This beautiful Gearhart vacation rental combines Craftsman character with modern features in a happy marriage of comfort, efficiency, and proximity to charming little Gearhart - one of the best-kept secrets of Oregon's northern coast! There's the beautiful, long beach, of course. Stroll at nearby Gearhart Ocean State Park or Del Ray State Recreation Site. Play a round of golf at Gearhart Golf Links, a mile away, or Highlands Golf Club, just a bit farther. It's a short distance to the eateries in downtown Gearhart. Or, cross the bridge into Astoria about 15 miles north, where you can visit one of the waterfront bistros, casual fish houses, and a few highly regarded microbreweries. Make the three-mile drive south to Seaside with its lovely aquarium, boardwalk, and souvenir shops.
A bonus dog door also leads to the big backyard: a gorgeous spot with an outdoor firepit so you can watch the stars by the fire's warmth.
The atmosphere of this lovely period home is preserved with touches like a claw foot tub, hardwood floors, and faux, gas woodstove and wood fireplace. And, you'll have many of the amenities of home, like a CD player and DVD player. The living area is a bright, open space, made larger by a pitched ceiling punctuated with skylights that flood the room with sunlight. Watch it dance on the beautiful hardwood floor! Make coffee and share tales of your day on the whale-watching charter or the beach. The overhead ceiling fan will keep the air - warm or cold - circulating in summer or winter. There's a DVD player, but you'll want to pack some movies to watch. The big TV has cable, but if you'd like a simple diversion, why not pick a book from the library and read?
The bright and roomy well-equipped kitchen has several upgrades from its original design! For those who like to cook, you will appreciate the cooking control that comes with the modern gas stove. There's a microwave for snacks, warm-ups, and movie popcorn. Plenty of room in the fridge for your cold stuff. Gather 'round the big table in the separate dining area when the meal's done. If it's a nice, sunny day, use it as an excuse for an old-fashioned barbecue on the gas grill in the backyard. Clean-up is made easier with the double sink and dishwasher.
This charming home's bedrooms are accessible via two separate staircases. At the top of this staircase by the front entrance, you'll be greeted by a small table with four comfy chairs: perfect for a game of cards before bed. White walls, more skylights, and bright colors make this a cheerful space. One bedroom has a TV for late-night viewing, and the another has a big window with a view of the grounds.
The loft above the garage serves as the primary suite with a TV and full bath - perfect for a couple who'd like a little more privacy. When the laundry starts piling up, take care of it in the utility room, where you'll find a washer/dryer.
Make Spruce Landing in scenic Gearhart your next getaway haven, and enjoy its combination of luxury, convenience, and proximity to sites and activities on the Oregon Coast!

The house had really nice space and light. The King bed upstairs had a wonderful mattress! The location is great for walking to the beach or shopping in Seaside. We would stay again!

A vintage beach bungalow that is eclectic in design, clean but needs a little TLC and attention to graffiti in laundry room. Utensils need attention: knives very dull, too many colanders!(I found 6!). There is a strange odor at base of master stairs that is like
cleaning fluid.

House was in a great location and plenty large for our group. The outdoor space was great!
A few downsides: it was not very clean upon arrival. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher and an unwashed blanket in the washing machine. Also dishes seemed to just be mismatched. Furniture such as the barstools and outdoor seating were falling apart and not very stable. A small frustration as well was the door lock had a code that was 10 digits and unable to be left unlocked so it was at times frustrating to have to memorize that code or always have a phone on you to open the door.
Overall, I would probably choose somewhere else to stay for next time.

Perfect size, clean, close to the beach access. Recommend

A cute house not far from the main drag of Gearhart. Most of your time will probably be spent in Seaside though, which is a very short drive. Walk straight down the road to the beach. There are paths, despite Google Maps saying otherwise.

The cottage has everything you need for a family stay. Spacious but cozy. The location is a short walk to the beach or the bakery. We have stayed here before and look forward to returning again.

The house is centrally located between some big time touristy attractions but this is tucked away where it’s nice and quiet. Just the way we like it!

We loved staying here with my wife, son and dog. The house has great character, very comfy, homey and the location was great too.
Loved the yard and fire pit.
We even had a family of Roosevelt Elk come visit us one of the days. Absolutely coming back!
Thank you

The place was FILTHY! Dog pee stains on all carpeted and hardwood areas and the god awful smell of urine emminating throughout the house! Dirt from people's dirty fingers in every crevice of everything. Tarp on the roof covering leaks. Smoke alarm in kitchen goes off everything you cook anything. Free couches from craigslist are placed throughout the house with stains and rips on them. I paid more than my mortgage to stay here for 3 days and am sorely disappointed. So much, in fact, I will be contacting officials regarding my stay here! In an earlier review Vacasa sent me. They wanted me to rate the cleanliness and I gave 3 stars because the towels were white and clean. My bed sheets seemed clean enough. The sink area was clean in the kitchen. Otherwise, the place is gross and now have allergies due to our stay there. Not sure if it was the moss covered roof, the unsanitary conditions or the urine saturated furniture and floors.

The bed was ridiculously high and very difficult to get into. You had to step on the chest at the end to climb in and once in there is no side table or shelf to put a class of water, cell phone or glasses and no light. This space was not well thought out and very uncomfortable.
The stairs up to that room was OK but the stairs to the other rooms was very steep and unsafe for kids or older folks.
The house was in a nice quiet neighborhood and a central location. The house has potential but needs a lot of maintenance a little landscaping and lacks any attempt at charm. We would not rent this again.

We were so very disappointed when arriving at this home. The order of mildew, the rundown interior & exterior were surprising considering the photos and descriptions on website. It was shocking. We’ve requested a refund which we hope to receive soon.

The location was good. Close enough to walk to beach, downtown area. It was well furnished for cooking, etc. The bedrooms are all up steep stairs, so not good for anyone who has trouble with stairs.

Quaint House Needs A Deep Cleaning
The house is on a quiet street in beautiful Gearhart, Oregon. However, we have become spoiled by our past experiences with VRBO houses and expect a certain standard and this house falls short. There are a lot of stains on the furniture, major dust on fans, outside chairs were not wiped clean, remote is grimy as is the coffee pot plate. The upstairs king bed is cozy but unfortunately the carpet retains the odor of pet urine and has stains. They have a box fan in the bedroom and I enjoy hearing a fan at night, however, the fan is covered in dust and dirt. It’s an easy fix to clean it or purchase a new inexpensive one for guest. We requested our cleaning fee back from Vacasa and they told us the local manager must approve the request. If you are at all triggered by dirt, pass on this vacation rental.

Gearhart weekend
Property was good for our group. Only complaint was stairs to 2 bedrooms were too small for older people to climb so one in our group ended up sleeping on the couch.

Needs work
We stayed 1 out of three nights . The place was not what we expected. The carpets we stained as well as the furniture. There’s weee space heaters in every room and they were noisy. Also no blinds or curtains on the master bedroom . Which was very strange. The place. Needs a major update and someone needs to take care of the yard. So dissatisfied with this place. Luckily I was able to find a hotel for the next few nights. I emailed two times and no response from anyone.

We will be back
We had an awesome time at this property. It was sparkling clean when we arrived. And it snowed! It was so beautiful!
The only issue we had was that the dryer didn't work. When I called they told me it already had a repair ticket on it and they apologized that we weren't informed. I had washed the only set of sheets for the king size beds and so we had no bedding. They sent out housekeeping a few hours later with clean sheets. They apologized for the inconvenience and refunded part of our charges.
We will absolutely be back to this house and will use vicasa again in the future. They were great!

Great for canine family members
Loved the privacy, it was clean and quiet, had a quaint cottage feel. The neighborhood was filled with trees and a short relaxing walk to beach as well as downtown gearhart. The house has a quirky layout with 4 doors that lead to outside (2 backyard 2 front). Fenced back yard had some loose boards that need to be reattached.. The large front porch was great for inclement weather. Only has a few plastic chairs for outside sitting. The carpet and furniture have seen better days but comfortable. This was our doggies beach weekend so it was perfect for us. We would definitely stay again.

Delightful and quiet retreat
We rented this for a girls week and absolutely loved all the space and quiet location. Just a few minutes to walk to the beach. Loved the tub and the skylights in one of the bedrooms. Plenty of room. Would definitely return if possible in the future! A very comfortable home away from home.

Cozy cottage at the beach
Spacious yet cozy. Great location with an easy walk to the beach and the bakery. Loved waking up to elk in the yard. Kitchen accommodations were very nice. The the master bedroom was very quiet and the bed comfortable. Loved the claw foot tub too.

We had a wonderful 10 days in this home and will definitely return! Spacious for 6 people, with 2 indoor living spaces and a lovely front porch.
Would love to see more available storage for food in the kitchen, and a couple more comfortable chairs for the porch, but otherwise couldn’t ask for more!

Awesome Gearhart Beach house
This beach house is in a prime location in downtown Gearhart. This location is walkable to the Beach, a stone throw from Seaside, and a quick drive to Astoria. There is an awesome backyard for dogs and kids to run around with a fully fenced yard that includes a deck and BBQ. A fire pit out front rounds out the huge yard. Lot's of bedrooms, a fully functional kitchen, and the BEACH! The WIFI is great but what is even better is getting out in nature and away from the city and work stress. I am almost remiss in sharing this review as a part of me wants to keep this gem a secret.

Near my beach access. Comfortable property!

We love Gearhardt. It's our favorite place to stay at the Oregon Coast. The house is nice. Definitely set-up more for a family with older kids since the kids bedrooms are on a completely separate area than the master bedroom. Thankfully we have that, so we were fine with that. We did have one issue with the internet when we first got there, which was a problem because we were needing to do school/work during the weekday. Took a little over 24 hours to get resolved, but it did eventually. I had to make a lot of follow-up phone calls to make sure it was being done. Their maintenance guy was super nice and their housekeeping manager was also really nice. I eventually got a very competent employee on the phone with VRBO and she followed it through until her shift was over to make sure it was taken care of. She was awesome. Overall a very nice stay!

Cute older house
Beautiful house but somethings weren't working like the gas fireplace and some of the lights were burnt out . also some blinds or drapes for one of the upstairs bedrooms would be nice, But we would stay again.

Clean and cozy Gearhart rental
We enjoyed our stay at Spruce Landing very much. We are a family of five and a dog, and the house easily accommodated all of us. You could tell that this house has been well loved through the years by its many guests, and we were happy to leave our own mark on the "guest book" wall in the laundry room. It's comfortable, cozy, and clean, and we would definitely stay here again. It's an easy walk to the beach and to the cute little downtown area of Gearhart, and just minutes away from the amenities of Seaside. Also a note for these Covid times - the wifi was strong and sustained three kids doing remote school and one adult doing remote work very well.
The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because of the state of the kitchen. I know some people like to mostly eat at restaurants when on vacation, but we are a family who likes to cook, and this is definitely not a cook's kitchen. The dishes, silverware, and cookware all feel like many years of people's cast-offs and are in desperate need of an upgrade. Decent dish, flatware, and cookware sets can be had at reasonable prices anymore, and it would be a good investment here. Also, the set up of having the bedrooms in completely separate areas of the house might not appeal to all. Our kids are older so it was fine having them so far away from us at night, but if they were still very young I would not have been comfortable with this set up at all.
