About this farm stay rental
Large nineteenth century farmhouse, renovated in the Provencal style, with simplicity and taste. A lovely poetic environment enabling long walks in the low dry woods just behind and above the house. The property is in three adjoining parts: main house, studio (very large bedroom and bathroom) and small bedroom (always rented to a single party) - detailed description below.
The village of Saint Pantaléon is close to many tourist spots - Isle sur la Sorgue (famous for antique shops and restaurants) Apt, Carpentras, Bonnieux, Menerbes, Gordes - and agricultural markets with fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, wines and cheeses from nearby farms and vineyards at very reasonable prices. The property is Ideal for one or two couples or families. Artists and writers will profit from the colors, the quiet, the space. Located in the heart of beautiful Provence, the house dates from the mid 19th century and the building is typical of old farms in the region. Thanks to the fact that the property is in three parts, it can house between 8-10 people. The location is very private, at the crossroads of two rarely traveled narrow country roads, 50-100 yards from the road and hidden behind cypress trees. With its thick walls, the house is cool in summer and well heated in winter.
The main house is spacious and simply furnished. On the ground floor, a modern kitchen and table for 8 to 10 people, a cozy living room with sofa bed for two, and a piano for musical evenings. On the top floor are two bedrooms: one large, light and carpeted with a double bed, a single bed-couch and work table, the second, smaller bedroom, also with a double bed, contains a large wardrobe and and desk. The spacious bathroom is on the landing with bath, shower, toilet, washing machine and dryer. In summer, wash is hung outdoors in a special place, where it dries in the sun a matter of minutes. Behind the house is the terrace, with a stone barbecue and outdoor tables.
The 'studio', ideal for painters and writers, consists of a large room and bathroom (shower & toilet) and is just opposite the main house, on the other side of the courtyard and facing South. It is light, spacious and pleasant to live in, with a double bed, a single bed, a desk, a shower and toilet. The studio has a beautiful warm light and an atmosphere of rest. Another room with a single bed, a wardrobe and table, is just outside the studio in the central part of the property. The entire property (main house + 'studio') is rented to one person (or family) at a time. It is rented by the week or a minimum of five days.
The courtyard is pebbled, and there are also plenty of grassy areas for children.
In summer, and often until November and December, you can have your meals meal outside on the terrace at the back of the house, or in the courtyard, following the itinerary of the sun. Tables, chairs and chaise-longues can be moved around to suit your inspiration. Just make yourselves at home.

Located on a tiny backroad, this roomy stone house is quiet and comfortable -- just right for settling back and having a romantic time of it or for a roomy family get-away. The stone walls will keep the house cool in summer, and the courtyard is beguiling. Within easy walking distance of the tiny town of St. Pantaloon or an enjoyable (3-mile) walk to the wonderful small town of Goult. The town of Lumières is also wonderful. Heartily recommended!

We spent a perfect September week in this authentic and charming Saint Pantaleon stone farmhouse. Large, comfortable, quiet, and equipped with a well-appointed kitchen--we prepared our own breakfasts and most nights, our dinners--the farmhouse is surrounded by vineyards and at a slightly greater distance, the Luberon towns and villages that make this part of Provence such a wonderful place to visit. I'm a writer and I wrote most mornings in the separate studio over the arch. Then my wife and I would drive ten, fifteen or at most twenty lovely minutes through the hills to indulge in one of the remarkable two hour lunches available in Goult, Gordes, Rousillion, or Bonnieux, to name just some of the nearby villages. The light. The hills. The perfect weather--high 70's, low 80's and no humidity--all of it a perfect backdrop to a Provencal getaway. On our first Saturday we shopped at the wonderful market day in Apt and returned to our Saint Pantaleon farmhouse with the bounty of the season and the region: fresh figs, Cavaillon melons, chantarelles, fresh and aged chevres.
This was an exceptionally peaceful, fulfilling and happy time for us, and I can't but think that part of the enabling magic was supplied by this old stone farmhouse. With any luck, we'll be back.

Just returned from one week - our second in Provence and our most extensive in terms of area covered. It was a magical experience and the farmhouse made it special in so many ways. Since I do not know Provence well - I had no way of knowing where would make an ideal place to rent. This was PERFECT in so many ways. The house itself is lovely and cozy yet so simple and informal that guests just feel so at home. It is situated in a quiet setting overlooking the grand valley with vistas that are breathtaking. It is very old (a stone is carved 1848) and almost untouched by time. It is a 3 sided compound entered by an arched carriage way. The studio forms one end of the U, the small guest house a second, and the main house - the third arm. It could not be more private. Multi level terraces and walls give an enclosed area. The rooms are large and so cozy. Yet every modern amenity I could ask for is right there and easy to use. THe photos on the website do not do justice to the special character of the farmhouse. There is nothing like an authentic experience. We were a party of 4 - one couple and two singles but can imagine a larger extended family being most at home here due to all of the various spaces. The kitchen and the attached dining room with farm table became our base and we started all days with breakfast and our planning there. We would tour during the day always going to a local outdoor market for provisions, have a great midday lunch at a local restaurant, come home, relax in the courtyard and have a late dinner at home. We are foodies and liked having a great kitchen and everything we needed to experience the cuisine of Provence. Many nights were dinner outdoors in the courtyard - with our market goods grilled in the firepit. It was incredible watching the sunset and the moon rise. Everything was so close as to make our daytime expeditions fun and easy - Gordes, Menerbes, Rousillon, Bonnieux, Fountain de Vacluse, BUT THE REAL WINNER WERE THE LOVELY SPOTS MINUTES AWAY. The walkway from the farm to St Pantaleon is a winner - walled on both sides - with incredible old house built into the cliffs for us to explore. Two nights dining out - one in St Pantaleon and another at Aux Fines Herbes in Goult were incredible. We got to know the chefs and some of the local. It happened to be the yearly festival in Goult our first Saturday night there - and the fireworks were charming. I would recommend this farm as the REAL THING.

We've stayed twice at this wonderful farmhouse -- once for four weeks, once for three -- and found it to be a perfect getaway from our busy lives. (I'm a writer, my wife is in marketing). The house is comfortable, simple, beautifully situated and very romantic -- like stepping back into a time when Provence wasn't all about tourists. Surrounded on one side by lovely woods, on another by vineyard, it features a magnificent separate studio above the arched entrance (which i used for writing but is a perfect and very large bedroom and sitting room with its own bath) and a two bedroom main house with a large, comfy living room and delightful kitchen that opens onto the courtyard. (The master bedroom is huge, too). Cherries in season in the yard, figs down the road. We love the town of Gault, a less than ten minute drive -- small enough to get to know the people, but with several amazing restaurants and excellent bakery, butchers, grocers etc. Also Coustellet, a much larger town, but wonderful, and ten minutes in another direction -our favorite farmer's markets is held there. The fortress town of Gordes is also very close --great restaurants and shops there too. Actually you're close to everything -- and yet so very far away. And the owner's Judith in Paris and Michael in New York are lovely, generous and responsive. This is an old-world house with modern comforts -- not a McMansion-- and just thinking about our time there makes me yearn to go back.

Highly recommend. We wanted a getaway that was 100% Provence and we found it at this farmhouse in St. Pantaleon. Long afternoons reading and enjoying the views of the village and the valley were as relaxing as we could hope, broken up by trips to the local markets, spectacular wineries and restaurants. This was a great launching pad to explore everything that Provence has to offer. The stone farmhouse is spacious with lots of rooms and terraces for relaxing and enjoyment. This is a place to get away from it all. Would recommend without hesitation. Can't wait to go back.
