Our apartment is located in the center of Amsterdam on the southern part of the canals near the 'Spiegelgracht' where all the galleries are.
It is 2 minutes from Leidseplein;
Leidseplein is very busy, both during the day and at night. When the sun shines, the terraces fill quickly. Street performers entertain the crowd, with acrobatic acts and music. At night the crowd changes: Amsterdammers go out here to celebrate, and to visit the theatres, cinemas and clubs. It is also possible to rent bicycles at Leidseplein, where you can store them in our bicycle shed.
On February 1, 1999, the Dutch government decided to qualify the inner city, the canals of Amsterdam, as a monument, a protected inner city view. The Canal Belt (ranging from the Singel to the Prinsengracht) is a historically important part of this region, and it is one of the most beautiful sights of the city.
The canal belt starts at Amstel and ends at Brouwersgracht. A third of the houses along the canals (grachtenhuizen) were built before 1850. During the 17th century the city expanded its borders, and canals were formed in a belt around the oldest part of Amsterdam to accommodate wealthy merchants and citizens. First the Singel was excavated, then the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and, last of all, Prinsengracht.

Metro at end of block takes you straight to central station. Short walks to rijks and Van Gogh - great neighborhood. Wonderful views from kitchen/main area. Kitchen had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

This was a great apartment. It was clean and well maintained and the host was very nice, showing us around and helping us with luggage when we arrived. I have 0 complaints!
Actually it was even better than the listing says because there is actually a metro stop just at the corner. So getting to/from the airport (via South Station) and getting to Central Station was even easier than expected.I would absolutely recommend this place.
I don't know if it's mentioned in the listing, but FYI there are 2 flights of stairs to get to the apartment. They are not as narrow/steep as I was expecting, but it is Amsterdam--so plan accordingly. The steps were no trouble for us and our kids. Any rental you're considering be sure to ask what floor it's on and how many steps there are!

We loved this apartment. The owner and two adorable daughters greeted us at the property and made us feel quite at home. Such a beautiful view of the canals and perfect location, just a short walk to the Rijksmuseum. It was perfect. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Our stay was absolutely perfect—perfect location, perfect comfort, perfect canal view, and perfect management. Caszijn was so attentive and accommodating before, during, and after our stay. A superlative VRBO. We’ll be sending our friends!

Our entire experience was exceptional.
Communication with the owners from the first day our trip was booked up until the day we left was timely and informative. Location on the canal was perfect and the views were amazing. We can't say enough about how wonderful this space was and how it had such a positive effect on our family's trip to Amsterdam. Highly recommended.
Thank you Cazjin.

We had a wonderful time in this lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. The best part was the location. We were only an 8 minute walk from the Reichs Museum and there were several restaurants and shops around us. We enjoyed watching the boats float by from our windows on the 3rd floor (they call it the 2nd floor). The stairs are a bit steep when bringing your luggage up but the unit is well worth the trouble. The beds were comfortable, linens excellent, kitchen brand new, and the Living room and dining room very comfortable. We hope to come back again and stay in this wonderful place.

A "must-rent" apartment in a centrally located area of Amsterdam
My husband, 19 year old son and I just came back from a glorious 10 days in this beautiful, clean and charming apartment. It is located on a beautiful canal and within walking distance to museums that we visited (Rijks and Van Gogh), the Anne Frank House, shopping districts and many delicious restaurants and bars. It is also located a block from a Metro station, which we used to travel to other museums and attractions. The apartment is a true two bedroom and two bathroom (with two showers) delight. The owners are very responsive and provided many videos to acquaint us with the location (as they were traveling when we arrived) and even mailed us the keys so as to not delay the arrival. The stairs are typical Dutch (steep, narrow and spiraled) but there are handrails on both sides. Tip-give the Buffet de Odette as the destination to the taxi driver rather than the address to the apartment. We will definitely rent this apartment again.

Beautiful place, great host and perfect location
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The apartment was beautiful with an amazing view of the canals. The location was perfect for spending time in the canal streets or going to the museums. Our host was fabulous. He met us and helped take the bags up stairs. Gave our baby a cute gift that she won’t put down. The whole experience made our trip effortless and super enjoyable.

The Definition of “Home Away”
This is our 2nd time staying here. It’s in the most picturesque location with close access to museums, parks, restaurants and shops. There is a new subway station 1 block away. The apt. has an amazing view and is very comfortable. Loved staying there.

Beautiful place with tons of light in great location
We loved staying in this apartment.... very uplifting in feeling because of all the huge windows with beautiful views of the canal. Also a perfect location for exploring both the inner canal rings and the Museum district and large city park. Our host was there to meet us and show us around the apartment, which was spacious and comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Lovely apartment with great location!
Very nice apartment provided private space for two couples. Open and especially bright as it's located on a corner with wrap around windows in the living area. Location was central to everywhere we went with metro stop just a few steps away and restaurant row only a bit further. Wonderful hosts!

Lovely property and fantastic location for access to all of Amsterdam inlcuding mass transit
Beautiful views of the canals. A very comfortable apartment close to everything in Amsterdam. We were there for business and it was one block away from the new Metro (subway) ands two stops from the RAI. Each bedroom had its own bath which is unusual and made things very easy for us. The hosts were charming and very nice. The apartment was well appointed with the basics needed for cooking, coffee and tea. We will be there again next year.

Overall excellent
The Canal House has an incomparable location: around the corner from museums and near the lovely park, yet away from the congested center city. And, the view of the canal and its never ending “theater” is very entertaining. The kitchen facilities are above average for those of us who like the fresh fish that you will find in the open air markets.
Even those (like me) of “mature” age find Dutch stairs manageable.

Amazing light-filled corner apartment—beautiful views!
We arrived at the end of the year and stayed for New Year’s Eve. We were hoping for snow and skating, but got rain. But what a wonderful place to stay in such weather. I was quite happy to drink tea near the fire and watch the people watch out the huge windows that look out at the canal. The owner was there when we arrived to show us around—AND he took our suitcases up the stairs to the apartment, which was so nice. The high ceilings were great, there were hardwood floors throughout, and it was very stylishly decorated. Like it could be in a magazine. Full kitchen too, nice and cozy to stay in and cook instead of going out for every meal. It was very near the museums and also groceries and cute shops. For New Year’s Eve, we had an amazing view of fireworks that people in the neighborhood set off. A crazy amount of fireworks. Unforgettable. Highly recommend staying here:)

Little Gem on the Prinsengracht
I honestly can't say enough good things about this lovely apartment rental. Right from the start, Cazjin was warm, personable and helpful and carried our luggage up the two flights of steps for us. But the apartment itself is a little gem of beautiful location, views of the canal and the houses across the street from the corner windows, along with decorating touches found in fine boutique hotels. The layout was excellent for two adults but could have easily accommodated others. The apartment is centrally located and we walked everywhere. We enjoyed the apartment so much and as it was a time for us to rest up a bit before launching onto Africa, we spent many afternoons and evenings curled up with good books in the sitting room. We came away loving Amsterdam in the winter and this little gem of an apartment in particular.

Perfect private luxury in the centre of Amsterdam
* Perfect location with stunning view at 5 minutes'walk from Rijksmuseum, 8 minutes' walk from van Gogh museum, 15 minutes' walk from the Hermitage museum. Foodstore and luxury cakeshop close by.
* Property was clean and well-maintained with 2 bedrooms with their own bathroom.
* The owner provided good customer service.
* We dined out 3 times: at La Cacerola (3 minutes'walk) in the Weteringstraat (delicious), at the White Room in Krasnapolski (1-star restaurant) and in the van Baerlestraat. We visited the 3 museums mentioned above and the Stedelijk museum.
* We had a lovely and comfortable stay and would certaintly recommend the property to friends or relatives.

Location Location Location! View View View!
Both are five star. Huge wrap around windows in the main living area open on to spectacular views of the canal and allow light to fill the space. The apartment is beautifully situated for getting to a major attractions either on foot or by tram as several lines run close by. The apartment is comfortably outfitted although one suspects the renovation is no longer “new” as furniture, sofa, bed and linens could all use a refresh soon. Everything worked well except the gas fireplace which had no gas and which, upon reading the notes left for visitors, the owners would really prefer you not use. There are many good reasons for this, all of which we support, but the gas fireplace should be labeled non-working in the list of amenities. We had been looking forward to it during a cold January stay. This is not a luxury apartment but it is very nice. The stairs did not trouble us, but be prepared for them. I happen to be noise sensitive which posed a problem. It is a fairly busy corner on the Prinzengracht with car, bike and foot traffic at all hours (and the engine noise and chatter that accompanies them). The cafe below is open until midnight 6 days a week and attracts a younger crowd later at night. Our windows were shut to the frigid night air and we could still hear the music and conversations (especially from the smokers gathered on the outside terrace) at all hours. Mornings we heard the music pumping as the crew opened up the kitchen, and it varied in loudness throughout the day. But on Friday night some sort of after hours party finally drove my husband to the front door of the restaurant at 2 am to ask that the music be turned off. To compound the noise issue, the hardwood floors above us caused every movement by our neighbors to thunder overhead. It sounded like a herd of elephants although I suspect they were just going about their daily business. So, if you are at all noise sensitive, this apartment could be problematic. Having said all this, I want to end by saying the owners were lovely to deal with, responsive and flexible and this rental will definitely work well for the right people.
