About this cottage rental
Please take note that our cottage is on 2 private islands. There is one 3 bedroom main cottage and 2 smaller sleeping cabins. The main building is open 3 seasons, however the 2 sleeping out buildings are only in use July and August. As such in spring (May-June) and fall (Sept-Oct) our maximum occupancy is 8 people.
Also in order to rent our cottage at least one person in your group must have a valid boating license (PCOC.) This person must be capable of driving a small outboard boat. A copy of this PCOC must be provided before confirming the rental. There is no taxi service to deliver you to our islands.
The main cottage was built in 2010, open, airy, close to water on all sides. You feel like you are on a boat from all rooms. Many large mature trees and wildlife. Cottage beautifully appointed with: antiques, pine interior, art, stained glass, open cottagey-kitchen, large open living/dining, awesome for entertaining.
Bedrooms are large, beds are good quality, linens and towels provided, kitchen is fully stocked, spices provided. Outdoor seating for sun-downers, charcoal and propane BBQs. Large outdoor picnic table where most dinners are eaten. A swing and a hammock.
Privacy galore. Your pets are welcome. Breezy in evenings but out of the wind and out of the boat traffic, few bugs in summer.
Lots of boat docking. Comes with one canoe. Motor boats can be rented from Kawartha Park Marina or Peel Marine. Islands are fairly level and low to the water, thus easy for older guests or any challenged at walking, yet I would not say wheel chair accessible.
A wood stove has been installed in the living room and the cottage is fully insulated, so it is suitable for shoulder season rental. Fishermen, writers, readers, poet and those wishing the quieter side of cottage country are all welcome!
Swimming is good and deep off the north island dock.
Bunkie on north island is 100 yrs old and very original, duck when you enter the door! King bed there. There is no bathroom on this island.
Bunkie on main island has queen bed, close to main cottage.
Main building is 1800 sq ft, with 3 huge bedrooms. The master BR has king bed and 2 piece ensuite, bedroom #2 has a queen and 2 twins. bedroom #3 has kid quality bunk beds plus a twin. Building is insulated, all bedrooms have ceiling fans, it remains cool on hot days.
Bathroom down has claw foot tub and hand held shower (not a stand up shower) and decorated with Turkish tiles. There is an outside shower.
Very close to heritage sites and buildings of Association of Stony Lake Cottagers. During July and August only, this includes: Juniper Island Store (quick meals, penny candy, ice creams, drinks etc,) Stony Lake Yacht Club (junior sailing program, tennis courts, racing on weekends,) a pavillion (for movies and square dancing weekly,) swimming lessons, canoeing lessons, masquerade and historic recently rebuilt government dock with a pagoda that goes back to steam boats and long dresses. It just goes on and on. Really must be seen to be believed.
Boat access only. Parking for one car is provided with the rental at Dunford's Landing.
Additional cars are charged $10/day and payable in cash to landing owners. There is also a boat launch for a small cash fee. Access point is best from Dunford's Landing. There is a washing machine. There is no dishwasher. There is wifi, at no added cost. Cell phones work here. there is no landline anymore.

Great Property for our Family to wind down after long summer - cottage is very open with room enough for our Family (Adult Children) - property was exactly as described - easy to get to from mainland - very clean - all features required of a great stay. Pam was an excellent host who communicated all the way through rental with details and assistance to make our week most enjoyable!

Lovely experience for friends get-together
The place is dreamy! The main cottage is beautifully decorated and had nice furniture. The master bedroom is really nice! The kitchen is well equipped. The dishwashing was a bit stressful because we wanted to ensure we don't clog the drain and keep the sink very clean.
Overall, it was a lovely stay and I would like to go back when the weather is nice.

Relaxing with family
Pam's property is very well looked after and we had no issues whilst there. The small tin boat with 15hp outboard worked flawlessly and would be more that enough for 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children to get to a few places on the lake for ice creams or lunch out at Hobarts light house, McCracken's landing.
The beds are comfy and kitchen well stocked for a cottage. Great swimming off the small attached island.
We would absolutely recommend a visit and it was worth the price.
Thank you Pam, Bruce and Tulah

Unique and relaxing experience!
What an amazing and special place! We booked a stay for three nights to catch up with some family that we have not seen for too long and this place was perfect. The information provided by the owner made it easy to plan our trip and we didn't have any issues getting to the island or immediately being able to relax once we arrived. Luckily, we had nice weather so we were able to paddle, fish, and swim all day which this place is set up perfectly for. The main floor of the cottage was a beautiful place to socialize and relax, and all the bedrooms were comfortable. I am already thinking about planning another trip.

A good experience, but with a few issues.
Pros
The view: Upon arriving at the location, you immediately noticed the beautiful view off of the dock. The island is very private and quiet as advertised. The dock is maintained very well and the main building has a cozy all-wood interior. The fishing was very good off the side of the main dock and the sunset was spectacular!
Interior: The interior of the main building is very welcoming and comfy. The kitchen has many utensils and cookware to choose from, which was great as we did lots of cooking. The fridge, oven and other appliances also worked very well.
Cons:
Washing dishes: As we were told, the plumbing system is very delicate, so we should be extremely cautious when washing the dishes. As it cannot take any fat or even tiny bits of food, we had to wipe dirty dishes before washing and drying to avoid clogging the drain. The water pressure was also very low, so we ended up spending a significant amount of time washing dishes each night. Something to keep in mind, especially with a larger group of travelers.
The bugs: Unfortunately, there were a lot of bugs at night – everything but black flies. As a result, we were forced to stay indoors as soon as the sun went down each night. I’m sure this will be less of an issue later in the Summer season.
The heat: On the weekend we went, it was very hot and stuffy in the bedrooms. The two floor fans that we found were both broken. If we had one in each room, I think it would be much more comfortable at night. Thankfully, the living room had a great breeze from the big windows surrounding the seating area.
Overall, we had some fun over the weekend. Thanks, Pam.

Island Getaway
Great spot for a family reunion. We had fun fishing, swimming, boating, enjoyed lunches outside, dinners inside, and wine near the fireplace. Everything was well thought out and had a cozy/homey feel about it. Pam was informative and cooperative (connected us with a neighbor who helped us with transportation to the island).

Perfect end to the Summer
This property was recommended by a friend and I am so glad we decided to give it a try. We had mesmerizing sunrises and sunsets from the property and there are tons of huge windows so you can see and hear the waterfrom every room!
The bedrooms are large, the living spaces have lots of comfy seating and a big dining table and the kitchen had everything we needed. I enjoyed an outdoor shower every day.
The property itself is beautiful with outdoor spaces around the cottage (Muskoka chairs , outdoor propane fire pit, large picnic table) the give views of the islands and Canadian Shield landscape. And there’s another island! What a treat to wander over the old wooden bridge to get some sun and swim on the other side! There is a large dock with more Muskoka chairs on the other island with a completely different (and gorgeous) view up the lake. I snuck away to meditate on the pink granite rock in the mornings! Solitude and serenity!
If you have a big group and need space for many, or just want to escape for a while I can’t recommend it more highly!

Perfect Escape
We loved our trip. Wonderful house with amazing views of the water from any place you sit or sleep. Lots of time was spent soaking up the sun on the swimming dock, and reconnecting with family in the big open living area. And we enjoyed watching the beaver munch on water lilies at supper every day!

Spectacular Island (s) getaway
Thanks to Pam and family for sharing their beautiful home with our family. Truly an escape and time and place to reconnect and unplug! Not many cottages like this anywhere....perfect sunrises and sunsets, and close to Landing for mainland access.

Fantastic Stay......Again!
We had another fantastic stay at Grape Island. The location is terrific- quiet bay but close enough to the main channel on Stoney for easy access. Great swimming and tons of space in the cottage and bunkies. Pam was a terrific host, very welcoming and responsive to any questions. We will be back for sure.

Incredible privacy!
We absolutely loved our stay! The property is perfect. The dock for the boats was awesome, layout was great. Owner was great to work with also...Only a few things I could pick out to make it 10/10! The inside shower(well just a tub) needs a surround or standard standup shower, outside shower was great if u are willing to go outside. And the parking inland was a surprise cost to use at about 160$ US. But we had three vehicles with boats so I totally understand but for parking in a high grass field I feel it was pricey.. believe me I’m being picky to even find those minor things! I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful beautiful retreat!!! Loved it

Best Turkey Dinner ever.
My family and I ( eleven of us ) spent Thanksgiving weekend at Pam's cottage. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. This is a beautiful cottage plus an awesome rustic cottage, on 2 islands on a gorgeous lake. If we had better weather, I would think that I was in heaven. Family had a great time and the most memorable Thanksgiving weekend. Pam was great communicating and getting us all the details etc about getting to, and what to do on the island. Looking forward to coming back again someday.

What an amazing place.
My family and i just spent a week on Grape Island - Stony Lake Ontario, and the property exceeded our every expectation. The cottage is beautiful, open and has windows everywhere. Windows on top of windows and a lake view out of every single one. I seemed to relax the moment we stepped foot there. My son stayed in the 100 year old log cabin on the second island (attached by a footbridge) and he loved it! I would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for the perfect getaway to a private island. I can't wait to return. I would like to thank the property owner for sharing this very intimate family space with us.

Quiet, peaceful getaway....!
We spent Thanksgiving long weekend at Pam's cottage and it was exactly what we were looking for - quiet, peaceful, beautiful fall colours and sunsets. We took our Newfoundland dog who also loved every minute of it. Pam was fantastic and ensured we were all set before arriving at the cottage. The cottage is spacious, clean, well-maintained and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. And you really are on your own little island! We really needed time away from our busy schedules and unplug from everything (including the TV, internet and the hustle-bustle of city living) - this was the perfect getaway for us. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the beauty of the Kawarthas in a beautiful and relaxing setting!

Peace and quiet
Pam,
We want to thank you for the beautiful vacation home. We had such a wonderful relaxing time.
The dogs loved trying to catch the frogs. Everybody enjoyed the fishing from all points on the islands.
Stoney Lake is so beautiful and so is you property. Thank you for everything we had a great time.

Interesting island experience!
We had a nice stay at this cottage - it is a charming place and an interesting place to stay on two little islands joined by a neat footbridge. We found the lake and scenery beautiful (along with the sunsets!). The kitchen had everything we needed and the hostess was absolutely amazing about being in touch well in advance with all the information we had to know about the cottage itself. We certainly felt there was thought put into ensuring our stay was pleasant.
There are lots of other cottages on the lake so it doesn't feel like you're a complete castaway and it is interesting to boat around to see island life out on Stoney Lake. Definitely an experience!

Lovely destination
We recently stayed on Grape Island for a week with our baby boy & small dog. The cottage is so beautiful and cozy and perfect location for a family week away. The living and dining area are very well set up for a large group or family and the kitchen is well stocked with anything you could need. The bedrooms are very comfortable. The views over the lake are stunning especially at sunrise & sunset. We look forward to going back again soon.

The perfect retreat destination!
We loved our weekend at Stoney Lake cottage! It was to wonderful place to get away to with our adult kids. Everything worked out as Pam suggested/organized for us. The main cottage was very comfortable and a perfect size for the bunch of us to hang out in, with spectacular views of the lake on all sides. The bunkies were great quieter places to escape to. We experienced a full range of autumn weather and the lake was the perfect size to view that from and to explore--if a bit tricky to navigate in spots! As a destination, Stoney Lake was an easy drive but its island location made it an adventure and a secluded escape. Perfect! We hope to come back sometime soon.
