About this apartment rental
The house has a large terrace surrounded and covered by bougainvillea and a small, completely private garden. It looks out onto the turquoise water of the Mediterranean. (The large terrace, private garden and sea view are a fortunate and rare combination for apartments and homes in the area.)
The sea is 150 steps down from the house to sunning platforms with free lounge chairs and umbrellas and access to the water. A 10-minute walk leads to a sandy beach nearby. The apartment is located in a private condominium with no cars or roads near the houses. There is a private parking space for your car in the parking areas behind. Low-lying houses are surrounded by bougainvillea, olive trees, lawns and gardens. Tennis courts and 2 swimming pools are on the property and reserved for owners and their guests.
Inside are 2 bedrooms each with a queen-sized bed and each with a bathroom. The apartment includes WIFI, a small TV, a washing machine, a microwave, heating and air-conditioning. There is no oven but there is an electric + gas stove.
The area is 800 meters from Porto Rotondo with its shopping, restaurants, theatre, and its famous port filled with yachts, sailboats and motorboats. Archeological sites, spectacular landscapes and dramatic rock formations are within a 30/40-minute drive and in a very short time, one can travel from the old traditional villages of the interior to the luxurious harbors, hotels, restaurants and boutiques along the coast.
I will send those who are planning to stay an elaborate description of the house, surrounding areas and places to visit, with indications of where to shop or dine and suggestions for hiking and exploring.
Families welcome.

The property grounds were beautiful. The private beach area was perfect, no need to drive in search of beaches. It was a short walk into Porto Rotondo and 2 other lovely beaches.

We were not disappointed in any way with the property , the views from the outside space where beautiful . There are a lot of very nice beaches in easy reach and the swimming pool was 5 mins away . Just had a few issues locating the property even with Shelia excellent guide .

Had a lovely time in Sheila’s property - beaches nearby were lovely and the bus service meant no need for a car if you stay fairly local. Lots of good restaurants nearby and supermarkets with lovely (if expensive) ingredients for cooking at home. Veranda was a lovely place to sit in the evening and it was great to have the pool, sea swimming area and tennis courts on hand.

Alles in allem: sehr empfehlenswert!

Fantastic place and great host!
Sheila’s place at Costa Smeralda is pure magic. The apartment is not big and the beds are a bit narrow, but when you sit at the veranda covered in flowers and stare at the ocean it really doesn’t matter. The private beach (cliffs) has small areas where you can spend the entire day in comfy chairs or diving in the crystal clear water. The nearest city, Porto Rotondo, has a great harbour front with restaurants and can be reached by foot in 20 minutes. The host Sheila is very helpful and answered any questions we had during the stay :-)

A little haven
Sheila’s little house is in an idyllic spot, quiet and with stunning views from the terrace and garden. It’s in a smallish development that I imagine was built to evoke an old Sardinian village. The properties are attractively arranged along twisting walkways which lead down to the bathing areas and swimming pool. It was the end of the season when we were there so it was very quiet indeed. You could sit in the garden and hear birds singing and waves lapping, possibly two of the most relaxing sounds on Earth. The house, although small, is very comfortable and the terrace is a wonderful place to sit or lie either in dappled shade or full sun. It’s the perfect place for relaxing, eating, talking and drinking the very good local Vermentino wine. There is a very pretty beach five minutes walk away which never had more than a dozen people on it and often we were the only people there. I imagine it’s much busier in summer. Porto Rotondo itself is five minutes drive and pleasant to walk around. Unfortunately, as we were there in early October, almost all the restaurants were closed but there would be a good choice earlier in the season. We visited Tartarughino a few times. The food was lovely and the staff very friendly.
Sheila provides lots of information about the area, restaurants, supermarkets, beaches and walks. Within reasonable driving distance you can visit Porto Cervo on the Costa Smeralda and wander around the upmarket shops and then you can go to Arzachena and visit the archaeological remains nearby and imagine a different lifestyle.
We had a wonderful week and fell in love with the area and plan to go back. Perhaps in April when all of Sheila’s favourite restaurants and bars are open!

Magnifica vacanza
La casa è inserita in un contesto molto curato e dalla vista incantevole, a pochi passi dal centro di Porto Rotondo.
La proprietaria è stata molto disponibile e la casa, funzionale e con splendida veranda, è stata all'altezza delle aspettative.

Didn’t want to leave
Sheila is a great host, although we didn’t meet her, she gave us detailed instructions on everything that we needed for our fantastic stay.
Her villa is gorgeous and Porto Rotondo is beautiful and a great place to stay.
Sheila kindly offered to let us stay until the evening of our departure date as we had a late ferry to Italy to catch.
I would recommend this villa to anyone as we had a fantastic time there.
Thank you Sheila, we hope to return in the future

Magnifique endroit

WONDERFUL OUT-OF-SEASON VISIT
What a wonderful out-of-season visit!!
Invigorating air and sunshine and spring flowers everywhere covering the hills and mountains and in the private garden in front of the terrace/patio area where we had lunch and relaxed. We explored the endless beaches and the archeological ruins of the nuraghe in the hills. Sometimes we had dinner at home in this comfortable, welcoming house and other times ate in Porto Rotondo or in Golfo Aranci or drove up to San Pantaleo to see the extraordinary rock formations and then have a drink in the Piazza. Perfect.

Incredible location with beautiful views!
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay in March 2018. Sheila was great with all the detailed instructions for our arrival and stay! We loved every minute and appreciated all the advice on local attractions and restaurants. We purposely chose to arrive before the “season” began and I think we were the only people on Punta Volpe, except for the groundskeepers! We would love to return sometime when all the shops and restaurants are open, but the quiet, peaceful location was just what we needed! We looks forward to returning again sometime and will definitely stay in the same place.

Tolle Wohnung an wunderschöner Lage

A BEAUTIFUL VACATION AT PUNTA VOLPE!
I had the good fortune to spend a week in the apartment 421626 owned by S.McK. at Punta Volpe.
The apartment is very welcoming and well organised for a vacation by the sea. The design of the furnishings inside and out permits one to look out through the garden and rich vegetation to the sea just beyond which can be reached within 2/3 minutes on the path winding through bougainvillea, juniper, cedar and olive trees. The apartment is simple and yet extremely comfortable for everyday living. We sometimes went out to dinner in one of the many restaurants in the nearby town and at other times we ate on the terrace under flowers and the stars.
I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

A nice stay but it could be better.
Whilst we enjoyed our stay at Porto Rotondo as it was a pleasant little unit we felt it could do with some minor improvements & a thorough clean.
We could not find a kettle to boil water so had to use a saucepan. We could not find a toaster only a very old & not very clean toaster oven which turned us off completely.
We were unpleasantly surprised on the day we departed when we stripped the bed & removed the pillowcases to find very dirty old pillows. They were disgusting, marks all over them. We were horrified that we had been sleeping on them. There cobwebs & spiders at the back of one of the couches. They have been there a long time.
Lots of notes everywhere even a note to tell us the TV remote does not work! Please! If you know the TV remote does not work replace the remote control or replace the small television. Neither of these are expensive.
The owner supplied very detailed information on how to get to the unit & how everything works but we were disappointed that the unit was not in better condition.
The unit is a short walk to the water & has a lovely view from the unit & it was lovely to sit on the outdoor furniture to enjoy the view.
Unfortunately we could not recommend this unit to others. The owner needs to spend a little bit of money if she intends to continue to rent it out to make it more enjoyable for paying guests.

Lost and Found in Sardinia
What a surprise! Who would think that October would be the perfect month for a holiday in Sardinia? But is was. Our stay in Sheila's beautiful, artistic apartment was a dream come true. Not only did it include everything two couples would need while on vacation (even down to a cooler for the beach), but it far-exceeded our expectations. The apartment is situated on a hillside where it catches the cool breezes but is also on a sunny aspect. The scenic view of the ocean and far hills is breathtaking. You are just a short walk down the hill to the seaside terraces where you can lounge as much as you like or take a dip in the water which was a perfect temperature this time of year. The complex and it's vegetation look as if they were landscaped by Mother Nature herself. The apartment also has the conveniences of a washing machine and WiFi if you can't bring yourself to completely unplug. The couple of times we needed help during our stay Sheila was a short phone call away and her maintenance help arrived within 15 minutes to solve our problem. Punta Volpe is an upscale neighborhood and is an easy walk or short drive from the resort town of Porto Rotondo. Porto Rotondo has all of the amenities you could need including wonderful restaurants (we highly recommend La Rosa dei Venti), shops, banks, and a small market. For serious grocery shopping we recommend driving to Arzachena to a supermercato or to Auchan near the Olbia airport. During our stay in Sardinia we traveled extensively over the island and were never disappointed in our discoveries. We highly recommend visiting the Nuraghi sites near Arzachena; taking the ferry from Palau to La Maddalena islands; going wine tasting at Vigne Surrau; or really going off the grid to have lunch at Su Gologone in the Supramonte region of Sardinia. But most importantly, you really don't have to leave Sheila's beautiful apartment to enjoy a perfect Sardinian vacation.

Excellent!
We had a fantastic two weeks in July at Sheila's apartment. The accommodation was exactly as described with a nice view of the sea from the garden and a great outdoor patio space where we spent most of our time when not out and about exploring beautiful Sardinia. The complex is lovely, well maintianed and has a touch of class about it. The swimming pool is great with a fansastic view of the bay. The beach within walking distance was lovely and despite we had a car we spent 6 days on this beach. The beach cafe was good value and we had lunch a couple of times overlooking the water with fresh fish of the day. Cooking facilities were fine with a hob with 3 gas burners and one electric. If you do have a car we can thoroughly reccomend a drive to La Cinta and Brandinchi beach - just amazing. We are already planning to go back and stay in the apartment next year!

Perfect Holiday!
What can I say. Perfect. Where do I begin? First of all the view, the garden, the beautiful patio surrounded by an amazing blooming bouganvillea. The fully equipped two bedroom apartment with everything you could possibly need to relax (but we didn't spend much time indoors anyway). We were lucky because the italian high season only lasts till the end of august, we were told, so we had the pool almost to ourselves, as well as the lovely platforms in front of the sea. The weather was also perfect. There is a little bus that takes you into Porto Rotondo for free (a 5 minute ride), where you can find everything you need: groceries, restaurants and wonderful gelati. We spent a week swimming and sunbathing and relaxing and have decided to repeat next year. This is exactly what you need if you are stressed out: a week in paradise.

Lovely!
My niece, an American, is taking the International Baccalaureate Program in Sweden (Dad is Swedish) and wanted us to visit. Sardinia was decided upon. So, while searching VRBO this property surfaced. I'm glad it did.
Rented a car at the Olbia Airport and followed the signs to Costa Smeralda and then drove through town to find Punta Volpe and the Condominiums. They are lovely. Grounds are well maintained with bougainvillea and hibiscus. With Sheila's instructions we found the unit (treasure hunt!) in the middle of B complex. Although compact, we found the unit to have everything we needed. If you are looking for a gourmet kitchen (why, for God's sake, in Italy?) this may not be the place for you as there is no oven just a toaster oven. We were thrilled to prepare great breakfasts and even more delighted to eat at the outside table watching the incredible view the space offers. So special! Azure blue sea, big hills across the bay and all focused through the living lens of the bougainvillea trellis. Most of our time was spent on this porch.
Routine went like this: Drive around looking at the sights, come back and go to the water's edge, read on the chaise lounges, swim, then take the fresh water shower. Back to the condo to get an adult beverage and walk down the hill to the nearest (and most beautiful) beach to watch Porto Rotondo shimmer into the early evening. Return, bathe and go out for dinner. I want that pattern back!
Favorite restaurants were Locando Santi Andrea in San Panateo. Wonderful food and service in a special open-air room with a view of the hills. Great fish, pasta and the best of the suckling pig dinners I had. Lu Stazzu was very good food in a dramatic setting; it's fun to watch the pig cooking in the fireplace. And if you are going to the Tombe dei Giganti La Prisgiona in Arzachena I would definitely stop by Jaddhu Resort and eat Mr. Tonino Dettori's excellent lunch. You can then walk down to the sight.
Property is as described, pictures are accurate. Sheila is easy to work with. Don't use the toaster oven and hair dryer at the same time it will trip the fuse.
Porto Rotondo is within walking distance (I'm 61) and is truly the lifestyle of the rich and famous. A beautiful harbor where you can watch people strolling and enormous pleasure boats coming and going whilst you sit at a cafe (my favorite was Paramore at the end by the Harbormaster bldg.) and sip wine. A great base for exploring the Emerald Coast!
