Welcome to Sugar Beach #228. I invite you to enjoy one of the world's finest beaches - Sugar Beach, with its 5 miles of golden soft sand, warm water and beautiful sunsets. This direct oceanfront condominium has been completely updated with all of the high end finishes you deserve for your Maui vacation.
When you open the front door you are greeted to a breathtaking and endless ocean view. Open the wall to wall sliding glass doors, step onto your private lanai and you are captivated by the soothing sound of the waves and the gorgeous sandy beach that is just feet from the tips of your barefoot toes. This is truly everything you dreamed Maui to be.
Sugar Beach #228 has been completely updated. In the kitchen you will find beautiful bamboo cabinets and gorgeous granite countertops, including a large eat-at island. There's lots of cookware and bakeware, mixing bowls and food storage containers, a coffee pot, toaster and a powerful blender for making perfect tropical smoothies.
In the bathroom there is a full-sized tiled shower with pebbled flooring. I also provide a hair dryer (so you have more room in your suitcase for taking home macadamia nuts!) and I make sure you have soap, shampoo and other essentials to get you started.
The lanai and the unit are covered throughout with 18 inch porcelain tiles. Cool on your feet and it won't leave you wondering what the last guy left behind in the carpet you've been walking on with your bare feet!
Sugar Beach #228 is a direct oceanfront unit located on the second floor. When you are inside you feel like you are sitting directly on the ocean. The second floor is ideal because you have the option of just going up and down one flight of stairs if you don't want to wait for an elevator. My husband and I just loved this condo and the property amenities, like the pool and hot tub. We were also impressed with how well the condo and overall property are maintained. The view from the lanai was fantastic, perfect for morning coffee and a sunset drink. The location is perfect for exploring the island. Communication with Karen was a delight - she was responsive, helpful, and answered a lot of our questions before we could even ask. We'll definitely keep this lovely condo in mind for future visits to Maui!

Not enough flattering words exist to adequately describe the apartment and service Karen provided my wife and I during our two week stay in Maui. This was, hands down, one of the top vacations of our lives, and owe so much of it to Karen's incredibly well-appointed home-away-from-home. The bed is so comfortable. The shower has great water pressure. And, of course, the sunset view from the lanai is stunning. The location is also so convenient.
As a host, you can tell immediately that Karen cares about your vacation. She's responsive, knowledgeable, and encouraging. She gives you everything you need to feel like you are settled and secure.
If you are staying in Maui, THIS is where you want to stay. Seriously.

Lovely well equipped condo with many upgrades. Beach view was amazing. Made for two people . Short walk to a great bakery for coffee and a muffin. Great sandy beach for morning walks. Sandwich shop on resort was handy for a quick meal. Free parking. Keyless entry. Beautiful sunset view. Warm on the deck in the late afternoon .

We chose this property, because it had all the elements I was looking for: a beachfront condo with parking and a good central location. This property was perfect and I’m so happy we chose it.
Firstly, you walk into the apartment and the sliding glass door opens up to a gorgeous beachside view of the ocean. This unit is on the second floor and I was wonderfully surprised to see how close we were to the beach- I’d say 100 feet or so away. We had breakfast on the lanai every morning, listening to the waves crash, and watched beautiful sunsets every evening. The condo was very clean and well appointed with all the conveniences you would hope for. Also, the condo comes with some beach supplies like beach chairs and boogie boards, which was a pleasant bonus. The check-in process was very easy as Karen provided us with excellent, clear instructions before our arrival. It is also evident that she puts a lot of care and thought into making the people who stay at her property feel at home (if your home was on a beautiful sandy beach in Maui!).
The location of this property couldn’t have been better. It was centrally located to all the places we wanted to explore: 30 minutes to West Maui, 17 minutes to Paia for the start of the Road to Hana, and just over 1 hr to the summit of Haleakela.
I would absolutely stay here again. The only downside to the whole experience here, and there is only one, is that we had to leave. It was a wonderful home base for an amazing Maui vacation.

Such a great condo right on the beach Sugar Beach resorts has a concierge like office. We ordered a dinner cruise and couples massage. Owner is so responsive to questions about the area both before and during our stay.

The location was even better than its description. Immaculate, extremely well appointed with just about anything you may need. Highly recommend staying here! Karen’s place in Kihei (sugar beach resort) was the best VRBO we have stayed at. It had everything! Plenty of toiletries, snorkel gear, beach chairs and umbrella. The kitchen was fully stocked with cutlery and plates/cups. Most importantly, the bed was extremely comfortable. We have already looked into buying the same mattress topper. The views are marvelous and it takes about 10 seconds to walk to the beach. Lastly, Karen was extremely communicative when we had a few questions. And the check in process was a breeze. We would give it more than 5 stars if possible, and we highly recommend this VRBO to any travelers coming to Maui!

We were looking forward to our stay at Karens Condo but unfortunately the tragic fires happened and everything else became second thought. Karen, kept up communication and we were issued a prompt refund . My wife and I stayed for 7 nights in this condo. The condo was as advertised and very clean upon our arrival. Beautiful ocean view with a great lanai, well stocked with laundry and kitchen supplies, as well as beach chairs, an umbrella and beach towels. The central air worked great and the washer/dryer worked well although the washer spin cycle is very loud. The condo complex pool/jacuzzi area was well kept and we used the propane BBQ to grill fish. The BBQ is cleaned daily. The beach is very scenic and walkable although the water is a bit murky and not the best for snorkeling in my humble opinion. Parking was easy and plentiful. The host, Karen, was very responsive and provided clear communication through the whole process. The condo is a short drive from great restaurants, food trucks and beaches. We had a great time and can highly recommend this condo!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Karen’s place and highly recommend staying here. It is very conveniently located and easy to get to sites around the island. She is an excellent host and goes above and beyond to make sure you have what you need and communicated very clearly and in a timely manner. We liked that the unit was on the 2nd floor as it allows you to avoid the elevator and gets you high enough for a great view. It’s extremely close to the water and the sunsets were amazing. The complex itself is smaller, very well maintained, and wasn’t overcrowded like the big resorts. The whales were very active this time of year and we observed them offshore through binoculars (which are provided) and even some closer up (within 100-200 yards from shore). There was also so much provided to make the stay easy and enjoyable (beach chairs, cooler, snorkeling gear, beach towels, kitchen well-stocked, etc.). The only thing to note is the water clarity in this area may not be that great for snorkeling depending on the time of year and winds. However, it’s just a short drive to some of the best snorkeling in Maui. I’m a tough critic and expect rentals with a 5-star rating to live up to the hype and Karen’s place definitely delivered a wonderful experience.

The good and amazing - incredible view right on the beach, thoughtfully stocked condo. Has everything you need and more including a portable speaker, beach chairs, and cooking extras. Owner communications were responsive and informative. Very clean, bed was super comfortable, towels were amazing. Pool hours are fine and lots of seating available. You can bring your own drinks and food.
The not so great - older building, no pool bar, not much close by. There is a restaurant with limited hours on site.

This condo was a perfect base for a quick Maui trip. Karen was so easy to work with, the condo is exactly as described, and the central location is great if you plan to day trip all around the island . It is super clean and has everything you need. We especially appreciated the snorkel gear and the small cooler - it was great to just pack up a cooler full of fresh fruit, grab the snorkels and head out for the whole day! Also loved coming home to that sunset view and then walking for malasadas in the mornings. An all around great experience!
