Charming home with distinct and authentic vibe of FLW. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, lots of space to sit and chat. The only thing standing in the way of a 5-star rating is the lack of driveway and the noise of local traffic, otherwise a very special stay in Frank Lloyd Wright home.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this charming house. The home has been restored to be consistent with Frank Lloyd Wright's vision of architecture. You really get the experience of living in a FLLW designed home while still having enough amenities for a comfortable stay. There wasn't anything that we needed during our stay that wasn't provided. Joan was a great host and very responsive.

Really loved the house. Overall, we had a fantastic time. We are all big fans of FLW and were thrilled to be able to stay in one of his designs. Lots of delicious food and beer to sample and tons to do in downtown Milwaukee (Domes, Pabst Mansion house tour, Art Museum, Harley Davidson Museum, scenic river walk). Didn't love the neighborhood, was hoping that we could walk more places, but that wasn't the case. You will need to have a vehicle if you stay at this location.
Point of contact with the property manager was initially difficult, it didn't appear as though she was receiving the messages I was sending through VRBO but that was sorted out and she was very communicative after arrival and through departure even notifying me that a pair of earrings had been left behind and mailing them to my sister.
Couple drawbacks included the downstairs bathroom with a door that didn't fully close or latch. We invented a policy that if the trashcan was in front of the door, it was occupied. Not ideal. The washer worked fine, but we had issues keeping the dryer running which may have been our fault but resulted in air drying clothing. Again, not a huge issue, but inconvenient. There were also numerous cobwebs but overall the house was very clean. Tons of towels which was great.

The home is unique and fun to stay in. It has a lot of character and interesting design. I recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed the works of Frank Lloyd Wright or wants to learn more about him. Experiences like this are few and far in between.

Once in a lifetime opportunity to stay in a historic property designed by one of the world’s greatest architects. Very roomy, several sleeping areas, 2 1/2 bathrooms and a responsive, accessible host. Loved it.
4.8
The property is as advertised and was what we expected. Our stay was a little wonky, as we arrived right after there had been a significant roof drain issue that caused what appeared to be pretty serious water damage to ceilings and walls in a couple of rooms. The owners Joan and Steve clearly had been working frantically to get things habitable for our stay. They made us feel very welcome and things in the house worked fine, but in hindsight I wonder whether the delay to remediation caused by our stay was the best thing for the house in the long term. I hope everything works out okay because it is a very nice property and they are excellent hosts!

I have ALWAYS wanted to stay in a Frank Lloyd Wright house!
What a gorgeous home!
Joan was very accommodating.
We were there for a family wedding. Close to airport, close to downtown.
Loved it.

We loved our stay. It was a beautiful home. It is lovely to be wrapped in the design of beauty during a stay.

Wonderful home for my sisters and I to gather and visit. Perfect dining area to sit and chat. Beds were comfortable. Shower was awesome. Glad we rented this home for our visit.

We truly enjoyed our stay here. There was plenty of space for 6 adults. The kitchen was well modernized and stocked with many common tools. Many of the historic features of the home have been preserved.

Wonderful host, beautiful home with historic significance. We loved the relaxing atmosphere and comfort of the architecture and furniture. Short walk to a great restaurant made our evening even more enjoyable. We enjoyed entertaining a few couples in the spacious kitchen and the next day took short Uber rides exploring Milwaukee. Great location and experience. Our host was attentive, kind and helpful throughout! Thank you!!!

We were a group of 4 friends visiting Milwaukee. The house was historical and very interesting. The location was very convenient for sightseeing.

Always wanted to stay in a real FLW...dream came true! Best part was the light coming through the windows in the morning and the fall leaves, like living inside a photograph.

Nestled in a bustling Milwaukee neighborhood, this home is one of the 6 Frank Lloyd Wright Burnham block treasures from American System-Built between 1912-1916. The homeowners have made an adaptive reuse home transforming the original 2-family home into a single family dwelling that accommodates up to 9 people. While many FLW homes are restored and offer the ability to tour and imagine (like the neighboring Burnham block homes), being able to dwell within and experience the home at all times of the day and night allows a new level of appreciation for the detail and vision of FLW. The windows make the spaces with the changing light quality throughout the day. The creaks and sounds of the house with its original maple floors would’ve been much appreciated by any parent as a natural alert to teens hoping to sneak out.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Highly recommend taking the tour next door as well to see what the original layout was like.
Joan was an extremely responsive host even with our very late night arrival and early morning departure. The location is convenient—within a 15 min drive from almost everything. The parking is a bit confusing but Joan did a great job of explaining it and helped with getting the required street parking permits. For those who love architecture, this is a must. Highly recommend this unique experience.

The home was very interesting and had great architecture. Checking in was a little unorthodox but overall the trip was fantastic and we had a great time. We plan to go back soon.

My siblings and I had a great stay at the Frank Lloyd Wright home. It was the perfect balance between authenticity and modern comforts with every amenity at hand. We’d definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful stay in this Frank Lloyd Wright house. It was full of authentic features. Fortunately, the kitchen was modern! We would certainly stay again and will encourage our friends to head to Milwaukee.

This property was clean and as described in the listing. An amazing house!

Host was easy to communicate with and responded quickly. Also worked with me so our stay fit our needs. Thank you

We had an enjoyable stay at the property. There was a great Mexican restaurant within two blocks. Everything we needed was included. The only real issue for use there was only one small shower. There was a large soaking tub in the main bathroom.

A very historical stay. It was a great experience for My Family. Would highly recommend for those who appreciate Art history

Over the years, we’d visited a few Frank Lloyd Wright buildings - Wisconsin, MInnesota, Alabama and South Carolina. When we stumbled upon this listing in VRBO, it was an easy decision to stay!
The house is lovely. “Living” in the space- rather than passing thru- is certainly the next level experience.
Also enjoyed the lively neighborhood!
Definitely worth the visit and the adventure!

We were excited to stay in this historic home. It did not disappoint.

Living in a Frank Lloyd Wright house and touring 19th Century buildings designed by our great great grandfather was a dream come true ……. Like a timemachine. A perfect restoration.
Building restoration in Milwaukee is a high art.

We had a wonderful stay in an incredibly beautiful historic home. Surprisingly comfortable considering the home is over 100 years old. It was nice to have the bedrooms upstairs and separated from the living spaces downstairs. The wood work and detailing is incredibly beautiful. Will stay again the next time we are in Milwaukee.

Beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright home... We were here for concert weekend and enjoyed our stay... The home is beautiful. We did not park but took Uber/Lyft everywhere. The beds are comfortable and the shower hot.. although the shower head is low ( I am over six feet tall.)& Shower head was at my chest. There is coffee maker but no Keurig. This is maybe something to consider (?) . Also the acquisition for the home key was interesting but the owner was quite helpful in helping us ascertain this . We would have loved a key code entrance lock ( just a thought 😉). The neighborhood is okay. However for the house and our needs it was perfect. Thanks for allowing us to stay .

A marvelous Wright home, in a modest Prairie style--restrained, elegant, lovely. Also, quite spacious. It could easily accommodate a very large group. (There were just two of us, though.) We spent two days and greatly enjoyed just ordering meals delivered and watching TV and reading and enjoying the space. The neighborhood isn't the greatest--I guess that's Milwaukee--but if you're going to see Johnson Wax and other Wright sites in the area, it's a cool experience to stay in one of his houses!

Always wanted to see a Frank Lloyd Wright house up close. It did not disappoint

Happily, we were able to check this off our bucket list. Loved the large bedroom and the stairway skylight. It was very interesting living in a home the way Wright designed it. Our hosts, Joan & Steve, were gracious and helpful.

Fantastic. Loved staying in a little bit of architectural history. Good location. Very clean and as advertised. Joan was very helpful and responsive

Loved the chance to stay in the wright home! Enjoyed a themed family get together that was focused on FLW architecture and the amazing Grohmann museum. Comfortable and convenient, great communication. Would stay again.

Our group of FLW home enthusiasts made our 9th stop at the Burnham Block home. We are on a quest to stay in every FLW home that allows overnight stays for the public. This home was well cared for and had all the amenities we needed. Joan was a great host to make sure we were all set for our stay. We really appreciated all the furnishings tied to the theme of FLW. This home is one of several FLW homes built as part of the American Systems Built project. We also took the tour offered by the Burnham Block organization that is slowly renovating each one of them. Highly recommend this home.

This is a great place to host a 4 year old’s birthday and a 34 yo birthday. Very comfortable surroundings. Great cooking kitchen. Excellent owners
4.8
Beautiful, historic Frank Lloyd Wright home. Spacious, comfortable beds, very well maintained and excellent hostess, Joan. Parking requires adherence to MKE odd/even rules; be aware of them, but not difficult to follow.
4.8
We loved this place. It was wonderful staying in an architecturally interesting house—even the kids appreciated it, which was a bit unexpected. I never quite “got” why people are so obsessed with Frank Lloyd Wright but this house made me see the light. It’s very liveable—not architecture for architecture’s sake.
I thought the neighborhood was cute—it didn’t seem scary, as one reviewer mentioned, though it was below zero so we didn’t walk around much. We found a great restaurant nearby—Vientiane.
4.8
This was a great find when searching for a place to call home for a few days. We took so many pictures of the home and location. There is plenty to see, it is just like living in a museum. Thanks for a great experience!

This is a beautiful home, full of Frank Lloyd Wright features. Combined with lovely furnishings and a spacious kitchen, you will have a wonderful place to host family and friends. (Note that the quoted price is for just 2 people, so if your party is larger, you’ll pay $50 more per night per person.) The host was very responsive and flexible. We highly recommend this property!
