About this farm stay rental
If you are seeking a tranquil, relaxing space in a rural setting but close to conveniences this is the farm for you. If you are planning to site-see, historic sites, plan to make a day of visiting local vineyards, enjoying Lake Anna, are fox hunting with local clubs or horse showing nearby... this is the perfect place.
Rocky Run Farm is close to historic Montpelier, Lake Anna, Woodberry Forest School, five separate hunt territories, the HITS Culpeper show grounds, and many many civil war venues in Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg, Virginia. The farm is stones-throw away from Lake Anna State Park, less than an hour from Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and at least 30 Virginia vineyard/wineries as well as the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
While we make the entire cabin available to our guests, there is a basement apt with it's own entrance located on the opposite side of the cabin from our guests porch entrance. The basement apt is occupied by our father who is a retired Marine Corps intelligence officer. He is very quiet and will not disturb your stay or encroach on your space whatsoever.

We like to stay in quiet, non touristy places that allow us to enjoy the crowded places and decompress at night. This house is only about 15 min from lake Anna state park. We also day tripped to quantico, natural bridge state park, Fredericksburg and Luray Caverns. Kitchen has everything for making your own meals, especially good for those of us with food allergies. The barn cat tried to come home with us, but we were sure to leave him there despite him jumping in our van.

This was a mid point stop on our two week journey! The down time and country scene was just what we needed. We took Mom into Fredricksburg to visit her son. The rest of us went to DC for the day. We definitely appreciated the use of the laundry facilities as well.

I had 3 friends come in from different states and we had a blast! The cabin was absolutely beautiful and the property was amazing. We loved the horses they were so sweet and friendly we were able to pet the horses and have some horse therapy! We were able to take walks, my one friend was disappointed she didn’t get to see the pigs lol. The kitties and dogs were also very friendly. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

We loved this area! The house gave us a perfect “home base” for various day-trips. We went to Arlington/Washington DC, Skyline Drive/Shenandoah National Park, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and various battlefields. My kids loved seeing the horses on the farm, and the property and immediate location was so pretty! The house had everything we needed and the kids loved the foosball table. Jennifer got right back with me when I reached out. We would definitely stay again!

I really didn’t know what to expect, but we were absolutely blown away by the beauty of this house and property. It was magical to wake up and watch horses graze, and the hand built home was simply beautiful. We had a wonderful night and hope to be back!

but could have been better. My girlfriends and I stayed here last weekend to be close to Lake Anna. The house itself was decent, although the outlets in the lower bathroom did not work so it made getting ready in the morning difficult for the 6 of us. There was also an alarm from the basement that went off at 7AM and didn't stop for about 30 minutes, so we were unable to sleep in.

The property was all we had hoped for and more. A lovely secluded country farm house on a discreetly working farm in breathtaking countryside. Friendly welcoming people and great hospitality wherever we went plus all the civil war era history within a few miles beautifully ( and freely ) presented by the national parks authority.

Perfect set up! Cabin is in the middle of no where so you can get away from your everyday life. The property is absolutely stunning. From the log cabin to the view to the horses. It is heaven on Earth!! Definetly recommend!!

Quiet and relaxing, this property is in a great area for exploring various historical sites.

The location couldn't be better for exploring - we visited Monticelllo, wineries, Fredericksburg. More than enough room for our family of 4 and the home is in a beautiful rural location.

We had a great stay in this beautiful log cabin. The house was clean and well stocked with anything you might need including toiletries, linens, and towels. They have foosball and many fun games for children of all ages. The decor and pictures are very nice. They have a front and back porch with plenty of seating a great views. My kids (ages 4 and 6) loved playing with the cats and feeding the pigs. We did a hike on the property, which was fun. Owners were easy to get in touch with and very accommodating. I definitely recommend this place!

We had a wonderful time. Love being able to relax and watch the horses from the porch. They had everything we needed and more. Great experience!

Perfect for our family get-together. The cabin is in a working farm. The wandering pot bellied pigs were fun to spot. The friendly cat that watched us through the front porch window charmed our grandson. Beds were great. Kitchen had everything we needed.

This was such a lovely place to bring our family. The number of beds was the most important thing when initially choosing this home but so many more things made it even better! Large tub to soak in each evening, 2 full bathrooms (one for the parents, one for the teenagers) a friendly sweet barn cat on the porch, fire pit so kindly started by Dan our first evening, open kitchen allowed for meal prep without missing out on family time. The beds were a bit high with added mattress pads but I’m short. ;-) It just felt like home! We would love to come back. So much to see in the area! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

This property was just what we were looking for when we sought out a location for relaxation and decompression from daily stress. Picture yourself sitting in a chair on the large balcony looking out to the pastures having a morning cup of coffee. If you're a bird-nerd, you're in for a real treat. Woodpeckers, hawks, nuthatches, chickadees, blue birds, blue jays, and more were there for the enjoyment! The beds were incredibly comfortable. The kitchen provided all of the little extras that you might need for your stay, coffee filters, spices, plastic wrap. We are so grateful for our peaceful time there and would definitely recommend to couples, families, or friend groups for a great get-away.

It was a pleasure to stay at this cabin in the woods with two graceful horses and a persistent pig as neighbors. We sat on the back deck nearly every night until the sun went down and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the farm when we woke up each morning. The location was good for us as we wanted to go to Charlottesville and Fredericksburg, but we also enjoyed riding around "leaf peeping" and finding small towns we had not been to before. We had lunch at Michie Tavern which is a must if you like fried chicken and lunch at the La Petite Auberge in Fredericksburg where we enjoyed excellent food and service. Jennifer and Jamey were so kind to come over after I am sure a long day at work and retrieve a pendant that had fallen into the bathroom sink drain. It had sentimental value to my friend and she was very upset to have lost it, but so relieved when Jamey returned it to her. Thanks for a lovely stay. LeAlyce Garret and Nina Rothwell

If you're looking for a beautiful, peaceful stay with some animals to visit while you stay, this place has it all! The cabin is absolutely beautiful with everything you might need. You can stroll out to see the horses, pigs and cattle whenever you want, or sit back and chill on one of the 2 covered porches. 4 of us love to fish, and there is a pond on the property they allowed them to throw their rods in. Caught one in literally 5 mins ❤️ We headed over to Lake Anna State Park the next day which is awesome as well. The owners Jamie and Jennifer who also live on the beautiful 200 acre property, are awesome and respond very quickly if need be. Our group of 8 only stopped for the night on our trip back to Jersey from Myrtle Beach, but we definitely plan to come back in the fall for a long weekend!

A huge thank you to the host for sharing this beautiful property with us. The accommodations were comfortable and well stocked. The property was a slice of heaven from either of the two porches. The kids loved being able to roam and visit with the animals and were able to assist in the evening chores each night. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again in the future. Please update the listing to reflect the bunk beds are no longer in the third bedroom. Thanks again for everything.

Love it!
Exactly as described. My two young boys loved the animals and the few people that we did see were very nice. I would go back for sure. Thanks Jamey!!

Pleasant quiet farmhouse
The farmhouse was perfect for our group. It had all of the amenities you could want, including strong wifi and great AC. The farm grounds were a cool feature, and we loved chatting with the horses and the pigs.

Our visit was wonderful from start to finish. The house is lovely in a lovely setting. The owners gave us good information prior to our visit so we were prepared and knew what to expect. The home is clean, neat and well maintained. Only complaint, not in the owner's control, is the additional costs that were added after the initial pricing. These were significant. Our experience was outstanding!
