About this house rental
This Property Currently has a 30 Night Minimum (no exceptions)
Taos, NM - former gallery & home of R. C. Gorman, renowned Taos artist. Walk to Plaza 1/2 block and restaurants, shops, entertainment, easy open road 18 miles to Taos Ski Valley
Historic Ledoux Street is considered the 'dream location' for living and vacation lodging in Taos, NM. Artist Retreat which was once owned by the late world renowned artist / painter R.C. Gorman, makes lodging there ever more special. This popular sought after 'strolling street' is surrounded by artist's homes, studios / galleries and is an easy walk, from start to finish, being only one block long.
The fully enclosed front yard is lovely for Al Fresca dining, lounging, outdoor summer living and year round hot tub relaxing. Buffered by tall coyote fencing (traditional Santa Fe / Taos style Aspen limb fencing) this lodging treasure assures guests privacy from slow moving cars on the popular one way, one lane Ledoux Street.
Furnished with upscale bedding, mattresses and furnishings, guests enjoy an interesting blend of traditional southwest and contemporary décor.
With a 2 minute walk, guests will find themselves on the Taos Village Plaza and famous Bent Street, both with shops and eateries. Right around the corner, hardly leaving Ledoux Street, are two very popular restaurants with locals and returning guests: The Byzantium and Stella's Italian Restaurant.
The famous Harwood Museum is an easy stroll to the west end of Ledoux street. In addition to housing a major collection of original art from the 7 founding members of the Taos Art Colony back in the 20's, the Harwood also offers classes, lectures and musical presentations of all varieties.
The remaining portion of Gorman's retreat remains a gallery featuring his work A kissing cousin, Inger Jirby Gallery, is directly across the narrow 1 lane, 1 way street. An authentic restored historic adobe, Artist's Retreat offers peaceful quiet Taos lodging within minutes of walking to the Taos plaza, the picturesque John Dunn Plaza shops and famous Bent Street with shops and eateries leading to the famous Taos Inn and Doc Martin's for evening entertainment or daytime front patio social gathering (a local's favorite).
The lovely enclosed courtyard, laced with jumbo pots of flowers, is a true summer time treat and the newly installed enclosed private Hot Tub is available for year round pleasure.
Guests choosing to lodge at Artist's Retreat enjoy the full fledged "Old Taos" living experience, incomparable to any other, but with modern day upgraded facilities on the most sought after street in village of Taos, New Mexico.

Stayed 6/15-7/14.Location was excellent, 2 minute walk to the plaza, and could not have been more convenient.Cute little adobe house, very well stocked w all essentials...linens, towels, kitchenware, etc.Cherry Montano, our liaison was very helpful, when it came w any issues. Two issues, one minor, one major that we felt might/ could/should be addressed....The iinside is very dark, lighting wise, and many of the bulbs were of such low wattage, that even when turned on, and w shades open, home was still not bright.Might want to consider addressing that.On arrival, the house, it appeared had been cleaned, but only in the most superficial manner.Dust, dust balls, etc, pretty much under and around ‘everything’ in the house.Looked liked someone spent 10 minutes wiping down the tops whatever was most immediately visible, as opposed to an hour or two actually cleaning the house. To be clear, I’m not looking for white glove service.....just clean the **** place.

My housekeeper spent 18 hours deep cleaning the house. We both took pictures of the condition of the house.Only one bedroom meets the NM building code requirements. The other two rooms lack closets and one of them is a walk through to the third room. The furniture is in poor shape, one chair so wobbly we would not dare to use it. One of the armchairs has a hole on the seat that was hidden under a throw. The kitchen sink had a leak that must have been there for a while since there is water damage in the cabinet. BTW, that cabinet door does not close. The spray wand did not work. It took a week to get that taken care of.My advise to fellow travelers: do NOT rent this property.

We had a pleasant and invigorating stay. Property Managers Linda and Bill Knief made it even better. Being close to the Plaza meant we can just walk there without even getting in our car. This property has all the cooking items you will need to enjoy a nice meal staying "home".

We really enjoyed being right near the square in this cute adobe. The added historical interest of it being the former home of R.C. Gorman made it special. The rooms are a bit smaller than some homes ibut there are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms allowing for plenty of privacy.

This is a wonderful house, extremely clean and comfortable, beds and linens high quality and kitchen well-stocked. Solu, the caretaker is very welcoming and easy to reach. The location is perfect for walking to the square and for walking to restaurants as well. Our family loved staying here. My only suggestion is one more comfortable chair would be great for the living room and a tea kettle for the kitchen.

We spent Christmas 2014 at the RC Gorman House and had a great experience. Everything we needed to prepare Christmas dinner with the Smith's grocery just down the road. It was very clean and well maintained. The snow was shoveled for us (bonus for the youngest since we'd tagged him for the job) and everything was in good working order. In the heart of Taos and easy to get in and out. We actually backed the car in the drive as we found this was easier than backing out of the drive. You'll know what I mean when you see the house. Would definitely stay at this house again in the future.

This was our first getaway with the kids and grandkids and couldn't have had a better place to stay. The closeness to the Plaza and the size of the house was perfect! We had 5 adults and 3 kids and still had privacy. The patio area was good for the kids to play in as well as a quite retreat for me to read! We have always loved the places we've stayed with Premiere Properties, and this one did not disappoint either!

Thanks for a wonderful stay . I used to live on Ledoux St and love the location for getting around Taos on foot. My friend and I found the Artist retreat very thoughtfully equipped in both kitchen and bathrooms - I've owned a VRBO in the pt and really appreciate the extra touches. The person who cleans was very accommodating when one of the skylight shades fell ... Quick to remedy and pleasant to take to. We will return !!!

Being from Texas, I was looking forward to cooler weather and I got it. The house is so charming and fit my family and friends' needs to perfection. The house has everything you could ever need--especially the kitchen. The caretaker, Linda, was on top of things at all times. She was so nice to work with and was easy to get to.I would love to return during the winter and enjoy the snow in the mountains and ski.

It was terrific. Property was in great shape, kitchen, very useable and location is second to none. Only minor correction would be to make sure people know that there are two hollywood twin beds in one room and basically one bath for two bedrooms requires a family rather than three couples.

Well this place was just about perfect. We were two couples visiting Taos for a long weekend and we're so glad we found this house. It was bigger than we needed, but nice to have the extra room; very clean, including the hot tub; and the kitchen was well stocked with plates, glasses, cookware, etc. Plus, it was great to be just a short walk from the plaza. I would definitely stay here again if we return to Taos, and highly recommend it for small groups or families looking for a nice getaway location.

Walked to everything we wanted in Taos Proper. 4 guys on ski trip. You do have to walk through 1 bedroom to access 3rd bedroom. Great adorable small property for us. Tight parking. This management company and owner will access the property unannounced while you are away under the guise of "Oh... we had the wrong dates of your departure."

Great house, wonderful location
Great home, so close to the Plaza and World Cup coffee. Easy to walk to all shops, galleries and restaurants in the historic district of Taos. House was furnished in great Southwest style. Beds were comfortable. Only issue is that the bed rooms are very dark. the wall sconces emit very little light and bedside lamps are not very bright either. Also this house appears to be able to be split up into 3 different rental units, so there are extra doors in the hallways that kind of got in the way.

Our group of 4 had a lovely experience in this cozy (great electric fireplace) home on a quiet one-way street near the Taos Plaza (2 blocks away). We loved the focus on art in the house (if you like RC Gorman's art - apparently he lived in this house at some point), the beautiful kitchen, bedrooms, new bathrooms and garden/yard and hot tub. The housekeeper Linda was most helpful with advice on local restaurants and super responsive in our text communication. Highly recommend!

We rented the home, received information from the contact person, located the home, & moved in for the weekend without any issues. The home is in a great location, cozy, warm, clean, well furnished kitchen, private courtyard, outdoor seating, hot tub, & keyless entry. The home is on a nice, quiet street, a block from the plaza, near restaurants, shops, coffee, chocolate, & other necessities.

We loved the property. In over 25 years of using vacation rentals this was one of the cleanest and most well stocked that we have stayed at. The location is ideal in the north end of town across the road from the Town Plaza. The Harwood Museum is a couple of doors down and we walked to dinner on two of the nights that we were there.
The property is listed as sleeping 8 which it will. However the living room seats 4 and the dining area only seats 4. The kitchen is also small but could cook for 8, it would just be a cozy experience.
The bathrooms & bedrooms are very nice but dark. My wife had to buy a lighted makeup mirror. Water pressure was disappointing. We showered at the same time once and made sure to not do that again.
The patio area was nice but is in the front. There is a vine-covered, bamboo fence but when we stayed in late October the leaves were off. Privacy was a bit compromised. The hot tub is up against the fence so putting the cover between the spa and fence is a good idea.
The biggest issue with the property is parking. You can fit two vehicles in the driveway but getting into the driveway is tough. Ledoux Street would be called Ledoux Alley and it is very narrow at the entrance to the property. I have an extended cab pickup and getting in and out was a process. I highly recommend against traveling in full-size trucks or SUV's.
Overall this is a nice property. Larger parties will have to make accommodations when staying there. Eating, showering and having all of a large party in the living room would be issues to take into account. The location is exceptionally convenient even to the shi Valley.
Restaurants we liked. Michael's Kitchen, La Cuerva, Farmhouse Cafe and Doc Martin's. The burger at the Farmhouse was outstanding. Michael's has great breads & doughnuts.

Terrific Taos Find
Location! Location! Location!
The location to the Taos square is absolutely perfect. Great restaurants and cute shops are within easy walking distance.
Everything we needed was available in the unit. Cozy gas fireplace that was a lifesaver when an unexpected snow storm knocked the power out for about 14 hours. The next door neighbor even brought over extra candles to use during the outage.
One caution: If you drive a large vehicle, you may have trouble pulling into and out of the driveway.
We will most certainly return!!

The property was located very near downtown - very convenient. However the place was dirty, the dishes unclean, landscaping unkept, parking difficult. Seems like they tried to skimp everywhere possible. Toilet paper and scott towels could not have been cheaper. We left 2 days early.

Wonderful location.
Enjoyed it very much. The court yard and hot tub are wonderful. The location really makes this perfect. Can walk to so many fun things. The fireplace was perfect for taking off the chill. The bathrooms are small but it’s nice to have three of them. The third bedroom is very small. Would be fun for kids. Kitchen well supplied. I would stay there again. It’s pretty awesome.

Our trip was 3 friends for our annual ski trip to Taos. We usually stay on the mountain but with COVID and limited Apres and dining on mountain, we opted to try downtown. It was only about 30 minutes up to the mountain - easy breezy. The little place was PERFECT for 3 guys, the location was perfect (got to walk to Taos Mesa Brewing!) and had everything we needed. The hot tub was awesome after a hard day of skiing. Two little things to be aware of: it's a little hard to find the first time - tucked back off a little one-way road that really looks more like an alley than a road and getting in/out off the driveway with a large SUV was a little challenging at times as the road("alley") is fairly narrow and there are often cars parked in it! And while there are 3 bathrooms (AWESOME!) the water pressure can't really hold up to multiple showers going at the same time; so we staggered just a bit. A minor annoyance for a great place. All in all we've changed our tune about staying on the mountain and will look to stay back here in 2022!

Great location in Taos
We came to Taos for hiking and other “socially-distanced” outdoor adventures. We loved the location in town-walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, and town square shopping. Many shops, galleries, museums are still closed due to COVID-19, but we found plenty to do outside. The home was just as advertised. The kitchen was well stocked with nice cookware and some spices Beds are comfortable. Neighbors were friendly. The hot tub worked well too! We would definitely return to this house.
