About this house rental
OUR BEACH COTTAGE 'Helen's Hideaway' is a wonderful setting for a family or friends vacation. This is a simple and well-maintained beach cottage, located right on Tomales Bay. Helen's is our family cottage that we enjoy sharing for you.
WE HAVE A NEW DOCK -- rebuilt and ready for fishing or just contemplating the beauty of the bay!
OUR FRONT GARDEN IS SURROUNDED BY A SECURE FENCE -- a lovely and private place to read the morning newspaper or surf the web. A gas grill invites you to barbecue local fish, fresh veggies from Point Reyes or a good local piece of meat.
OUR INTERNET ACCESS IS EXCELLENT AND OUR FLAT SCREEN TV with Sony Entertainment Network, Netflix and connection for your laptop (pc) can connect you to the outer world.
The center of this cottage is a large living room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Tomales Bay. You can experience the Bay from anywhere on the first floor. It's a great place to watch wildlife while you have an intimate or family meal, read a novel in front of the fire, or just sit and relax.
The house has a master bedroom downstairs with an adjoining bathroom with shower. Upstairs has 2 bedroom, one with a queen size bed and one with twin beds. There is a bathroom on the second floor, with a tub and overhead shower.
The house is surrounded by a deck and has a dock that reaches out into the bay. It's a perfect place to watch the sunset, sip a glass of wine and just enjoy the bliss of beautiful Tomales Bay.
The house is walking distance to the Tony's Seafood Restaurant, The Marshall Store Restaurant, and Hog Island Oysters. Enjoy day trips to Point Reyes Seashore, the Russian River, local wineries, whale watching, etc. We are very well located to take advantage of all the West Marin has to offer!
If you are not up for driving around, its a great place to sit in front of a roaring fire with friends and loved ones. We have a collection of old DVD and videos and a paperback library. If you like to fish, you can throw a line out from the deck or the pier. Digging clams under the house is another afternoon activity. Charcoal barbecue available to cook your catch! Bring briquettes.
This is not an overly elegant house, but a comfortable, family-friendly home situated in the midst of spectacular beauty. If you are looking for "hotel perfect" this is not the house for you. We welcome you to share our family space and to live in it as though it were your own home.
Check out www.pointreyes.org for great local beaches, hikes, kayaking, horseback riding, dining, art studios and oysters!

This home was right over the water. We fished, ate oysters and mussels. The house is well maintained and it was a surprise how well stocked the pantry and household necessities were. We will be back as soon as we can.

It was peaceful, quiet and so nice to stare out at the water.

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary. Our goal was to 'get away from it all' and 'eat lots of seafood'. We did just that! The house was perfect! Comfy couches and bed and that view never gets old! I highly recommend Hog Island, Tony's Seafood and Nick's Cove for food. If you like hiking, The Tule Elk Trail is absolutely beautiful and full of wildlife.

Great house for couple and friends. Well-stocked
Host available and helpful. This is our third time in the Tomales/Bay/ Marshall area and it is a perfect getaway. We wanted to stay longer.

Although I was working at a camp (Walker Creek Music Camp) for much of my stay, each night and morning I got to enjoy a comfortable, clean place with anything I needed. The bed I slept in was unexpectedly comfortable. I have to say I was a little sad to leave! I plan on being back though.

It was such a treat to stay in one of the iconic over-the-water homes in Marshall. A magical experience that you can’t find elsewhere! Meg, the property manager, fulfilled all of our needs. Communication was seemless! And the huge decks and dock highlighted the unique beauty of Tomales Bay!

The four of us celebrated a special occasion by renting this wonderful property on the water in Marshall. We enjoyed all the beautiful local scenery and fantastic variety of restaurant choices. We had a minor issue we needed help with and resolved it quickly with the property manager. Looking forward to staying here again

What a nice relaxing weekend.
Views of the water, marine life and sunset were amazing.
House was small but perfect for us.
Decor was old but very clean and comfortable.
Dock and back porch over the water were great for the kids to crab and fish.
There are no grocery stores in town and ask about pots and pans as large ones were not available for large dinners.
Overall an amazing and relaxing stay and amazing amazing views. We will definitely be back.

If you're looking for a relaxing weekend getaway, this is the location for you. The stay is not going to be fancy, but the views and cozy cottage are going to soothe your soul. Each morning drinking, french pressed coffee on the deck was just what we needed. Thank you for sharing your property with us!

This was our second stay at Helen's Hideaway and it was every bit as magical as our first. I went for two weeks and my five children came at various times for short stays. We played games, fished off the dock, ate the amazing local oysters and fish often. We will come next year, I hope.

Can’t beat this location
Marshall is my happy place. Tomales Bay is so beautiful. You can’t beat the view and tranquillity from Helen’s Hideaway. We brought our kayak and crabbed and fished and relaxed. The house has everything you need and would love to come back. We already miss it and all the great seafood nearby!

Tranquil Oasis!
This place was absolutely charming! Upon arriving, the directions were clear and easy to access the lockbox. The bedrooms are decently sized, kitchen was very cute with all the essentials and the living space was comfortable and inviting. We woke to the sounds of the bay every morning and it was so peaceful as we enjoyed morning coffees with a dash of Swiss Miss on the pier. Definitely stay here if you can!

Absolutely beautiful
This was such a perfect get away, the house was so nice and comfortable, everything we could have asked for, the view from inside and the deck were great, private and so quiet, we didn’t want to leave. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Lovely home
A very comfortable home in lovely location. Well-equipped for a short or long stay. Wheelchair accessibility was not great, especially for electric or oversized chair.

Fantastic time
What a view. Really enjoyed morning coffee on the dock. Watching the jelly fish float by. We also saw a sting ray and otters. Lot of option with all the local seafood restaurants close by.

Fun on the Bay
The location of this house is beyond fantastic! The decks around the house are well fenced and have very comfortable furniture. We saw halibut swimming past the pier. Inside was also comfortable. There is a 180* view from the living room and the upstairs balcony. It is like being on a boat without the rocking. The kitchen is fully equipped with all necessary pots and pans as well as numerous dishes. Finding the Wagner Ware in a drawer was a fun discovery. The teens loved the availability of both fishing and the internet. Overall it was a great experience for all, aged 13 to 77 and a 16 year old puppy.

Bay views, Sun and rustic charm
Family, views and a well maintained property. What more can you ask for. We stayed for 2 nights and had it not been booked we were prepared to extend our stay. Good place to laze and many nearby spots to explore.

Hiking and birding in Oysterville, USA
We wanted to stay local and explore west Marin, watch the tides, the skies and the evening stars. And Oh my, the local cuisine, Oysters. Helens Hideaway was a ferfect.

Great overall
One small issue. The gas grill needs to be replaced. It works very poorly. Hot spots and cold spots. It's almost unusable.
Otherwise, great!

Incredible views!
We had a fantastic time staying at this property! The home is very comfortable with 3 huge picture windows overlooking Tomales Bay and across to Inverness & Tomales Point. The views changed throughout the day as the lighting changed and fog rolled in and out. We were there 4 days and only had fog one day. The deck is ginormous and hearing the water lapping underneath was SO relaxing. The little fenced in yard, made it wonderful for the poochie too! Oysters within walking distance was amazing and the little town of Point Reyes Station is about 7 minutes away - adorable! Loved ii! Didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back. Thank you!!!

Perfect spot for fishing and enjoying sunsets
Can’t beat the sunsets and sunrises from this cabin. It’s older, but the wrap around deck and location make up for it. Thank you for letting us stay. :)

Comments and Suggestions
We love the view. However, The dishes were put away dirty. Kitchen floor wasn’t clean. More fire starter and some kindling is needed. Down stairs bath sink - hot and cold water faucets reversed. A 10 minute fix. The house needs tidying up. Lots of tchotchkes and useless clutter. Missing blind on one of the picture windows.
