This house did look like the pictures but has deferred maintenance. For the first two days we didn’t have hot water. There is mold growing in the northwest corner of the living room. There are several lights that didn’t work, a roof leak when it rained and the pool was stagnant (the pump never turned on). The house was also stocked with the minimum. One roll of paper towel, no laundry detergent and not enough silverware so you had to wash every time you used it. The washer machine didn’t work as there was not enough water pressure to run a load. I had to fill up a 5 gallon jug and manually fill the machine several times until it had enough water to wash the clothing. We also had red ants in the master bedroom.

A beautiful place to unplug and relax. Secluded Beachfront in a beautiful setting with great lighting in the house and outdoor space.
Highly recommend if you would like to unplug from everything, enjoy cooking and quiet.

Thanksgiving Break
Adriana is a wonderful host, very responsive and helpful. Her home is wonderful, one of the nicest in the area I feel. Right on the beach with just enough vegetarian to make you feel secluded. Very quiet and relaxing. You are a bit far from a full on grocery store though there are no shortage of minimarts or convenience stores within 3-15 minutes. Do take a bug spray you trust and don’t mind boating yourself with: my daughter who seldom gets bit, came home with over 250 bites on her legs (we quit counting). Got Hydrocortisone at a pharmacy in Progreso after 3 days of scratching- welcome relief! No-See-Ums and mosquitoes, be prepared.
It was a great adventure in a beautiful location in a lovely home.

Wonderful Time
We really enjoyed our stay at BarMar. It is off the beaten path, right on the sand, and a nice beach house. Adriana is tremendously helpful and responsiveness and went above and beyond for us.
Thank you!

Lovely stay
Another great stay at Adriana’s home. The addition of the deck was a pleasant surprise and we spent many hours there playing in the sand. We wouldn’t hesitate to book Adriana’s home again on future travels.

Beautiful Private Beach
This home location feels like a private beach. It really is so quiet and the views are amazing. Adriana was very friendly and easy to work with answering my questions quickly. We had no issues at all with the home and it suited our needs. We did need a couple extra pots from what they supplied for our menu but they were easy enough to get at Bodega and we left both for future guests. Thank you Adriana and hope to visit again one day.

Bar Mar 25 km March 2020
This is one of those properties that is exactly (or even better) than described on the website. Beautiful modern house with large bedrooms and bathrooms. Great living space and kitchen with enough freezers and refrigerators to stock up. Plus a washer and dryer!
We wanted to have a holiday "of the grid" from resorts, and this house was paradise to us. It's close enough to Progresso where you can find anything you want or will need. Some really great restaurants in Progresso too, if you feel like it. Humo Bistro and Crabster is highly recommended for great dinning, 5 star service and excellent food.....very well priced too.
The owners of the house were extremely helpful and professional all the way during our stay. Garbage were taken care of daily and they will go out of their way to help if something comes up.
The pool, view, and outside space is just the cherry on the cake. We spend most of our days in the pool and outside on the patio.
The kayaks were an awesome extra!
During our stay there was quite a bit of sea grass on the beach and some days were a bit windy .....nothing anybody can do about the weather and a good reason to go explore Progresso and the Mayan Ruins on those days!
We highly recommend this property if you are looking for something of the grid but still not totally isolated.
We hope to go back in the future!

Natural Beachfront paradise
Great property, excellent layout for a large family or 3 couples. Probably one of the nicest layouts we have rented worldwide actually. Very quiet, peaceful, nice breeze most of the time, very shallow very safe ocean/beach for kids, swimming, kayaking, wading, wind surfing, etc. There were always birds to watch flying & diving along the beach, very cool. Small hotel within a few hundred meters down the beach with restaurant, otherwise restaurants/shops are all several kms away (Progreso is a great little port town 25km west, nice clean friendly malecon, Crabsters was excellent food & value, grocery stores, fresh food markets, etc). Pool was used several times a day by our kids, very kid friendly for a 9, 7 & 2 year old and us adults as well. Two fridges & a stand up freezer too, so if you want to stock up on food its perfect. We found that costco in Merida was handy, however here it seems that costco is more for wealthy locals that want to eat North American food, and we actually found considerably better value at the Progreso markets & grocery stores, only exception would be if you feel the need for a big American steak. The local fish, chicken & pork were all awesome, and the grocery store deli will cut you thick sliced bacon on request. Can't find Aloe Vera Gel anywhere:) There is a big 5 burner gas stove, a charcoal bbq (need to buy your own briquettes), and a small toaster oven, There is no full size oven if you are thinking of baking/roasting...the toaster oven can roast a couple chicken quarters at a time... Everyone we dealt with WRT the property was friendly & punctual.

Wonderful Home & Beach Front Property
We stayed at BarMar for 10 days over the Christmas holidays. Adriana met us at the house and gave us a tour and explained how a few things work. The house is immaculate, beautifully decorated and spacious with well appointed kitchen and 4 full bathrooms. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer, a second fridge, a stand up freezer. The home also has a filtered water cooler, a kitchen fridge with filtered water and ice maker, plus air conditioning and fans in every room, and a charcoal BBQ. The kitchen has a gas cooktop and toaster oven, but no stove and no dishwasher, which was fine for us. The hot water is “on demand” and worked well in all the showers, but not so well in the kitchen. However, there is a filtered water cooler with a hot water tap in the kitchen that we used for washing dishes.
The property is very private with no immediate neighbours, which we loved. We throughly enjoyed the kayaks, the pool, the soccer pitch and the large sandy beach yard. BarMar is beach front and fortunate with its own large sandy yard that was perfect for sunning and beach games. The actual ocean beach, just steps ahead of the property’s sandy yard was unfortunately, and due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, densely covered with sea grass that the tides bring in. We were told by locals that this has been a persistent problem in the Yucatan for the past few years. Occasionally the tide also washes the grass away. We saw it for 9 of the 10 days of our stay, but it did not interfere with the enjoyment of our stay. The water is still accessible and the view is still amazing.
When we first arrived we did a major shop for food at the Costco in Merida, which is about a 40 minute drive. There is also an Oxxo convenience store located about 15 minutes west, and the town of Progreso, with a large grocery store is a further 7 minutes west. You definitely need a vehicle if you’re staying at BarMar and want to do some sight seeing. There is plenty to see and do nearby including touring dozens of fascinating Mayan ruins, beautiful/incredible cenotes and peaceful flamingo estuaries.
We highly recommend BarMar for its beauty, beach front location, privacy and gracious & cooperative host.

Excellent Stay on the Beach
We have stayed in many beach houses up and down the Yucatan coast and Adriana’s house is by far the best. We enjoyed the house so much we hope to return next year.
The interiors are excellent and very practical for a beach holiday. The beach is quiet, and a highlight was taking the kayaks out on the water. The towns of Telchac & Progreso are relatively close by for lunches & dinner.

Fantastic Stay in a Beautiful Beachfront Home
The attentive owners, Adriana and Ricardo, have truly made every effort to make their home your home away from home. My husband and I enjoyed our week stay at Bel Mar especially making use of the kayaks, the pool, long beach walks and waking up to gorgeous views. The home is beautifully decorated and very spacious. We loved hanging out on the shaded terrace protected from the afternoon winds and cooked more meals than we intended because we just didn't want to leave this gorgeous home. Although there is no full size oven or dishwasher, we had no problem cooking some great meals. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, and cooking utensils. There is a supermarket in Progreso that is pretty well stocked and also a Walmart on the way in from the airport.
We ate twice at Techno Beach Hotel, a short stroll down the beach. They have a pretty good menu (shrimp, fish and a few meat dishes) with reasonable prices and a full bar. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and accept credit cards. Progreso is about 20 minutes west where there is large selection of restaurants and Telchac Puerto is about 15 east with a few restaurants. Merida is a beautiful town that is worth seeing and is about 45 minutes south. Nearby the home we saw Mayan ruins and flamingos at Laguna Rosa.
We came for total relaxation and were not disappointed! It is obvious that the owners take great pride in their home and we were so happy to have found this gem!

Great Property
Perfect place for a week getaway, only regret is that we did not book 2 weeks! Adriana and Ricardo were very welcoming and accommodating. If our travels bring us back to the area we would not hesitate to stay here again!

Easy beautiful comfort on the Beach
This 3 bedroom 4 bath new villa with pool on the beach 15 minutes from Progreso is a relaxed delight. If you are looking for a seaside comfortable vacation with everything you need for an easy stay, you really can't do any better than this lovely house. Great kitchen and bathrooms, 2 bedrooms with en suite baths, third bedroom with bath on the hall, large living/dining room overlooking pool and beach. Bedrooms are all up a stairway that could use a bannister for safety. 2 bedrooms overlook the ocean. A/C everywhere you need it although during February to early March it was not necessary. Wonderful patio off the living room that provides shelter from the sometimes stiff breezes and leads to the pool and then a private beach just steps away. Fully equipped kitchen makes cooking at home easy with a large supermarket/department store just a 15 drive away. The house has the feeling of being new and provides everything you need for an oceanside stay. Hotel 5 minute walk down the beach has a good restaurant with both Mexican and American items on the menu. The pool is delightful, the ocean warmish, the beach covered with lovely shells and great for walks. highly recommended for a relaxed stay at the beach. Close to several Mayan sites and the city of Progreso. Car recommended. We would definitely return.

Amazing Property
I've been vacationing in Mexico for 10 years and was looking for someplace new to try. I stumbled across this region and this house. While I had no idea about the area, the house looked perfect. Let me be the first to say that the pictures are great, being there is even better. The house is beautiful, the peacefulness of the setting and being able to walk right out on to the beach was just amazing. The homeowners were great and answered any questions I had leading up to and during our stay. I will certainly be back.

Beautiful home, wonderful vacation
We had a very enjoyable week in this lovely home right on the beach - watch the pelicans from the nicely appointed kitchen and living room, or sit on the patio and enjoy the pool and view. The house has some really first rate features that you don't often find in rental properties. We really appreciated each bedroom having its own bathroom and not having to share a bath. The owners were extremely nice and made sure they went over all the property features and how everything worked when we checked in. The house is located a few miles from either Progreso or Telchac, so if you want to go into town for meals you need to be aware it's a bit of a drive. Merida is about a 30 minute drive, so stopping to get groceries on your way from the airport to the house would be wise. Once at the house, it's so comfortable you could easily choose to skip some of the many activities available in the area and just hang out watching the waves instead!

Amazing beachhouse where you can relax and be close to the nature
We really recommend this wonderful place. We are a family with 2 adults and 3 kids (7,10 and 12).
We had a great time during this week, we didn't want to leave the house because we loved it so much. But when we did, we either took the kayaks out early in the morning, in the sun rise or took a walk on the beach, collected shells and watched the pelicans. The beach is just outside the house!
We also took some dinners either at the beach club or in Progreso.
The house is very clean and also the pool!
The owners Adriana and Ricardo was amazing, we came late in the night and couldn't buy any breakfast and when we came they had been fixing it for us.
They were giving us a lot of advises about the area and were really generous people that we recommend!
A big thanks to you, Adriana and Ricardo, that let us rent your house, we will have good memories from this week.
