About this house rental
This stunning and rare hillside property has a gorgeous view of ocean and mountains, yet is very close to all the amenities of the city. The lot is wooded and incredibly private, very serene setting in the summer and the house is fully furnished for complete comfort. The owners have been avid VRBO'ers for a decade and have a keen eye to what makes a rental a comfortable home for the time of your visit.
Master Bedroom- Queen Bed and half bath with shower. Plenty of space for additional PAC N Play or twin sized blow up mattress. Great space for a couple traveling with baby or young kids.
Two main floor bedrooms have a queen in one and a twin bunk beds with a crib.
The bottom floor bedroom has a queen bed and an extra twin day bed on this floor in the common room.
Loft- can be converted into extra sleeping areas. Best suited for kids or teens.
The house has wifi throughout. Baby Pack n Play cribs are available. Bathrooms have hair dryers.
The kitchen is well stocked for groups up to 12 and many handy appliances like Kitchen Aid stand mixer, coffee maker, immersion blender, and vitamix are available for use during your stay.
Having traveled extensively with three children, the owners have always found it helpful when a property has amenities suitable for children so here they have taken care to provide a selection of books, toys, games, high chair, kids eating utensils and outdoor play equipment for use and enjoyment during stay. The less you have to pack, the more you can enjoy your stay!
Access to grocery stores, shopping, airport, and even downtown tourist attractions are all within a short drive with quick access to the highway.
In the past, many groups have chosen to rent this location as a "home base" when traveling north and south to take advantage of day trips to surrounding towns for activities.

This is a wonderful place to stay with children. There is an outdoor play-set and lots of toys and books in the house. The view from the big deck is beautiful, and the deck is a perfect place to just sit and visit.

Overall, we had a nice stay. We really enjoyed the ocean view and the inside of the house is beautifully decorated. I also really liked all the doterra products. However, a couple of people in our group greatly disliked them, which was a big issue as doterra products are all over the house and used in the cleaning supplies. I think someone before us might of used an oil-based cleaner throughout the kitchen area because everything was STICKY (which is my only complaint). My husband and I had the full-size bed on the main floor, which we thought was relatively comfortable. My daughter and mother slept in the bunk beds, which I guess were uncomfortable. My mother and father-in-law stayed in the upstairs bedroom and had several complaints about the bathroom (i.e. the poor water pressure and almost bashing their heads on the beam). The showers on the lower levels were fine. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

The house was perfect for our family to use for a home base while we visited sights around Anchorage, Whittier, and Seward. The views from the deck are amazing and the house had everything we needed for eight adults to stay comfortably for a week.

For the price point I ended up paying per night, I felt the home had a lot of wear and tear. The master bedroom is nice and bright, but the bathroom is a minuscule afterthought. The water pressure was so bad on second floor, we couldn’t get the shampoo out of our hair. The bedroom I stayed in on main floor was dark and musty, with rusty light fixture with no bulb. The only place to hang my clothes was on a plastic hook behind the door. Also, the ground level had an overwhelming odor of mildew. Again, for what I paid per night, not up to par.
The uoside is, the neighborhood and location are A+, and the view was amazing.

We had an amazing time while in Anchorage, and we really enjoyed your home. It had all of the amenities one would need, except for air conditioning. But who would think you would need that in Alaska? We had very warm temps during our stay, which made some of the rooms uncomfortable for sleeping. I can't really complain about that, though, because everything else made up for it.
There were plenty of beds for sleeping, but I might suggest a double bed where you have the bunk beds or to do a double bottom bunk with a twin top. Otherwise, it was perfect. The house was clean and stocked with spices and coffee, toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, and other things you normally wouldn't find in a VRBO home. That was a nice surprise.
We had an issue with a couple of the toilets, but they were taken care of very quickly. We were impressed with the response we received in that regard.
This location is perfect. We were only about 15-20 minutes from downtown and going in the other direction, no a far drive to Whittier, Girdwood and Seward. All of which are wonderful places to visit as well.
We enjoyed many evenings on the deck, which had a spectacular view. You could see Potter's Marsh down below, and it's only a ten-minute drive or less to get there. We were able to see a moose, salmon, and enjoy a nice walk on the boardwalk there.
Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy your home. We would definitely recommend it.
Sincerely,
Cathy

The Hillside Home is a house with a beautiful view of the water. It was a great base for day trips in and around Anchorage. The rooms were comfortable and allowed us the opportunity to eat and visit as a family after arriving in Anchorage following several hectic days touring the northern Alaska interior. Nice, comfortable and convenient to the city and the airport. I would stay there again. Thank you Giroux Family!

This is the best place to stay in Anchorage. Just a few minutes outside the city so you are in the beautiful woods with an amazing scenery. Our family stayed for a week and we did so much. Glaciers, whale watching, hikes, great food, and wildlife are all within driving distance.
This house was perfect. It had a lot of space for my big family. The kitchen had everything we needed to make some nice dinners. The rooms were cozy and comfortable with clean linens and towels. My kids loved playing in the yard on the play equipment, tire swing, and slide. The deck has a great view of the bay and you will love watching the sunset as you sip on a warm drink.
Our host was amazing. She was gracious in answering all our questions and really helped us plan a fun trip. She always had honest answers and understood what kind of vacation we were looking for.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Have fun!!!
