About this house rental

Have easy access to Boston, Cambridge, and surrounding areas, but feel like you're living in the country. Our house backs on to conservation land and is surrounded by tall trees, bushes and flowers. You'll sleep peacefully and enjoy relaxing on the back deck surrounded by nature. Restaurants, cafes, and unique shops are just a five minute walk from the house.

Our home is situated in Newton Highlands, which is one of the 13 villages that makes up the city of Newton. Located just west of downtown Boston, Newton is considered a "streetcar suburb" because of its easy access by the Boston subway, known as the T. Filled with historic homes and beautiful gardens it is a safe and quiet area, considered to be one of the most desirable places to live in the Greater Boston area. Although our home is very quiet because it backs on to conservation land, within a five minute walk, you will find many restaurants, fast/casual food, coffee shops, taverns, grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, pharmacy, major national retail stores, and many other original/funky businesses that are unique to the area. A gourmet grocery store recently opened, just a few minutes from our house.

You will also be just a five minute walk to a new one mile walking/biking trail. It's a three minute drive both to the Charles river where you can rent canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards, and to a wonderful walking trail that encircles a small lake. The Newton Community Farm farm stand, where you can buy fresh organic produce, is just a mile down the road.

This used to be our full-time home, but now we only use it when we're in the Boston area. We have set it up to be comfortable for our own use, so you will find it to be a wonderful cross between a hotel room and a home. We provide everything you need to enjoy your stay, but the house is very uncluttered and peaceful. The closets and drawers in the bedrooms are empty, to make more room for your belongings, but the kitchen is fully equipped. There is wifi and Roku TV, and a wood stove for chilly nights. We also provide a selection of games and offer a "take one or leave one" library.

Guests have full access to our entire house except for the basement and attic spaces which we use for our own storage. The front door of our house is equipped with a keypad lock. We will send you the access code one day prior to check-in. There is tandem parking for up to three cars on our driveway. We have a brand-new queen size bed in the main bedroom. We are about to install a new double bed in the second bedroom which will be set up as a daybed for guests who would prefer to use that room as a sitting room/office. The bedrooms are small, but are quiet and get good airflow, and the rest of the house has a very open, almost loft-like feel. For families traveling with young children, we are happy to provide sheets and blankets that will allow you to use our sectional couch to make two more child-size beds. There is a surcharge for any guests beyond 4, and a maximum of 6 guests.

Please read and acknowledge our house rules when booking:
No Smoking anywhere on the premises, inside or outside.
No Pets.
Please remove your shoes at the door.
No Parties or Events. One or two daytime visitors is fine.
We have security cameras on the outside of the house (front only) for your protection and our peace of mind.

We enjoyed our stay at this Newton cottage. The wood burning fireplace is one of its best features and kept us very warm during the Winter. Also, the backyard looked lovely when it snowed a s the large windows allowed us to watch the birds, bunnies and other little creates!

Beautiful house
Beautiful house
We enjoyed the well-designed and extremely comfortable house. It was spotless and cozy, with many amenities thoughtfully provided by the hosts, including a notebook providing all sorts of useful info. The kitchen is superb, extremely well-equipped and the view of the backyard and conserved, woodsy land is a delight. Communication with the hosts was extremely smooth. We would most certainly stay here again.

Great stay for Boston trip!
Great stay for Boston trip!
This was our first trip to Boston. Our family of 4 found the cottage very comfortable. The front yard is filled with lovely flowers and the back deck is surrounded by lovely greenery. We traveled to Boston everyday on the T. We purchased a Charlie card for the week, which made it easy. We did walk to the Newton Highlands station once, but found at the end of the day and after walking so much in Boston, the 4-5.00 fee charged to park at the Newton Centre station was worth the money. Annabelle left a nice basket if goodies for us, had the house supplied with coffee, filters, sugar and all the condiments we needed. We didn’t eat there, but it is well stocked with all the cooking utensils and cookware needed. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning. Annabelle was quick to respond and checked on us via throughout the stay. It was a pleasure working with her.

Perfect little spot
Perfect little spot
This was a perfect spot for us to stay while our daughter was in Boston recovering from surgery. Close enough to get to the Boston Hospitals within 20 minutes - and yet you felt like you were in a retreat from the big city hustle and bustle. The house is spotless with every amenity we needed. Would definitely stay again - maybe next time for a fun Boston trip!
