Beautiful, quaint country house with some original pieces in it ( cast iron stove/oven, for one). If you're looking for modern, it ain't that. Rooms are fairly small, which adds to the charm . Very quiet area with cows as neighbors. Great location between Cliffs of Moher and Dingle and Ring of Kerry. Convenience store/gas station just a few miles away
Just the type of experience we were looking for, and to top it off, we arrived to tea and coffee service with scones laid out for us. House is gorgeous and we were so warmly welcomed.

My wife and I had the pleasure of introducing Ireland to her parents by staying at Theresa's beautiful home. There were fresh baked scones, butter, jam and milk on arrival which was very welcoming. It was spotlessly clean and fully equipped for a fabulous stay. I would highly reccomend a visit! Thank younTheresa, we hope to come again soon!

This was just what we wanted and needed. Quiet and just a perfect place to relax and enjoy!

We had a great stay at Sporting Lodge. Theresa and Kevin are great hosts, maintaining great communication and making us feel very welcome indeed. The property is very spacious and well equipped. It's in a quiet, rural location within very easy reach of lots of wonderful places to visit. We had trips to Counties Cork, Clare and Kerry as well as Dublin. And County Limerick itself has beautiful countryside and welcoming people. We really did feel very at home. We thought that Sporting Lodge was very good value and would recommend it without hesitation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sporting Lodge! The hosts met us with keys, a tour, and homemade scones! It was perfect for our family of 6 to have a home base while exploring southwest Ireland for a few days.

My family just enjoyed a lovely 2 week-long stay at Theresa and Kevin’s property - my only complaint about the experience is that it came to an end! The home is situated in peaceful country surrounds, perfect for anyone looking to enjoy some quiet, quality time away with family. The location is a great jumping off point and within reasonable driving distance of many of the West Coast “must-see sights.” (Car is a must!) The property is beautifully maintained and the hosts could not be more helpful or gracious. Theresa would respond without fail to any questions or concerns during the full length of our stay. Beds and linens were comfortable and cozy which was a treat after long days spent adventuring. Clean and spacious home with fenced in garden checks all the boxes for a lovely family holiday. If you are considering spending yours here, do not hesitate to book! Very much hoping to return ourselves in the future!

This house was the perfect choice for our group of five. We loved the convenience of having two and half bathrooms and a clothes washer and dryer. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets and farm surroundings.
The owner had baked fresh scones and left milk in the fridge for our arrival. She also responded to a few questions we had promptly throughout our stay.

Great cottage and location for our family stay in Co Limerick. Quiet, cozy, and comfortable, and the welcome tea and scones were a lovely treat! Thanks for welcoming us, we enjoyed our stay!

This lodge was located in a peaceful great location to access many different sites. We visited Killarney, The Ring of Kerry, Adare, Bunratty, and Knockpatrick Gardens (these are really close and private gardens so call before you go). Our hosts were so welcoming and even gave us a bottle of wine for our anniversary. Communication was excellent and we were able to easily find the property using google maps.

Perfect in every way. If you’re debating where to stay, this is the place. Wonderful house and we were traveling with two teenagers and a nine year old. They loved it as did my wife and I. Owners were great people!! Place was spotless and the town of Adare was a short drive away and a wonderful small town w great restaurants and delightful pubs. Can’t wait to go back!

This farm home is a gem! The rural location was perfect for us. We made day trips and went back home for peace and quiet. Theresa was very prompt in getting back to us...especially on the day we locked the house key inside! Very clean and it has everything you need for a short or long stay. There is a great restaurant within a couple miles. We would definitely stay here again!

We (family of five) were welcomed with freshly baked scones and cared for whenever we needed advice. Our boys fell in love with the cattle nearby and the house and surroundings were just charming -We'd love to come again !

Beautiful, comfortable house close to everything but quiet & relaxing. Myself, my husband, our 2 children boy 13 & girl 9, my dad & our 1&1/2yr old pup had an absolute brilliant time. Felt so safe & had everything we needed, very central for things to do, all within 40 mins /1hr drive. Then a lovely lady in the next house down May has a donkey who loves being petted. May is a lovely lady who took my daughter to pet Bess the donkey, she loved it. Absolutely beautiful, friendly people all around Shannagolden.
Would definitely recommend this house we will definitely be back.

Great family holiday
A lovely, quiet and comfortable house for a family holiday. Everything we needed was there ….even delicious home-made brown bread on arrival. The location was a convenient base for daytrips to Co Clare and North Kerry. For eating out, the local pub served great food too. All in all a great few days - thanks so much !!!

Rustig gelegen ruime vakantiewoning
Orgineel huis op een ruim perceel, schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien. Ligt vrij en rustig maar je kan in een half uurtje naar het dorp wandelen daar een kleine supermarkt en leuke pub.

Groot landhuis in rustige omgeving

Ireland countryside
A very quiet pastoral setting. House has a lot of rustic charm. An easy drive to get groceries and visit the local restaurant. Overall, very pleased.

We started our stay with tea and fresh scones courtesy of our hosts, who are fine examples of Ireland's famous hospitality.. The house is situated along a country lane, but we were able to drive to both Galway and Cork for daytrips. Mind the roundabouts, though. Nice local pubs and restaurants. The house was clean and comfortable. Limerick is relatively close by, and itself could take up a lot of your stay. We would love to return.

We had a wonderful stay! Theresa and Kevin are amazing. Very hospitable and helpful. We look forward to visiting again.

Perfect family spot in the Irish countryside!
With two city kids, 5 & 7, this was the perfect place to get away from the bustle and soak in the Irish countryside. Theresa and Kevin were so welcoming and accommodating - thanks for the homemade muffins and Irish Coffees! And John and May at the neighboring farm could not have been sweeter, introducing our girls to Bess, the donkey.
The accommodations are spacious and full of charm, and having two bathrooms (with two showers) definitely helped us get out on the road early to see the sights.
We loved the location, because it’s truly in the country, but still a very convenient base camp to see all the great spots in the West and the south. Don’t expect the typical touristy leprechauns, shamrocks, and tourist-crammed pubs here. This is the real countryside with all it’s lovely, friendly locals, twisting narrow lanes, and emerald-green, patchwork hills.
We hope to return someday!

Ruhig und geräumig
Etwas abgelegen, dadurch aber besonders ruhig und erholsam. Sehr nette Vermieter, leckere Scones zur Begrüßung.

Lovely country home
This home is well maintained and offers very comfortable accommodations. Wood floors, antique furniture and lots of character to this house. Truly tranquil if you want to experience the Irish countryside or getaway from the city for a few days. You'll need a car as most of the villages are a distance from each other and the house. Some interesting ruins in Askeaton, and a pub in Glin that served great soup.
It is 30-35 minutes from Limerick and Bunratty Castle (the castle is well worth the visit), and 20-25 minutes to Adare. Adare is a tiny village so it will not take much time to walk about but has excellent pubs and restaurants, so also worth the visit.
Theresa kindly waited for us after we got somewhat lost on the Wild Atlantic Way - now that's an interesting ride! Highly recommend driving some of it, but we were unprepared for the narrowness of the roads and two-way traffic! Communicating with Theresa was easy and she was helpful about orienting us to the house. Have to give a shout-out to the local gas station employees who went out of their way to help us locate the house when we got lost. The Stand, the local pub/restaurant is a 5 minute drive from the house.and serves good food. Very pretty area!

Great stay
Had a really good time and the house suited us really well. Lovely scones available to welcome us and the owners are lovely friendly people. Great place to base yourself to journey around the bottom of Ireland. Car is very necessary.

Everything was perfect.
Theresa was so responsive to every question. The house was exactly what we needed to see true Irish countryside and we were happy to not be stuck in Dublin. Shanagolden is beautiful.

Clean, comfortable, well equipped, well decorated house, all the essentials for variable weather
The friendly owner met us at the local pub "The Old Stand" and took us to the house. House tricky to find if your just using a tourist map. We stayed 3 days in the area and visited the Foynes Flying Boat Museum. Museum explains a little known part of Irish Aviation history, it is well presented, plan for 2 hours with kids + shop for the "Irish Coffee". Comfortable house with all wooden floors. We used the fireplace for a cosy evening in out of the rain. Plenty of room for 6 persons or for a family with 4 kids. Quiet getaway, surrounded by nice trees with a view over the West Limerick hills. Well situated for days trips around Limerick county, West Clare and North Kerry (Tralee/Dingle).

The Most Perfect Irish Getaway Vacation Spot Ever!
Thank you Kevin and Theresa for adding to our Irish vacation! Your home was the perfect spot to start each day's adventure from and return home to, to unwind each evening. We so appreciated the information you shared on our arrival about local attractions and the available maps and brochures you had in the home for our use. This home was super easy to find, even though we have never been to Ireland before and we found it a great place to explore so many wonderful sights from; such as the Cliffs of Moher, to drive the Ring of Kerry and explore the Blarney Castle, Bunratty Castle, the Flight Museum in Foynes, Adair Village and local shops and woolen Mills. We also found the Village of Shannagolden to be lovely and enjoyed meals at the local pub and had wonderful massages there during our stay.
We so appreciated the helpful introduction to your home, how to use the appliances and showers, as well as what we might find interesting in the area. You were gracious as hosts and the homemade scones and jam were much appreciated!
Your home was so comfortable. The beds were excellent and everything was so clean we never felt uncomfortable or as if we needed to wash the plates before using them! The space in the home was also perfect for four adults traveling together to relax on our own or come together for a few card games in the evenings.
For any traveler thinking of booking this home, don't hesitate. It is as lovely as you are imagining. Waking up with the cows outside and the gorgeous Irish countryside at the window was the best part of each day.
We so appreciated you taking time on our last evening to come and visit with us and share in our Irish experience. We loved hearing about your family and how Ireland is different in some ways from our home and yet so similar in others. You are very gracious hosts and absolutely added to our vacation.
We thank you and wish for only the very best tenants to continue to grace your lovely home.
Best,
David and Chelle Mitchell
