Very relaxing time. Great to spend lots of time lounging on the deck, canoeing, fishing, swimming, and exploring local towns on the coast. Host was very responsive. Enjoyed our stay.

The property is in excellent condition. Location right on the the lake on a tree covered lot with a great dock.
A big plus is the large deck which is great for relaxing and watching lake activity (birds, slow moving boats, scenery). You can even catch some nice sized bass right from the dock. Seems remote but you're only 20 minutes from some fine restaurants. We just needed more than one week,

Every detail was accounted for, bird feeders topped up, cozy lights on for our arrival, very clean. The view from the living room and deck is fantastic. This is a great place to stay. It was helpful to follow the printed directions on the final road, gmaps was not accurate at that point, but we were warned in advance.

Great cabin on the lake
What a great property and host! My family and I loved everything about our week stay. The greater Camden area is beautiful, with mountains right along the coast and many great small lakes, including Hobbs Pond which this cottage is located directly on. The nearby general stores have some necessities and anything you forgot to pack can be picked up 15 minutes away if they don't have what you need.
The pond is beautiful. We used the provided canoe and single kayak to explore the 1.5 mile long pond. We brought an inflatable SUP which allowed the 4 of us to be on the water all at once, a truly great experience. The views change as you paddle around exposing changing vistas and the wildlife is great. About 60-70% of the opposite shoreline is all wild and most cabins are set back so the shoreline isn't just a showcase of homes and cabins, you get to see more nature.
We saw so many different birds at the bird feeder each day and also saw bald and golden eagles on the lake, along with many loons and ducks. We taught our kids how to fish, mostly catching large mouth bass and 1 small mouth bass. The swimming right off the dock is great. At the time we went, it was approximately 5-6 feet deep just off of the dock, gradually getting deeper as you go out in the lake, no weeds in the immediate dock area.
The cottage was very clean and equipped with everything needed and everything worked as expected. The TV works off of a roku box although we brought our own Amazon Fire TV box which worked well. Internet speed was slow at about 6 Mbps but it was enough to be able to stream a show to wind down for 20 minutes at the end of a day or to connect to dreaded work emails. The main bedroom is away from the lake with its own bathroom and there is a small bedroom (one twin bed) opposite the other full bathroom and laundry room. The loft was really great with two twin beds with a nice sunrise view each day. The main living/dining area is great, only beaten out for the best room which is the covered deck.
The single lane road in and out is part of the experience. You feel like you are dropping into another world as you descend about 250' in elevation from the main road. Although we went in the prime time month of Aug and most cabins appeared to be occupied, the lake was very quiet through the week, with a few more motorboats on Fri/Sat/Sun. Most days it was very quiet with just people paddling around, exploring the full lake.
Can't wait to go back!

Soul-Soothing Vacation
If you are searching for a serenity, quiet, wildlife & the basics of what can make one happy; look no further. After a pandemic it was nice to be reminded to appreciate the beauty of a comfortable & safe place where ppl care. The home is kept very clean w/ all of the amenities you need. We annoyed coffee on the sheltered deck every day along w/ our meals while overlooking the water. It is so quiet minus the wildlife. The dock was also a favorite spot w/ the kayak (or canoe if you chose). Our dog found it exceptionally welcoming as he enjoyed the entire yard and water.
The owners were extremely kind and welcoming. They aimed to please us in any way they could. The Hope General Store is nearby and you can gather supplies there. We highly recommend your relaxing stay here, as we did! We thank you most kindly for opening your home to us

The Perfect Place to Rejuvenate!
My husband and I loved Call of the Loon. So peaceful, tranquil and relaxing on the very large Hobbs Pond. The cabin (larger than “cabin” connotes but tucked in the woods on the edge of the water like a cabin) was very well appointed and so tastefully decorated. We had everything we needed for a weeks stay. We loved having coffee and cocktails on the covered deck overlooking the water. I worked out with my trainer (via FaceTime) on the deck! Plenty of room. We even spent cool afternoons wrapped in wool blankets reading out there and watching the constant comings and goings of the birds to the feeders and listening to the loons talking to one another. My husband also enjoyed being out in the canoe fishing. Janey was a gem to deal with prior to our arrival and met us there to check us in, give the lay of the land and recommendations of restaurants and points of interest. This is a place you’d want to come back to again and again. We highly recommend it!

Great memories
3rd time staying at Call if the Loon. It’s nice to see that things haven’t changed since our last stay 5 years ago. Brought our kids for the first time and they loved it. We will definitely come back again. Thanks Janey and Arlo!

And Our Dog Loved It Too!!!
Our July vacation flew by way too quickly at loon lodge! Our family found the cottage to be beautiful and well maintained! The owners were a delight to chat with and made sure that our needs were met. Most of all, we were able to explore the mid-coast region of Maine; hiking up Bald Mountain, fishing in Hobbs Pond and discovering a variety of fine cuisine, all with our family dog by our side!

Wonderful place with everything you need
My wife and I have been bringing our two young daughters to Maine for six or seven years now, and this is the first place that my wife said she'd like to come back to, largely because it met all of her criteria. It was clean and thoughtfully decorated. She loved the covered porch with the comfy sofa, where she would sit and read or listen to the loons. We loved the gated porch for our dogs to snooze after a long session in the lake. The bird feeders and abundant activity around them, especially on the hummingbirds, were wonderful. Janey was a great host and found ways to accommodate my family's unique set of circumstances. This is a special place that my family highly recommends.

What a great cottage!
We had a wonderful two weeks at this delightful cottage. First of all, it is darling inside...fully equipped, beautifully decorated and so much nicer than most pet-friendly rentals. Gas fireplace provides heat; air conditioning removes it, and with climate change, we used both. However, most days were comfortable and breezy...just the way everyone loves Maine. The views of the lake from the deck are beautiful and so relaxing; I already miss my morning coffee there. The lake itself is large enough to provide a lot of interest kayaking, but small enough to heat up for comfortable swimming. And the location itself could not be better. Seclusion on the lake and all the shops and restaurants of busy Camden just 15 minutes away. The owners, who couldn't be nicer, are just ten minutes away and come by to take out the trash and refill the bird feeders. I had never been buzzed by hummingbirds before, but believe me, it's a pleasure you must experience. All in all, you can't go wrong with this cottage. It's a real winner.

Quiet lake house within close proximity to three great seaside towns with good restaurants and shopping. You get the best of both worlds with the woods and lakes as well as the ocean. The owners were great as we got lost coming in and they responded immediately. The house provided a great week of peaceful relaxation with kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Enjoyed watching and listening to the different birds. I highly recommend The Call of the Loon.
