hike) were quite far away. Maybe there are other hiking trails in the area. We also would have liked to find out a bit more about the design and operation of the coffee farm and its permaculture principles.

If you are in Boquete, go there. Eco Horqueta is a very nice small farm which is owned by three ladies. They do everything to make you feel comfortable. They also produce very good organic coffee and other fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately when we visited Eco Horqueta Lorraine and Maria Jesus weren’t there, but Marylin did everything she could to give us everything we needed and to make us feel truly at home - and she did very well. She even cooked delicious local meals for us in the evening. We also did the coffee experience (which we highly recommend) and Marylin took a lot of time for us. She also picked us up in the town and dropped us again after our stay. Bonus: There are three super cute dogs (and a couple of cats)
One thing, which you should keep in mind, but which was positive for us: The location is very remote and there’s only electricity in the evening.

Nice view of the mountain. Comfortable bed. Helpful owner.
Very, very, expensive for poor facilities.
Shower broken, only intermittent hot water. We knew in advance about lack of wi-fi and electricity in the cabin....but we were not expecting the cabin to have all the electric wiring in place.... sockets, light-switches, even light-bulbs. So what happened? Is the electric broken too, or just turned off?
It was so dark in the bathroom, even during the day, that I could never shave!
A lot of dog mess and chicken poo in the outdoor areas.
In the end this place is OK, but the price is three times what we paid elsewhere in Panama for better rooms.

Marilin as a host was very very welcoming and made our stay at Eco Horqueta unforgetable. The traditional Panamian food that she prepared for us tasted incredible. We absolutely recommend the coffee tour on her plantation.

This place is very special. We really enjoyed its remote location and very peaceful surroundings. Lots of hiking options too. 10-15 minutes to beautiful Boquete with many restaurants and shops. The owners are extremely helpful and we felt like visiting our family. I never tried before the corn dish which I’ve got for the breakfast! And our talks were priceless, thank you many times!!! We hope to come back again!

Staff, hummingbirds, atmosphere, coffee, conversations, view.
The narrow, curvy road, not for flatlanders.

We loved Eco Horqueta! It's a beautiful location with amazing views and they have chickens and dogs! Be sure to ask about harvesting your own coffee, and do opt for the Panamanian breakfast in the morning - it's delicious!
Nothing, we loved our stay!

The people, food, views, remoteness - it's a perfect place to disconnect from your daily stresses and reconnect with nature. Breakfast (optional extra $7) was delicious and the coffee experience (optional extra $35) was tasty and enlightening. My friend and I had such a wonderful time together there and very much suggest everything Marilin and Maria Jesus have to offer!
