This place is very homey and has a great location for a visit to North Hampton and East Hampton area. There were a few minor inconveniences, especially during a very hot and muggy stay. First there is only two air conditioners in the bedroom, which meant that the living area and kitchen were very stifling at times even if you try to use fans to move the cold air from the bedrooms.
second, the people sharing the House, did not tell me that the kitchen fan didn’t work, and when I turned it on when I was cooking on multiplications, they were quite invasive into the space. We were renting to tell me how loud it was for them. Again, this is something that should’ve been disclosed before we started because no one wants someone banging their doors or getting in their face about a loud sound that could’ve easily been prevented by telling us not to do it.
Finally, the instructions for cleanup and trash, as well as towels, and linens were not quite clear so my suggestion is that they make a booklet with more detailed descriptions of what to do and where to put the trash and recycling.

My husband and I have stayed at Mountain View many times and always look forward to it and disappointed when there is not an opening when we want to visit Northampton. It is comfortable, a conveniently located, private, spacious, and quiet. If you enjoy large windows with views of the MA mountains, this is the place for you.

You can tell a visit was a success when folks return again and again, and that is what we have done at Mountain View. And we will return November 26.

The expansive view of this lodging was an unexpected surprise as was the warmth of the inviting kitchen and the book laden living room. There is a food co-op close by and downtown Northampton is not far away. The host was gracious and helpful and knowing that he was one floor below was a comfort to this solo traveler. If you want privacy, quiet, and peace, this location has it all.

The house has a warm, rustic feel. The units are separated enough to provide privacy and quiet. The kitchen is very well stocked and set up. The owners couldn’t be nicer. We liked it so much we already booked for next year.

Stayed in Mountainview while my daughter attended a dance workshop for the week. The beds, sheets, and pillows we’re comfortable. We stayed during a very humid heat wave, and the two mini splits in the bedrooms were sufficient to cool off the entire living space. The owners are on site and available for questions, but also gave us privacy and space. They offered vegetables and herbs from their gardens. There are many outdoor seating areas to enjoy. The property is well off the road but easily accessible to the downtown and major routes. I would highly recommend staying here!

We really enjoyed our stay! The home was cozy, very roomy, with plenty of room for good times with family. We particularly enjoyed the open feeling and big picture window looking out on the grounds. The hosts were so nice and take great pride in their lovely home. We would definitely try to stay here again on our next visit to the area.

Great getaway place that is off the main road and very quiet but only minutes from food, grocery, dispensaries, whatever you may need. Kitchen has pots, pans utensils and dishwasher. John is immediately responsive to texts. The only cons are the very thin bath towels and shower curtain that doesn’t completely cover the shower. Would definitely stay again

Relaxing location close to everything you need! A perfect spot for us as we were running around to multiple family functions.

This was a lovely rustic apartment overlooking a garden and meadow. They owners were chefs so the kitchen and the equipment actually function which is nice and not always true in other places. The owners live below and there is another unit rented next door, but the owners have taken a lot of care to soundproof the walls and create private outdoor spaces. I would absolutely stay again.

We'v stayed at Mountain View several times and always enjoyed the quiet, privacy, location near places we want to go, and comfort. We were allowed to check in early which we greatly appreciated. We look forward to returning in the future.

My second time staying here for an annual Horse Show! Clean, quality furnishing, huge lawn, garden, parking. A sense of privacy but minutes from a large well stocked Co-op and minutes to downtown Northampton. A culture of quality, conservation, Food and the arts are expressed by the interior design and fit out. Grateful to have found this special place.

Beautiful June in the Pioneer Valley
We loved our two weeks in the country (but still so near to both Northampton and Easthampton!). John and Jim were great hosts— they brought us sugar snap peas and let us chop dill and chives from the garden. Our dog enjoyed roaming the property even though he and the host’s dog weren’t best friends. So much beauty in the area— we will return!

Country views, flowers, rock gardens, songbirds, and comfort.
Beautiful country setting with views of field and forest and the sounds of songbirds. Hosts have put a lot of thought, energy, and creativity into making both inside and outside beautiful and comfortable. Hosts are readily available, helpful, but never intrusive. Minutes from Northampton and Easthampton. Would definitely return.

Second visit to Mountain View
John and Jim are gracious hosts. The property is comfortable, quiet and well appointed. The view out back is beautiful and the perfect spot for morning coffee or evening wine. This was our second stay while visiting family and we’ll certainly be back.

Beautiful and relaxing setting close to everything
Amazing hosts -- kind and available for questions, great recommendations about area restaurants and bakeries, and the opportunity for to pull rhubarb from their garden.
The setting is gorgeous and feels open and rural, yet is only a mile or two from groceries, restaurants, and more. There is a hiking trail just around the corner in easy walking distance and many wonderful nearby places to hike, bike, go for a trail run.
I spent a few days working from the beautiful dining room solarium -- best work setting ever! -- then we had family in town for an event. This place had everything we needed and we appreciated the many well appointed indoor and outdoor spaces.

So comfortable and user friendly
Although there are 3 separate living spaces in the house, my husband, adult daughter, her dog and I never heard a sound from the others. We had plenty of private outdoor and indoor space. The owner is a former owner/ chef of a NY restaurant, so the kitchen is well equipped and easy to use. The Sonos sound system is fun; the WiFi is excellent.
The furniture is comfortable and well chosen. The collection of books and pottery is fascinating. The huge picture window overlooking the gardens and field is the focal point of the living room.
We would love to come back. Thanks John, Jim, and Toffee for a wonderful stay.

Stunning property in ideal location
We could not have been happier with our accommodations! This lovely home is set on a gorgeous property and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Our hosts responded helpfully to our questions and provided expert recommendations for good restaurants in Easthampton & Northampton, which are each a short drive away. We’d love to return for another visit!

Privelege and Peace
Staying at John and Jim's home was a privelege. Quietly located close to everywhere we needed to be., Fairgrounds, fun restaurants, shops, a Food Co-op. The home is spacious, thoughtfully furnished and decorated in a manner that felt personal to our hosts, willing to share with their guests for us to smile, dive in deep, or simply breathe. An inspiring garden, outdoor spaces with mountian views, all add to the sense of calm only nature provides. Cleanliness, quality of linens, attention to detail, and chef supplied kitchen wares all were part of this excellent property. My 14 year old daughter asked if we could come back . We were on the same page, and have booked for next year.

A great experience
We had a terrific 9 day stay at The Mountainview! Our hosts John and Jim were very accommodating and easygoing. Their place was very cozy, sunny and comfortable with many unique touches. We loved how they welcomed our dogs, who would definitely give 5 stars all around. We’ll be back

A great place for us to stay
We needed a place to stay in the area while we closed on our new house and got moved in. John's place was just right - it was close to our new house, is in a lovely setting, and was comfortable and cozy and provided all the amenities we needed. We loved the art and the style, and the large window in the living area that allows a beautiful view of the adjoining meadow.

Beautifully Appointed Spot in Easthampton
John & Jim's place was great as a home away from home for the Big E Fair in Springfield. We screwed up our reservation and they were incredibly accommodating on letting us stay an additional night. Thanks guys!

Delightful setting and comfortable home
One of my top VRBO [and airbnb, homeaway] stays. Lovely setting, kind and responsive hosts, comfortable digs, great water pressure, A/C if you need it and a WELL-EQUIPPED kitchen! Even more that I didn't use such as a sound system. Wifi and cell service was fine. Nice outdoor seating with several choices front of back. Lovely fields and veg garden. Easy 3-mile drive to Smith and since the home is in Easthampton, easy access to its grocery store [Big E - nice takeout] and restaurants without the busy hubbub of Northampton. A CVS nearby. I like to prepare my meals along with a wee bit of take out and it was a pleasure to do. Wish list: automatic coffeemaker and microwave would make the experience all the more wonderful!

July at Jim and John Property
Our one month stay went seamlessly! Both John, Jim and their dogs Dolly and Leaf were welcoming. We enjoyed the constant flow of garden vegetables!
Our days were extremely busy working a summer program at Smith College. Leaving campus to the calm of Jim and Johns property made our month so much smoother.

A beautiful, peaceful place with respectful, responsive owners
I had a wonderful two-week stay here during my research visit with a colleague at Smith. The space is beautiful and cozy and filled with light. The kitchen is well-appointed. There is a working fireplace. I was able to use the garage, and the driveway was quickly plowed after a snowstorm.
Even though it was winter, I could see that the grounds are lovingly maintained. I look forward to returning when things are greener. My dog enjoyed herself. She watched entranced as deer made their way through the yard at sunset. The drive into Northampton was a very manageable 10-15 minutes.
John and Jim gave me lots of privacy but were still incredibly responsive if I had any questions or concerns. In fact, they got back to me within one hour of arriving even though they were IN ITALY! Staying on their property is definitely money well spent.

A cozy but spacious cottage with an amazing view!
Jim and John were excellent hosts. The property was clean, well appointed and warm. We stayed for a little under a week with 2 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs and were very comfortable. It was easy to get to many shops and restaurants as well as the grocery store. We would definitely stay here again!
