We needed a little family getaway because Phoenix decided to stay hotter than normal this time of year and we had never been to Oceanside before. The property is very close to the shops and food downtown. Probably further than you want to walk but if you’re an active group, walking could be an option for you. We did walk during the evenings through the neighborhood and there was a high school not far away that was having a night football game, which was fun to walk past. There is parking down by the strands beach that’s two dollars for the whole day and was widely available even during the weekend time which was great. The food and the shops were great and the home was a lot of fun for the family. The pool was great. The spa was great. The ping-pong table had all new equipment there were corn hole boards to play and a beautiful outside kitchen /cooking area with a brand new and very clean KitchenAid grill. Overall, we had a great experience. The ownership was great to communicate with on a few things that we had questions about and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Backyard update is awesome. We have stayed here twice and will stay again!

The house was large and the yard was very well set up. We had two kids that loved the pool and the playhouse.

Great location, perfect for large groups, and the backyard/pool area is awesome! Very minor complaints about the quality of some of the items in the house along with some functional issues...i.e. you can't get to the backyard without walking through a bedroom or going out the front door, around the side through a heavy wood gate, and then down several steps. Overall, a great place to stay though!

The outside amenities were great! Outdoor kitchen, pool, hot tub, ping pong, and corn hole. Lots of fun! The beds were nice and comfortable. The pool floats need replaced. Very worn and some have holes. Inside the home there seems to be a sugar ant problem, mostly in the kitchen. Front door doesn’t close unless you lock it. Make sure you bring your own coffee, salt, pepper, sugar and laundry soap. Basic items that are often in VRBO’s, especially when you pay so much. Neighbors are very close and it’s a sketchy neighborhood. Beach isn’t as close as we thought, you will want to drive.

It was a wonderful memory making vacation for our family. Kevin was very accomodating..

My son and 3 of his fellow baseball teammates and families shared this amazing home! There was plenty of room to accommodate 4 families and have separation for privacy and plenty of entertainment in the backyard. The owner was very responsive to a question that I had, and the home was clean and met all of our expectations. I would highly recommend this home for larger families or groups. On a separate note, the boys won their baseball tournament! Wonderful home in a great neighborhood and close to amenities.

We were celebrating my wife’s 60th birthday with our kids and grandkids. The property was very spacious but the pool with the spa and slide was the best. We were able to spend time at the beach and then unwind back at the house while the kids played in the pool. We bbq every night with the outdoor kitchen a huge plus.

Our grandkids loved the pool and we had plenty of room for all 10 of us. It was in a good location. Close access to beach and freeway. It was a great time!

My extended family loved this location and rental property! The backyard is especially fun and engaging. The inside has lots of sleeping options and is very accommodating. I would suggest a few small improvements, such as a couple of mattress upgrades/changes (the basement bedroom underneath the kitchen could have a more comfortable mattress and the top bunk mattress in the family room downstairs was a bit thick so that it wouldn’t be a safe too bunk for a younger kid… also could use some smaller things that would be easy to add: broom, oven mitt, and a repair of the deck railing. Overall, my family of 11 (7 adults and 4 kids) had a great time and felt very comfortable and at home at this property. The owner was super responsive, reasonable and accommodating. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed this property. Our extended family of 10 had a great time staying here. After sight seeing during the day, the kids kept busy in the pool in the evenings. The outdoor space was great for gathering and eating. The location was close to the beach and a park. It was also convenient to many tourist destinations.

The house was great for our needs, it was sunny and spacious which was perfect for entertaining. The house was comfortable with plenty of seating for everyone. The outdoor area was a dream, with the pool, hot tub, gas fire pit and ping pong table. We had a wonderful time here and our Host Kevin was amazing!

The property was advertised as a five bedroom house. That is why we rented it. One of the "bedrooms," had a bunk bed that was situated in a hallway at the bottom of the stairs to the lower level. The space the bunk bed was located in had no doors and no closet. By definition it is not a bedroom. Our family had to put a crib in a bedroom with the parents they all did not sleep well for the entire week and ended up leaving early. The house as configured is not a five bedroom house.
The house is listed as being 2200square feet. Real estate listings for the property indicate that it is really 1790 square feet. It does not appear that the their has been an addition that enlarged the footprint of the house from what we saw in the real estate listings for this property so we suspect that the square footage in the VRBO listing is inaccurate. We would not have rented such a small space for 10 people.
In the photos of the property it appears that the playground and pool are both in the same space. In reality the pool is in the back of the house and the playground is in the front of the house. Making it hard for parents to care for their two children at the same time with one in the pool and one in the backyard
We really feel we were taken advantage of by all these inaccurate descriptions of the property and paid for something we did not get!!
There were also issues with the quality of the property.
One of the bedrooms in the front of the house had mold on the ceiling. Another bedroom had no overhead light in the closet and an air conditioner vent that was secured with cardboard and duct tape. The door to the hallway in the primary bedroom did not stay closed making privacy an issue.
The owner was responsive to the issues we brought to his attention. We did not want to be in conflict with him during our stay and did not bring all these other issues in this review to his attention in a formal way. We also did not want work men in the house during our stay because of COVID issues.
We are not sure we will ever use VRBO again and we will advise others not to use it because this property did not seem to be vetted by VRBO

First time Our Family decided to get a house all together!
Our whole family, us the parents and our 4 adult children with families 14 of us in all had a blast!
The house was clean, and spacious enough for us to all have time together and apart.
The pool and hot tub were for us the best part, we spent most of our time out there.
Close to restaurants, coffee shops, and the beach.
The neighborhood was quiet and comfortable safety wise.
I would recommend this property.

Fun for the kids
The outdoor setup of this house was a lot of fun for the kids. They loved the pool, slide and playground. Communication with Kevin was good and he is quick to provide a response. We had a few hiccups with a clogged kitchen sink and lack of heating for the pool (we paid for 3 days and it only heated up on the last day), but Kevin worked hard to fix the issues as soon as possible.

Such a great house and location. Perfect vacation!
This property has just been completely renovated, inside and out. It's a beautiful house with an amazing yard. The pool, jacuzzi, and water slide are all in pristine condition. We went with our little family of 4, but this house could easily fit two families comfortably. The huge swing set in the front yard was a big hit with our kids. Kevin couldn't have been more accommodating. He communicated with us the entire time and was on top of anything that we needed. It's also walking distance to some great restaurants and a short drive to the beach and great parks. Oceanside is a great town and we can wait to go back!

Great Family gathering spot
Really enjoyed our stay here. Worked nicely for 3 families to get together, well stocked kitchen and good area to hang out in the back yard with the pool. Nice location about a 1/2 walk down to the beach with some cool restaurants and coffee shops close by.

Great property for a family with children
Pool and hot tub were great. Our 5 year old amd 3 year old loved the jungle gym. Evenings, we enjoyed the gas fire pit and the weather was perfect—cool evenings and low humidity/warm days. Kitchen was well stocked with plates, glasses, and plenty of pots and pans. There was even a waffle iron. We enjoyed the many amenities nearby—Legoland, San Diego zoo, Hotel Coronado, Oceanside beach and pier. Pelly’s seafood market had great seafood to grill, Joes crab house was great, amd we enjoyed Felix’s barbecue and Knockout pizza. Instructions for the pool were a little confusing as were instructions for garbage pickup. However, Kevin was responsive and helped clarify. I recommend a couple of safety fixes: Downstairs steps did not have a railing, which is a concern for families with small children and elderly parents. Also, the bathtubs were very slippery and needed a mats or decals for traction. Also recommend putting rubber cushion mats (which many pools have) around the base of the slide. All in all, however, it was a great stay for our family. And we highly recommend it.

I would give this place a zero star if I could.
Super host was uncommunicative. Didn’t answer emails or texts. Place was FILTHY! Cockroaches and ants… one night my daughter and her husband slept on the couch upstairs because ants had infested their bed. Yard was overgrown with weeds and foxtails. Side yard filled with old appliances and a mattress. Broken furniture in the house. Furniture was stained and dirty. I have always had a good experience with VRBO until this trip. Pictures of rental are deceptive and VRBO need to check this place out and take them off their list. Evidence of deception on rental listing- not a five bedroom rental- zoned as a short term rental four bedroom by Oceanside Short Term Rentals. Also square footage wasn’t what was listed.
Family vacation- first since COVID- haven’t been together for a year and a half and this is what we got for almost $8,000.00.

Beach House Bust
I walked up to an overflowing, and broken off mailbox, knee high weeds, rotted railings and dirty indoor chair on the front porch. It seems this rental is in the process of remodeling but many projects are left incomplete. Owner responded to my request to provide a working dryer in one day. Handyman switched one old dryer for a different old, lint filled dryer, breaking a plastic accordion door. He added the door and broken dryer to a pile of several “dead” appliances and mattresses to the side yard of the rental. The refrigerator ice maker never worked. The oven door didn’t close and leaked gas smell into the kitchen. Ants and roaches were found in three rooms of the house. Towels were plentiful, but many were “rag-quality”. Toilet paper dispensers were all ripped off the wall. Furniture was dirty, worn, and broken. The neighborhood was transitional and too far to be called “beach-walkable “ for little kids. The whole vibe was “frat house”. We just resolved to make it a nice vacation despite the deficits of our rental. I do not recommend this place. I kept apologizing to my family for my mistake. I have photos to prove my negative review.

Great place for our families
Great property for our family to stay at. We loved playing in the pool, proximity to the beach, and layout of the house to chill at after a busy day. Easy check-in and great communication from the host!

Great Location but house Lacking
We had a nice time despite quite a few issues with the house. The house has an amazing location within a mile of the beach. The kids had a great time in the pool. The water slide was a big hit. There were plenty of rooms and beds for everyone. However, our overall experience was disappointing to say the least. Overgrown weeds cover both the front and back yards. Inside, there are broken faucets and cabinets, a stale smoke smell in the basement, unfinished baseboards and junk piled up at the side of the house. One night when flipping on the kitchen light, we noticed cockroaches scurrying under the fridge and cabinets. There are no screens on any of the windows, including the 2nd story windows which is a huge safety risk for small kids, and no railings going down the basement stairs which was hard for my 83 year old father-in-law to navigate.. There are plenty of pans and cookware but they are old and many are unclean, encrusted with old food, probably because the dishwasher doesn’t work great. We had to bushwack through 8 ft. tall weeds to get in and out of our cars and both of our cars ended up getting nails and costing us hundreds of dollars because the back parking area wasn’t kept up. The house just isn’t maintained well and it’s pretty obvious the owner doesn’t really care. We wouldn’t have actually minded if we were paying a reduced rate. It served its purpose. Everyone had fun at the pool and at the beach. The problem is we were paying top dollar ($1,000/night) for a discount experience. It hurts forking over that much cash when it isn’t worth it. I would never have booked the rental and paid that much if I had known the condition of the house to begin with.

Vacation get away
We had an excellent time at Kevin’s house. It is an older home but they have redone it beautifully. It’s close to the beach which was very great. There were a few minor issues but we informed Kevin and he said that he would address them ASAP. Overall the place was great. Kids had a wonderful time in the back yard. Perfect family/friends get away!

Sorry to have to give this review
We have stayed in several properties before, and were drawn to this property because of being close to the beach and having a pool. Unfortunately the jacuzzi never worked and after 2 days the pool filtration system wasn't working. I tried several times to contact Kevin but he would not reply. I had contacted him before I made the reservation about the complaints that were listed from a previous renter. He assured me all items had been corrected. They were not. There was mold in the bathrooms and around the kitchen sink. Missing several kitchen items but lots of pots and pans.
No washclothes but plenty of towels.

Has great potential but needs attention
The photos were obviously taken when the property was in its prime. It was clean but there were many issues with walls with holes, unpainted patches, no screens on windows, many electrical outlets didn’t work, damage to doors, cabinets, etc. random junk in closets. The kitchen supplies were terrible, had to bring in our own supplies. There was zero to no lighting in the back yard, had to bring in our own to swim safely at night. The jacuzzi had tile placed in the entry portion that was not slip resistant and multiple people got hurt trying to get in and out so we had to place a towel over the tiles to help make it safer. The ping pong, cornhole, horseshoes, and play set we were so excited for were all worthless. Warped ruined and no supplies to use them. The landscaping had not been done at all, weeds for days and old dog poop still in the yard and the horseshoe pits.
I understand the some renters do not treat properties well, however, it appears that the property has not been given the proper upkeep and care needed to hide previous renter’s damages. None of the issues were worth interrupting our stay to deal with and realistic resolutions would not have been possible during our stay. We also had an issue with the firepit and once I texted the owner he did respond and provided a solution. Overall it was okay, we were lucky that we live close and could provide our own solutions. If the property is updated with supplies (good quality towels, kitchen utensils, dishes, adequate amounts of toilet paper, etc) and the general maintenance is done it could be a fantastic place.

The pool was our main draw
If you are looking for a big house with a pool, near the beach....this is it.
The walk to the beach was about 1 mile and we did it with our grandchildren.
There are a few cosmetic things that need repair but over all it fit the bill.
The playground in the back was a hit and helped give the kids more to do.
Parking out front is a challenge, but there is parking out back

Large size house with pool, pool slide and hot tub. Great place for families with kids, activities include horseshoe, cornhole and ping pong. Fire place too, but it wasn't working when we were there. Good place to stay!
