About this farm stay rental
This farmhouse situated right on Cayuga Lake, was built in 1826 at Kidders Landing. The home was renovated to provide modern comforts. The house has 200 ft of gently sloping waterfront lawn and a new 100' dock with a swim ladder and a large platform for fishing and jumping into the water.
The house sleeps 8-10 comfortably and can be adapted to house more. In addition to being located on the lake and in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Country, The Painted Porch Cayuga Lake Vacation Rental is also about 200 yards from a fun little log cabin lodge/restaurant/bar. So, while the house is fully equipped for dining at home, you can also make a last minute change of plans and go next door for a glass of wine and a nice dinner!
There are two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs. Two of the rooms have alcoves with additional bunks, making a multi-family stay more comfortable. There are ceiling fans in all of the bedrooms as well as additional window fans and window air conditioners in all 4 bedrooms. This spring, we are adding air conditioning to the kitchen, living room and dining room.
On the three acres, there are big trees and big lawns, perfect for bird watching, croquet and badminton!
Between the house and the lake is a small two lane road, which has few cars and serves primarily as a walking, jogging and biking trail. On the bright side, it is also maintained throughout the winter! We also provide little yellow "crossing markers" to create a safer environment for crossing, in the event a car goes by. In the winter, this road is maintained by the county.
The lawn slopes down to shale beach. The dock is new and goes 100' out into the lake. Mid-simmer, the water is over 6' deep before you get to the large platform at the end of the dock. We have a large patio area with dining and lots of seating. We also have a fire ring at the edge of the beach.
There is a biergarten outside on the patio off the kitchen. Bar tables and chairs. It is fun to watch for cool birds and the local white deer from there while dinner is being prepared! We have also added a patio on the south side of the house, for another shady option on late afternoon.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: This simple farmhouse has NO TV but does have fast fiber-optic internet. You can have access to free wifi at O'Malley's also. Major sporting events are shown on the TV there. There are also 4-5 bars of phone service in the front of the house with ATT. Please also note. We have RING doorbells for security purposes; to protect the house and YOU, our guests. We also have a RING camera behind the house to monitor filling the bird feeders. We do not look at these unless our guests ask us to or if we are waiting for a package to be delivered. And we look when the house is not rented. We value YOUR PRIVACY.
A few more things: About half of our guests bring dogs. After each dog there is an extensive cleaning process. We do suggest (for the sake of cleanliness) that dogs don't go upstairs. If YOU bring a dog: The neighborhood is full of dog walkers. All of them are very respectful of the leash law in our area. They get really really frustrated if a dog is loose in our unfenced front yard and runs out to theirs. Not all of their dogs play well with others. :(

We had a wonderful stay at The Painted Porch. It’s a lovely farmhouse just across the road from lake Cayuga and the views and property are beautiful. The house is comfortable and attractive and the porch is perfect for lake gazing from the rocking chairs or porch swing and from the living room sofa when the weather’s not good.
We booked too late for our stay to be refundable and were surprised by some fees and house rules that were not listed before finalizing our reservation, particularly regarding dogs. That said, I don’t think it will be a problem anymore because Alison did not realize this and was going to remedy it right away. Alison was very easy and responsive to communicate with, which was a real plus.
Wishing anyone who stays here a wonderful time. It really is a lovely house and location in one of the most beautiful places I know of.

Great place to stay. Location was awesome. We were there for a wedding in the area. Family from all over the country were able to stop by for dinner or just a drink. Lake was amazing with plenty to do for all ages.

We booked this home over a year ago for commencement weekend at Ithaca College and could not have been happier! The home was lovingly curated and it fit together perfectly. From the beginning of the day where you could enjoy your coffee while seeing the sunrise on the eastern view porch over Lake Cayuga to the evening meals in the large dining room, it was an excellent experience. We loved the library, the games, and the multiple bird feeders. The host provided kayaks and standup paddle board for lake fun. Our party of 8 adults could get together in the main room or retreat to their large individual rooms, as needed. It is close enough to town (about a1/2 hour drive) to enjoy all that Ithaca has to offer, yet even closer to excellent vineyards, where, if you are as fortunate as our family, you could spend a perfect day! Alison was an excellent host—quick to communicate and ready to make your experience meet expectations!

We had a really nice time!
The dining room table was the only space that we could all sit together since the living room was small, and the kitchen space only had 4 chairs at a teeny table.
We wish we had known it was a dog house; we wondered why we saw so much dog hair around...and were sneezing so much.....and then as we packed up, we noticed the most dog hair-covered dog bed we had ever seen right beneath our bed. YUCK!

Stayed here for 4 nights with extended families. Alison was great about communicating. Property was bigger than it appears in pictures. Great location for various finger lake activities. Definitely recommend.

We 7 old friends rendezvousing for a few days. The house worked well for cooking and hanging out together, and was a good launchpad for visiting and hiking in the Finger Lakes area. Despite the less than perfect weather, we managed to catch some nice moments on the dock.

The house was clean, well-equipped and in a fantastic location. You could eat a meal on the porch, just sit and take pictures of blue herons or belted kingfishers, or walk along the beautiful lake front drive. We were there for our 33rd anniversary, dined several nights in nearby Trumansburg and would strongly consider returning to the Painted Porch lake house!!

Fun week with family on Cayuga lake. Spacious lot and house. The 2 large bedrooms upstairs with the large bathroom between worked well for our 2 families with small children. Nice front porch overlooking the lake and big backyard. Loads of toys and games for kids. Short drives to hikes and other activities. Cooked at home except for pizza from Pat’s on our last night. Kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Large dining room table for 8-10 people. Nice area for sitting outside and also down by the dock. The lake is across a road which is not busy but requires all the usual precautions for kids and pets. Dock is well built sand wider than most with a swim ladder. Water quality is very good. Bottom is rocks/pebbles so water shoes are needed. Almost no zebra mussels but some small fragments of snail shells.Excellent fishing off the dock. ( small perch, sunfish, smallmouth, and gobies.) Worms were the best bait. Would return
again in the future.

We had an amazing time! The house had every amenity including a well stocked kitchen. Alison was attentive and answered all of our questions promptly. The inside is beautiful with antique hardwoods. The birds are fun to watch in the kitchen, and we spent hours at the big living room table playing cards, talking in the family room or out on the quaint porch overlooking the lake. We rented a boat and it was great; very little boat traffic. I swam each day. The seaweed is thick near the dock but if you swim out it is clear and the water seems clean. We are thinking of vacationing again as a family and if we do we will definitely go back to the farmhouse. (so glad no TV!)

Wonderful home in an extraordinary part of the world!! Very well maintained and well-equipped. Loved the front porch with the porch swing, looking out on the gorgeous lake and the walkers. Kids loved the paddle boards and kayaks. Took lovely walks and bike rides along the lakeside road - just a perfect spot to relax, get some exercise and even local wine! Somehow missed that there was no dishwasher but it wasn't an issue as everyone pitched in. Enjoyed communicating with Alison who was super helpful. Thank you for a vacation we'll remember for many years.

Just arrived home and wish we could go back. Very relaxing stay despite having 5 small children and no tv. The kids loved the lake. The adults loved the porch once the kids were asleep. Allison did a beautiful job decorating the house and made us feel very comfortable. The location is great. We took many day trips and two restaurants are practically next door.

We had the best trip. The house was perfect for a girl's trip .. 6 of us. We loved our long mornings on the front porch sipping coffee, to making dinners together in the kitchen, to game nights. The house is so charming and conveniently located fo Ithaca, cool waterfalls, and wineries. Another bonus was being 2 houses down from a really cute restaurant, Omalleys, with a great menu. We definitely can't recommend staying at this house enough!

Stayed at the house for a long weekend to celebrate our son's graduation from Ithaca College with 9 family members. House was large enough to spread out and very well equipped to host a celebration in his honor. Easy access to the town via route 89. Beautiful views of the lake and the porch is great size to relax and watch the sunrise. Many winery's located close by. O'Malley's wasn't open for the season yet. We highly recommend and would definitely go back for a full week.

This property was everything we expected and more. Well furnished and equipped with a view of Cayuga Lake that was fantastic. Alison is one of the most prompt and helpful hosts we have worked with. We hope to be back - maybe when the weather is more conducive for water sports.

We had the best time staying in this beautiful lake house. The home was clean and very roomy. The location is perfect and scenery in the Fall is to die for. I loved watching the sunrise on the dock and enjoyed our walks through the tree lined streets. Our host communicated very well and was very pleasant. We had the best time!

Can’t thank Allison enough!

We had a great time at the Painted Porch lakehouse by Cayuga Lake. The house was lovely, big enough for our group of 3 families and my single brother, and functioned well. We loved the location with its own private dock to Cayuga Lake. Many in our group loved taking the green kayak out on the lake. We were nervous with our after Labor Day September trip that the lake water would be too cold, but it was fine and we had a couple of fun swim days. The property and lawn were well kept and beautfiul. The kids enjoyed running around on the grass and we ate a few meals sitting outside on the lawn. We enjoyed a few day trips to local sites like Taughannock Falls and Treman state park. Great property and vacation for us.

Our Family Historical Trip Summer 2022
Grandpa grew up in Trumansburg and lives in Phoenix, AZ now. Needed time to visit with relatives and tell those growing up stories to grandkids. Reserving lake house easy. Tons of info provided about the house and the few ques we had were answered quickly. Our first night was dinner at O'Malleys; fun and good food. Our teens LOVED fishing off the house dock, paddle boards, kayack or just swimming. The house is spacious so each family could have alone time as well as together time. We felt comfortable inviting relatives over for visits.. We spent most of our time on the awesome
Porch visiting or snoozing. We hated to leave at weeks end and wouldn't hesitate to rent again.

Great house, yard, and location. Our dogs and 2-1/2 yr old grandson especially liked the large back yard, front porch, and easy lake access. We made good use of the large, well supplied kitchen, the washer and dryer, living room, and the large bedrooms. The AC was appreciated on the one really hot day we had and also helped when it was muggy outside. A dishwasher would have made things even more wonderful, but we coped.

Wish the weather was better during our stay but we had a great time. We were afraid to use the oven. It looked like someone sprayed it to clean it and forgot to wipe it out. It was nasty. So we heated our food in microwave.

The house is adorable with great views of the lake. Sitting out on the porch in the morning was great. Alison responded so quickly when messaged and had great recommendations for restaurants and activities during our stay.

Amazing get-away!
We could not have been happier with this house for an October get-away. It was perfect! The location was fantastic, on a quiet road right on Cayuga Lake. Gorgeous views! The kids could not get enough of exploring the shoreline; I can't even imagine how much fun it would be in the summer. There is so much to do, only a short drive away (wineries, breweries, cider houses, hiking, restaurants, etc). Over the 4 days we were here, it felt like we barely scratched the surface.
The house itself had so much charm. Loved spending time on the front porch! The bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious. In the mornings, we hung out in the kitchen watching all different kinds of birds have breakfast while we did the same. And in the evening, we made s'mores in the lakeside fire pit. We never had any problems with internet access.
Allison was incredibly responsive and accommodating whenever we had a question leading up to and during our trip. I would also add that the guidebook provided by the owners is incredibly informative and helpful—there's a lot of great content in there, and its well worth taking a few minutes on your first day to review their suggestions and recommendations.
We forged a lot of great memories here, and I would highly recommend this house. You will not be disappointed!
